Agreed. I was bought up on wishbone ash and yes. Metallica 'dual wielding' V's just hits different. Love the V as a shape and the iconic V's that have been out there.

He actually starting using the 89 LP in 89 on the justice tour. You can see it in the Seattle 89 video.
I saw em at Starplex here in Dallas on that tour. It was truly magnificent in scope and power. The entire lawn seating was transformed into 3 bonfires with whirlpools of humanity flowing around them. Security couldnt stop it because there were 3 of them so 2 were burning at all times. It was a sight ro behold
He’s the one that made me want a V in that exact color combo. I’m not a big LP fan but his all black custom is one I do want.
Black Customs are the beast of guitars can't go wrong with one of them bad boys for anything.
@@Jared_Dill I did like to play on a wine red model at my local guitar store but if I ever payed that kind of money it has to be black with blacked out hardware. I used to have a cheap copy years back that had a really cheap burst on it. I put electrical tap all over the top which looked pretty cool I have to be honest and then I would play Fade to Black on it all the time mimicking the Cunning Stunts performance lol. A few years back I bought a used Epiphone Lp standard because it was only $200 but i sold it after a few months because i wasn’t crazy about it, just never felt right to me. Since then I’ve sworn off LPs.
That last black guitar looks like a reworked Moderne with sharper angles and points. Looks like a Gibson logo on headstock too.

Just got tje Les Paul Classic in black. It is a killer guitar. Nothing sounds like a Gibson Les Paul.
During the “Justice” tour, Kirk was using an all black double bound ESP LP copy. If I remember correctly it also had block inlays. I actually thought it was a LP until later I read what it was. He also used several Tom Anderson’s ❤

after talking to Kirk on this M72 tour (yes i bought the 5k package i’m sorry), he actually paid 10 million for this. actual value currently is 30 million :)

I think he used a cherry sunburst LP as well for quite a while in the late 90s to mid 2000s.
Iirc he used it in Manchester back in 2019 for St Anger again last year in America (forgot where) for Dirty Window (I think maybe Frantic as well)

You might already know this but that’s not him on Kill ‘Em All, it might be him tracking. But Dave Mustaine wrote most of the first album. He’s only credited with 4 of the 10 tracks but all of Kirk’s riffs were written by him. And the on the second album he’s credited with at least two songs, so Kirk is just kind of playing what’s on the demos on the first two albums…

Mustaine wrote all guitar parts and solos on kill em all.. excuse me No Life Til Leather. You can get the same tone out of a $400 Epiphone. Just change the tuners pots and pick ups😂. Just a EMG on a Firefly bridge is freaking magic.

greeny is made to play the blues wish it would have gone to a diffirent player but whatever.
Nobody was interested. It was on the market for a while and wasn't selling. Kirk even said that he wasn't interested until the seller brought it over and let him play it.

@@TheErikjsm I hear you. However, nobody was buying. Had Kirk not bought it, we probably would be talking about it. Or, it would have ended up in some rich dudes house where it never got played. I'm glad he's still rocking it. The only blues player wealthy enough to afford it was probably Joe Banamassa. I love blues but I'm not a Banamassa fan. More of a Kingfish or Schofield guy as far as modern blues.

No disrespect to the channel, Kirk nor Metallica. But is it me, or is Kirk's playing getting sloppier? Not only that, but he seems a tad - how do I say this respectfully - 'slurry' in interviews? I dunno, man, for someone that's teetotal and surfs often, he comes across a tad impaired.
Massive caveat: I really like Metallica and have an awful lot of respect for Kirk - sincerely. This is a genuine query, as a fan of both the band and the legend that is KH.
P.S. his black LP Custom is one of my Al time favourite axe owned/used by a pro.

I see that no one has the Brian Jones teardrop guitar. I see the same guitars. Everyone has the same guitars. I would like to see the teardrop guitar. It is probably the most iconic one just based on rarity.
Pretty sure agufish is the only person from my generation with sny respect for gibson. Those boomer guitars are over priced, badly designed, (i.e. lack of volute, headstock break angle for strings), ontop of having very bad qc. You can buy a ltd ec 200, the cheapest ltd single cut, and have a vastly superior guitar to the les paul studio. I love you agufish but quit simping for Gilson.
Nary an ESP to be seen... Weird. FGN ESPs are objectively better in every way, and yet... no soul. Perfection is NEVER 'perfect'.

Keep in mind, he ended up with it because it was for sale and no one was buying. Guy was trying to convince him to buy it and he wasn't interested. Once he played it, it was hooked.
