I think the metaphor of this game is the indifference of society. Everyone is the same and everyone is following eachother. Those that try to turn around or escape the crowd (the ones that try to be different) all eventually make their way to the main crowd. This main crowd could represent death or just being human.
I remember watching this as a kid when it originally made its way around TH-cam, I was so confused back then. But watching Smii7y play it has made me realise, I'm still as confused as I was originally.

Out of everything funny in this game, the funniest thing is they have all this smooth animation and excellent sound design to tell the story of [checks notes] stick figure children being weird
