Bringing down the left arm to 7oclock is simply the best. Sliding is another which I have never done before. Thank you for your educational video Coach. Greetings from maxx greater in north borneo.
Thanks for your videos. It definitely helps me understand the sequence of the throw. As the speed of the move increases do your stay lower or reach out more in the last two steps?
I look for an increased range of motion but I try to keep accelerating. Reaching too far can some times slow the last step into the block. Being low can help and hurt depending on if it slows you down in the process. I think the key is acceleration.
Sir, thx.a lot for sharing this valuable information on the Javeline Throw. Pl.keep it up. Sir, there is no improvement in my Javelin Throw. Pl. give me some tips to improve it.
I've got a lot of video content on my youtube channel as well as my website (www.CoachHalley.com). My website has a full online class on how to throw the javelin as well as a standalone video on javelin fundamentals. I would highly suggest reaching out to a local coach for assistance as well.
It's no little thing to have extended left arm in IR which can freefall while keeping left clavicle abducted..then after an initial inertial resistance will sidestep
I am a senior (like old-person, not H.S.) and am just starting to throw. The mechanics are really hard for me even though I THOUGHT I was coordinated. What would you suggest in terms of stepping instead of the "faster" approach-which I may not be able to do (?). Great video. Played it many times.....
Depending on your physical capabilities, you may be able to improve mobility with practice/exercise/etc. The approach can help build more speed than a standing throw but only if you are setup to produce a throw. I work with masters throwers and mobility is normally the hardest to work on. Technique does take effort but doing things like working out, yoga or cardio may not be as much fun. Sometimes you just have to adjust your technique based on your physical capabilities. The great thing is that everyone can get better at just about anything given enough consistent effort. More resources on my website too (www.CoachHalley.com). My online javelin course is focused on technique if you want to get more efficient.
My grandson is about to turn 14 and he has a great throwing arm. He starts track in less than a month. He wants to try javelin throwing. I want to get him a javelin to practice with before the season starts. I'm looking at a 600g javelin. Should I get a steel tip or rubber tip and is there anything else I should purchase to help him get started.
Depending on the state you live in will determine the type of javelin tip. If they are just practicing, a Finnflier or Ghostjav would be great for training. They cost less, weigh less and provide a really good opportunity for skill development. For other stuff to get, athletic cones, javelin shoes and maybe a weighted javelin ball.
I’m guessing it’s a combination of a low throwing hand and a bent wrist. My next video will talk about this very thing. Here’s a preview: How to throw the javelin farther - Control the javelin flight th-cam.com/video/l470Jar9RIQ/w-d-xo.html
Throw with less aggression and work on being a relaxed and efficient thrower. Practice throwing through the point with healthy technique and gradually add more speed.
I am 13 , and just starting javelin throw , I am trying really hard to keep it high but whenever I throw it , just goes low and does not go far enough , Any tips ?
Work a little rearward lean (spine - not shoulders) into your throws. Also, careful not to keep the javelin too high in the back. Not knowing what your throws look like, I’m only guessing this is what you need to work on.
only half the throw... why? Block is a myth it only works for booster the hip rotation and fasten the chest stretch(faster stretch fast reflex reaction) ... but then, delivery must continue, must use front toes as the last axis and rise heel to input 2d impulse to the chest while it still reacting on the stretch reflex... this way you maximize the drag and the last push through the best delivery angle... not doing this half throw is losing 10-15m and stay at low 80m... good luck folks!!! Block is not a stop! Pull down front leg please!!! Get you lift, use body like a sling and not a catapult!!!!
Your teachings are nothing but the grace of god for any one.
Thank you sir.
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words!
I love this coach and you can do it anywhere with a towel.

Thank you! Greetings from The USA!
Thank you Coach Halley for another insightful instructional video!
Thanks for watching!
Always puts a smile on my face when you upload coach
It’s tough to find the time to record and edit but I do enjoy doing it! Thanks for watching!!
@@coachhalley always
Great explanation and a good throw. For the left hand, I like the analogy of the seteering wheel of a truck
Thank you!!
Thank you, very useful. The sequence goes so fast in javelin, sometimes it's hard to decompose the movement without an explanation.
Agreed. It’s hard to drill it out as well. Hopefully this helps someone. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Very appreciated!!
You make very good and simple teaching videos 👌 Greetings from Finland! 😊🇫🇮
Thank you!! Greetings from the USA 🇺🇸
The left arm dropping to a throwers side as a initial movement can be counter productive as it draws the head to tip as well
The sequence is fast but the left arm can’t be in the way of the strike. It also can’t be down at the side too early. Timing is key.
Thank you for sharing
What javelin topic do you want to see covered?

After watching this video, I have seen some little mistakes I have been doing now I want to throw it very far
Great to hear! Best of luck! I hope you can make some positive adjustments and get some bigger throws.
🙏🙏🙏
🙏🏻 I appreciate it!
how do I switch from a less stiff javelin to a more stiff javelin?
Throw with less aggression and work on being a relaxed and efficient thrower. Practice throwing through the point with healthy technique and gradually add more speed.
