I purchased two of my javelins more than 10 years ago, and I was starting to suspect they were wrong for me. When I thought I had felt a good throw, they would stay nose-high all the way through the flight (but the distance would be great). So, if I understand this video correctly, that is a sign that I am ready for a higher-rated javelin (?)

I find 60m javelins fly best for me, even as a 45m thrower

It is great you have found the right javelin. It is all about understanding your personal technique. Generally we recommend not more than 10m over your distance, but this is the perfect example of how that can vary for individual athletes.

@@NeuffAthletic my favorite javelin is a 7 flex canterbrian model. Nothing too fancy or expensive, but it feels great to throw. My go to for any meets when we can throw the steels

@@yeet76231 The 'less-fancy' javelins are somewhat less fine-tuned, so they may give more allowance for throwing under their stated distance. Absolutely perfect that you have found one to suit you. Many international level throwers still use their old javelins in training and they throw them far over their distance ratings, so it works both ways.

@NeuffAthletic hey my brother is a para athlete in a seated category he throws around 30m. I want to know which javelin suit him. In Most of the throws the tail of javelin touchs the ground if he uses harder or more range javelin like 60m or plus but when he uses local javelin then tip touches the ground. Please suggest which javelin of brand nemeth or nordic or ote is best for him and which range or flex suits him to reach 35m mark

Hey I wanna ask you that,is distance rated javelin matters in throwing distance like my throw goes 50m on training javelin(800gm) which has centre of gravity very much to tip of javelin and if I throw on 80m distance rated did it increase or remain same

The centre of gravity will move slightly further back towards the tail of the javelin for a longer rated javelin, but not by much. There will be more difference in the flex of the javelin. Shorter rated javelins are more 'forgiving' and will flex more on release and in flight. This makes them easier and safer to throw for an athlete who does not have perfect release technique, but the javelin will therefore not float as efficiently through the air so will not go as far.

There is almost no variance to the location of the javelin CG, and it most be located under the cord grip, has a maximum and minimum distance measured from the point. Metre rating are nothing but a different way to measure shaft stiffness; CG location related to distance are ''old rules'' elements along with shaft taper behind the grip. The current rules very much limit how much that taper can vary, so stiffness and point shape are about all that matters. A shorter version of selection, from a javelin specialist is here- FYI, l am no longer in business, just want to share good information. Long throws to all- th-cam.com/video/q31JJHVYKNM/w-d-xo.html
