I thought I'd watched this one already, but it's new to me. Great stuff! This kind of thing is very interesting to me. In the past, like the 50s, the only way to hear a young musician on their way to mastery was to hang out in jazz clubs. Which is great and everyone should do that anyway, but you can't hang out in every jazz club around the world. Here in 2023, I can sit here at my computer and witness the rise of the world's next superstar drummer. I'm particularly excited that Yoyoka linked up with Ai Furusato. Good to hear from drummers how complex a song, rhythm, time, etc is. I have learned a lot from you regarding that. I liked your comment at the end about her playing with respect to the song and band mates… the people she plays with, new or experienced, respect her skills also. The drum sessions she had in Japan with a few greats, not too long ago, show that. Her interaction with the others shows her wonderful disposition. Yes 13.5 y.o. (10-12-2009). WOW, this is Senri level stuff! Tell us how you really feel Wave! LOL She has been doing this so long, not only does she make it LOOK easy, she just doesn't get nervous or mess up, live or in studio. I would say as a band the Maids can not be topped. As for individual drummers, well it's not as simple for me. Akane is amazing, but Vinnie Colliuta sets the bar for me. Senri is at that top level. Well Yoyoka seems to be progressing so fast, she is reaching that level also. Her cover of Seven Days, covering Vinnie, was what I was waiting to see. What could be next? She just laced out some of the studio version solo from T.N.U.C. compliments of 1 of the greatest rock bands ever. Grand Funk Railroad. She is beyond amazing...
I noticed a few things commented on here are the same things that stood out for me with the very first Yoyoka video I watched, which was her cover of Good Times Bad Times when she was just 8yo. (I've watched it several times and it brings me tears, her ability seems almost supernatural and somewhat disturbing.) (i) Her kick technique - it blew me away what she was doing at 8, when she couldn't even reach the pedal properly (ii) her age - obviously! and (iii) channelling Bonzo - she didn't come across at 8 like a driven-hard-by-parents prodigy who'd had all the fun drilled out of her - she was _feeling_ that Led Zep and channelling the joy as well as the technique!
Wave, you likely know this because you've played with Yoyoka, and the beginning of this video is a good example of some of the cognitive dissonance I've experienced. In many of these videos, Yoyoka's persona, her waving, and faux-niceness, seems forced, suggesting maybe she's not quite what her videos suggest. I've met her and watched her play in person now two times. Her talent is effortless. I saw her play a number of covers, as well as some original work of hers and her signature "Sparkle." During all the playing it felt and looked like all of it was very easy for her. Speaking with her directly, she is incredibly nice and approachable. When I talked with her, she didn't seem conceited at all. A tiny bit shy, but one might expect that for someone her age thrust into environments dominated by adults. I was struck by how easy she is to talk to, she even seemed to welcome conversation where others might be too concerned with their English skill to try and talk much. She also seemed mature beyond her years. Not like a jaded 35 year old, but more like a confident 22 year old with a purpose. It was refreshing when you consider your average teenager these days with their nose buried in their phone. Given the authority she plays with, I was a tiny bit surprised by how petite she is. Her capabilities, skill level, social skills, and everything else about her suggests she is far more capable in every sphere than her age belies. So her high skill in drumming seems echoed in other skill areas of hers, that her cognitive and social skills are as advanced as her drumming is. It's no wonder that, like you, she's a multi-instrumentalist. Hopefully she & her family can successfully navigate the media industry, which isn't known for its niceness. I know she's getting around, I saw a video of her playing with Jack Black & some others. I'd hate to see Hollywood chew her up & spit her out. She has far too much to offer the world. I also hope a world dominated by computerized music can still appreciate analog, skills-based musicians. They deserve to be appreciated. Drummers in particular are magic. People play Guitar Hero, pretending to play guitar, and start to think they're musicians. Playing a real guitar, and playing a game guitar, are as different as playing Call Of Duty and having bullets wiz by your head in real combat. The real skill that drummers possess is uneclipsed by any other instrument I know of.
There's a lot of young Japanese girls playing drum covers extremely good. I don't really understand why girls though. But this lady above all of them. No doubt.
So you should know she switches effortlessly from traditional to matched grip. On November 10th she played in concert in San Jose. She is the drummer for the Ken Okada group. She has recorded three EPs with the group. One on the 11th just the other day. But Buddy was a crusty dude so who knows.
Yeah but most of all Wave... Obviously she's one of the best Drums Teacher for you... Inspiring you to learn more how to "Play Drum" in the good track... I mean we can see how far the goodest you are now... When you playing drums... Not close with Yoyoka of course hhe... because she is Top of the World... You must do really insane Hard works & dedication even to getting close level with her hhe...
Her age is NOT important at all . She`s playing playing drums all day every day , she`s not sitting around on her ass like normal kids. She has a passion and she`s dedicated to it , and discaplined . THAT is why she is so good . Nothing to do with how old she is . The reason she is better than most adults is because she`s already put in way more hours than they have . Period !

During all the playing it felt and looked like all of it was very easy for her.
You are a classic example of RWA. … (right wing authoritarian personality.). Pompous too.
Well said, thanks for sharing 💯🤘✌️🫶
@@juliane3683You forgot that he's a Nazi misogynist too! Oh, and maybe white too! MAGA maybe, as well as a constitutionalist.
There's a lot of young Japanese girls playing drum covers extremely good. I don't really understand why girls though. But this lady above all of them. No doubt.
Have you reacted Yoyoka and Ai Furusato duo live series? I haven't seen nobody reacted yet.
Wave just did that!
I've said it before, I'll say it again. somebody get Yoyoka, Ellen and Taj on a stage
She is AMAZING. Buddy Rich would of not like Her cause Buddy was a Freak on The traditional left hand grip. I still say She is Fantastic
So you should know she switches effortlessly from traditional to matched grip. On November 10th she played in concert in San Jose. She is the drummer for the Ken Okada group. She has recorded three EPs with the group. One on the 11th just the other day. But Buddy was a crusty dude so who knows.
She's 14 now. She's been playing walkons in clubs for a while now, easilly with the same intensity.
She's scary in a way ! 😨😨
Simple rule for Yoyoka’s age: this year - 10 (23-10=13) and you are right about 10/12th of the year 😊
she's channeling ------Ian Paice-John Bonham-Buddy Rich-Steve Gadd-ETC !!!!!!!!
In the beginning that kick drum beat sounds like my HD roadking 😂😂😂.
The Mike Tyson of drumming.
i will still take haruna thank you!!!!!!!
I gotta have more cowbell, baby!
Heard some Neil peart
Agree. And Jeff Porcaro -- Rosanna shuffle. RIP to both masters~
I think Mikkey dee and Yoyoka would have a great time together.
I hear a little Neil in that, nice.
Beginning sounds like a Buddy Rich style.
Bernie Pernard needs to see this
That poor snare takes such a pounding from her.
...she's been listening to Billy Cobham, lol
I heard that there's a Canadian band in need of a drummer. Can she play YYZ?
She covered it when she was 10 😄
I just found it. . . DANG!!!@@WavePotter
Period !
She is NOT a girl drummer but a exellent drummer.
why is she not breathing
Am I the only one who also detected a little GInger Baker influence. But I'll also betcha he wouldn't like her.
One of the best drummers in the world? I’ll have what you’re smoking.
Agreed ... This is all too much. She's good for her AGE, but she is NOT one of the the "best drummers in the world."
@@carbonc6065 When she was only 11 Drummerworld added her to their list of the greatest drummers who ever lived, and since then she has gotten a lot better.
She's great, don't talk so much
WAVUS GOBAS SMACKUSD, LOL
ah ah ah.!!! What a joke! Except you, nobody talk about her. She's just a young girl has many more, who like and play drums.
Is it tough being a clueless dick, or does it come easy?
That's a humble lesson to those snob wanna be drummers on TH-cam
One of the best drummers in the world?Easy over there.Very good, has great feel, but calm down. Not yet.
She’s already better than she was here. She’s improving so fast that I don’t think this is a stretch to say - she’s easily moving into that category.

@@AaronAbernethy Honestly, have you seen or heard ANY OTHER drummers on record, TH-cam, or live? It appears you haven't, but let me know when you do ...
@@carbonc6065 Jesus mate, I’m 45, I’ve been in and out of bands since I was 15, I’ve seen more gigs (about 2-3 a week since I was 18) than just a bout anyone I know.
And yet you, a pretend internet person thinks you’re going to make me second guess my well formed and well INformed opinions.
Nope, unlikely fuckstick, have a nice day!
I managed 4 minutes. Just let her play without pausing and talking over it ffs.
To even say that "She's one of the best drummers in the World" is a joke
Why?
@@WavePotter Dude, Please ...
No offence, but why is it that almost every “reactor” to someone’s musical performance interrupts the flow of the performance for some totally inane comment which contributes nothing to the experience, in fact, IMHO, undermines it. I’m a Yoyoka fan … I’d rather just enjoy the performance and draw my own conclusions. Great performance.
Why are you watching a Reaction video?
This is a Reaction video!
Great drummer, video spoilt by the constant talking over.
Why are you on my video? 🤔The original link is in the description!
YOYOKA was created to be a drummer. Incredible.
Actually, you should change your description about Yoyoka from drummer to musician.
