    As someone who likes to own 20+ year old cars, I don't want my cars to have power tailgates, but I think you're the first auto reviewer to point out that its so hard to get a power tailgate on a wagon. Good observation!

    This is one of my favorite vehicles. I own a Volvo S40 and while at the dealership buying a part I saw this V60. I love it, love it, love it. The only thing weird is having to press the button to park the car and the climate controls having no buttons for this year. I do prefer the older V60 for that reason. It also doesn't have the annoying start stop.

    If I weren't concerned about finances, I would definitely buy a Volvo V90 Cross Country wagon. I think they are some of the best looking cars on the market. In today's world of boring as watching paint dry SUVs and pick up trucks, it is refreshing to see an alternative to both of those things. I think I will always be a wagon man and when I make enough to get out of my Subaru budget, I will gladly take a new V90

    If you shift into reverse before parking the start stop is disabled for 1 mile before it kicks in again

    I wish you had covered voice commands. IDK why so many reviewers complain about no buttons but never mention whether a voice command is available to do what they want. My '17 v90 controls all cabin environment via voice commands.

    25 MPG city isn't bad. The B5 is definitely on my radar now.

    I've got one, and I'm a traditional button guy but once you learn the menus, its second nature. Swipe right once disable start stop on mine, and move the icon to the top. Also Start/stop only comes on if you press the brake hard, you can feather the brake at stop. Wish mine had the B&W but the HK setup is really good in comparison to competitors. Best car i've ever owned, no regrets.

    This was a great video. This is the exact model I bought for 2023 and I really do like it a lot. I had been driving a Volvo XC 70 for 15 years but had a bad accident. It was totaled however I walked away and bought another Volvo.

    Love Volvo Wagons! Yeah, that auto stop start seems super annoying, If it was plug-in hybrid then it could just go to electric power in those situations.

    I haven't yet seen a review of this car in the snow. Drove one in the snow today and the AWD system is inferior to Subaru and 4Matic. The cruise control only works with PilotAssist, which only works if the front radar sensor isn't obstructed. If there's frozen splash on it, you won't be able to use cruise control until you clear it off even after the roads clear. The steering assist keeps wafting from lane edge to lane edge, not helpful when you can't turn it off.

    Volvo's wagons look fantastic. I'm partial to the V90, the styling looks even better on the longer body. Even in Cross Country guise they still look good. Praise to Volvo for still making wagons and for making them look good. Lucky you getting this as a press car. I'm a wagon guy and if I had the money I'd be driving a V90. I settled on a Subaru Outback.
    The interior looks very stylish but I've heard negative things about the Android-based infotainment. And then there's the reliability, they're too complicated for their own good.
    You mentioned the ugly spare tire. At least it's not bright yellow like Toyotas to shame you into fixing it.

      I drove Suabura wagons from the mid '80s to 2006. That year Volvo was giving a 5g discount on the XC70. The resulting cost was very close to the Outback so I switched. Never looked back now happily driving a V90cc.

    I think one of the main drawbacks of this vehicle is vehicle is the price, it is $7,000 more than the S60. Kind of insane just to make it a wagon.

    Please check the OWNERS MANUAL again, there is an option to turn off the start/stop function. You will be given instructions to what screen to get to to accomplish this. I think it is only two or three subscreens to scroll through.

    Why did volvo go backwards on their climate controls? Zack, i'm right with you on wanting physical climate controls, BUT - Volvo is the ONLY touchscreen climate control that was actually easy to use while driving... at least it was on the 2018 and 2021 models i've driven. But I can see they changed the design. It looks prettier than it did, but it is FAR less usable. Volvo used to have a slider you could drag with your finger, so you didn't have to tap a fake button over and over again. Maybe you can install the old software on the car?

  • @thirdpedalnirvana
    @thirdpedalnirvana ปีที่แล้ว

    Start Stop cant be disabled???? Did they at least make the AC still work when it stops? The 2018 XC90 can't run the AC when the engine shuts off, and I was driving it in the summer, and it had the panoramic glass roof, so I would always disable start stop - not because the stopping and starting was a problem, but sitting at a traffic light and almost immediately getting to hot from the sun beating down on me was unacceptable.

    Volvo's modern drivetrains definitely don't feel like 'you control the engine and the transmission figures itself out' like the old ones used to - it's more like you put in a request from the engine and transmission to get some power, and they work it out amongst themselves how they'll do it. Its done well, but it provides no additional driver involvement that you'd miss if it was 100% electric.

    • @thirdpedalnirvana
      @thirdpedalnirvana ปีที่แล้ว

      I drove a "T6" (turbo and supercharger) XC90 from 2018 and the drivetrain was "ok" but the best parts were the interior ergonomics, the digital graphics (this coming from someone who mostly hates digital gauge clusters), and the HANDLING... the XC90 made the much smaller, lighter, and more mechanical 1996 850 Wagon feel like a boat. Volvo isn't getting enough credit for how great their suspensions are. It gives you ALL the refinement and comfort you'd expect from a luxury car, actually more... yet it genuinely feels good to hustle them around corners.

    volvo has different engines for same fee. 700 hp be plenty of hp. highway driving is great. great stereo system is included. it failed big bottle test. nice vented seats.

    Auto start stop is a ridiculous feature. The constant starting of the engine wears it out faster.

    11:15 are you sure you can’t switch off the start/stop function? I own a 2019 XC40 with the older sensus infotainment and there is a very simple way to turn it off, it’s surprising that the newer system lacks this “button”.
    Great video, I absolutely love Volvo.

    "Off-Road Mode" only operates up to 19 MPH, or when Swedish Meatballs are detected inside the vehicle.

    My dad's S60 left us stranded after a month of owning it. Basically what this thing is.
    Volvos sure look nicer than the Germans but the reliability is just not there to justify the risk. We replaced it with a Lexus.

      @Kacpa2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Newer volvos are like this sadly. Strained 2.0L 4 banger turboes being only powerplant.
      They used to make amazong 5 and 6 cylinder engines that were indestructible until 2014.
      Both petrol and diesel, they sounded great and were very reliable.

      I know they're owned by that despotic hellhole, but from my understanding they're still made and designed in Switzerland. I used to have a massive soft spot for Volvo, but now I wish they'd go bankrupt. I draw the line with cars being owned or made by that filthy and evil country.

      Parent company is Geely, which is Chinese.
      The V60 cc is made and manufactured in Sweden and Belgium. Volvo ownership and management is in Gothenburg, Sweden.
