The lion guard was streamed on the disney channel, and in the episode "Long live the queen" queen Jana dies. It can be thought to lose a family member and move on.
Yea the classics did. Now Everytime they tackle those issues Disney hates it and the shows get cancelled like Girl Meets World it was their most popular show on the network at the time because it was the only one dealing with life values bring back the origins but when the girls went to High School they were growing up GMW was too mature for Disney's taste. Yeah I'm sure it's a lot better hearing the characters talk like robots being obsessed with their social media and likes and acts very fake thats when Disney lost me....
The episode of Boy Meets World where Shawn was trying to help a girl who was the victim of physical abuse by her parents. That episode always chilled me to the bone because I'd never seen that addressed in a family show. And it showed how much conflict there can be in finding the right way to help.
*I feel like any time Disney channel had serious moments in their shows, they handled it great. Ppl gotta know that it’s not all “kid stuff” in Disney channel shows.*
The only moment I can think of you missed is on from The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Absent/workaholic parents, when Londen thinks her dad is going to join her to a father daughter dance she first prepares herself by saying he won’t show. Than when it seems like he actually arrives, she gets really happy. Only to find out he once again failed to keep his promise. First she shakes it off, but Mosby later finds her crying because of her disappointment and hurt she feels towards her father. That scene always hurt me whenever I’m watching it
Really hits you that she’s spoiled and acts so selfish and narcissistic cuz she’s never had a present parent to show her what unconditional love is. Her dad always ‘shows his love’ through expensive gifts, but even London knew it wasn’t the same as actually having him present for moments like the Father-Daughter dance 😢
I liked that they never showed Riley's bully, since she was a metaphor for viewers who criticised Riley for being too annoying. Rowan Blanchard acted the heck out of that storyline.
There were so many people bullying Rowan Blanchard online when the show first came out, especially on how she was dressed or was acting during the scenes... So when that bullying episode came out, it was most definitely directed at all of the bullies online that were being hateful for no reason
I remember crying when Cyrus came out, the acting was so strong, and I loved how supportive his friends were. Joshua Rush, his actor, came out as Bi after the show ended.
I feel like this whole list could just be Girl Meets World moments. Some of the stuff can be cringy but a whole lot of the stuff they dealt with were very serious and very real.
Still missing the police confrontation on Raven's Home when seeing Booker almost getting arrested by the cop until Victor shows up, that moment just Angered me to the limit😡😡😡
Like Girl Meets World Boy Meets World tackled a lot of issues. More so than Girl Meets World. Boy Meets World tackled so many serious issues you could probably make this entire list just off of that show
Well BMW was a teen sitcom that wasn't held back by Disney Channel regulations so it could cover more mature themes. A lot of people, probably folks too young to remember or even witness its initial run, don't know that it was actually an ABC show. Walt Disney backed it but again, it wasn't too restricted because it was on a more wide-ranging network. It wasn't shown on the Disney Channel until it went into syndication. Even then, several episodes had to either be edited or outright cut because they were deemed too mature for the Disney Channel audience.
I’ve only seen a few episodes of Boy Meets World but it’s miles better than Girl Meets World in my opinion. While true, GMW has serious moments but there are times where the dialogue is just incredibly bad and/or boring. And do I need to mention that episode where Farckle thinks he has Asperger’s syndrome and the others act like it’s a terrible disease.
@@thewillofabeast9079 Yeah I agree Girl Meets World feel super dramatic sometimes which can get cringy. Boy Meets World never feels that way to me. It definitely has dramatic moments but the characters react like real people whereas in Girl Meets World everything bad even if it’s just barely bad is treated so over the top like “Oh no! It’s the end of the world!” Which is funny because Boy Meets World deals with wayyyyy more serious stuff than Girl Meets World and it’s the less dramatic of the two shows
These were often beautiful ways of educating little boys and girls on how real life can get. You got to get down to the nitty-gritty and understand certain ways a lot more. Everything can't always be chill. Friendships ending, breakups, cheating, mourning losses, betrayal, denial and disappointment. It's a lot to handle but something that has to be acknowledged and deal with. Disney certainly knew how to educate a child and to this day I applaud them because they got me the channel got me through a lot
I liked the way they addressed forgiveness in Girl meets world. It is okay not to be ready to forgive or even not to want to forgive at all. It is a very valid choice.
More people need to understand this. Everyone, every show, aways make it seem like you need to forgive to move on. That not true, sometime you can just move on never forget or forgive people who done you wrong. You can find closure that someone wrong you and it you are ok and move on.
you dont have to forgive someone, but its the right thing to do and can be hypocritical, its better to atleast at on point in your life to forgive them
@@MLBedits4U-bc1sp i disagree no one have to forgive your sin even yourself. You have to learn to live with your mistake and grow/move on. No one deserve forgivness but we all need to learn that we all make mistake and move on. If I kill someon I don't expect their family to just forgive me cuz I deserve/want forgiveness. I will just learn that I did something awful and learn to live with the consequences. Learn/move on from that mistake/sin. Why should someone forgive me for causing them pain? That not their promble but mine to bear.
@@bobbysmith8095 because its right, no one 'deserves' forgiveness, its your gift to choose to or not to give, but we should forgive as our holy God forgives us everyday for sinning so horribly against him, if you were to wrong someone, if you were to apologize and ask for forgiveness, you would want them to forgive you, so shouldn't you forgive? it can take a long time to be ready to forgive someone. also forgiving someone is just letting go of that pain, holding on to that grudge can cause more pain than the actual thing the person did, you don't have to give them a second chance, or hang around them, but forgiving them i the right thing to do
22:50 this episode is one of my favorites. I am a huge anti-smoking advocate and I know how dangerous vaping is. I even shared this with my High School’s anti-smoking club teacher and asked if she could show it to the middle schoolers next time we visit them. And this was long after I had graduated
I grew up watching Disney channel the most tear jerking episode of any show on Disney channel was the sweet Life on Deck finale when all the kids went their separate ways just thinking about it brings a tear to my eye
Beauties and Bullies is by far the best episode of Austin and Ally. I’m turning 26 in a matter of weeks and I unapologetically would call it one of my all time favorite shows, Disney Channel or otherwise. I love Trish- she’s sassy, she’s a badass, confidence goals, a savage, hilarious, gives absolutely zero shits and is loyal, authentic and balances out being brutally honest and snarky with empathy, loyalty and compassion. Trish is the epitome of a real friend. She’s mean and snarky sometimes but she’s not afraid to say shit to your face. She’s caring, loyal, empathetic, and authentic and never lets anything happen to people she cares for. Watching her crying in Beauties and Bullies broke my heart. She didn’t deserve to be treated like that at all.
I remember this episode. That Margot seemed sweet but boy was she rotten. She must have really wanted the part. Some would say “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. And we’re talking about teenage girls”
Girl Meets World was a follow up that was far better than people give it credit for. Yeah it had some setbacks but it stood apart from Boy as its own thing, and the stories it told were just as good... mostly... outside of the exploration of the love triangle story which was pretty cringe. But the handling of Dewey, Mrs. Svorski, Maya's relationships... Closure for Shawn's 20 year story, Eric and Tommy (Actually made me weep)
I related to Miley in Hannah Montana so much because me and my dad lost my mom too in 2010 , so I felt her pain and related to her grief more than I thought. I never saw the show with the period but I was 13 in summer school when I got mine so that's hard to forgot lol
Beauties and Bullies of Austin and Ally is a reminder of what happens for real. People will pretty much do anything to destroy you and mostly online. That girl Margot seemed sweet but boy was she rotten to the core. She really wanted the lead in the play. Some would ask “All of it because of that?”. Most would say “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. And we’re talking about teenage girls”
It’s nice to relive these moment taught me lessons a bit also they reminded of what’s important like with Kim possible, Sydney to the max , boy meets world , gravity falls and girl meets world and never heard of smart guy but one episode reminded of that’s so raven and the spinoff plus Austin and ally that Trish bullied episode and Liv & Maddie I love how Disney reminded us who cares about disability or body type and all things that are issues love the universal messages
Times Disney Channel gets Serious Sibling Rivalry- Wizards of Waverly Place Adoption-Jessie Representation of Disabilities- Shake it Up, Suite life of Zack and Cody, Kim Possible Parent Estrangement- Suite Life of Zack & Cody, Girl Meets World
I relate to Bella Thorne’s character struggle with math. She reminded me of myself when I was in high school. I kind of agreed with her on algebra being useless
The most emotional scene of the series finale of Amphibia is one where Sasha gets emotional when she says to Grime that Sasha will miss him. After a ten-year time skip to close out the series, Sasha has become a child psychologist.
another one that I thought about is in boy meets world the episode when there was a girl who was being abused by her father and cory and shawn spent the episode trying to help her
There was another Disney Channel series in The Ghost & Molly McGee Molly’s friend Libby gets her first period as pointed out by Andrea, and when I watched the episode in the series that had that happening I was like a little sad, and shocked at the same time. If any girl or woman is seeing this right now, you don’t have to be afraid sometimes when you get your first period, your growing up and becoming an adult.
@@Alleyhellcat4Ever I never knew that until now, thanks for pointing that out to me! I’ll have to think about seeing that episode from that series next.
Shake it up dyslexia is the one that really got to me because I have dyslexia and I know exactly how he was feeling and what she was going through the bullying never stopped and I was afraid to come to class because I didn’t want to read out loud or write anything on the board and it is not like all teachers are understanding as well. Sometimes they can be the biggest bullies.
Dyslexia -- my little sister had a light case of that, but with time, patience, and a big brother who would read along with her at home, she overcame it.
Helped my best friend who has dyslexia and I helped her learn to read I remember that she was undiagnosed but then I noticed her having trouble with reading and writing and mixing up letters and I went home and even though I was 7 years old I did some research and then learned about dyslexia. One of my earliest memories from elementary school.
One scene that I think is missing from this list is in Amphibia when Sprig and Anne were talking about it Sprig’s parents. When he was talking about him mom I was literally sobbing (also when Sprig and Anne were saying goodbye and when Sprig fell (iykyk)). That show had some great meaningful moments!
I highly recommend watchung gmw! There are some fun little bmw easter eggs and the show is really nice with the mature topics it covers. Could be cringy too sometimes though
The gun safety episode from Andi Mack reminds me of the episode from Static Shock about the same theme. That episode was something that really stayed with me over the years.
Also Cyrus was not the first Gay character on Disney Channel. Cyrus is the First MC Gay character on Disney Channel but the first representation is on Disney Channels Good Luck Charlie when 2 moms were at the door.
I actually liked how they did well with CeCe Jones’s dyslexia in Shake It Up and how personal it was to Bella Thorne. I think they executed that scene well and highlighted the difficulties and fears that Bella probably experienced herself in her life
Boy Meets World wasn't technically a Disney Channel show. It was originally part of the TGIF line-up on ABC. Reruns were later syndicated on Disney Channel.
I actually don't remember getting my period but I did have a lot more important stuff going on. My mom was in the hospital in a coma and on the verge of death. A period was the least of my problems.
You guys should do a Disney Jr. List Muppet Babies, TOTS, Vampirina, etc all introduce themes like this for even younger kiddos Some of the parents on TOTS are same sex and many are either single parents or even different species Muppet Babies featured a storyline where Gonzo didn't want to wear a suit but a dress
#30: Fear of Growing Up (Gravity Falls) #29: Grief (Hannah Montana) #28: Parental Abandonment (Girl Meets World) #27: Rescuing a Girl from a Coma (So Weird) #26: Divorce (The Suite Life of Zack & Cody) #25: Drinking (Boy Meets World) #24: Online Predators (Smart Guy) #23: Body Image (The Suite Life of Zack & Cody) #22: Post-Traumatic Stress (The Famous Jett Jackson) #21: Joining a Cult (Boy Meets World) #20: Anxiety & Panic Attacks (Andi Mack) #19: Class Inequality (The Suite Life of Zack & Cody) #18: Race Identity & Racism (The Famous Jett Jackson) #17: Representation of People with Disabilities (Kim Possible) #16: Getting your first period (Sydney to the Max) #15: Racial Profiling (Smart Guy) #14: Dyslexia (Shake It Up) #13: Gun Safety (Andi Mack) #12: Racial Insensitivity (Sydney to the Max) #11: Physical Self-Perception (Lizzie McGuire) #10: Bisexual Representation (The Owl House) #9: Vaping (Raven’s Home) #8: Online Harassment (Austin & Ally) #7: Objectification (Liv & Maddie) #6: Body Image (That’s So Raven) #5: Coming Out as LGBTQ+ (Andi Mack) #4: Hurtful / Threatening Behavior (Girl Meets World) #3: Islamophobia (The Proud Family) #2: Normalizing LGBTQ+ Families (Good Luck Charlie) #1: Racism (That’s So Raven)
Proves that disney isn't only for kids ots for everyone i learned alot of lofe lessons from watching Disney forever grateful and thankful 👏👏👏 great list
When Kylie Cantrall played the role of Gabby Duran in the short-lived sci-fi comedy Gabby Duran & the Unsittables, she took her babysitting duties seriously. In season one, she told Wesley, Gabby's BFF, that she was meant to babysit aliens. Even after the show ended after season two, Gabby was determined to bring the aliens back to Havensburg, no matter what. In another Disney Channel series, Booker Baxter, played by Issac Ryan Brown, was shown smoking a cigarette in an episode of Raven's Home. However, he learned a valuable lesson about the dangers of smoking, especially for kids.
You missed a few from The Ghost and Molly Mcgee. In "Festival of Lights", while brief, there was a flashback showing how Libby's great-grandparents fled from Germany during The Night of Broken Glass. There was also the subject of moving on from past mistakes, as seen in "The Unhaunting of Brighton Video" where Ollie had issues in coming to terms about what he did as a ghost hunter and moving on (same with Blair, the ghost, the gang is trying to help). And there was the topic on how some big-chain companies can overtake smaller companies as seen in "Davenports on Demand" and "Davenport's in Demise".
Disney handle the serious moments beautifully and the ones that stick out in my mind are they serious moments from the shows Boys Meets World, Girl Meets World, Andi Mack and Thats So Raven
This list should not include shows whose episodes were originally run on other networks but were later _syndicated_ on Disney Channel (Boy Meets World, Brotherly Love).
I remember watching that episode of Sydney To The Max when I was about 8 years old. I asked my mom what a period was and was banned from watching that episode. I ended up seeing that episode again when i was 9 or 10 and my sister was six, and she asked me what a period was. I now realize, at 13, that the show was mainly for girls ages 11+ as the show went on. I also remember watching Andi Mack as a younger child, maybe age 7 and was told I couldn’t watch it and now I know why.
In life there are dark realities we have to face in life. Dark realities are revealed in kid tv shows you may not get it when your'e younger but you will when you get older.
In Liv And Maddie, there was an episode dealing with sexist pigs who try to make girls achieve an impossible beauty standard by body shaming the girls. Most of the girls tried to deal with it by standing up to their sexist bullies, while Willow betrayed the cause to try to fix her self esteem issues by trying to impress the sexists! That episode in my eyes, might be one of the most relatable episodes a girl has to watch, and I agree with the message that you don’t have to impress some pigs to feel better about yourself (I’m a guy by the way).
Boy Meets World and So Weird could have filled like 18 of the 30 slots here. They went serious a lot. So Weird's serious-to-unserious ration is like 4-to-1.
Everytime I see that scene from Andi Mac of Jonah coming out makes me cry bc I remember how hard it was for me to first come out as gay when I was 14 and then again when I was 20 realizing I was nonbinary, so everytime I see it I tear up
Since you were touching on some of the Boy Meets World episodes, I'm surprised you didn't do the abuse episode where a girl had to hide out at Shawn's place to get away from her drunk abusive father & Cory mistook it as Shawn having sex with the girl & then tried to force it on Topanga

I sorry you went through that, but dyslexia is part of who you are, sometimes people are jerk. You are amazing person
Good for her
Bella Thorne really does have dyslexia so she acted the heck outta that scene, bro.
I don't think I've ever seen Girl Meets World, but I've seen Boy Meets World it's one of my favorites.
I highly recommend watchung gmw! There are some fun little bmw easter eggs and the show is really nice with the mature topics it covers. Could be cringy too sometimes though
YOU MENTIONED SO WEIRD!!! AAAHHHH!!! Best show ever!! 😭😭😭 and this episode is one of the best ones!!
The Disney Channel certainly can get serious when they want to, and we love it for that
The gun safety episode from Andi Mack reminds me of the episode from Static Shock about the same theme. That episode was something that really stayed with me over the years.
It was impossible to watch this without tearing up. All great examples.
Bro, same.
We need. Disney to tackle more serious topics
@@Sylibra_2012 Yeah; we want more videos with this topic.
Also Cyrus was not the first Gay character on Disney Channel. Cyrus is the First MC Gay character on Disney Channel but the first representation is on Disney Channels Good Luck Charlie when 2 moms were at the door.
I remember that espiode of Good Luck Charlie, I thought it was funny how Amy and Bob didn't understand how they got the name of the kids moms mix up
Riley being bullied has me in tears
I actually liked how they did well with CeCe Jones’s dyslexia in Shake It Up and how personal it was to Bella Thorne. I think they executed that scene well and highlighted the difficulties and fears that Bella probably experienced herself in her life
I would love a whole episode on Andi Mack, they covered SO much in that show
I'm glad they brought up anxiety and panic attacks. I have it, and some people don't take it seriously, like It's not a big deal.
Boy Meets World wasn't technically a Disney Channel show. It was originally part of the TGIF line-up on ABC. Reruns were later syndicated on Disney Channel.
That's how I got into Boy Meets World. The scene where Chet hid bills, I don't remember where; was it the microwave or the oven?
I love Boy Meets World and Girl Meets World but Boy Meets World didn’t originally air on Disney Channel it aired on ABC Family and so did Smart Guy.
I think early seasons were on DC then it got moved I hear
@@madnessarcade7447 I didn’t know I’m sorry I just heard it was an ABC show.
@@gracebleekman2557I could be wrong tho
@@madnessarcade7447boy meets world always aired on ABC, it was a Friday night staple on the network
They started out on abc, then moved to Disney Channel
You forgot about Andy's "sister" being her mom, which i guess falls under teen pregnancy
I kinda wish they focused on abuse like Full House did
Yeah.
6:05 I was not expecting this one this is none of the worst issues and it makes me sick
I actually don't remember getting my period but I did have a lot more important stuff going on. My mom was in the hospital in a coma and on the verge of death. A period was the least of my problems.
Smart Guy when TJ goes to his first boy/girl party. Hey Kelly! He drinks to fit in.
You guys should do a Disney Jr. List
Muppet Babies, TOTS, Vampirina, etc all introduce themes like this for even younger kiddos
Some of the parents on TOTS are same sex and many are either single parents or even different species
Muppet Babies featured a storyline where Gonzo didn't want to wear a suit but a dress
Sydney to the max is underrated
I can't believe that show was cancelled too soon 😔 didn't even let it say goodbye, y'know show one last episode, such a good show
Since u have watched the show, can you help me understand the micro aggression in researching those of your race? I'm really confused on that.

ikr! sydney to the max is so underrated and people don’t give it enough credit
I knew Raven going to be no.1 with the racism episode
Happy sunday, Phoebe, take care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia to you as well.

you could probably make an entire video with just boy meets world and girl meets world. they have tons of emotional and serious moments
boy meets world, girl meets world, and sydney to the max are so underrated 💗
Boy meets world is not underrated. It was originally on ABC not a Disney channel show
Where's the Hannah Montana episode where Miley and Lily found out that Oliver was diabetic?
That's so Raven episode on "I dont hire black people" was so devastating
and messed up. Unfortunately this pre judgment still happens but not just with skin color
30:01 or the bullies were the viewers as another comment puts it
Proves that disney isn't only for kids ots for everyone i learned alot of lofe lessons from watching Disney forever grateful and thankful 👏👏👏 great list
Did they forget that The Owl House has ended?
I think they just reused footage from the top 20 list instead of re-recording new dialogue and using new visuals like the Lumity kiss
I love these Disney Channel sad moments!
8:03 if only you can find this show
Do this with Nick and cartoon network next
Disney handle the serious moments beautifully and the ones that stick out in my mind are they serious moments from the shows Boys Meets World, Girl Meets World, Andi Mack and Thats So Raven
I loved Owl House
Man that anxiety one hit hard
Yeah I can definitely relate to having anxiety.
This list should not include shows whose episodes were originally run on other networks but were later _syndicated_ on Disney Channel (Boy Meets World, Brotherly Love).
4:44 like me
I am autistic and I find this video facinating. It is impirtant to speak up.
What about in the episode "Obake Yashiki" from "Big Hero 6: The Series" then here? #BigHero6TheSeries
How did Secrets Of Sulphur Springs not have anything like that?
Can you make "Top 10 Raven's Home serious issues?
I See 👀 This Episode Of That So Raven Dark Episode
I loved all of these tv shows from the early 2000’s it was my childhood and most of these serouis topics where what I remember most from those days
Girl meets world is my FAVVV show
I quite literally had a whole-ass MELTDOWN over having to turn 13.
All my peers were so excited to become teenagers, and I wanted anything but!
Adolescence happens to everyone. You’re not the first teenager
Boy Meets World & Smart Guy originally aired on ABC. After the shows ended, reruns aired on Disney Channel.
What's more terrifying about online predators, is it isn't always a complete stranger. Often its someone we know
I can relate to a child missing her mother. My mom died from cancer 7 years ago
this is what disney needs to do more of special for the next generation lot of these issues are still a thing in this day and age
Amphibia, The Ghost and Molly McGee, and other shows should've been on the list. 📺📺📺📺😊
Don't forget Moon Girl
Good Luck Charlie was the first to show a Lesbian couple on their Final Season but they did it right
The Austin and ally bullying episode broke my heart so much
Me too because I was teased for having a learning disability when I was younger.
A few others from Boy Meets World that could have gone in there. Josh nearly dying (or Chet actually dying), child abuse, and Prom-ises
Everytime I see that scene from Andi Mac of Jonah coming out makes me cry bc I remember how hard it was for me to first come out as gay when I was 14 and then again when I was 20 realizing I was nonbinary, so everytime I see it I tear up
It’s my birthday
Since you were touching on some of the Boy Meets World episodes, I'm surprised you didn't do the abuse episode where a girl had to hide out at Shawn's place to get away from her drunk abusive father & Cory mistook it as Shawn having sex with the girl & then tried to force it on Topanga
Where’s the episode of Wizards of Waverly Place where they literally all almost died from an asteroid
Doesn’t really fit the video theme.
28:40 I was like "Jonathan Hurwitz is gay?!" Then I looked it up. Different guy than the one I was thinking of
