I think its cause of how josh was written as a character. He doesn't jump the gun and assume the worse. He is very genuine and is emotional secured. Diggie, however often does the complete opposite and jumps right away. And That's done to show he is emotional and is meant to mean he has depth but it also means you can't give the same reaction every time Diggie says something dumb or does something awkward because everytime you see it you can't help but feel there is a hidden intention behind it.
I liked the baseball scene the best, where Maddie feels she messed up by letting her competitive streak get in the way of one of Josh’s dreams. And then when she tries to fix it, and apologize to Josh, Josh tells her that he was bummed out that he didn’t catch the ball, but he was never upset with her, and he doesn’t want her to change who she is for him, as he likes her the way she is.

I wish I can remember the titles of the specific videos. One mention was in a tier list video of his roles. He mentions it there.

I don’t keep up with interviews from that time. So I cannot answer that question. Because of this, I cannot side with either person because I don’t know the situation.
Diggie feels like the ex that the family wants her with more than she wants to be with him, who would get invited to holiday dinners even after they broke up who could straight up cheat on her and the family would be all, "I'm sure he's really sorry, maybe you could just give him a chance". And the family would like continue to drop hints about them getting back together even if she was happier with someone else.
diggy's actor looks so intimidating sometimes like if you put scary music over his breakup scene with maddie then it could be straight out of a horror movie

Can we give Dove Cameron some major cred, though. Her ability to change her voice so drastically for both her characters. Major cred. That and the mannerisms, I have never seen twins depicted so well. Also, Diggy was written kind of...poorly. He has his moments but he has immature and self-responses as him and Diggy have deeper relationship problems.
It was weird that their voices were different. Identical twins shouldn't have totally different pitched voices unless one had vocal chord surgery or something. They may sound slightly different because of their inflections and dialect especially considering Liv lived in CA for so long away from Maddie in their formative years, but it logically makes no sense that Liv's voice was so much higher than Maddie's

@@explicitlyme7497 I don’t think that doesn’t make sense. My sister and I essentially sound the same, but I’m more excitable, so I tend to talk in a higher pitched voice. Maddie had a very boisterous attitude whereas Liv was more giggly and squealy, so them talking in different pitches isn’t that unfathomable. Especially since some siblings and twins start to try and differentiate themselves as children and that could’ve affected the pitch at which they speak normally.
I think one massive credit is whenever Liv or Maddie is pretending to be the other. Because she's playing a character pretender to be another character that she also does, without just doing that character again. It would've been really easy for the other one to just be a perfect copy of Liv/Maddie because Dove knows how to play both but each character's idiosyncrasies still show up a lot
I think in some ways Teddy and Spencer were worse because he literally cheated on Teddy, she wrote a whole song about how much she hated him, and then they got back together.

I had very mixed feelings when Diggie announced he was leaving for Australia. On the one hand, I was happy that they broke up, but on the other hand, being an Aussie, I was like “Don’t come here, we don’t want you here!!!”
Honestly I thought the most toxic relationship in this show was Joey and Willow. It’s even more weird when you find out that the actress was actually in her 30’s. So I knew the ship would never happened. Then it surprisingly did but ended quickly. Like it was more about the chase.
Oh yeah! Willow was a legit stalker and lowkey crazy. If the genders were reversed, i bet more people would bring it up 😅 Luckily it wasn't a permanent ship but it's still insane that the writers made it happen at all.....
I still remember when the wedding episode premiered and they had fans use a poll the entire episode for stuff. And then when Diggie sang Maddie that song the poll was something like "Who should Maddie choose?" And I'm 90% sure the viewers still choose Josh, I remember it being a close vote but Josh still won. And when Maddie chose Diggie I remember being absolutely pissed. Mosh might have been my very first ship ever. I remember trying to come up with ship names for Maddie & Josh. Mosh Forever!!!!
According to the wiki Josh won so my best guess is that they had assumed Diggie would win, only filmed that part, and then it turned out that Josh won lol. It was probably rigged from the start since Maddie choosing a boyfriend would be a decision that can drastically alter future episodes/arcs. And I assume the season was shot months in advance so most likely Diggie was a guaranteed end game as the episodes after this were shot with the assumption Diggie would win. I do know that the Nick show Every Witch Way actually had a poll for who the MC should pick for the finale and the winner actually was what she picked so there’s that 😂
Also, the only time I remember Disney ending a toxic ship "for good" is in Hannah Montana. Miley and Jake were on and off for seasons. Then "He Could Be The One" happened with the voting thing as well (I'll admit I wanted Jake to win when I was younger), and I think Jessie was winning but Miley chose Jake and they dated for a while then Jake cheats on Miley and she finally drops him for good. Then she ends up with Jessie and it's really cute...

I remember that and being so conflicted because I’m pretty positive at that point Jake was actually good. It is possible I missed a few episodes of Jake being terrible. I might go back and rewatch the show at some point

I won't lie, I really liked this ship in the beginning because it felt like your typical sweet awkward teen romance (also cuz closeted me was attracted to both of the actors) and I was even sad when they broke up. Then the breakup happened along with the whole toxic Shenanigans and finally, Josh entered the scene which basically was the final nail in the coffin for the ship. All in all, I do think this ship is another example of Disney's "First Couple = End Couple" Phenomenon.
Mosh is superior and Miggie is a ship I despise!! I felt so bad for josh because diggie sings a song that isn't even his and then they get back together and josh is left but he is friends with joey so that's nice 😂🤣
Before this video, the only thing I really knew about Diggie is that apparently Ryan was high a bunch of the time on set while acting as Diggie. And based off some of the actions Diggie made, him being high makes sense
I agree with you, but I also feel like the fandom goes easier on Maddie when it comes to her part in all this. She’s more worried about diggie’s feelings than Holden and Josh. Maddie also only seems upset when people leave her to pursue their interests but wants total support when it’s her leaving. If Maddie really wanted Josh, she could’ve just said so and told diggie to get lost. Josh is the one in this situation who I feel deserves better.

Bro I 100% agree! Like I don't hate Maddie, but there are so many things she does that I do not agree with. The whole misunderstanding thing that let up to Liv and Holden's break up was Maddie's fault. Also, the scene I always think of is how when Maddie tells Diggie she's going to go build tiny houses, and she's like "we're not gonna get to spend the summer together," not only does he not get mad and totally supports her, but he says he'll go with her! Yet Maddie gets so upset when Diggie wanted to fulfill a dream (especially since they were only in high school). And I'm not saying Diggie never did anything wrong, cuz he did, but I feel like they were each to blame with lots of things in their relationship. Also, sorry for totally ranting haha, but I just wanted to express my thoughts. Also, for the record, I'd pick Miggie over Mosh because I feel like Maddie and Diggie go better together as a couple than Maddie and Josh. I like Maddie and Josh better as BFFs. I would also ship myself more with Josh haha cuz he is literally the best. Now, I do think Maddie could find someone more suitable for her than Diggie in college that she'd eventually marry, but between Miggie and Mosh, I like Miggie better as a couple. I'm sorry, but seeing Diggy appear suddenly from Australia really creeped me out. Yeah, it hurts to see someone you dated with someone else, but instead of taking the loss or even calling her to ask her about the situation, he just randomly shows up expecting her to take him back without any consideration to how that backs her into a corner. If their relationship had been healthy, maybe this would have been a more heart-throbbing gesture, but because Diggy frequently disregarded her feelings in the past I can't help but feel this is just another situation where Diggy puts what he wants before Maddie's feelings. I'm sad too that Josh at the end also assumed he knew what Maddie "needed" and didn't ask her what she genuinely wanted.

I don’t think they started out toxic. They were kind of cute. He memorized all of Maddie’s little mannerisms. He tried hard to get her dad to respect him. They got toxic when he went abroad. Ok, it makes sense he could not come back at first because his parents already paid, could not get a return on the deposit, etc. Not mad at that. I just don’t like how he acted like a jerk about it and did not resoect Maddie’s feelings. Fine, you do you and go on another abroad program. That is what you want to do and you are young. Exactly. At first they really were cute, it was basically two inexperienced teenagers in love. But then when Diggy went abroad, he gradually became more toxic. And on top of that, he only came back from Australia because he was jealous of Maddie and Josh.
In my imagined movie, which would pick up the "Rooney Saga" six-to-seven years after the end of the final episode, Maddie and Diggie have a really bad breakup after their summer in New Orleans building temporary shelters for the homeless turns into an absolute, unmitigated disaster, which takes way too much toll on their relationship. She also loses her scholarship to the fictitious SCSU, because it turns out she was in violation of the rules of the team saying she had to attend summer training, and, thus, kicked off the team, and effectively kicked out of school. She winds up transferring to a different college in a different state, where her father just happens to be coaching men's BB, having just accepted a job and moved there with Karen in tow. Of course, this would be a backstory. Moveover, it would turn out, in this mind film, that she completely blew her chance with Josh, as he as moved WAY on. I have more, but not for here. Your thoughts?
Honestly Dove Cameron did such a good job playing both roles. This series came along when I was getting too old for Disney Channel but I saw bits of it while babysitting and I enjoyed it, but realized the only part I actually liked was Doves performance. She was able to make the 2 characters so distinct from each other and there's something about her that's just so endearing. It was good as Disney shows go and I definitely would have loved it if I were a little younger.
My cousin told me when I was little and we were watching the trailer and I noticed they had the same name she said they were the same person ruined my whole childhood

Diggy isn’t a character. He’s a plot device to make things more dramatic and exciting for the kiddos who watch the show, and to move the story where the writers think will get the best feedback
I feel like Digging became an exchange student because Maddie was leaving for Junior Olympics. He didn't want to be in Steven's Point without her. If she had gone to Junior Olympics, I wonder how the long distance dynamic would have been between Maddie and Diggie if she was the one who left instead of him.
going over this makes me realise that they really weren't that bad at all in the beginning. yes, diggy wasn't happy about the junior olympics but he was supportive in the end and found himself other things to do while supporting Maddie through the distance, and it makes sense for him to want to explore the world more when there's only one person tying him to Steven's Point. he was a bit of a jerk about communication but their first breakup felt really natural, and was understandable, then the breakup at the airport felt like a healthy way to end things. they should have ended the story there. if he was that bothered about Maddie and Josh, he should've just called her rather than upending everything he left for and everything Maddie had built after he left.

FINALLY SOMEONE COVERS THIS. When I first watched the series, I enjoyed the Miggy ship. When it broke up, it didn't really matter though. When Mosh happened that was honestly the best ship in that series. When Maddie got with Diggy again I actually wanted to punch a wall. Josh was so much better, and Diggy just sucks. I'm so glad someone finally talked about this.

Diggie as a character is a serious case of character whiplash, first I couldn't help but feel sorry for him when Maddie and everyone else was mad at him when he went to tundrabania even though Maddie was going to the junior Olympics and wasn't going to see him anyway. Then when he was going to Australia he apparently wanted to do all of that again over the span of like two hours even though Maddie made it clear how hard it was, but at the same time it's the Junior Olympics situation in reverse and there should be some support. But then he comes back solely to sabotage Maddie and Josh's relationship and I lost the little sympathy I had, she tells him thre times ( 3 TIMES) that she is with someone else but still pressures her to be with him even on stage. By the end of the series I swear Edward and Jacob are looking at this guy and are calling him a creepy bastard

honestly the ship that pisses me off the most is spencer and teddy. spencer seemed like an alright guy, then cheats on teddy out of the blue, they break up. teddy and the other girl spencer cheated on become friends. write a song together to expose spencer. a while later, teddy gets a new boyfriend, and is faced with the same dilemma maddie had: "should i stay with my nice boyfriend that really appreciates me, or should i get back together with my toxic ex that was no good for me?" aaand of course picks the toxic ex that doesn't deserve her. because, why not ruin a good thing while you have it? smh.
I have ALWAYS loved Dove's acting during the first breakup of Miggie. It's so good😭😭 I teared up all over again like I was 12 years old watching the scene for the first time omg 😭
I work with a lot of teenagers, so I hear stories about relationships all the time. Honestly these Disney Channel shows hit the nail on the head a lot of the time. Young people are all going through all kinds of stuff, so it makes sense that they make stupid decisions. They’re all learning and trying to figure themselves out and in that process they often hurt other people without realizing it. Toxic relationships are the norm at least with the highschoolers that I work with.
I love Ryan. And I also like Dove. But I do absolutely not like them together, I think they weren't good for each other at all. I'm so happy Ryan is in an amazing relationship with Sam. And that Dove is also doing so well with her music and all.

Just saw the episode legit 10 min ago. he was contemplating the decision about Australia still and she made it seem like she’d be okay with it until after the movie date scene. And did she ever stop and consider going with him? Maddie leaving for basketball she didn’t consider his feeling leaving him. Why? Cause it’s for her future. Doggy discovered he wants to see the world finding more meaning in studying among other cultures. If anything a bit matured. And he didn’t just asap go sign up he still was contemplating

I secretly think that he had a sidechick that he was following through the world that Maddie never knew about.
Josh was so sweet my sister and I both agree that he was the better Love Interest for Maddie because of their dynamic and just how cute they were together. I don't remember the Diggy episodes beyond the one running gag of Joey always ruining moments between these two ^^;
Also this just reminds me of how often disney had main characters end up with their first love interest trope. I cant stand it, just because two people had a thing before doesnt mean they have to end up together by the end of the show.

It's ironic how so many shows will superglue themselves to the idea of a specific couple, only to introduce one or more that is objectively better, but is treated like a stepping stone. The "will they won't they" trope is only detrimental, as the longer a show goes on for, the more accidentally revealing it is in regards to the lack of emotional maturity of both people of the endgame couple. If they wanted each other, they'd ask each other out.
I love how chill you are when you talk about this even though you're honest about not liking it. I've noticed this quality when you're talking about things you like too, which is why I clicked on this video despite not having watched this show. I am glad to hear you admit this pairing isn’t quite as bad as you previously thought because (in my humble opinion) this triangle was very well done . I don’t think they deserve this much hate; I personally will keep it canon and ship Miggie a little more. However, Josh deserves the world, was incredibly sweet, and I do ship both. I can understand the frustration of Diggie coming back simply because he saw her with Josh. There’s certainly the concept of “if he truly loved her, he would let her be happy.” I can also understand why the personal affairs of Ryan & Dove behind the scenes can make the ship appear more sour. It’s difficult to separate actor’s from their characters sometimes. I try my best to do that. Ill end by saying that I LOVE hearing your opinion, Caitlin. Hi, just about to watch the video, but I clicked on this video for one reason and one reason only ever since I finished watching Liv and Maddie, I was enraged because they got back together so now I’m really happy that someone has made a video this video to address the problems

Josh's awkward moments were actually really cute. Diggie's awkward moments were just...awkward
I think its cause of how josh was written as a character. He doesn't jump the gun and assume the worse. He is very genuine and is emotional secured. Diggie, however often does the complete opposite and jumps right away. And That's done to show he is emotional and is meant to mean he has depth but it also means you can't give the same reaction every time Diggie says something dumb or does something awkward because everytime you see it you can't help but feel there is a hidden intention behind it.

I liked the baseball scene the best, where Maddie feels she messed up by letting her competitive streak get in the way of one of Josh’s dreams. And then when she tries to fix it, and apologize to Josh, Josh tells her that he was bummed out that he didn’t catch the ball, but he was never upset with her, and he doesn’t want her to change who she is for him, as he likes her the way she is.
What is really funny is how Ryan, the actor who plays him hates his character and it kind of shows now when rewatching the show.

Diggie feels like the ex that the family wants her with more than she wants to be with him, who would get invited to holiday dinners even after they broke up who could straight up cheat on her and the family would be all, "I'm sure he's really sorry, maybe you could just give him a chance". And the family would like continue to drop hints about them getting back together even if she was happier with someone else.

Can we give Dove Cameron some major cred, though. Her ability to change her voice so drastically for both her characters. Major cred. That and the mannerisms, I have never seen twins depicted so well. Also, Diggy was written kind of...poorly. He has his moments but he has immature and self-responses as him and Diggy have deeper relationship problems.
It was weird that their voices were different. Identical twins shouldn't have totally different pitched voices unless one had vocal chord surgery or something. They may sound slightly different because of their inflections and dialect especially considering Liv lived in CA for so long away from Maddie in their formative years, but it logically makes no sense that Liv's voice was so much higher than Maddie's

@@explicitlyme7497 I don’t think that doesn’t make sense. My sister and I essentially sound the same, but I’m more excitable, so I tend to talk in a higher pitched voice. Maddie had a very boisterous attitude whereas Liv was more giggly and squealy, so them talking in different pitches isn’t that unfathomable. Especially since some siblings and twins start to try and differentiate themselves as children and that could’ve affected the pitch at which they speak normally.
I think one massive credit is whenever Liv or Maddie is pretending to be the other. Because she's playing a character pretender to be another character that she also does, without just doing that character again. It would've been really easy for the other one to just be a perfect copy of Liv/Maddie because Dove knows how to play both but each character's idiosyncrasies still show up a lot
I think in some ways Teddy and Spencer were worse because he literally cheated on Teddy, she wrote a whole song about how much she hated him, and then they got back together.

According to the wiki Josh won so my best guess is that they had assumed Diggie would win, only filmed that part, and then it turned out that Josh won lol. It was probably rigged from the start since Maddie choosing a boyfriend would be a decision that can drastically alter future episodes/arcs. And I assume the season was shot months in advance so most likely Diggie was a guaranteed end game as the episodes after this were shot with the assumption Diggie would win.
I do know that the Nick show Every Witch Way actually had a poll for who the MC should pick for the finale and the winner actually was what she picked so there’s that 😂

Also, the only time I remember Disney ending a toxic ship "for good" is in Hannah Montana. Miley and Jake were on and off for seasons. Then "He Could Be The One" happened with the voting thing as well (I'll admit I wanted Jake to win when I was younger), and I think Jessie was winning but Miley chose Jake and they dated for a while then Jake cheats on Miley and she finally drops him for good. Then she ends up with Jessie and it's really cute...

I remember that and being so conflicted because I’m pretty positive at that point Jake was actually good. It is possible I missed a few episodes of Jake being terrible. I might go back and rewatch the show at some point

I won't lie, I really liked this ship in the beginning because it felt like your typical sweet awkward teen romance (also cuz closeted me was attracted to both of the actors) and I was even sad when they broke up. Then the breakup happened along with the whole toxic Shenanigans and finally, Josh entered the scene which basically was the final nail in the coffin for the ship.
All in all, I do think this ship is another example of Disney's "First Couple = End Couple" Phenomenon.

I agree with you, but I also feel like the fandom goes easier on Maddie when it comes to her part in all this. She’s more worried about diggie’s feelings than Holden and Josh. Maddie also only seems upset when people leave her to pursue their interests but wants total support when it’s her leaving. If Maddie really wanted Josh, she could’ve just said so and told diggie to get lost. Josh is the one in this situation who I feel deserves better.

Bro I 100% agree! Like I don't hate Maddie, but there are so many things she does that I do not agree with. The whole misunderstanding thing that let up to Liv and Holden's break up was Maddie's fault. Also, the scene I always think of is how when Maddie tells Diggie she's going to go build tiny houses, and she's like "we're not gonna get to spend the summer together," not only does he not get mad and totally supports her, but he says he'll go with her! Yet Maddie gets so upset when Diggie wanted to fulfill a dream (especially since they were only in high school). I'm sorry, but seeing Diggy appear suddenly from Australia really creeped me out. Yeah, it hurts to see someone you dated with someone else, but instead of taking the loss or even calling her to ask her about the situation, he just randomly shows up expecting her to take him back without any consideration to how that backs her into a corner.
If their relationship had been healthy, maybe this would have been a more heart-throbbing gesture, but because Diggy frequently disregarded her feelings in the past I can't help but feel this is just another situation where Diggy puts what he wants before Maddie's feelings. I'm sad too that Josh at the end also assumed he knew what Maddie "needed" and didn't ask her what she genuinely wanted.

I don’t think they started out toxic. They were kind of cute. He memorized all of Maddie’s little mannerisms. He tried hard to get her dad to respect him.

Exactly. At first they really were cute, it was basically two inexperienced teenagers in love. But then when Diggy went abroad, he gradually became more toxic. And on top of that, he only came back from Australia because he was jealous of Maddie and Josh.

In my imagined movie, which would pick up the "Rooney Saga" six-to-seven years after the end of the final episode, Maddie and Diggie have a really bad breakup after their summer in New Orleans building temporary shelters for the homeless turns into an absolute, unmitigated disaster, which takes way too much toll on their relationship. She also loses her scholarship to the fictitious SCSU, because it turns out she was in violation of the rules of the team saying she had to attend summer training, and, thus, kicked off the team, and effectively kicked out of school. She winds up transferring to a different college in a different state, where her father just happens to be coaching men's BB, having just accepted a job and moved there with Karen in tow. Of course, this would be a backstory.

Honestly Dove Cameron did such a good job playing both roles. This series came along when I was getting too old for Disney Channel but I saw bits of it while babysitting and I enjoyed it, but realized the only part I actually liked was Doves performance. She was able to make the 2 characters so distinct from each other and there's something about her that's just so endearing. It was good as Disney shows go and I definitely would have loved it if I were a little younger.

Diggy isn’t a character. He’s a plot device to make things more dramatic and exciting for the kiddos who watch the show, and to move the story where the writers think will get the best feedback
I feel like Digging became an exchange student because Maddie was leaving for Junior Olympics. He didn't want to be in Steven's Point without her. If she had gone to Junior Olympics, I wonder how the long distance dynamic would have been between Maddie and Diggie if she was the one who left instead of him.

yes, diggy wasn't happy about the junior olympics but he was supportive in the end and found himself other things to do while supporting Maddie through the distance, and it makes sense for him to want to explore the world more when there's only one person tying him to Steven's Point. he was a bit of a jerk about communication but their first breakup felt really natural, and was understandable, then the breakup at the airport felt like a healthy way to end things.
they should have ended the story there. if he was that bothered about Maddie and Josh, he should've just called her rather than upending everything he left for and everything Maddie had built after he left.

When I first watched the series, I enjoyed the Miggy ship. When it broke up, it didn't really matter though. When Mosh happened that was honestly the best ship in that series. When Maddie got with Diggy again I actually wanted to punch a wall. Josh was so much better, and Diggy just sucks. I'm so glad someone finally talked about this.
Dump Truck is the best side character on Liv and Maddie (not just because of his taste in ships).

I really liked Diggie at the beginning. But obviously, I completely agree with you on how ridiculous and awful he is. And Josh really is one of the best characters on the show.

Diggie as a character is a serious case of character whiplash, first I couldn't help but feel sorry for him when Maddie and everyone else was mad at him when he went to tundrabania even though Maddie was going to the junior Olympics and wasn't going to see him anyway. Then when he was going to Australia he apparently wanted to do all of that again over the span of like two hours even though Maddie made it clear how hard it was, but at the same time it's the Junior Olympics situation in reverse and there should be some support. But then he comes back solely to sabotage Maddie and Josh's relationship and I lost the little sympathy I had, she tells him thre times ( 3 TIMES) that she is with someone else but still pressures her to be with him even on stage. By the end of the series I swear Edward and Jacob are looking at this guy and are calling him a creepy bastard
This is where I was confused. I thought he only was going to leave to follow Maddie to the junior Olympics, and since it was too late, he had to go to tundrabania anyways so it wasn’t his choice.

Emmy Buckner played Liv in scenes where Dove Cameron played Maddie and Shelby Wolfert played Maddie when Dove Cameron played Liv. honestly the ship that pisses me off the most is spencer and teddy.
spencer seemed like an alright guy, then cheats on teddy out of the blue, they break up. teddy and the other girl spencer cheated on become friends. write a song together to expose spencer. a while later, teddy gets a new boyfriend, and is faced with the same dilemma maddie had: "should i stay with my nice boyfriend that really appreciates me, or should i get back together with my toxic ex that was no good for me?" aaand of course picks the toxic ex that doesn't deserve her. because, why not ruin a good thing while you have it? smh.

I work with a lot of teenagers, so I hear stories about relationships all the time. Honestly these Disney Channel shows hit the nail on the head a lot of the time. Young people are all going through all kinds of stuff, so it makes sense that they make stupid decisions. They’re all learning and trying to figure themselves out and in that process they often hurt other people without realizing it. Toxic relationships are the norm at least with the highschoolers that I work with.

unrealted but i was just rewatching the episodes of I didn't do it that had the logan/jas ship, and I was impressed that they only had 6 episodes or so dedicated to that ship yet they hold a big place in my memory of the show
The fact that Diggie has literally NO LIFE outside Maddie. He literally just followed her to build her tiny houses. Like, does he not have ANYTHING better to do? It just seems very pathetic to me.

Just saw the episode legit 10 min ago. he was contemplating the decision about Australia still and she made it seem like she’d be okay with it until after the movie date scene. And did she ever stop and consider going with him? Maddie leaving for basketball she didn’t consider his feeling leaving him. Why? Cause it’s for her future. Doggy discovered he wants to see the world finding more meaning in studying among other cultures. If anything a bit matured. And he didn’t just asap go sign up he still was contemplating

Maddie and Diggy’s relationship pissed be off bc Diggy never cared for her feelings. Josh literally played treehouse horse with Maddie knowing good and well that he’s afraid of heights just to show that he cared. That says a lot more than Diggy just getting back from Tundrabania and the. Immediately after saying he’s going to the other side of the world for an “exchange” program. I secretly think that he had a sidechick that he was following through the world that Maddie never knew about.
Josh was so sweet my sister and I both agree that he was the better Love Interest for Maddie because of their dynamic and just how cute they were together. I don't remember the Diggy episodes beyond the one running gag of Joey always ruining moments between these two ^^;

It's ironic how so many shows will superglue themselves to the idea of a specific couple, only to introduce one or more that is objectively better, but is treated like a stepping stone.
The "will they won't they" trope is only detrimental, as the longer a show goes on for, the more accidentally revealing it is in regards to the lack of emotional maturity of both people of the endgame couple. If they wanted each other, they'd ask each other out.
At the beginning I was like "this is a nice relationship, so cute" and then at the end I was like "🚩🚩🚩 NOOOOOO 🚩🚩🚩"

I am glad to hear you admit this pairing isn’t quite as bad as you previously thought because (in my humble opinion) this triangle was very well done . I don’t think they deserve this much hate; I personally will keep it canon and ship Miggie a little more. However, Josh deserves the world, was incredibly sweet, and I do ship both.
I can understand the frustration of Diggie coming back simply because he saw her with Josh. There’s certainly the concept of “if he truly loved her, he would let her be happy.” I can also understand why the personal affairs of Ryan & Dove behind the scenes can make the ship appear more sour. It’s difficult to separate actor’s from their characters sometimes. I try my best to do that.
