That minor league merc remark is what sealed his fate. My 60 level full chromed out V who had solo raided Arasaka 5 times by then took this very personal!
V might be a badass in combat due to having the Chip and Johnny in their heads, but they are still just a "merc in diapers" as they Rockerboy puts it. @@Vipus2501 I disagree, V prior to solo mission against Arasaka, can be considered to be the most skillfull merc out there when working alone. @@mencobasukses97 I can’t agree with that in good conscience, as Ultimately So-Mi trusted V by telling them the truth just before getting to the rocket, and literally leaving her fate in V’s hands, knowing there was a good chance V would ditch her because of that betrayal. As for Reed… that line about growing up and taking responsibility, V should have rebuttaled with Reed’s own failings with Alex, how Reed left her in Dogtown. Reed singing that same manipulative song. Like he did to So Mi at 19, to Slider when he forced him to connect to the Blackwall, and to V. He blackmails so well, he even got himself to believe he’s doing it for the good of his country. Even then… I still side with Reed during Firestarter. Neither Myers nor Mr. Blue Eyes will get to keep Songbird as their Blackwall experiment project. Best way for her to be free is death… and all V can do in those few months left, learn all the dets on Project Cynosure and the secret battle against rogue AIs.
Preach, brotha. So Mi will be looking down on us from the other side, thanking us for finally granting her the best freedom we could give her. Even if it isn’t the one she hoped for…
2:50 "jackie welles" "take responsibility for you and for others" a man like reed thought long and hard about saying that, knowing V attended Jackie's ofrenda, the remorse he shares with others on T-bug, the anxiety he had in the elevator to Hansen's party. Out of all the people who wronged V, this no doubt was the single worst thing anyone has ever said to him and it only here during the entire convo and for almost 99% of the game where V has nothing left to say to him, sad
I love in the ending where you side first with him but then kill So Mi you get a call from him to meet up at the court. V can be like "So came to finish me or what?" (Because he killed Songbird and didnt turn her in alive.) He says pretty much "V if I wanted you dead you would be dead you aint Morgan Blackhand." Id wish you could have responded to that "No I aint. Im better then him." They kinda nerfed V here bit probably thought "Nah we cant make Idris a wimp."
Of course, a Merc in the circuit since few month, unable to finish their first big Job (Yes the Konpeki was a failure, the objectives weren't accomplished) and having all their crew being killed is more legendary, experienced, able and credible than the best Merc ever known in existance, the one who basically became the most legendary of all during a period where being great wasn't even enough to survive as a Merc: AKA the 4th Corpo War, this exact same war where Smasher became a Legend
Threatening V has gotta be the dumbest way to try to persuade him. V doesn't negotiate to save his own skin. He negotiates to potentially avoid a slaughter. When you threaten him you give him all the justification he needs to flatline you and your entire crew. This dude knows nothing about persuasion tactics and it shows. You can't win over someone with V's personality through intimidation.
As Reed was being thrown into the void, a warrior of true strength exclaims his goodbyes "bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum" the warrior said as Reeds body was thrown off the bridge
Low blow Reed. But Idris Elba made a awesome job voicing. You can really feel the pain coming through. He knows it's wrong but he still can't say no to NUSA. It's really a shame that the only way to send Songbird to the Moon is through him but after that train ride I just couldn't say no to So Mi. Of course sending her to meet with another likely AI might not be the best thing for her...
You can kill Reed and Myers in the safehouse just as they are making their escape from Dogtown. So Mi would presumably either die in Hansen's tender care (I don't know if it's weird or not that of the four I kinda like Hansen the most) or from her condition and not being able to get the cure on her own.
If you ignore the president's downed plane and never go to save Myers, you can leave her to die and Songbird angry at you. It skips most of PL's main story but it leaves Myers dead, Reed living his crappy life under cover, and Songbird still in a bind probably to die without your help.
My greatest regret with PL was that we didn't get a proper bossfight with Reed. Shooting him in a QTE was nowhere as satisfying. edit: to clarify, I'm not saying I'd like to have a boss fight exactly in place of the QTE, it indeed wouldn't work in that context, I'm saying Reed could have been placed elsewhere. Maybe there could have been a bossfight instead of that segment when V and Songbird use Blackwall to defeat NUSA troops?
Completely disagreed having a boss fight would have utterly taken away from the intensity of the moment. This isn't some generic badguy boss to fight this was a guy you worked with since damn near the beginning and now you have to make the choice between him or Songbird. A bossfight would have completely ruined the highly intense emotional standoff during Killing Moon.
I feel like Jackie would’ve turned on us after the heist, because of Dexter and all that stuff, wouldn’t want to risk moms, or misty, and he was too ambitious, nothing would stand in his way to becoming a night city legend
i think the nearest possible outcome for that is to not go to the myers' crash site. It will end myers, save reed but angers songbird. not sure what hansen will do to her though.

“You would have been wise to keep Jackie’s name out of your mouth. You just crossed a line you’re going to wish you hadn’t Reed. Run back to Rosalind before I send you back to your maker.”
For those of you saying Reed crossed a line... It's literally in the title. If you saw this in your playthrough, then YOU crossed the line first. YOU backstabbed Reed, and he trusted YOU. He has every right to say that shit no matter how bad it stings. Now you know how he feels. When I chose that path, I couldn't bring myself to be mad at Reed for that. I had burned a bridge and I knew it. And the worst part is, just like with Song even after she betrayed him seven years prior, some part of Reed still saw himself as responsible for you. ...That's his problem. Reed is loyal to a fault. Even when he's stabbed in the back by his friends, and his country. It doesn't absolve us though.

So Reed has reason while saying V's a sorta small fry, he hasn't shown any big feat before Arasaka Tower.
@@notthedeadweight Reed still ignored dozens of cyberpsychos taken alive, gigs from all big fixers, crime scenes cleared and a few hundred gang members killed 3:25 by that one single little merc.
@@Kosogoat First off, the Psychos thing is something that only Regina and her crew should know. And second of all, Reed works for the government and the government works along with Militech, so it doesn't matter what amount of work or for who you worked, someone with the help of a big corpo and the government is more than enough.
I don't mean that they together would stand against V, but from Reed's perspective, V is no rival for such power.
@@notthedeadweight I am more than certain that a word of a merc causing "mayhem" across the city spreads fast, besides that the psycho cases are well known with barricades, witnesees and dozens of victims on scene.
I still think that V with enough motivation (Happy Vergil) coulnd't be stopped with anything short of a saturaion bombardment or an ICBM so Mayer's authority means nothing if not to authorize such a response to V and Dogtown exists...her Myersty coulnd't do sht bout it.
@@notthedeadweight I simply mean for players not to understate V's achievments before the ending.
Edit: Anglisz
He was dead to me the moment he mentioned Jackie
Exactly my thought.
Reed deadass waited for you to kill those guys to keep to telling off!🤣
I loved how these calls confirmed to me I was doing the right choice. He seemed more upset over the fact So-Mi got away with betraying NUSA/Myers than So-Mi herself. Proved he was still a loyal dog even after all that had happened. I still really liked Reed as a character but can't help but side with So-Mi everytime.
in the end, So-Mi used you
@@mencobasukses97Desperately trying to survive, just like V. Never understood why so many people try to take digs at Songbird as if V is a saint his or herself, lol. They'd lie to and use anyone in a heartbeat if it meant ridding themselves of the Relic and getting their lives back.
@@FALpacino exactly, to me, it's either her or my V, and since it's very clear what her intention was, might as well save my V, it always comes first
@@mencobasukses97 I can’t agree with that in good conscience, as Ultimately So-Mi trusted V by telling them the truth just before getting to the rocket, and literally leaving her fate in V’s hands, knowing there was a good chance V would ditch her because of that betrayal. For me, that ultimate display of trust, I just can’t let her down. As for Reed… that line about growing up and taking responsibility, V should have rebuttaled with Reed’s own failings with Alex, how Reed left her in Dogtown. The Jackie line really did seal Reed’s fate for me, not a chance I’m letting that slide, not after the Offerenda we gave Jackie.
(I apologise to any Latin Americans if I butchered the name of that ceremony)
@@mencobasukses97 It's not saving V either in that case I'm afraid. They're down a weapon so they use you as a sleeper agent and remove your ability to use cyberwear afterwards.
That and literally all your friends have moved on. That ain't worth it imo.
That last touch was gold man. Tossing him into the abyss below like so much trash. RIH Reed. Enjoy retirement.....in hell.
Also with Skippy reciting "Bum bum be dum bum bum be dum bum"
"Is that what you told Welles in Konpeki Plaza too?"
I wish you could come back to that with a list of all the big things you've done, and basically just go "If the corps can't do it, you think the NUSA can get me? Who do you think your bosses work for?" Something cool and edgy like that. Soon as Reed mentioned Jackie, I knew I was going to side with SoMi Fully. What's crazy is Reed took two revolver shots to the head on that final mission segment so who's laughing now Reed?
2:51 Ahh so you have chosen *death*
when i heard this dialogue my hands gripped so tight on my controller i heard it crunching 😭. I already didn't trust the FIA but damn
I like to imagine this V was thinking "Keep Jackie's name out ya' f***in' mouth!" when he tossed him.
3:17 😂 Skippy got no clue 🤣🤣😭
Love the disrespect of his corpse yeeting him into oblivion 😂
He just yet him oh you’ll find him decked out in so much Chiron bro
Skippy at the end, lmao.
My friend took that end on his playthrough, got the jackie quote. I heard him do the end he yelled down the mic "KEEP JACKIES NAME OUT YO F###IN MOUTH" it was one of the most random but also funniest things ive ever heard.
that throw was personal
I got the Welles lines my first playthrough and although I love Reed, I can’t get over that… such a dirty thing to say.
Same lol. Shot bro in the face expeditiously and sent that bitch to the moon. I saw it as a "no hard feelings" option that felt legit and the guy gives the most dickhead response possible.
Best way for her to be free is death… and all V can do in those few months left, learn all the dets on Project Cynosure and the secret battle against rogue AIs.
we dont even know what blue eyes wants with songbird
@@rangopistacho6928 but we can guess. Cannot be anything good.
Preach, brotha. So Mi will be looking down on us from the other side, thanking us for finally granting her the best freedom we could give her. Even if it isn’t the one she hoped for…
This was how I played the dlc.
you are not wrong but siding with so mi is better then nothing because she wont feel that she didnt got any chance for living
V: Man this Konpeki Plaza thing really messed me up
Songbird: Don't worry it's not gonna happen again :)
Reed: lmao your friend is dead
Throw Reed off the airport roof had me cracking up lol
Just saw another vid where V punches Reed with the Gorilla Arms and he dramatically dies like he got shot as well. LOL
You would probably die like you got shot if somebody imploded your chest cavity with big mechanical arms too.
@@highadmiralbittenfield9689True
LMAO The skippy Bum Bum Be dum was icing on the cake LOL
2:50 "jackie welles" "take responsibility for you and for others"
a man like reed thought long and hard about saying that, knowing V attended Jackie's ofrenda, the remorse he shares with others on T-bug, the anxiety he had in the elevator to Hansen's party.
Out of all the people who wronged V, this no doubt was the single worst thing anyone has ever said to him and it only here during the entire convo and for almost 99% of the game where V has nothing left to say to him, sad
Skippy is wilding 😭
Shouldnt have mentioned Jackie, Reed is about to eat chrome mark my words
As soon as Reed said that he sealed his fate in my eyes. Low blow dude
Whatever you choose, Reed was always untrustworthy asshole that tried to manipulate in every sentence. Never trusted him.
Ok, that throw at the end was personal :D
I love in the ending where you side first with him but then kill So Mi you get a call from him to meet up at the court.
V can be like "So came to finish me or what?" (Because he killed Songbird and didnt turn her in alive.)
He says pretty much "V if I wanted you dead you would be dead you aint Morgan Blackhand."
Id wish you could have responded to that "No I aint. Im better then him." They kinda nerfed V here bit probably thought "Nah we cant make Idris a wimp."
Of course, a Merc in the circuit since few month, unable to finish their first big Job (Yes the Konpeki was a failure, the objectives weren't accomplished) and having all their crew being killed is more legendary, experienced, able and credible than the best Merc ever known in existance, the one who basically became the most legendary of all during a period where being great wasn't even enough to survive as a Merc: AKA the 4th Corpo War, this exact same war where Smasher became a Legend
love how he called back just to say f you and hang up on him
The moment Reed dared mention Jackie here was the moment I decided that whatever happened he wouldn't be walking away next time he and V met.
As Reed was being thrown into the void, a warrior of true strength exclaims his goodbyes "bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum" the warrior said as Reeds body was thrown off the bridge
skippy at the end was hilariuos
Reed: You're an enemy of the NUSA!
V: Sorry. Fighting Scavs. Gotta call you back.
That throw was definitely personal.
I wish there was a way to cap Reed, Myers, and Songbird. Fuckers were all psychopaths.
You can kill Reed and Myers in the safehouse just as they are making their escape from Dogtown. So Mi would presumably either die in Hansen's tender care (I don't know if it's weird or not that of the four I kinda like Hansen the most) or from her condition and not being able to get the cure on her own.
Welcome to the world of spywork.
Remember what Jhonny said. These are career psychopaths, make a living being friends with people they plan to betray.
Imagine hating on one of the most deep moments of cyberpunk because it wasn't a boss fight 💀
@@AnEruditeWolf Agreed. The tension of that moment would have been deeply watered down by stretching it out into a boss fight.
Disagree. I think Reed was the scout, and the brains of the Operation, but Alex and Song were the ones who actually got things done.
V just straight up YEETs his corpse like trash!
I understood his side but that one just killed all sympathy I had for reed
You see Reed that was always the difference between you and me. You were only ever loyal to a flag, I was loyal to people
I feel like Jackie would’ve turned on us after the heist, because of Dexter and all that stuff, wouldn’t want to risk moms, or misty, and he was too ambitious, nothing would stand in his way to becoming a night city legend
In the Orbital Station, Here Lies Reed, A Lousy Partner and the Loyal Dog of Myers.
The more times I play through the DLC, the more I am re-affirmed in my decision of siding with Song.
In my first playthrough I got the other ending and after I met the Cerberus I would shoot Reed anytime even if he was the nicest guy in NC.
NGL I was going back and forth during that call. When Reed said that line, he was a dead man on borrowed time.
Bro came in out of nowhere thinking we are bros hoping we i will side with him instead of helping a trapped soul find peace
nah, aint no way Reed is gonna slide after talking like that about the choom, Jackie.
i love skippy
Mean Reeds right song is a nuke bomb which could destroy the Blackwall
Bro, the way you yeeted Reed 💀💀💀
Honestly wish there was a way to help Songbird and not have to kill Reed. If it meant storming through an army of guards to kill Myers, then so be it.
i think the nearest possible outcome for that is to not go to the myers' crash site. It will end myers, save reed but angers songbird. not sure what hansen will do to her though.
Came in expecting to love Reed cause of Idris Elba but I came out loving So Mi and Alex more.
Scene : Sad ending when you must kill a friend
Skippy : BAM-BAM-DI-BAM
i reckon johnny listened to that and instantly took everything he said about reed n him being one in the same back and now wanted to instead of storming arasaka storm reed 💀
Skippy saved V from making the decision, instead of V killing reed, He can can blame it on skippy as a technical malfunction.
Skippy: are you happy with the autonomous shooting function? Please jump to confirm
Felt much less bad about ending Reed after he tried to play down my capabilities and mocked the death of my best friend .
Skippy singing Rhianna while you yeeted Reed at the end was fucking crazy lmfao
Those last few seconds were completely unexpected and extremely hilarious.
Oh my gosh skippy at the end LOLL
"Minor League Merc" me with my Apogee Sandy, Chitin and Projectile System with Relic skill tree given to me by Songbird:
2:49 Reed has sealed his fate when he said that. No one talks about my dead chooms like that and gets away with it.
Reed was desperate cause NUSA would bring the worst case to capture songbird
So he just legit saying shit now trying to make it easy for him to capture us
I was just gonna let the threats slide since Reed seemed to still be a chill character but when he mentioned what happened in konpeki I TOOK THAT SHIT PERSONALLY
“You would have been wise to keep Jackie’s name out of your mouth. You just crossed a line you’re going to wish you hadn’t Reed. Run back to Rosalind before I send you back to your maker.”
The moment he said that, no fucking mercy the instant I saw him after Contra La Luna.
"Keep my choom's name out your god damned mouth!"
~V
Rich of Reed to lecture V on responsibility when he's the one who left Alex in the dirt and made So Mi the FIA's plaything.
V what have you done!? You've changed the future! You've created a time paradox! ⏳⏳⏳
I didn't expect that ending xD
Reed was like: Take me to the moooooon
LOL the interrupted call was great.
Ya that shit was uncalled for lol
V's silence was loud
man i love male V’s voice acting
" Youre a minor league merc " No bro, im a fully chromed out half-psycho terrorist who singlehandedly took down Arasaka. You really think your threats mean anything to me ?
V after Reed threatens him: "Hang on, gotta kill some scavs, I'll call you back."
V after Reed mentions Jackie: **The sheer dead silence of a very, VERY FURIOUS V.**
i always jumped when Skippy suggested to jump lol ... i am a simple man :D
That moment right there that I knew that I made the right choice.
After this sentence, reed's fate was sealed
that throw at the end fucking gold
I was considering allying with Reed on my second playthrough but after hearing him Mention Jackie like that I think I might have reservations about that. Maybe this time I'll aim for the torso instead so he has a few seconds to think about how he failed before he dies.
