Getting out of the box, is to have the courage to be different and remain true to your self. That is what for me meant this film. Decide to be different, to think outside of the box, to escape that box filled with limitations from society but also from our own self perceptions and the limitations we imposed to ourselves and project into others. You were born to be different!!
Notice who the main character in this short film is! All the comments below focus on the kid that got out, but the main character _isn't_ him; it's the one in the middle of the 7x7 box, the one who is directly under the light, the one the film starts with. Most of the film is a flashback explaining why he was having "nightmares" in the beginning. The main message _isn't_ about how society tried and failed to suppress the individuality of the kid that got out--that's a old cliché. Rather, it's about how the main character, who represents most of us in society, was ultimately influenced by that kid despite being initially annoyed at him. In a way, the kid that got out was luckier than the others both in terms of disposition and circumstance--like how everyone laughing at him provoked him to remember his identity before the hole closed--but the film suggests that there is _hope_ for the others in that they might eventually be inspired to break free as well. The post-credits scene then shows that it's not just our main character, but others in the box as well who have been influenced. One might even infer that his simple-mindedness (he's the one who never knows when to stop) gives him fewer barriers towards achieving self-actualization.
I thought it was the other old guy who kept singing and laughing late, and gets elbowed a lot. The intro was his, not the Anomalous Kid's neighbor who was under the direct light.
So basically... the machine = society the odd one = a dreamer the others = average folks who gave up on dreams a long time ago the box = phony limitations box-shaped heads = thinking inside the box (and being punished for not doing so) bright eyes = hope, happiness and a sense of wonder I wonder where he went...
He got out of the box - the box of same old miserable reality people accept as the only choice they have, he ascended, he evolve, he made a choice - he chose to be different and not fall back into the norms of complacency of the old way of life or accepting he could not change anything for the better. They tried to make him like them and their view of life and to fit into their beliefs, they tried to stop him expressing himself and what made him unique so as to make him the same as them. This is what happens to every child to make them fit in to the prescribed view of how things should be. This is for all those people who get bullied and ostracized for being different and for not fitting in the same box as everyone else.
This represents how as a kid we always having fun and ideas around. But the world which has more failed people around will pull you down but when you overcome it, you are the leader and everyone will follow you. Beautiful lesson
Did anyone notice, that when he was a child, he was at front of the box. When he became middle aged, he was in middle. Also, he suffered immense pain when he was crushed, and instead of succumbing to the pain and the peer pressure, he utilized his pain to overcome the situation he was in and free himself. That's a beautiful depiction of society. Absolutely loved it.
Notice, he also grew "Too big for his britches," (aka, breeches), as my Grandfather used to say of any smart-mouthed kids. The head-pounding not only flattened his head, but it made him hunched over and shorter, like the rest.

This story "The Box" is so well-written that shows the true reality of the world and how people are contaminated with envious nature. They cannot tolerate the other's positive well beings that they think they can not achieve. They practice every possible ways to drag other down into their level. Despite all the scrutiny and difficulties, one gets the success if he is determined and unaffected by the other's opinions.

Reminds me of today’s social media; people won’t even be there but will automatically think they know everything and will react in the same way as those around them, not even knowing why they’re doing it.
It's sad that this video represents the reality of our societies that live within limits that they don't deviate from, and when you try to think outside the box, they laugh at you and don't let you succeed😢💔

My lesson from here: The freedom is gained when you're a person outside of the box, apart from all the rest. But your attitude towards life, and your courage for adventure and curiosity, matters more. Thank you for this animation❤️
This film depicts how when your emotions are repressed, you can't stand to be around someone expressing theirs it causes all the repressed emotions to come back overwhelmingly so you scream in anger.
This has happened to me. Once I met a girl, she went to my house, right from the start I realized she was free, she could express her emotions freely, she was so spontaneous and kind! She was full of joy, she sang a song when my sister asked her to because she saw her in a small concert and it was beautiful. She was smart and so involved in the moment... I thought she was amazing... but there were a lot of mixed feelings and there was a moment I had to get out of the room we were in, and be alone. I was jealous of her. She was almost all I wanted to be, without any fear, she was free. I learned to repress myself, to be super self conscious and control every movement of my body and voice so that no one can judge me. Now I am in that process of getting out of the box and reaching the light. Just like in this short most of us are sleeping most of the time, and just like the way their head is pressed down we are limited and not functioning in our natural capacity. But no one will come from up there to pick you up. It's your decision! You have to rise, once you've realized you had enough and made your decision to get out of the dream.
I am so so happy that instead of letting his light die he pushes through and valiantly finds his inner light. He also leaves so as not to be surrounded by brokenhearted fools.
I think of it as a metaphor for present day. A person develops from a young child to an adult. When he's a kid, he is curious of his surroundings and finds the adults astonishing. As he grows into a teen, hes rebellious and irritates the adults.yet they say nothing. But when hes finally an adult, he wishes to voice his opinions and step out of the box.(which could be a metaphor for social norms)but the existing adults who are adjusted to the routines and are trapped in a box voice alarms as a sign of complaint or insisting on the government to take action against youth. Then, the youngsters thoughts have also been polluted and he too , becomes one of the adults, trapped and having no governance over himself.but still determined to break the rules steps out of the box to find the truth while the rest still stay in attracted by the light like moths.(which shows the authority's influence over them)but the person who has stepped out doesn't find anything is what we are left to assume. Suggesting that stepping out of the box can only do harm with no idea what happened to the people who had tried to do the same before him.but the final scene shows us another person continuing to rebel even after turning into a miserable creature.ensuring that the cycle continues.but we are never really sure of what the creatures find outside the box. Which may have been a clever way of saying why don't you step out of the box and see for yourself?
The final scene is not about the one who escaped (he is free and we don't know what he found), but about one of the others, who's been inspired and maybe will start reacting too.
Very few videos ever stick with me, but this is an exception! Really strange and thought provoking, on many levels. You can ask so many questions, but not having the answers and letting everyone use their imagination is better than knowing!! Love it. I feel like the little guy singing now. I'm 71yrs old and anytime I am with a bunch of old farts my age, I feel just like him. If they want to act like those silent "stumps" ,fine, but I'm going to beat my belly and sing a silly song, like Pink Floyd's Run Rabbit Run song. Ooh,yay, yee, yay, wah!!!
Everyone is amazed by the meaning. Me too.... but CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE ANIMATION and the design. Who the hell comes up with THAT? Even the design of the mashine... Oh my gooodd. It's stunning, breathtaking, absoloutly amazing. ♥️
I like the very end where one of the other creature's light comes back on and starts singing, seemingly inspired by what they saw the escapist one achieve. Sure, their neighbour easily discourages them, but for how long will that last?
Здесь главное что бы мы задумались , к которым мы относимся !? К общей серой массы или к одному главному герою!? Здесь это касается и государств! Вот сейчас Россия это как здесь главный герой! Everyone was the same, but one took the opportunity to be different even after experiencing hardship. That's why he was able to be free, unlike the others who have given up and accepted their fate.
He didn't "choose to be different", he chose to be himself which is not the same thing. It might be less clear to people the difference, especially these days.
@@saudadeanguish3139 In this sense, his character was different from the rest. He started off happy, had to be neutered but still had the ability to be what he once was. He chose not be the same as the rest, he wanted to do something different which is be himself rather than be a sheep.

I love the way how he has enjoyed his childhood with a lot of circumstances being not able to walk, being not having friends but still have the joy. He is enjoying the nature like butterfly but sadly that doesn't last longer. Someone took it away from him but still he managed to go back to the happiness with singing which also fade away after a while. He was punished for being different and for being capable to do. However he can't resist his ability to be awesome. And at last he actually made it. Congratulation for his freedom. Keep singing 🤗 Thanks for the video. See it after 2 yrs of released but find it meaningful still today.
The child which then becomes an adult represent those who still keep their fire burning, who hasn't given up yet, hence the red light within their eyes that seems to represent their uniqueness. The adults around the child represent those that have given up on themselves and suppressed their uniqueness to conform. While the machine serve as some sort of higher power dedicated in making sure they are all the same. The one that is different initially lose their spark as the machine forces them to be the same as everybody else, but the other adults laughter, their satisfied laughter as they see the one so different from them becomes one of them, awaken his spark, motivating him to rise above the others, thus leaving all the adults in awe. These adults who has conformed, who has suppressed their light to be the same as everybody else, these adults so terrified of change is left in awe as they see the one that they laugh at rise beyond them,as they themselves doesn't seem to be aware that it's possible to rise up. Decide to be different, to think outside of the box, to escape that box filled with limitations from society but also from our own self perceptions and the limitations we imposed to ourselves and project into others. You were born to be different!!
The worst thing is, they still didn't learn from him and again killed the spark in other guy's eyes at the end. That's how society works...

The best part to me was the one guy who didn’t stop when everyone else stopped.
Thankyou! Give that guy some cred!!!😂😂😂
especially when at the end, it turns out he too has light within him and is suppressed as well
Nah he’s just old and def.
The best part to me is when the kid stopped singing for FIVE SECONDS
Just everyone else’s saying Jesus Christ joe your always late to the trend

Defintetly the BEST comment so far!
Really mean it!
So basically...
the machine = society
the odd one = a dreamer
the others = average folks who gave up on dreams a long time ago
the box = phony limitations
box-shaped heads = thinking inside the box (and being punished for not doing so)
bright eyes = hope, happiness and a sense of wonder
I wonder where he went...
My sentiments exactly
He went outside of the box where's Progress, Solution and being fortunate in the end...
up....

Did anyone notice, that when he was a child, he was at front of the box. When he became middle aged, he was in middle. UwUuuuuuuuuwaaaaaaa
Uuuuuuwayeee u WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA :old man SCREEEEEEEEEECH
G.K. Chesterton - 'A dead thing can go with the stream, but only a living thing can go against it.'
This film depicts how when your emotions are repressed, you can't stand to be around someone expressing theirs it causes all the repressed emotions to come back overwhelmingly so you scream in anger.
That explains a lot actually

Yes yes. Yes.
Well explained 😁

And as i don't have much life experiences, these are all that i can gather from the video.
