    The thing that bogles my mind is the fact that Frieren apparently got the nickname "Frieren the Slayer" because she is the individual that has killed the most demons in HISTORY, and she did that during a 10 year period, seeing as Aura states demons have only really known of her existence for the last 80 years when she "appeared".
    Frieren should be seen as an outright fking calamity among demons. There shouldn't be a demon that doesn't know her face or at least her name, and the fact they don't because they perceive her as having "little" mana just shows how stupid and short sighted they are as a species

    • @Tiffany36236

      They know her name and her face but may be there are elfs similars to her appearances. Also demons just gauge the strength by mana level that mean even if she looks like the Frieren they just don't think she is the real one because of concealed mana.

      To be fair, the Japanese title (of the anime, and of Frieren the character) has a different, and double-entendre-d meaning.葬送のフリーレン (Sousou no Frieren) being her title:
      葬送 is 'funeral', but it more literally a funeral/grievous send-off. The double entendre here (for us viewers) is that she lives long enough to send off everyone she loves, but also straight up buries her enemies.

      For what we see with other offensive spells such as "Zoltraak" and "Balterie" the minimal strength of the spell is completely set in stone but the maximum strength is dependant on the caster: if i remember correctly we can see 2 demons using Balterie and the one Fern killed showed just how powerful it could be; since it almost overwhelmed Fern the fastest magic caster in history, while the other was easily dispose off by Frieren before it could finish casting it.
      On the other hand, when Frieren freed Zoltraak we where able to see just how absolutely monstrous that simple spell could be; literally destroying mountains.
      So Draht saying that the wire spell is the strongest in demon history means that is has a high minimal damage, coupled with the fact that it is indestructible (confirmed by Frieren herself), so imagine just how devastating Draht could be, if used by a capable caster.

      In terms of pure science, one demon spell is easily more advanced then anything humans/elves/any other species can learn, because they are so individual and carried on for centuries potentially. However, what they have in complexity typically lacks in simplicity, as Fern’s fight shows. Simple speed and force of attack was enough to overwhelm a fairly older demon.

      Its not outside the realm of possibility that human magic is superior to anything prior to Flamme's time when most magic users were elves. Its been repeated multiple times how humans develop skills quickly. Plus we know that the once ultra-powerful spell zoltraak became just ordinary offensive magic within just 100 years of when it was created. Humans were able to study it so quickly that it just became a basic spell to them, despite how overwhelmingly powerful it was considered when Quaal developed it.

Seconds later the female demon asks "what is a father?" for leader to retort that he doesn't know. Throughout the whole series it is explicitly stated that demons don't feel human emotion and as Frieren herself says "They use language and emotion to manipulate and trick humans into lowering there guard". @@vestige2540 In those 2 scenes, those demons did not panic. You can literally see their expression and they are confident they will get away scott free. Here you see Dhrat's confidence quickly changes to panic.
      If he is trying to play with Frieren's emotion in that last moment, he would have the exact same expression as he did when he first walked into her cell, instead he was in a state of panic. Aura before she off herself also shows her expression changes to a state of panic. So Dhrat in that instance is literally him begging for his life.
      That demon child in his last moment, knowing that he's gonna die is still showing his poker face while trying to play with Frieren's emphathy. You can see the difference between that demon child and Dhrat.

    Frieren just goes:
    _No. No, we ain't talking out sh**. Not now, nor ever._
    It's such an absolute and complete rejection of everything he is, since his entire existence is based on deceiving others.
    And it's not like she's afraid of what he has to say... She knows she wouldn't believe any of his lies anyway - she just sees the act of listening to him as completely worthless, right from the get go.

    Frieren isn't merely NG+. The quest to defeat the Demon King took about 10 years. Frieren is 1000 years old at the minimum and has spent almost all of it learning and developing even more magic and becoming stronger. This means Frieren at this point is like a NG+100 character.

      She spent most of those 1000 years just hidden in the forest, focused on suppressing her mana (which increased its total and her control), as her teacher told her to keep a low profile. It's only with the Hero's Party and afterwards that she started to travel the world again and learning new magic (like keeping up to date with human magic development).

    When you think about what she’s doing and saying, it looks like she’s trying to be cool and all, but she’s really goading Draht into attacking her and revealing his hidden trump cards. Not that she needed to do that, but it’s an extra precaution, I suppose.
    Frieren here isn’t telling Draht the truth. She’s saying she’s stronger than Aura. She said Aura on purpose. But while she’s saying that, she’s concealing her mana so that to Draht it would look like some mewling pathetic prey trying to puff itself up but is really, “obviously” weak. Frieren knows that he would judge her by the amount of mana she is showing. If she really wanted to intimidate him into submission, she would have released her mana.
    So she was intending to kill him the moment he stepped into the cell. She was just being a little extra cautious. Probably got surprised that it was as easy as it was, even after she said “Demons these days have no battle experience tsk.” Truly deserves her fearsome title of “The Slayer.”

    I noticed how in all scenes where Friren kills demons we always see it from their eyes. Qual looking up to see Zoltraak, Draht looking into her eyes, and Aura watching at her back as she walks away.

    It boggles my mind that a species like the demons in this series would have survived long enough to be a threat to other beings.
    Far as the ones we see demonstrate they would all have murdered each other and their progenitors at birth or been murdered in turn out of sheer curiosity, yet some-bloody-how a species of relatively powerful magical beings with the social skills of Taco Bell after effects and inherent psychopathic tendencies has managed to survive long enough to pose a threat to the world.

    • @TrueLegateDamar
      @TrueLegateDamar 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      For some reason even while them to be a known threat, people are still willing to believe them on face-value like the little girl or the 'diplomatic envoys', even when they admit they only say things humans want to hear.

    • @Blyndir
      @Blyndir 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      People will believe a lie because they want it to be true or because they are afraid it might be true. If there was a chance the little girl demon could be redeemed, the people (who aren't cold hearted or evil) felt an obligation to give it to her. That they were wrong is a tragedy, but let us learn so their deaths may not be in vain.
      Demons are intelligent, they know they need to reproduce and make more of themselves or they go extinct and the bugs win. They also know that helping lesser things promotes weakness, so new demons get kicked out of the nest the moment they enter the world. My hat is off to the writers for communicating a truly soulless society so magnificently.

      That's because of the demon king. Demons are very hierarchical, and obey the strong. The demon king "united" the demon race so they can survive. But they don't really get along well with each other tho, that's why they don't make that good of an army.
