Well its one of counter-intuitive things about magic systems in many fantasy worlds, magic often does not seem to progress, it rather regresses or stays the same. Always oldest is greatest, magic item, crafter, mage...... Compare it to technology, guy who invented first battery will have no idea how nuclear power-plant works and nuclear power-plant it much stronger than first battery.
Some magic systems are like this, aka 100 years ago top magic was fireball, now it is 500 word spell that can annihilate whole city, things like that.
This is pretty great. I remember reading a manga a while back about a high elf who travelled the world learning different skills such as blacksmithing,swordsmanship and others. It was pretty good, immortality or longevity truly is a blessing and a curse

The way Heiter aged through ten years and 50 years makes sense, but Himmel didn't age for 10 years and then did after 50.....

Some of their videos lack the personality and charm, I just like how they tell the stories more, idk if they tried to get a different writer and are just reuploading their better content into longer videos but I hope they don't just change to pumping out lower effort stuff and keep it more human? if that makes sense

I myself would've been bored to death by it if not only I like magic fantasy genre and the fact that it's such a wholesome and a non-overly-gooey romance show, very much like that one with a kid that raises slimes.

this title is wrong. Spoiler warning. she didn't spend 1000 years becoming the strongest mage she just lived for a 1000 years. And its only for after the decade long quest did she lose those from the quest. Great Anime go watch it.

why you are not honest, she is rushing time bc she doesn't have to live so long as elf, it is not her patient, in anime it is stated that she is afraid her life is too short as an elf. This elf can spend in one place 50-60 years - it is the whole human life spend- that is why she was inpatient or whatever
PS there are a lot of moments described wrongly here - first the elf student doesn't want to stay to long in one place bc she doesn't live for ever like her elf master, then her elf master is abscessed with collecting new spells and books for those matter - which is why they had to fight a dragon to get the book - why all of that is not mentioned ???????

The start was a little rough, the acting and even the animation was lacking a bit, not from a lack of trying but the fsct its so new. Great show, this and Delusional Heaven are must watch.

I'll never understand why the japanese keep using random german words as names for their characters. I mean most of these names are at least somewhat fitting, but 'Frieren' is a verb for Pete's sake ^^

Frieren is not the strongest mage. Flame was stronger than Frieren, and even currently, Fern declared, "I can kill Frieren". She spent the majority of her thousands years of life cultivating mana (made her inexhaustible) but only learned mostly basic and even silly spells.
Serie is the strongest mage then flamme then frieren, also fern saying I can kill frieren was implying that she found a weakness when frieren casted. Also frieren said that the pursuit of magic is the best gift so that's why frieren collected useless spells
