- PLAYING GENJI WAS THE MOST AGGARVATING EXPERIANCE IN MY CAREER SO FAR!!!
Genji's learning curve is a lot steeper than I imagined! In my first 10 hours or so I struggled and saw little to no improvement. Eventually through my training I began to develop skills and habits that ultimately lead to me mastering the art of Genji in Overwatch 2.
In this video I will show you my journey from my first hour on Genji, all the way to my 50th hour

I will say Genji is painful the first few hours but once you understand his mechanics like swift strike resets, double jump and wall climbing, and how to use his primary and secondary fire, he’s quite fun. Definitely one of my top played heroes next to Zen and Doomfist (yeah Doomfist is considered bad but I still find use out of him!)

tip from necros i keep in mind with using swift strike to cover ground is to only do so when you have no intention to use it for the cd duration. Sounds simple but when i started, i used to swift strike to get back into the fight and have no way out after my deflect ended. Another necros tip that helped was to not spam cooldowns in an engagement, always make sure you have either deflect or swift strike to make a getaway, unless youre really confident you can secure the kill
as a genji main with 200 hours and started playing ow liek early this year. i get it bro i remember those days. somewhat of a nostalgia trip nice vid

Really great content! Just a little advice for some plays I noticed, you can maintain high speeds and feel more comfortable in kills if you dash to confirm a kill (in and out of blade) within a few frames of a shuriken or slash, as the game will register the initial damage and the dash as one but give you your dash reset with the dash damage on top. This paired with maybe a higher sens cos you seem comfortable in where to aim but are struggling physically to match the targets movement, so if you can fine tune it can give you a lot more options in team fights
Or maybe instead of the higher sense integrate movement into your aim rather than hyper focusing on keeping the target central at all times, since the recovery rate of shurikens (which is in fact a tiny bit slower if you melee inbetween) is slow enough for you to take in your surroundings quickly if you position yourself to do so then lock back on to the target
this is an awesome video!
if you want some advice i would recommend watching a good genji like noobhunter or another grandmaster genji and look how often they use jump and compare it to your gameplay.

something I saw for if you want to get better at genji is blade combos. like slash dash or dash slash with nano and dashing after 2 swings will let you get kills faster and let you get an extra swing with blade
Great vid, but at 8:58, using a melee in between shuriken throws definitely does cause a delay in the recovery time.

it's hard learning at first , getting used to high sensitive then using his blade is even harder as you can throw very easily. But practice makes perfect , and you put your soul , sweat , and tears into this.

i woke up one day, said “ima learn genji”. watched videos on him and just played. never played ow1 and had a few hours on ow2, went like 50ish Ws - less then 20 Ls, from bronze 5 to gold 1 in a week, would climb ranks in days by never dropping a game. now i have around 200 hours on genji alone (i’m a otp) and just hit masters 5 tonight. genji is definitely the hardest hero in the game besides someone like doom. every other hero is a child’s play. so glad i forced myself to
learn him because if they have no counters to you, it’s a walk ina park. should learn him more, watch necros, shadder, hiku, aviates, pro genji montages. he’s super fun and honestly the only fun hero i personally have fun with. doing his combos (which you never talked about in the video) is SOO satisfying. amazing video too!

Hey bro don't try and downplay your progress. Especially from 20 - 30 to 30 - 40 there was so much progress. Just bc you didnt go up rank does not mean u massively improved. I only have 20 hours on genji but am really addicted to him, this gives me hope that I can improve

I think as long as you have someone to coordinate and enable you (preferably Ana for nanoblade and long distance heals >:) ) genji thrives because unlike other characters he gets way more value for every elim as his dash resets and he can rinse and repeat
