  • Hello and welcome back to Life In Motion!
    My name's Jack and in this video I answer a few questions that I'm regularly asked on my TH-cam channel and Instagram.
    The more frequently asked question, "Is the Porsche Cayman GTS worth the money" is a tricky one to answer. There are several ways to answer this question and so I have answered with my opinion.
    This car really comes alive the harder you drive it and mix that with it's everyday practicality and it's easy to argue the 718 is one of the best sports cars on the market.
    I hope you enjoy this video. Don't forget to subscribe to see future videos but for now, I'll see you soon!

    Hi Jack, amazing car. I was thinking to get a Porsche cayman GTS as well. May I ask which dealership did you go to ? I completely agree some saleman has no knowledge and passion to sale you at all! What do you think of approved used Porsche from main dealership, do you think it is worth to buy approved used instead of other dealership?

    • @LifeInMotionuk
      @LifeInMotionuk  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks- I bought this car and my previous Cayman from Dick Lovett Porsche in Swindon. I have been looked after by my centre in certain regards, and when buying the car, they have create attractive packages that I was happy with. I do also think there are very good independent dealers that can provide better sales and aftercare service. So many comment on my videos, and I preach myself, which is one of the best things to do is build a relationship with a dealer. Get to know them, go to events they host, speak to them about your future car plans to get them onboard with your journey. I am planning to make a move to another dealer based off an existing relationship and I will make a plan with them about what I want to own - I hope that helps

    Can’t think of where else i’d want to go. In a cayman s now with a GTS on order. There’s pretty much nothing else i’d want to drive, nothing talks to you like it, looks $$$$ with premium quality.

      Great to hear! The GTS seems the ultimate, although I’d like to get my hands on a 991.2 Touring!

      I'm loving my 2018 718 Boxster GTS! That Miami Blue paint is truly the best color I've seen in a long time. Mine is Carerra White Metalic on black leather 18 ways, deletion of Alcantara, leather multifuntion steering wheel, looks right for this color combo. You're Miami blue with Alcantara looks just right from a color coronation perspective. Ironically, being the fashionable person that I've always been (my father is high end a fashion store owner in California) I bought two super nice mint green Northface jackets, about a month ago when I bought it because I wanted to stand out and feel mint. I see, as usual my trends move east....ha ha, or is it the other way around? The only thing I'd hate about your car is the same thing that you'd hate about mine. My 718 is left hand drive, I don't know how the hell you drive that car from the passenger seat 😉

      Great to hear you’re loving your Cayman! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thought about changing the steering wheel to full leather. Although the alcantara looks great, it does hold the dirt! A somewhat funny one, I bought some trainers recently and although slightly unintentionally, they do seem to match the Miami blue! 😂 I was over in Vegas last year and I did take a Ram out for a road trip and I actually loved the drive! I’m a big America fan!

      @Life In Motion Visit Palm Springs, Palm Desert, La Quinta, California. It's like a cross between Vegas and Hollywood with beautiful mountains and hiking, even a tram ride to the top of the mountain, or drive hwy 74. It's a great place to drive too.

    Great video. The dilemma I have at the moment is Cauman GTS or 911 GTS 997.2 Now my friends are saying 911 all the way but I know a Cayman owner who’s had the 911 as well and he says the most fun was the Cayman GTS . I suppose the easy answer is have both 😛

      @@LifeInMotionuk exactly right! I know the moment I'd buy a Cayman I would be lusting after a 911 GTS especially if one drives by me on the road 😄

    Quick answer - yes and I agree to dealership experience it is true hit or miss. What I have noticed - the smaller the dealership, the better the service, but I know that it is also true that no one has sold more McLarens than a Porsche dealership in some instances.

      I do agree that often small teams do tend to provide the service you expect, and should receive!

    I’ve currently got a mega spec 981 Cayman S PDK. I love it but interested to try the 718 GTS 2.5 for something a bit more modern. Im going to test drive on tomorrow. Got a funny feeling about whether I’d totally regret getting rid of my 981 as it’s a beautiful spec. Interested to see the difference in power delivery as the 981 S has to be revved out to the limit so think the 718 will have more usable power. Also worried about the difference in sound as the 981 sounds incredible with the sports exhaust. I guess that’s what a test drive is for!!

    • @LifeInMotionuk
      @LifeInMotionuk  ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay, I must admit having never driven a 981, I couldn’t tell you much but having heard them, they sound superb! Perhaps you need to ensure you don’t compromise if you do go 718! So a friend has a 4.0 GTS and says it does have to be rev’d to enjoy. The 2.5 doesn’t need to rev to gain speed however I would say, it’s turbo means it can sometimes be a non-event when accelerating! I’ve heard the 4.0 is much more of an event, so perhaps you would miss that. Absolutely, get a test drive booked and make sure to comment once you’ve tried it!

      @MrTechMadness ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LifeInMotionuk so I had the test drive today. Must admit really really disliked the car compared to my 981! Definitely not for me. I’m going to be waiting for the 4.0 to come down in price

    Hi Jack, new to the channel & just subscribed, I’m looking for exactly the same car, in Miami blue 🥹 possibly a Cayman S. stage 1 on both gets 430bhp and I think that would be epic.

    It is a nice car but your question is somewhat subjective if it is worth it, I have used delay gratification since 2005 when I first saw the Cayman. I only just managed to JUSTIFY buying a base 987.2 without compromising my monthly investments targets. I bought my Cayman with cash using a small part of my investment interest that compounded since 2005, so my investments were left intact. The cost of PCP personally is prohibitive, I would rather hedge money in commodities, stocks and shares. I still get to enjoy my vintage Cayman on the slow lane with smile 😊 on my face. A win- win for my personal circumstances and I’m sure you happy with your GTS.

    The GTS seems to be holding it's value quite well. A 2019 unit from autotrader is still listing from 52-58k.

    • @LifeInMotionuk
      @LifeInMotionuk  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It did look at the newer 4.0 GTS Cayman and they seemed to struggle a little on residuals…but I have realised on sporty stuff, Porsche like people doing max 8k miles a year, otherwise it gets super expensive (on finance that is)

      Cracking video. Jumped in deep and bought a 2018 v low miles last September. So much dislike for the engine right until they get in it. Was worried about the residuals but looks promising.

    You had a good Good deal.
    Cheapest 718 gts on Porsche used approved is 52k, 7k down and £600 a month for 3 years with a 37k ballon to keep the car. (65k total 😮)

      I believe mine was around £58k, over 4-years with just over 20% deposit - my dealer, Porsche Swindon, do always look after me with the numbers
