      I'd be afraid to fly it. I can't imagine how many hours of work went into this. It's fascinating too to get to see the real life color of the German lozenge camouflage. I have read a great deal about the Zeppelin Staaken aircraft, and at a glance they look like they would have so much drag as to be impossible to fly. This scale model proves otherwise.

  • @black_baron_net

    ☠BLACK BARON☠ 5:00 ... If you would see this artistic wingspan today in 1/1 size ... speechless how they managed this masterpiece of wingspan in the early days of aviation. True engineering, literally with the engineers sitting in between the engines. My compliments to the scale model artists 👍 ... A little more Expo on the elevator or an "Agility" could help to make it a bit smoother for landings.

    • @rcplanedisplay
      @rcplanedisplay  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, yes, its a great plane and the original is huge. The elevator is tricky because of the propwash at different rpm I asume. Thanks for watching and have a Good Day !

    • @black_baron_net
      @black_baron_net ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rcplanedisplay ☠BLACK BARON☠ 6:27 ... some pilots give a little more thrust for landings to avoid the speed of the airplane decreasing too much. The two pull props, especially the two push props at the back are narrow positioned towards the fuselage. A lot of thrust will be pushed fitfully in direction of the elevator behind resulting in more aerodynamics output for the same angle of attack of the elevator rudders. Making the elevator less aggressive on the RC sticks could help.

    It looks to to me as if it could use a bit if rudder to aileron mixing or differential in the ailerons to stop the adverse yaw, adverse yaw is quite common in airplanes with flat botton airfoils and much more noticeable in BIG models with a long wingspan than it is in smaller ones. But what do I know I was not there and I have not flown it. SUPPER LOOKING model with a boat load of work building, it must take all day just to assembel and disassemble.

      Tail heavy, nose heavy, what does it matter who cares? it's not a big deal. The point is to save this superb model from damage or destruction if one of The Landings happens to slam the nose into the ground. Not to mention it will fly better. All that is required is some nose weight and you have a successful long-lasting model

    • @tim7052

This is the BIGGEST model, (flying, or not) I've ever seen 😲!!!So, it's a "Junker's"??? I had to read the German description, to achieve this info. It was left out of the, English pronunciations!!!!

    It appears to be slightly nose heavy? Or is that just the way, it was designed to fly, I noticed some sea soaring especially coming in for a landing, the CG perhaps a little out of range under or over? Great flying I've made it other comment, on this clip under somebody else's comment concerning the activity if you want to look for it. August 23rd 2022

      The planes team figured out the best cg by flight testing, should be ok ! Have a Good Day !

  • @captainaxle438
    @captainaxle438 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    The porpoising on Landing is because it is tail heavy. TH-cam is full of videos of tail heavy models and many crash on first flight. Nose heavy flies, tail heavy does not. You do not balance a scale model dead level like you balance a 3D stunt plane. Nose heavy is for stability. Multi-engine models do have more sensitive elevators because of the prop blast but that is simply compensated by less travel. Many expert modelers still do not understand how to balance a scale model. The most misunderstood aspect of model airplanes and the most common cause of crashes

    • @rcplanedisplay
      @rcplanedisplay  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you seem to be right on observing that, maybe they will adjust cg for the next flight. Have a Good Day !

    • @captainaxle438
      @captainaxle438 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@rcplanedisplay thank you. It is a tail dragger with a nose wheel assist, early airplane design. It is tail heavy enough to affect landings and I believe that it's size gives it enough stability to survive so far. The real airplanes are designed to balance around their heavy engines that's why a scale model requires nose weight because the model engine is not nearly as heavy

    • @airman9820
      @airman9820 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@captainaxle438 You are incorrect the real one sits on the tail as well. The upper wing is so high up when tail is lowered it moves the cg behind the wheels when plane go level cg is in correct position. I have a ov10 bronco that will set on the tail because the gear is so long, but the cg is perfect for flying. If plane had a rear cg you would notice in flight but it looks very stable. My guess when he comes off the power the nose wants to drop and he adds elevator to counter causing the up and down. Ive been flying rc for 40 years so I pretty much can tell whats going on. Ive seen it all.

    • @captainaxle438
      @captainaxle438 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@airman9820 I think you seen nothing and that you know nothing that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard an ov10 Bronco that sits on its tail. Yes this old airplane is a tail dragger with nose wheel assist. A bronco is not. Maybe if your bronco is electric, with the batteries out of it it will sit on tail, maybe you never notice the difference, probably someone else's model you seen. If you can not recognize a tail-heavy model porpoising on landing approach then you really have not learned anything in your "40 years" of armchair quarterbacking. I know you! you're the guy at the Airfield that's the least skilled with the most knowledge. Every field has these "expert" untalented blowhards, always crashing and clowning, troll

    • @shelbyseelbach9568
      @shelbyseelbach9568 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's weird, since it obviously flew. Tail heavy will fly. The more trail heavy, the not unstable, and a typing point will be reached. But, make no mistake about it, trail heavy WILL fly. The ACTUAL saying is, nose heavy flies, trail heavy rarely flies twice. But, even then it can fly twice so.......

      It's never way too many hours, when you love what you doing, it's a great feeling of satisfaction, when you finish and show the project to others. You develop a deep love for the activity once you get involved it's addictive for sure. People that have built models from scratch or from friends provided by various companies gets in the beginning, it just gives a great sense of accomplishment. God bless all the RC Pilots, that are no longer with us from Old School. In my opinion today, people no longer build from scratch, or from RC kits, or even from, arf, almost ready to fly. Today most of the planes, or made of foam, and are electric. It's like flying a toy. To me there's no real great satisfaction or accomplishment, from buying a plane in a box already assembled and ready to fly right out of the box. When I go to the field I have almost nothing in common, with the RC Pilots that are out there. All as I know is make the plane fly fast who has the biggest battery, nothing to do with aerodynamics, building techniques tuning an engine Etc. Us old school Pilots, are very rare these days unfortunately. Then AMA member since 1971.
