    Thanks for doing this comparison of my vehicle against the Emira which I also had a deposit on. It came down to dealer network and the more subtle stealthy look of the Cayman. The Emira is definitely a looker and would turn too many heads for my liking. I just wished they offered PCCB for my model year only the 2020’s had them. The brake dust on the black wheels is a nightmare!

    I got the Cayman GTS 4.0 as well. For one, I did have my name in the bucket for an Emira, as well, but the experience is just non-existent? no nothing for a year and I'm like whatever, I'm over it. Where as Porsche experience is... more than just the car itself. Lotus, it's just the car and that's it. 2. The Porsche, even though it can just be a fun weekend car, it can also be a daily. Where as, the Lotus, even with it being much more refined, somehow to me it feels like a second car at best to me. 3. Even between mid-engined cars, there are mid-engined cars that make you feel like you're sitting on the nose of the car over the front axle vs the Cayman that still makes you feel like you're also in the middle of the car. and that changes the dynamics for me dramatically. to me, the cayman rotates around you vs the Emira feels a bit more like the rear swings around you. It's hard to explain... 3. The engine.. my gawd the engine... The Lotus, even when supercharged, it's basically the same engine family as my old IS350, my Tacoma - the 2GR-xxx 3.5L v6. Really not special at all. I don't want to pay $100k and when I park the Emira next to my Tacoma know in my hear that the two have the same heart. 4. Yes the Emira looks like an exotic car, but Even the cayman in the right bright color looks amazing. Mine is Lava Orange. and just last week, a dude in a blue Range Rover stopped me on the street and asked what color it was and said "that car is fcking hot man! fcking hot!". In the right color the Cayman also turns all kinds of heads.

    I lean (no pun intended) to do track days on my GSXR. This GTS 4.0 would be the ideal daily I think. So, like you said if you're not tracking the car this is the one to get. It is tempting to pony up 5k more here, 5k more there and 10 min later on the Porsche website you've spec'd out a 300k car; this seems to be the attainable sweetspot imho. Naturally aspirated flat 6 w that manual sounds like heaven, also Porsche reliability comparatively!

    I got Cayman. Mostly because it was available for a test drive and there was at least some sort of deadline for delivery. But overall even if I had options, I'd still go for Cayman, because PDK is better than torque converter that goes with V6. I also like the subtle looks more, and the practicality is much better. Had it for 2 weeks, couldn't be happier with it.

    I own a 2.5 cayman GTS and love it. The torque band, the steering, the balance… it’s nimble and quick and a blast to whip in and out of traffic. I split it as daily driver use with a few other cars I have. I just drove from Savannah Georgia to Orlando fl on 1 tank of gas round trip. That’s insane!
    The exhaust note isn’t “as” good as a 6 or 8, obviously, but it honestly still sounds great. I also have a flat 6 992, and a Shelby GT350.. and as glorious as those are, the 4cyl does not dissapoint

    • @1ROCKY89
      @1ROCKY89 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I know what you’re saying. The more you step on it the better the sounds. The 2.5 it fits my BGTS so well its so light and quick at everything. I opted for the PDk because it is so dang fast. Unless you actually drive this car spirited will you understand its 911 Turbo S VTG derived benefits - near zero lag full torque beginning at 1900 rpm all the way to 5500. That’s this model appeal. I am still quite fond of my manual 987.1 CS 3.4 and manual M3 sedan V8 for their sounds and driving characteristics as well. If I had room for a fourth I would strongly consider the manual 4.0 or the Emira or possibly an Exige. Should I consider trading the 2.5 for the 4.0 for a 40k trade premium? Absolutely not. What if the cost was zero would I go for the 4.0? I cant say because I haven’t driven the 4.0. I do know that I am very happy with what I have. Ok well how about the CS 3.4 for a CGTS for an 80k trade premium? Definitely if I could have just one sports car otherwise no I’m good with the 3.4. I smile every time I drive it. Anyway they are all great cars and the Shelby GT350 sounds like a real privilege as well.

    I had a deposit down on an Emira but got cold feet and bought one of these. I tested the Emira and it was every bit a very special car, amazing looks, steering, interior, feel, sound (love the SC wheeze) but I just wasn’t comfortable spending that amount of money on something that seemed to be a bit flaky still, maybe after a year or so of production they will be better. Each time I went to see it there was a small issue (it wouldn’t turn on one time, or the boot wouldn’t open were two problems). The GTS is in my mind is almost perfect, doesn’t look or feel quite as special and the steering isn’t as ‘alive’ as the Lotus (but the Emira can be a bit twitchy, I guess you get used to it) but the build quality is absolutely fantastic, the stereo (Bose in mine) is great and it is far more easy to live with - better storage and your stuff doesn’t get wet when you open the boot (crazy design flaw on the lotus). The Emira is an incredible car and I love it but it’s not for me. My GTS is Python green and all black (callipers, Porsche logo etc) and I love it! Nice video :)

      @@jubbalandcars From what I have seen in reviews and on forums there are a few minor issues on the stereo (not that you buy a car like this for the radio) wiper controls not working, ECU issues, trim coming off and there seems to be a design issue with the rear boot lid that when there is water there and you open the rear to get to the boot the water goes over the motor and into the boot. Compare that to the build quality of the Porsche and there is no competition.

    I am biased, as i have a 2015 Boxster GTS, manual transmission and i have a 2024Boxster GTS 4.0 on order. It took me almost two years to decide what to buy and the Emira was second on the list. The deciding factor is build quality. With a low production British car you must count on quality issues, ranging from electrical issues to trim issues and everything-in between. When i go for a drive i want to enjoy the drive and not worry about breakdowns or get annoyed with squeaks or rattles. Although the Emira beats the Boxster in looks every day, looking at the car in the garage being repaired gets long in the tooth quickly, hence my choice for Porsche. As an FYI with 40,000 km’s on the clock, never over the last 8 years did i have a problem with the Porsche period.

    Not sure what to say. I prefer cayman S, it is not much slower, not a fan of a linear acceleration either, and much more gas consumption (I know to get a porsche is not to save gas). I am actually regret to switch from Cayman S to GTS4.0, 20k+ is not worth totally. Just my opinion.

      Yup. Even the base Cayman is an exceptional car. You buy it for mid-engine driving dynamics, the chassis and suspension. I've driven both GTS 2.5 and 4.0, and both engines are great honestly. If I had a Cayman, I would not switch to 4.0, but if ordering new and you can jump to 4.0, it's the one to get.

    The gearing on this car is ludicrous and wrong. You cannot enjoy the high revving engine and get out of 2nd gear without breaking the speed limit. That's crazy, you have 4 unusable gears.
