Yeah, that's the one thing where I think OP was being an asshole. As far as he's said, Kevin Jr hadn't done anything besides *maybe* complaining to his mom about noise - *if* Karen can be believed about that.
Now that's what you call a MAJOR burn when op told the Karen off about her 49 year old child and their jobs as well as their violations. She more than deserved it for how she talked and treated op.
In that last story, not harming the tree is the right move. It gives OP a hostage to keep the neighbors from getting too out of line. If he ever does have to chop it, he loses that leverage and provokes an all out war. If I had to guess, I'd say when the neighbors first welcomed the basketball hoop, they didn't realize how much noise would come with it. That's the best explanation for why they seemed cool with it, then suddenly turned hostile.
If you can, get a large brick wall installed. If that's too pricey, a tall wooden fence. Make sure you know where your property lines are as well. Make sure you know what your obligations to the city is (grass height, where you place trash cans, what days street sweeping comes, etc.) Try to only park in front of your own house or driveway. And most importantly don't take anyone's shit. They aren't paying your bills or taxes. They're not sleeping in bed with you every night. You don't owe them shiiiiit. Get security cameras installed in areas that aren't easily seen unless you're RIGHT THERE. If someone has a bullshit problem, let them run their mouths and dig their own graves. Also put up no trespassing & no soliciting signs. Some areas are stupid and won't arrest people that constantly come into your property line to fuck with said property unless you have proof you told them not to. The sign is proof enough. Once it's in writing it's as good as set in stone. Be aware you'll have to let some shit slide like if there's a birthday party that runs late and they're reasonably a little too loud, but if it's a daily thing, fuck em. Call the cops and play dumb when they bitch at you. Do it enough, you can collect your video evidence, plus your sign that says no trespassing, have them trespassed and a no contact order. If they keep going you could get a restraining order for harassment. Then they need to move somewhere else. Honestly in my opinion the only people who do this are boomers and burnouts raised by boomers. Most people are decent so you probably don't have to worry much.
most aren't. I grow up in the middle house with a circle driveway that was shared by both of the neighbors and us. shared snowplow bill, we were all friendly. the houses were A,B(my house) C, D, E. had good friends at E. there was no sidewalk and we walked across backyards all the time. was never an issue
@@fish7678 not really. 90% of that is securing your own privacy while the other 10% is dishing bullshit back to people that start something. At what point is it entitled to make sure people don't trespass or mess with your property? Answer me that.
OP's wife is a lot more patient than I am. The moment Kevin started trying to tell me what to do I would have told him to get the eff off my property and slam the door in his face.
I never thought I would see a 1-story-Fluff, but it was absolutely the chef’s kiss. As long as those neighbors don’t cut the tree themselves OP holds the ABSOLUTE power over those twat of a neighbor
What he did when he refused to cut down the tree in exchange for them not recording his kids anymore was not mercy. That was having them by the balls and knowing it.
OP definitely did the right thing in the end. He could have trimmed the tree whenever he wanted but instead decides to confront the neighbors themselves and told them to not worry about their kids and just worry about their own man-child.
When OP said he was offering the tree company a sizeable chunk of money I knew he wasn't going to cut it down because they tell you how much it would cost. I was listening closely bc I know how much a sentimental tree can mean to someone. I cried about mine in this comment section before (with some very kind words of support from everyone). I'm glad the tree wasn't chopped and also that OP still had the upper hand that he could always threaten them with in the future. Even though, I would have loved to hear they gave back the balls that went over too. It was still a satisfying story. I liked how OP worded it.
When we moved into a new neighborhood when I was in high school, our new neighbors were honestly great! Their little daughter frequently came over to ask if she could have an apple from the tree. Her mother had told her “The tree trunks are on the other side of the fence, that means we don’t own the branches that stick over the fence. You need to ask before just taking the apples.” Even though we said they could pick whatever apples they wanted. She insisted on asking. Apple-picking on both sides stopped when we found that red fox liked that tree and was often in it. And the dogs ignored the fox, interestingly enough
never trap a rat in a corner without hope of escape, it will attack( once done there is no going back after hacking a daughter's tree). winning can be had without killing a tree? good outcome.
When OP started playing bitches ain't shit I would have loved to have seen Karen and Kevin's face. Not really the kind of thing you play to the elderly. He sounds like a riot, love it.😂😂
I like the move about showing mercy about the tree. They entered a situation analogy to OP holding a gun at Karens foot, but Karen is the one with the hand on the trigger. So she better behave of she will shot herself on the foot.
Yeah. The wife and OP showed great restraint. I'm afraid that I would have turned into Karenzilla and stomped their tree into sawdust, then put up a fence so high that they wouldn't see the sun (and the boys wouldn't bounce the ball over). Every attempt to record would go onto MY recording, from every corner of the house and even a bird feeder cam aimed right into their yard (and house if they left the windows open). Their 49 year old son would be getting an subscription to Sheep Lover's Monthly and Hot Babes in Cream Corn. I have 4 kids, and 9 grandkids. Grandma has been plotting mischief, both petty and nuclear for more years than Karen has thought about. My brother was a master at revenge, I may tell you sometime about some of his really good ones. That all said, Dark Fluff, you've become an addiction. For ALL your channels. Thank you!
As long as it's legal in your state to remove branches on/over your property, do it. If it's not you might get hit with tree law, and you don't want to be on the recieving end with that kind of thing. Be carefull to not go over the property lines.
Story 1. QUICKLY SELL YOUR HOUSE. HOAs Are BAD. RUN AWAY. FYI Entitled Neighbors. that would be Karen and Karen. There is No such thing as a Kevin Entitled person. Only a Karen Entitled person.
You should also consider that not only can you cut back branches that overhang your boundary, but you can cut back roots that are invading under the fences. Roots have a habit of following water courses and have been known to rupture water pipes. So in essence, you can Top & Tail neighbours trees if they are a nuisance.
Omg I'm dying laughing at this one but not completely what anyone would expect. I was listening to this with the wife and MIL and MIL has a tablet with Alexa and during the story all of a sudden the tablet started playing Dr Dre 😂😂😂
That wasn't mercy. That was recognizing you found someone's kryptonite and, convincing them them to let you put it in your back pocket for the next time the forget to act like a human being. OP definitely is a believer in know your enemy better than yourself.
Absolutely OP did the right thing not trimming the tree. Not because it has some sentimental value or whatever, but because they know he is serious, and now he has that in his back pocket anytime they try something.
It was a pretty strategic move not trimming the tree for a couple of reasons. Once it’s trimmed he loses his bargaining chip and all he is left with is very pissed off neighbours. He can see the tree from his yard too, why would he choose to make it look ugly.
I used to live next to a mega Karen like op. If we were doing something in the backyard *No one got harmed by the way* like target practice she'd call the cops. Mind you it was a harmless bow and arrow kind of thing and my brother always made sure it wasn't pointing in the direction of the house. Let's just say the cops were about as tired of it as we were. I'm glad to be away from those crazy neighbors
As long as OP can hang that tree over his neighbors heads... pun intended, I'm fairly certain that he will continue to have the upper hand in the battle.

As a kid a woman in our housing apartment complex would threaten people saying this is my property and the city owned park was her property and to leave. One day she yelled at us kids so I got up in her face and told her if I ever see her outside again she’s going to have problems. She resorted to yelling at people from inside her apartment 😂 I was a psycho as a kid I didn’t take shit from anyone and I always do my best to stand up and protect/help those around me I also got a pedophile arrested and kicked from our apartment complex also everyone living with him was evicted and the kids where taken by CPS.
Having horrible neighbors is a nightmare. I have one of them. If my lawn is higher than my neighbor believes it should be, he calls the HOA on me. I had some landscape work done and he came over and was directing the landscaper how it was to be done - and was yelling at the landscaper because he didn't park his truck and trailer like my neighbor wanted it to be AND it was in front of my house, not even close to his house. I had a lot of renovations done on my house and he yelled at every trades person about the way they parked, and finally one of them told him to F off. They don't like some of my plants, they just come over and tell me what to replace them with. The wife doesn't like my pool pump and thinks it is ugly (and unless these neighbors are in their side yard they can't even see it) and complains about it. Just wait until I get that whole house generator. (evil grin) They walk through my backyard (can you spell trespass) to visit my other next door neighbor and if I did that he would come running out and screaming (I haven't done it). We live on the golf course and he yells at people walking along the golf cart path (after hours). They wanted their back yard larger, so hey why not take 3-4 feet of the golf course (we live on the 17th hole) I had major surgery, a hip replacement and couldn't bend down for 4-6 weeks so therefore I couldn't keep the weeding up. (I live in FL, and am native to the state). I had to call the HOA and tell them what was occurring so when my neighbor called on me, they would know why. - and the kicker? his lawn looks like crap. I thought it was just me, but my neighbor across the street brought him up and told me the guy needed to move to a gated old folks community where he could complain every day. My neighbor is an unhappy disgruntled entitled arrogant transplant that needs to go back to the northern state he left and that includes his wife who is described the same. I have done my best to bite the bullet and be a good neighbor, but that is over. Let the games begin.
Hey Fluff, I've been working through your backlog when not listening to the latest. Gotta say, the way this guy handled everything to me was on the money. The basketball story... great example of why forgiveness is necessary in society. That neighbor couldn't forgive even the very minor trespasses of an occasional ball.
Holding it hostage is better in the long run for OP because now whenever Kevin or Karen try starting something with OP, all OP has to do is look at the tree and make a snipping motion with his hand and they'll back off or lose their precious tree since having a third of it lopped off would likely kill it... And if OP digs down along his Property Line and chop the roots, that tree is 100% dead...
OMG. The tree is my ace card! There are numerous updates. I've signed them up for retirement community emails, Scientology, and Alzheimer's. I use Ken's email address anytime I know junk mail is coming. Scorched earth happens the day before I move. Until then, I will continue to play fuck-fuck with them. OP
Unfortunately here in America at least an object crossing over the property line is just as much trespassing that you were crossing it over yourself. So a basketball going over the fence after you've been told not to do it would technically be a form of trespassing here.
Ok, weird question, but story one…do…do boys really keep a pleasure sock under the bed and “smell of ball funk” like the dad said?? I’m honestly horrified, that seems so gross
Here's the thing. The threat of cutting that tree is better than actually doing it. The neighbors know better than to call his bluff, because he's already PROVED he will do as he claims, by trimming the juniper tree that also grew over his yard. He now knows their breaking point, and he knows (and more importantly THEY know) he's legally in the right to do so. He knows how much that tree means to them, so he can keep them in line with the mere threat of cutting it back. It's a smart move. Neighbors get to keep their beloved tree intact, he gets to keep the peace.
The threat to chop the tree was OP's hammer. If he had done it he would have lost is control of the nutty neighbors. The threat was all it took to make them back off. Well played by OP.
OPs Analogies during the story had me laughing all the way through. On a serious note, I'm glad OP left the tree alone and is now weaponizing it against the neighbors. While some people would say it's petty, it's genius to lord something over their heads (Literally) and they can't do anything about it
I’m glad the only “entitled neighbour” I’ve had did have annoying kids that played in the streets. I don’t mean playing hockey or something I mean, laying down on skateboards and rolling out onto the road from between parked cars. When they literally had a sidewalk, a seven foot wide paved path running past their house which lead to a walking path behind their house which was also paved. Their brat also start walking out in front of vehicles. Then stay in the road to force them to stop and slowly circle the vehicle. Repeatedly. I got it twice in one day and had words with his bitch mother. “Oh my little Angel would never!” “I’m sure he didn’t mean to!” “You drive too fast.” Bitch, I live three houses down from you, I can see directly down your part of the street. He does this all the time. We scream at each other, I tell her she’s going to get her brat killed. Her husband comes out asking what’s going on. I tell him. He says he’ll handle it. I go home and see him go to his son, they talk, then the kid is being dragged back to the house by an angry dad and for the next few months until we moved he didn’t do it again.
@@Nevertoleave I was driving home from work one day and it had just rained so the streets were wet. On a residential street that I had to drive through there were some kids standing along side the road (not on the sidewalk mind you), and one of the kids must have thought it’d be funny to walk out in front of my car. So I slammed on my brakes. The kid then jumped over to the other side of the street. The trouble is, I was in a skid now on the wet street and my car slid over to the other side of the street. Right at him! He quickly darted off the road, but my car actually would have stopped skidding a short distance before hitting him anyway. But I bet that gave him the scare of his life.

My yard has several fairly sickly-looking trees along the edge I share with the neighbor. Those trees have branches over into the neighbors yard. I have no problem with them trimming the branches that are on their side oft he fence. Where I have the problems i when they decided to denude the front part of my yard by CUTTING TREES DOWN COMPLETELY. Now the part of the sidewalk that is in front of the property line gets flooded with mud every time it rains because my trees were the only thing holding back the soil. My idiot neighbors actually caused both our yards to sluff off in the rain. Their stupid terraces just let the water collect and further damage the soil.

I said a lot, and I mean a lot of certain words to myself during that, last story. I never would be able to hold my temper for as long. What is with people!!! And yes, we had a neighbor many years ago in another state who decided to trim one of our trees - did they happen to mention about just the part that was over our mutual block wall? No! I saw the b***** outside and mentioned this to her and she said it was only a small amount and smiled at me the while, while with a look like she was in heavy drugs. They actually butchered our tree!!!!! The supposedly “man” of the house casually mentioned to someone when they moved in that he was a lawyer X a lawyer who kept bankers hours? I think not! We had to have a completely new pool motor as they claimed the noise disturbed their sleeping daughter (the one who screeched while playing in their pool) - scaring me as I thought she was in trouble. And I know all this about them as I was on the HOA board (treasurer) for 5 years. And just to calm everyone who might think I was a horrible person for being on the HOA - ours was barely there - we didn’t have amenities, very little actual neighborhood-owned property - and it was desert landscaped - plus didn’t bug people about anything except when they were told they could ignore paying the fee yearly by their realtor! Glad to be gone from Phoenix for so many reasons - we still live in an HOA but never have had any problems - I mean never!!! They are not all horrible.
Honestly with the last one the guy should have put security cameras in the backyard, not in a way that the neighbors would be able to have issues but so he had video proof of what was going on and that at no time did his kids go into the neighbor's yard. Ya know, we're moving into a house with a yard for the first time and I am vaguely concerned about neighbors like this.
There are always neighbors like this, not usually this extreme.
@@StefenBruh Your instructions sound like a recipe for creating an entitled neighbor. None of that sounds neighborly at all.
most aren't.
I’m certain leaving the maple untrimmed was the right thing to do. It gives OP an edge in every future situation. Props. Well played.
Hope Everyone has Flufftastic day😁
Right back to you too! 😀
Same to you.
😁👋
You too sweetie!
OP really held back and got them to listen and chill out.
never trap a rat in a corner without hope of escape, it will attack( once done there is no going back after hacking a daughter's tree). winning can be had without killing a tree? good outcome.
When OP started playing bitches ain't shit I would have loved to have seen Karen and Kevin's face. Not really the kind of thing you play to the elderly. He sounds like a riot, love it.😂😂
I would have gone with death metal, but that's just me 😸🤪
I would have kept playing Bury the Light on maximum volume. ON LOOP.
@@SoraDonaldGoofy99 Walk by Pantera would be one of my choices.
I like the move about showing mercy about the tree. They entered a situation analogy to OP holding a gun at Karens foot, but Karen is the one with the hand on the trigger. So she better behave of she will shot herself on the foot.
I agree not damaging the tree is a major bargaining tool he can use to keep them at bay
If OP had cut that tree, he would have lost whatever leverage he had over his neighbors. So long as he didn't - he had leverage.
I'm glad OP managed to avoid damaging the maple tree. It's best if people can coexist in relative peace.
I'm glad the innocent tree was left alone
TRUE. Pretty sure I wrote about this in an update. OP
Having that tree means more to them than having wisdom, tact, or humanity.
Good story, great revenge on the worst people to live next too.
Omg I'm dying laughing at this one but not completely what anyone would expect. I was listening to this with the wife and MIL and MIL has a tablet with Alexa and during the story all of a sudden the tablet started playing Dr Dre 😂😂😂
FYSA - there are numerous updates and mostly all my stories are written like this.
That wasn't mercy. That was recognizing you found someone's kryptonite and, convincing them them to let you put it in your back pocket for the next time the forget to act like a human being. OP definitely is a believer in know your enemy better than yourself.
OP did an amazing job!
Absolutely OP did the right thing not trimming the tree. Not because it has some sentimental value or whatever, but because they know he is serious, and now he has that in his back pocket anytime they try something.
lol leaving the tree give him leverage against them
1st story. Is be annoyed with the ball in my yard too, but calling police on children is more than a little ridiculous.
It was a pretty strategic move not trimming the tree for a couple of reasons. Once it’s trimmed he loses his bargaining chip and all he is left with is very pissed off neighbours. He can see the tree from his yard too, why would he choose to make it look ugly.
dude take the phrase "outliving your enemies is a great revenge" to a whole nother level
OP is a genius!!! He found their weakness and holds all the cards. 😂😂😂
Holding the trees hostage will not work in the long run.
@@ranmatardis4236 How do you figure that?
@@ranmatardis4236 Reall? I ask because it's working semi-well. They act up, but the tree card is huge. I happen to know because I am the OP and they are still my neigbors.
I was just looking for something to watch! Nice timing Fluff!
same
He didn't show them mercy, he made sure he had leverage so they never dare mess with him or his kids. He could have decimated them and now they know it.
You don’t record kids like that Karen and you OK it what is wrong with these people.
That made me wonder what OTHER kids they might have in their hard drive.
@Carl Sylvester I hope it's not for the 49 year old son.
Full respect to the OP, I think I would've straight up snapped at one point and just put a freaking sledgehammer to their car and windows.
Obviously that's the wrong move, but good lord, they are awful people.
Y’all sometimes you gotta use some ammunition is closest to a Karen to get them to listen 😂😂😂😂😂
The tree, the tree!! Ha, ha, ha!! I've seen people plant trees and they always put them in a place not realizing where it will be in 20 or 30 years. I had almost 2 acres and planted trees about 3 feet from the property line. My wife said why, I said because I want to be able to mow around then, and if we put a fence up, they will be away from it.
I think I'm kinda crushing on this OP. His SOH and writing style is hilarious! And as for his epic uno reverse payback? That was kinda awesome too! I'm glad he put those entitled idiots in their place! I'm also really impressed neither OP nor his wife went full on postal after being called bad parents. Kudos to their self restraint!
Well, I have over fifty stories on Reddi! I'm the OP and all my stories are like there. There are also about ten updates to this story. Again, I know because I wrote them. I also made a little corner on reddit. The users there let me know when people hijack my stories. Fluff did a good job though.
Ah, but by not cutting the tree he always has a control measure over the crazy, very smart decision.
You can't cut the branches off, you just need the threat of cutting them off to hold over them.
With the branches cut you lose any control.
The first story has me laughing non-stop. I wish all the stories I hear were written so gloriously!
Amazing choice of story!!!
Hope you win, and teach these creatures a lesson!
Hey Fluff, I've been working through your backlog when not listening to the latest.
Gotta say, the way this guy handled everything to me was on the money. I hope I would've handled something like this the same way. This guy's writing style is 💯 hilarious, and I love it.
Please keep up the good work, you keep me sane whilst I'm at work.
FYSA - there are at least ten updates to this story. I have it on good authority, because they are still my neighbors.
OP is a saint for not cutting the tree!!!
When we were kid’s our neighbor had us kicked out of the city of Dearborn Michigan because we were playing outside lol this lady got owned by my aunt every time she opened her mouth my aunt sprayed her in the mouth with the water hose lmao as if she wasn’t a child once lol
Glad you are early tonigh, normally you upload close to my midnight, so I can only watch it the day after.
And Karen and Kevin duo are absolutely nuts!
The basketball story... great example of why forgiveness is necessary in society. That neighbor couldn't forgive even the very minor trespasses of an occasional ball.
I would've gone scorched earth and ruined the tree... but I guess holding it hostage is also a valid revenge.
OP
I'd have just cut off one branch and returned it to them - a bit like a kidnapper cutting off an ear and returning it.
This is such a good story to listen to when you're doing crochets, or knitting!😆
On that final story, OP didn't show them mercy. He simply acquired Leverage.
Unfortunately here in America at least an object crossing over the property line is just as much trespassing that you were crossing it over yourself. So a basketball going over the fence after you've been told not to do it would technically be a form of trespassing here.
When Karens think they own everything, only to have their same tactics be used against them. Seriously, being petty (within reason obv) is the best. 😊
Stellar writing from OP on this story!
I think I would have negotiated regarding the basketball and the tree. We can play basketball and you can have your tree.
Last story- OP didn’t have mercy, just strategically backed them into the corner and now has them by the metaphorical b@lls
Ok, weird question, but story one…do…do boys really keep a pleasure sock under the bed and “smell of ball funk” like the dad said?? I’m honestly horrified, that seems so gross
I'm not disappointed he didn't cut the tree. That'd be exceptionally cruel to the poor thing, and cutting that much could really hurt it's health.
While some people would say it's petty, it's genius to lord something over their heads (Literally) and they can't do anything about it
I am in love with OP's way of describing things
Self-licking ice cream cone!! 🤣🤣 I have to remember this one!
Makes me wonder if Kevin Jr there broke something and blamed it on the darn neighbour kids. And it’s just escalated from there
I’m glad the only “entitled neighbour” I’ve had did have annoying kids that played in the streets.
“Oh my little Angel would never!” “I’m sure he didn’t mean to!” “You drive too fast.”
Bitch, I live three houses down from you, I can see directly down your part of the street.
@@Nevertoleave
I was driving home from work one day and it had just rained so the streets were wet.
It's unusual in these stories to get a writer with such a good command of English. I'm not talking about the spelling and grammar, but the metaphors and expressions used - things like "wanted to expire Karen's shelf-life" and "one sided screaming party". I laughed all the way through it.
O how much fun it would have been pulling rank on that Kevin. Getting out as a Commander (O5) in the navy I'm pretty sure I probably would have outranked that loser.
This has got to be some of the most childish bickering I've ever seen, and it's all because a kid had the audacity to play outside. You'd think that being in the military would make you civil, but I guess a lot of people just never truly grow up
Excuse me - he was being civil!!! It was those old people next door who constantly lied X nithung against old people as I am one! So shut up!!!!

Cutting the tree would have given up the leverage he had over them. Not cutting it was the right move.
Every time I think I've heard it all, channels like yours remind me that I haven't heard ANYTHING yet

I'd want one of those baseball nets up all the way up. It doesn't block the view.
Honestly with the last one the guy should have put security cameras in the backyard, not in a way that the neighbors would be able to have issues but so he had video proof of what was going on and that at no time did his kids go into the neighbor's yard. Threatening a beautiful tree might have been a bit far but unfortunately that is what some people have to resort to to keep the peace...
The way the first guy written his story alone was worth my day had me dying 🤣
I'm glad the tree didn't get destroyed. I like trees more than people.
