On my TJ I removed the license plate holder all together. I mounted my license directly to the panel and easily bent it to curve around the corner. That keeps it from getting knocked off by rocks or trees.
Nice to have options, I have my green tj set up like that and I like it except drilling more holes into the tub. I didn’t want to go that route on the red tj instead came up with this solution for now since I don’t care about a few extra holes in the plastic plate mount. Thanks for watching 🍻
I have a '97 TJ and I've been thinking of changing the OEM tail lights to LED. I had seen a different set that I was going to purchase but I actually like these better. Thank you for sharing.
I've had a set of similar aluminum low profile LED tail lights for years. They're so much brighter than the OE trailer lights. I also prefer the shape as opposed to the round LED tail lights available.
Way more gooder that’s for sure. I would cut a hole in the green tj for the rounds, not the red tj. I don’t think water will get into these as well so I’m happy they are solid. 🍻
My driver rear bulbs kept going out and one day went autozone to get a another it was full of water so the guy told me to drill a hole in the bottom 👍led upgrade definitely in my future
That’s a great suggestion, I may have to go back and do that to the housing mounts on the inside looks doable. I know my license plate mount has a small hole for drainage. LED is the way to go if you can, makes a huge difference. We have the Auxbeam tail lights on our JK and we love them. 🍻
Ive been checking these for a while! but i hope Metalcloak will make a smoked version or blacked out version. If anyone from metalcloak sees this please!!
I ended up cheaping out and grabbing some chinese ones from Amazon. They're like your old ones I think, except with the amber indicator for Aussie regulations. Hopefully one day Metalcloak will make export spec units.
I haven’t done anything for that yet. My old led tail lights didn’t have them either. There are License plate bolts that are also leds I’ve used those on my Motorcycle those worked pretty good as solution if there became a problem. Here they are: amzn.to/3DLyFe7
Dustin, I installed the MetalCloak LED taillights on my 2005 TJ. I also bought the correct flasher relay. But now my turn signals do not work. However my hazards do work. Any suggestions?
Sounds like the flasher is your problem , because you’re saying all signals are working, Check both grounds to the lights again behind the steering wheel under the column there is a few connectors that can come loose pushing those all tight might fix it, I’ve had the large connector under there come loose before.
@@JeepinDownUnder oh bummer that’s right and I remember you mentioning this before I think our law is amber only on the side of the vehicle not rear but I could be mistaken
@@ATEMOFFROAD I think it must depend. Your XJ has amber indicators, and Tegan and I have the US spec tail lights on our XJ’s with the amber indicators. The whole deal is strange to me. Haha Maybe I could run some external indicators similar to the small round flush mounts Metalcloak uses on their front mudguards (fenders).
@@JeepinDownUnder that’s true the only thing I can think is that the standard changed, seems like it would be easy for metalcloak to accommodate that amber marker though

I love them very bright as well , thanks for watching 🍻
Digging the TJ vids, keep 'em coming! Great points on the hardware btw

How about the license plate light?
Hi would like to review 7inch led headlights
Yeah absolutely 💯
Those look nice 👍🏽 once my other ones go out I’m switching to these for sure 👍🏽
They won’t disappoint 🍻
Could you drill a hole on the driver side to have light reach the license plate?

Nice , that’s what I took off in this video. They lasted a great while. 🍻

Does the new tail lights, light the license plate?
No
Or that screw is just go buy a bottle opener and make a pretty cool one that attaches to your Jeep and just put it in there
I like this idea , he’ll yeah 🍻
It’s a shame they don’t make them in non-US spec.
Any known differences ?
@@ATEMOFFROAD yeah, no amber indicators. :(
