I came here expecting someone to start bashing western astrology ( which I know more about and have studied longer) Recently I met a friend who swears Vedic is "the one true astrology" so naturally I became a bit annoyed cause as you said it's like saying what I learned an worked hard to understand was stupid or useless but they made me curious an I respect them despite their current obsession with the Vedic ways. I'm glad you made this video an shared such great perspective. I'm the type who wants to study all views an also want to honor all culture's studies/knowledge. I am an indian and I like vedic astrology, but it not about accurate, it's about method of observation. Also if you check western horoscope on how you "feel" and behave, its actually pretty spot on too....western is more feminine in nature, Indian is actually bit more superior and more masculine in nature
because tropical astro is a more about the earthly things. so its more ego.. so more about the mind then about the soul. But your mind can be rewired. So if you live more in your ego, jou will mostly be Tropical sign but then again not everyone resonates with Sidereal astro as other people really dont resonate with Tropical. then you've people that resonates with boths.

What blows my mind about astrology is there's endless amount of combinations (conjunctions, aspects, degrees, etc) and then an individual with his or her own chart/karmas is thrown into this world surrounded by people with their own chart/karmas. Consequently, I believe, other people affect other people and environment affect us, to a certain extent; But, of course the individual still has his or her own chart/karma they have to deal with on a personal level regardless of outside influences. That' one reason why I think astrologers have challenges with other people's charts because of maybe influence from the world around them. I don't know if this makes sense. It does to me. Ha. Anyways, I think Astrology is so fun because we're constantly learning new things. And thanks to you, Ryan K., I've learned a lot about astrology and you've given me new perspectives on life and living. Thank you. Blessings!
You are right on point. We are always interacting with everyone elses Zodiac and that impacts our own, to treat the chart in isolation is the reason so many people are isolated and don't benefit from the work.
That is exactly what I do, now I am completing my western, vedic & tropical based on whatever come to me every day .. Vedic Astrology is fast becoming Western Astrology since so many in the West are studying Jyotish. Even the Indians are picking up Western techniques like dynamic house cusps (KP System) and AstroCartoGraphy. Also, Traditional Western is making a resurgence.

Hello Ryan, I've not seen your videos to the completion till to date and that I must say is a mistake. This is the first time I've seen your video to the last second. I'm very impressed with the way you explained the 2 systems and the way to approach the science of astrology. I'm humbled and take the same learning to apply in any facet of life. I've had my initiation in KP system of astrology. I'm now motivated to learn more about science of astrology. Thanks for your guidance.
What brought me here as a western astrologer (since 1999) is the fact that I could never quite get to really feel my “Venus in Scorpio” and “Moon in Leo”. I started to *try* to be the Venus in Scorpio and Moon in Leo perhaps subconsciously. Then, I got very disillusioned with the way that astrologers explained those two placements (esp Venus in Scorpio). I felt like I just wasn’t the person they were explaining. There were some elements…I do have Pluto right on my Libra Sun by less than one degree, but I just couldn’t see the Venus part. Anyway, you explained this so well and I really feel like it has peeked my interest to learn more now more than ever!
I just really don't resonate with my Vedic placements. I'm a Pisces Sun/Moon in Western but Aquarius Sun/Moon in Vedic. I'm emotional af and not the least bit scientific. I go with how I feel, not how I think. And the houses in my Western chart match me to a T.

Same here. I actually tried so hard to resonate and make myself believe that it is what I am, with the Aquarius Sun in my Vedic chart and failed miserably so many times. I do have Mercury in Aquarius and I am very scientific in thought, but the emotional part is just too damn strong that very often I work so hard and gather every possible logically 'fathomable' fact about something and then just disregard it entirely and go with emotion😅. Although, I have learned to be better at stopping my emotional reactions. I used to think about myself as an unemotional stone only to completely breakdown often when the emotional buildup is high enough. My Pisces sun in tropical is just undeniable. I had a bias for the Vedic chart since I am an Indian. I have finally come to terms with myself and stopped running away from myself and pretending.
Im new to the study/science and questioned which to begin with. To my current understanding Tropical relates most closely to the development of the ego until one is able to consciously navigate the soul's lead. Then esoteric/vedic astrology can be implemented as it maps the soul's journey. If humans utilized the birth chart as a tool from the moment of birth vedic/esoteric would be most beneficial as the personality/ego would know its purpose. Therefore, negating the need for a western reading. I really appreciate your work. Thank you for sharing your insights. Much appreciated.

Yeah I definitely understand this guy nice video. My feelings on Western and tropical astrology is both of the systems work in there own way both really not much of a difference yes sun signs change but if you really pay more attention to details and analyze your birthday chart with both systems you'd understand why. Like for instance yes tropical astrology got me as a sun libra 12th house vidic im a virgo 12th house. What is confusing for me is that if I check out a tropical chart, my accendant is Cancer and sunsign Libra, and in a sidereal chart it is Gemini with sunsign Virgo .
The part I can't understand in vedic astrology is why they think Pluto, Uranus , Neptune aren't enough important.In my personal experience, the influence of Uranus and Pluto is fundamental. because they are generational, i mean they are so slow that they stay in the same sign years and years and years by other hand the Moon is so important because it changes sign every two days or so, so those outer planters are very very general,. i mean all the people who now are at the age 21, 22, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30 all of them have Pluto in Scorpio, (Tropically speaking) but not all of them share the same Moon sign, so is irrelevant
I have come to these EXACT same conclusions especially when waking in nature, I see how each tradition. Zodiac or house system are all incredibly needed unique and beautiful parts of the whole. But none of it truly matters unless we are using for our ability to choose and perceive how to work with our ingredients as you said.

Native American here 🙋. And I'm gonna tell my story real quick. Born and raised Native American. Proud bloodline of Sioux and Chippewa. I was brought up catholic as a child. Teenage years I was interested in the native Sioux way but knew nothing about it. So I studied the Nakota/Lakota language went to a few sweats but something inside me wanted to learn more. Then I started to read the book of witch craft by Raymond Buckland. I learned the basics of spirituality which eventually lead me to Bruce Lee and from that point on I started to learn mediation and from that I have learned Reiki energy healing, numerology, reflexology, tarot, archangels, angel numbers, crystals, sound healing, holistic healings, basically everyway to heal in a higher level/dimension which ik there are plenty more ways that I haven't learned yet. So I understand when you say that there are many people who think that there is one way to it all. It's really hard to explain in words to what I'm tryna say on this subject. Jus know that you are supported and loved❤️ there is so much more to what I would love to talk about. But I can only say so much through typing 😊
It would be helpful if modern Western astrologers would go back to true Ptolemaic astrology which was based on Aristotel's natural philosophy. Thus the invention of the tropical zodiac as a seasonal zodiac. Ptolemy never claimed that his kind of astrology was good for precise predictions. The whole beginning of the Tetrabiblos talks about the effect of the planets on the weather and the elemental nature of life on earth. It's whole lot different from Hindu astrology, it's another kind of astrology that can easily exist alongside sidereal astrology without any contradictions.
Very late to the party as I see this video was made around 7 years ago! I love all the points you made... when I "fell"into Vedic astrology/ Jyotish a few years ago I suddenly felt that all was aligned and felt that sidereal was the REAL astrology - you hit the nail on the head because I had become very disillusioned with my own roots and culture...due to my background / upbringing astrology was kind of forbidden... it was very hidden and I was led to believe it was a load of mumbo jumbo... I NEVER took astrology serious until I stumbled on Vedic astrology - I pretty much was ignorant to it's complexities and depth... fast forward to now and some of my favourite astrologers are in fact using western calculations and depending on the astrologer I find I resonate with both! BUT I do love studying the Vedic way of calculations... and this is the method that I continue to explore because this is mind boggling enough on its own... I have a fascination with Yoga and anything associated with it.. I also love the nakshatras. I envisage astrology as kind of moving parts of a much greater machine - we are barely scratching the surface... with the Tropical zodiac moving back by a degree every 72 years I envisage that every 25,920 years (72x360) the two systems once again align and I wonder if this is a kind of GOLDEN epoch?! Kind of speculating a little but I recon the ancients KNEW about precession - what little I know (and its tiny) I think time HAS to be cyclical and just from historical videos and bits and pieces I have been reading I think you can see it in the remains left from ages gone by (eg the AGE of Leo/ or the big Cat possibly being when the pyramids and the sphinx were built? Maybe I am being a bit overly imaginative but its a thought) Could we be just leaving the "AGE OF THE FISH"... (fish iconography in quite a lot of cultures including that of christianity...) @VicDiCaraAstrology I believe uses the Tropical calculations along with the ancient nakshatras. I like to think of it as the nakshatras being fixed regardless - its just the coordinates that change depending on the lens you happen to be gazing through ANYWAY thank you great video and I will be following and listening to more 🙏🤍

Western and Chinese astrology complement each other. Alone, they are inferior to Vedic astrology but when combined, (in my opinion) it creates a system superior to Vedic astrology.

Hi Ryan! Thank you always for sharing your insights on the two systems. The use of both systems to find where there is confluence is clear. However, could you please offer your opinion on both systems regarding the astronomical point of view? That is to say, the precession of the equinox is a fact, and stating that a particular planet (i.e. Sun) in different signs between the tropical and sidereal lead to the same reading isn't clear for me. I have also heard that sidereal astrology is associated to the native as a spiritual entity, while the tropical is more psychological... Could this be the reason for the apparent paradox?

@@nrivera3604 Moon sign is just your mind. Moon sign has no much importance in vedic astrology. Ascendant is the most important everything shud be checked from ascendant.
I have had readings with different astrologers and none have really predicted anything correctly. What they all do is they ask u what the reading is for, and then find astrological reasons for that event and thats that. In a way it seems they are still doing their research. I have never met an astrologer that would shock me with accurate predictions.

I do recall getting my ass handed to me for identifying myself as Aquarius Sun with a birthday of Jan 21 on a Vedic astrologers channel. Honestly, I was surprised to see such division and controversy over which one was better and is the correct one … etc … etc …etc ! I agree that we can integrate them and learn what is applicable to us.
You have good thoughts on the matter. However, who is properly documenting the accuracy of readings? I often hear claims of how accurate readings are becoming because of computers and the ability to cast charts quickly utilize so many more calculations like Shad Bala, Divisional charts, and easily calculating dashas, run solar returns and to search for yogas. All the calculations can be quickly reported and interpreted. But I have yet to see proper evidence that supports the actual claims of improved accuracy. It is mostly astrologers claiming their readings are more accurate. While Ernst Wilhelm suggests a good technique is 80% accurate Vic Dicara believes that even 10% accuracy is respectable. I lean towards Ernst's view, but regardless, there seems to be little documented evidence to support any claims of accuracy. Are you aware of proper research to substantiate any claims of accuracy or is it mostly just word of mouth?
I agree with you. To date, I am not aware of this. I would like to see it happen too. Ideally, part of the apprenticeship program idea, is to eventually train astrologers who can apply research like this. It needs done.
Can you compare this to western medicine vs Eastern medicine? Both use different approach to curing a disease. I remember when I was young, when I got the flu, she will take me to see a western doctor, who prescribes antibiotic pills, then after the antibiotics are completed. I will be 70% recovered, but still have 30% symptoms Eg, lingering cough. she will then take me to see Chinese doctor who will prescribe traditional herbal medicine that requires brewing into soup. I took it and sure enough, within days my last 30% of symptoms cleared up. This means by actually using both Western and Eastern medicine approach, I got cured completely.
The signs and houses in western astrology are different from the ones in Vedic astrology. I mean, according to western astrology I'm a scorpio whereas in Vedic astrology I'm a libra! How could this be possible? The same person with a fixed birth date, time, and place has a totally different character according to the different astrological approaches! Am I a scorpio or a libra? Which one is true? There is no such thing in science. Different methodologies never come up with totally different results in science! So please do not refer to science when you talk about astrology.

Chinese Astrology divided people by every 2 hour so every person who born in the same 2 hour section are the SAME person. To interpretation the same deep in details like Western,Vedic you have to use 10 Chinese numbers+Face reading+Palm reading together. Sad things is there is many Chinese Astrology Book was write "Invert" what good write bad, what bad write good. They did this because when China Emperor defeat by white invaders, they fear foreigners will steal their knowledge but not knowing this action will destroyed themselves when those invert book spread and time has pass to era that nobody can tell which one is original. And got entirely doomed for long time now.

Yeah I think Vedic is bs I got on a blog and they told me my love life must be crap because my moons in Pisces and rising sun and Venus in Cancer in Vedic . I’m with my high school sweet heart and getting married next year so I say different. It s really a serious subject....when telling someone they re aries when in truth the sun at time of birth moved to Piscis...scientifically speaking Shouldn’t we look at the real position of the sun in the zodiac belt? Shouldn’t we recognize the alchemical change that our universe is going through..as the zodiac belt actually precesses or travels vackwards around our Milcky way? I don’t understand why that is not considered important? The true position of the zodiac belt... We might be very much influenced by the past,,,the last 2000 years..mentally speaking that we identify with th tropical astrology, merely cause we have stopped evolving...it s scarry..isnt? Maybe the sideral position does force us to move or change or come out of our comfort zone..or tradition, mental habits..inheritance of our ancestors... Sometimes some people don't fully resonate with something an astrologer tells them because their charts don't show that one concentrated path, like you said in one of your videos... I guess those are the people who think that none of the astrologers are giving accurate information...
What if Western Astrology pertains to people in the western world, and Vedic pertains to the Eastern world? Western astrology always seems relevant to me and my friends living in the western world as opposed to Vedic. Just a theory.
I would accept that if we were to treat astrology as a religion, and maybe I'm wrong to think it should not be thought of that way, but for something to be a science the variables need to be consistent despite culture or way of life. Is there a different set of Chemistry rules for Easterners?

Hello Ryan, I've not seen your videos to the completion till to date and that I must say is a mistake. This is the first time I've seen your video to the last second. I'm very impressed with the way you explained the 2 systems and the way to approach the science of astrology. I'm humbled and take the same learning to apply in any facet of life. What brought me here as a western astrologer (since 1999) is the fact that I could never quite get to really feel my “Venus in Scorpio” and “Moon in Leo”. I started to *try* to be the Venus in Scorpio and Moon in Leo perhaps subconsciously. Then, I got very disillusioned with the way that astrologers explained those two placements (esp Venus in Scorpio). I felt like I just wasn’t the person they were explaining. There were some elements…I do have Pluto right on my Libra Sun by less than one degree, but I just couldn’t see the Venus part.
Anyway, you explained this so well and I really feel like it has peeked my interest to learn more now more than ever!
I just really don't resonate with my Vedic placements. I'm a Pisces Sun/Moon in Western but Aquarius Sun/Moon in Vedic. I'm emotional af and not the least bit scientific. I go with how I feel, not how I think. And the houses in my Western chart match me to a T.

Same here. I actually tried so hard to resonate and make myself believe that it is what I am, with the Aquarius Sun in my Vedic chart and failed miserably so many times. I do have Mercury in Aquarius and I am very scientific in thought, but the emotional part is just too damn strong that very often I work so hard and gather every possible logically 'fathomable' fact about something and then just disregard it entirely and go with emotion😅. Although, I have learned to be better at stopping my emotional reactions. I used to think about myself as an unemotional stone only to completely breakdown often when the emotional buildup is high enough. My Pisces sun in tropical is just undeniable. I had a bias for the Vedic chart since I am an Indian. I have finally come to terms with myself and stopped running away from myself and pretending.
Im new to the study/science and questioned which to begin with. To my current understanding Tropical relates most closely to the development of the ego until one is able to consciously navigate the soul's lead. Then esoteric/vedic astrology can be implemented as it maps the soul's journey.
If humans utilized the birth chart as a tool from the moment of birth vedic/esoteric would be most beneficial as the personality/ego would know its purpose. Therefore, negating the need for a western reading.

What is confusing for me is that if I check out a tropical chart, my accendant is Cancer and sunsign Libra, and in a sidereal chart it is Gemini with sunsign Virgo .

The part I can't understand in vedic astrology is why they think Pluto, Uranus , Neptune aren't enough important.In my personal experience, the influence of Uranus and Pluto is fundamental. I have come to these EXACT same conclusions especially when waking in nature, I see how each tradition. Zodiac or house system are all incredibly needed unique and beautiful parts of the whole.

Native American here 🙋. And I'm gonna tell my story real quick. Born and raised Native American. Proud bloodline of Sioux and Chippewa. I was brought up catholic as a child. Teenage years I was interested in the native Sioux way but knew nothing about it. So I studied the Nakota/Lakota language went to a few sweats but something inside me wanted to learn more. Then I started to read the book of witch craft by Raymond Buckland. I learned the basics of spirituality which eventually lead me to Bruce Lee and from that point on I started to learn mediation and from that I have learned Reiki energy healing, numerology, reflexology, tarot, archangels, angel numbers, crystals, sound healing, holistic healings, basically everyway to heal in a higher level/dimension which ik there are plenty more ways that I haven't learned yet. So I understand when you say that there are many people who think that there is one way to it all. It's really hard to explain in words to what I'm tryna say on this subject. Jus know that you are supported and loved❤️ there is so much more to what I would love to talk about. But I can only say so much through typing 😊

It would be helpful if modern Western astrologers would go back to true Ptolemaic astrology which was based on Aristotel's natural philosophy. Thus the invention of the tropical zodiac as a seasonal zodiac. Ptolemy never claimed that his kind of astrology was good for precise predictions. The whole beginning of the Tetrabiblos talks about the effect of the planets on the weather and the elemental nature of life on earth. It's whole lot different from Hindu astrology, it's another kind of astrology that can easily exist alongside sidereal astrology without any contradictions.

Very late to the party as I see this video was made around 7 years ago! I love all the points you made... when I "fell"into Vedic astrology/ Jyotish a few years ago I suddenly felt that all was aligned and felt that sidereal was the REAL astrology - you hit the nail on the head because I had become very disillusioned with my own roots and culture...due to my background / upbringing astrology was kind of forbidden... it was very hidden and I was led to believe it was a load of mumbo jumbo... I NEVER took astrology serious until I stumbled on Vedic astrology - I pretty much was ignorant to it's complexities and depth... fast forward to now and some of my favourite astrologers are in fact using western calculations and depending on the astrologer I find I resonate with both! BUT I do love studying the Vedic way of calculations... and this is the method that I continue to explore because this is mind boggling enough on its own... I have a fascination with Yoga and anything associated with it.. I also love the nakshatras. I envisage astrology as kind of moving parts of a much greater machine - we are barely scratching the surface... with the Tropical zodiac moving back by a degree every 72 years I envisage that every 25,920 years (72x360) the two systems once again align and I wonder if this is a kind of GOLDEN epoch?! Kind of speculating a little but I recon the ancients KNEW about precession - what little I know (and its tiny) I think time HAS to be cyclical and just from historical videos and bits and pieces I have been reading I think you can see it in the remains left from ages gone by (eg the AGE of Leo/ or the big Cat possibly being when the pyramids and the sphinx were built? Maybe I am being a bit overly imaginative but its a thought) Could we be just leaving the "AGE OF THE FISH"... (fish iconography in quite a lot of cultures including that of christianity...)
@VicDiCaraAstrology I believe uses the Tropical calculations along with the ancient nakshatras. I like to think of it as the nakshatras being fixed regardless - its just the coordinates that change depending on the lens you happen to be gazing through

Western and Chinese astrology complement each other. Alone, they are inferior to Vedic astrology but when combined, (in my opinion) it creates a system superior to Vedic astrology.

Hi Ryan! Thank you always for sharing your insights on the two systems. The use of both systems to find where there is confluence is clear. However, could you please offer your opinion on both systems regarding the astronomical point of view? That is to say, the precession of the equinox is a fact, and stating that a particular planet (i.e. Sun) in different signs between the tropical and sidereal lead to the same reading isn't clear for me. I have also heard that sidereal astrology is associated to the native as a spiritual entity, while the tropical is more psychological... Could this be the reason for the apparent paradox?

I am not biased but western has lots of concepts missing. There jealousy doesn't let them accept that.
I have had readings with different astrologers and none have really predicted anything correctly. What they all do is they ask u what the reading is for, and then find astrological reasons for that event and thats that. In a way it seems they are still doing their research. I have never met an astrologer that would shock me with accurate predictions.
Or... some peoples chart indicate no matter what, it won't work for them. How is your Jupiter and 5th house tropically?

Honestly, I was surprised to see such division and controversy over which one was better and is the correct one … etc … etc …etc ! I agree that we can integrate them and learn what is applicable to us.
You have good thoughts on the matter. However, who is properly documenting the accuracy of readings? I often hear claims of how accurate readings are becoming because of computers and the ability to cast charts quickly utilize so many more calculations like Shad Bala, Divisional charts, and easily calculating dashas, run solar returns and to search for yogas. All the calculations can be quickly reported and interpreted. But I have yet to see proper evidence that supports the actual claims of improved accuracy. It is mostly astrologers claiming their readings are more accurate. While Ernst Wilhelm suggests a good technique is 80% accurate Vic Dicara believes that even 10% accuracy is respectable. I lean towards Ernst's view, but regardless, there seems to be little documented evidence to support any claims of accuracy. Are you aware of proper research to substantiate any claims of accuracy or is it mostly just word of mouth?
I agree with you. To date, I am not aware of this. I would like to see it happen too. Ideally, part of the apprenticeship program idea, is to eventually train astrologers who can apply research like this. It needs done.

Can you compare this to western medicine vs Eastern medicine? Both use different approach to curing a disease. I remember when I was young, when I got the flu, she will take me to see a western doctor, who prescribes antibiotic pills, then after the antibiotics are completed. I will be 70% recovered, but still have 30% symptoms Eg, lingering cough. she will then take me to see Chinese doctor who will prescribe traditional herbal medicine that requires brewing into soup. I took it and sure enough, within days my last 30% of symptoms cleared up. This means by actually using both Western and Eastern medicine approach, I got cured completely.

The signs and houses in western astrology are different from the ones in Vedic astrology. I mean, according to western astrology I'm a scorpio whereas in Vedic astrology I'm a libra! How could this be possible? The same person with a fixed birth date, time, and place has a totally different character according to the different astrological approaches! Am I a scorpio or a libra? Which one is true? There is no such thing in science. Different methodologies never come up with totally different results in science! So please do not refer to science when you talk about astrology.

Chinese Astrology divided people by every 2 hour so every person who born in the same 2 hour section are the SAME person. To interpretation the same deep in details like Western,Vedic you have to use 10 Chinese numbers+Face reading+Palm reading together.

What if Western Astrology pertains to people in the western world, and Vedic pertains to the Eastern world? Western astrology always seems relevant to me and my friends living in the western world as opposed to Vedic. Just a theory.
