Gm1 genji here 👋🏻, biggest issue lower ranks have on genji is three fold. One lack of awareness. It’s not just an issue of lack of awareness on the genji’s fault but also of the team. You need to balance all your resources available to you as genji. In higher ranks it’s easier in that department because your resources are paying attention. In lower ranks they may not be. 2: An issue in lower ranks is that you are not timing engagements to your advantage and being proactive in engagements. Poking or using your left click a lot more helps dictate engagements much better. 3: counter picks do not actually have as much of an effect on genji as you may think. Counter picks affect his playstyles, so if you can’t adapt around them then you will suffer. If he was actually bad he wouldn’t be in t500 at all. His ultimate is definitely weak compared to others but his neutral and all that he can do makes him top notch.
GOATED series, great editing style, great pacing. The rage can definitely get to you, but I assure you that you will eventually get better and see progress. He's just one of those characters that really requires a lot of hours to find success. Personally, I love the mentality that you have going into this and I will be looking forward into seeing a part 3. Trust me, he gets really fun after you master him.
recently hit masters 5 playing mostly genji on console and he’s been really fun though it’s not something for the faint of heart because you gotta have some strong mental fortitude to play him consistently
I one trick genji and I stopped playing long hours and started watching spilo the ow coach guy, I only play around 4 matches with full focus and I vod review those matches and through the Improvement mindset I finally broke through plat yesterday and ngl I wanna give up the hero some days and just play someone else
i think youre doing great! its kinda funny because i started my genji 1 trick journey around the same time as you and its been quite the learning experience. i've been playing this game for a long time and what helps is actually taking a break from this game. i swear the buff you get when you come back with a fresh mind is crazy. the burnout makes you sloppy and you might be auto-piloting some plays. but very entertaining video and good luck my brother!
Every time I watch this man i thing to myself how does he not have more subscribers. great video and hope you dodo a 3 part ( also love the 2K badges lmao)
As someone who waisted 3000 competetive points on genji golden gun I can say he is sooooo hard to play but when you are poping its the best thing this game has to offer
This is a amazing video Pophead, seen a lot of improvement from your 50 hour video of Genji. Just one thing that I could recommend is play to improve and not to win. If you go into a game and notice how you die and what mistakes you make when going in you will have a much higher chance of winning the game. The second thing is when using Genji blade the moments aren't always going to stand right in front of you like a straight line, and when you don't have a clear moment to blade make the moment and force a cd with dash, then blade and than slash again and if it is a 200 hp target you should kill them and sometimes you only need one kill to change a fight. Again this was a really good video you have improved a ton and I really hope to see a part three if you are up for that. Good luck man and keep up the good work.
as someone who just recently hit over 70 to 80 hours on Genji I enjoy seeing your progression as I progress as Genji myself! Look forward to seeing sum more of this and the wonderful editing!
@@ajlanali6471 As mentioned in the video at 2:00 your biggest enemy at times can be consistency and in this current stage of the game there isn't much that can be helped for that beyond just warming up and consistent practice unfortunately. Sometimes the enemy lineup can be just too overwhelming or just full of counter-picks. Genji is in one of his most weakest states right now but that doesn't mean he is entirely weak as a hero either, although when compared to others like Echo he is. When it comes to blade I mainly try and farm ult charge off the tank and either A.) Wait for the supports such as Zen or Lucio to use Trans or Beat then instantly go on the offensive on the backline such as supports or Widow then plan from there. Because of the health changes the new combo for blade is dash, slash, slash and then dash to the next target to be closer to them. Then there is option B.) Use blade to force the supports ults out unfortunately so that my team can benefit off of the enemy lacking those resources. In the current state the game is in now the best approach with Genji when it comes to engaging in fights is a defensive and patient one when it comes to engaging in some heroes like Moira, Ana or Mei. When it comes to Moira if you force them to fade away, it is still kind of good, yes you didn't kill them but they are now out of the fight for the time being and when they do come back you will most likely be ready for them as their fade is now on cooldown then afterward try and see if you can deflect their ball. If you cannot then begin to run because either orb is bad, Healing orb can heal her through your shuriken damage and Damage orb combined with her right click is just death. Ana's love to use sleep dart on you first thing so engaging with a deflect is usually best unless they begin to catch onto what you are doing, etc etc same thing for most other heroes. I really hope Genji gets the buffs he deserves soon because as of now you could be on top of the world at one moment then go 2 to 7 with 1,552 damage in a 5k damage game then yelled at to switch because of your "throw pick", so yeah the line between inconsistency between the player and the game itself has begun to become blurry. If there was anything in specific you needed help with let me know so I can try my best to give the best advice 👍
Bro massive tip: The best way to learn is to watch streamers like necros or something. This has a way bigger impact than you think as you pick up things they do and you start to learn from what they do. Necros has an educational unranked to gm that could help as he speaks about what he's thinking and what he does. Hope this helps :D
I’ve seen a few of his videos and it makes me want to review my own gameplay. I don’t really look at my replays often but it could give me loads of insight
This just the make or brake period of being a genji main, u either drop him at that point or keep going, ur skill will feel platued but its only temporary. Keep going bro
good vid btw with ur rant at the end season 9 will get a comp rework with a bar that also tells you why you go up that much or why u go down that much so yea :)
19:43 It might seem crazy what I'm bout to say. - Season 9 has a competetive overhaul and they're going to add a bar that tells you how far from from ranking up/down you are.
Quick tip with Genjis abilities never use them alone. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS use Shurikens with his abilities. Example swift strike hold left click, reflect hold left click. The extra dmg adds up, especially when your aim improves. Love the vids we should duo sometime.
alr as a genji main whos pushing up on gm and have nearly 600 hours. i have some genuine tips that will actually help you. starting with ur right click u can press right before any ability to get extra damage in and if u learn the timing u can animation cancel it. so right click ur dash deflect and as u pop blade. Next up your blade specifically with nano. u can dash to them and right click melee animation cancel for a free 1 shot + ur still popping blade. So even if they lived u can them and get dash reset. With nano dash to them then use slash dash cus of animation cancel and it will let u be faster and get hit less. Also u can still travel far if ur not dashing down. blade with out nano is different. I watched u be on top of someone dryblading and dash slash slash. which is way too slow. So if u have dash still and are right next to or above them u can slash dash to animation cancel then slash again. which will improve time to kill. Also make sure u or someone else is alt and cooldown tracking. It will save u from so much pain. Finally right click melee there is a timing to it but the extra 30 dmg will save u when finishing up a low hp target. Ik this is a lot but if u read it hope it helps :D
Saw the vid. First few minutes had me downloading Overwatch again as an old genji main myself.. Then at 15 minutes mark when all the stress and salt appeared I remembered why I uninstalled again

something i noticed with your aim on genji is your playing genji like a hitscan where you flick onto the person, stop your crosshair, and shoot. with genji because of his bullet travle you always want to be tracking in front of your target and if they are straifing even out their strafe and shoot in the middle. this is easier to learn with a lower sense as i play on 2% with 1600 dpi. im only 5 min into the video so imma keep watching and delete if nessacary.

I did and still feel like this in Silver, I've played genji for my entire overwatch career and I've never been plat, I don't even think I've been gold 1
Og genji Masters player in ow1 and freshman gm thoughts: Turn off auto wall climb. Consider dropping your sens to 10. Your sens is like triple mine. Click out your right clicks when in people's faces instead of holding it. If you really want to be more consistent then be more receptive to people's movement when you get on them and force them into pressure. If your team is playing in a way where you can't really commit to anything then just off angle and poke and always be throwing shit at someone like the annoying monkey genji is. Also you're silver and gold, if you've gotten to the point where you can track ults, genji blade is huge bait to get 3 ults out and if you survive that, that is huge value. Genji can't really brute force carry like he could so you really gotta capitalize on how much aggro you draw because of how annoying you are to backlines.
what is you dpi because when you said you sens was 12.25 i physically moved in shock. im at 1600 dpi with 1.87 sens. edit: ... so i may have ben a bit impatient it's 800... mb
as a gm1 genji i think this means nerf genji. also turn off automatic wallclimb, its dogshit for fluid movement and intentional wallclimbing comboed with dubble jump. also ur sens migth be to high but im not sure. i run 800 dpi with 8 ingame. but sensitivity is preference, ur sens doesent actually look to high cus ur 180s are not that fast and ur not overflicking much. just something to pay attention to. do you have a big mousepad? i became so much better when i was able to use a bit of arm aim for 180s
I was hoping the whole time you would watch some guides like tips & tricks or u2gm content or smthn to help you out haha, but instead you decided to just struggle 😅 I say this bc I've seen other "I spent x hours playing y in OW2" type vids and usually it seems when they say they took a break like midway and looked for some more info it really helped their gameplay & mental (bc they have a plan on what to do differently to win more rather than bashing their head against a wall over and over haha)

Math wasn’t mathing 😅
bro what maps you use for training of genji?
Use dmgre, vaxta, osoho
Og genji Masters player in ow1 and freshman gm thoughts:
Turn off auto wall climb.
Genji can't really brute force carry like he could so you really gotta capitalize on how much aggro you draw because of how annoying you are to backlines.
what is you dpi because when you said you sens was 12.25 i physically moved in shock. im at 1600 dpi with 1.87 sens.
edit: ... so i may have ben a bit impatient it's 800... mb
all good bro😂😂
As a Diamond 4 Genji, I gotta say i'm a little disappointed 🤓 Great video though!!
Thanks dropout844 this will be noted. you have yourself a jolly holly Christmas sir🤓
7:22 Brawlhalla soundtrack? 😮
as a gm1 genji i think this means nerf genji. also turn off automatic wallclimb, its dogshit for fluid movement and intentional wallclimbing comboed with dubble jump. also ur sens migth be to high but im not sure. i run 800 dpi with 8 ingame. but sensitivity is preference, ur sens doesent actually look to high cus ur 180s are not that fast and ur not overflicking much. just something to pay attention to. do you have a big mousepad? i became so much better when i was able to use a bit of arm aim for 180s
I was hoping the whole time you would watch some guides like tips & tricks or u2gm content or smthn to help you out haha, but instead you decided to just struggle 😅 I say this bc I've seen other "I spent x hours playing y in OW2" type vids and usually it seems when they say they took a break like midway and looked for some more info it really helped their gameplay & mental (bc they have a plan on what to do differently to win more rather than bashing their head against a wall over and over haha)
aint no way 13:37 thats me the kiri
Instantly when I heard the polo g I had to like the vid
what is the music at 10:50
