Before I bought this mattress, I blurted out to a mattress salesman, as he was 'suggesting' add-ons that I 'needed', "why do I feel like I'm in a car dealership???" I kept saying, No, no, no and NO. I am now a most happy owner of a Tuft & Needle mattress purchased thru their website. Have had it for 4 months now and it's a keeper!
Hang on to that ! They don't make em like they used to, plus the psychopath government made a new "law" in 2007 that forces all mattress manufacturers to saturate them in cancer causing toxic chemicals (under the guise of "flame retardents"). These chemicals off gas and cause migraines and all kinds of health problems.
Its an imperfect world. Until someone finds a way to reduce gravity to remove pressure points its all just band aides on broken bones. I suggest sleeping on a hard surface for a year, like the floor, and then you’ll be happy with any mattress you can get.
I prefer the floor over this POS Memory Foam that has wrecked my sleep and health, not to mention Severe back pain...js You would too! I would pass on one even if it were FREE!
Just trust me on this one, most of y'all would have grown up sleeping on spring beds. If you've never had latex or memory foam beds before, you dun need it. Which is why pocket coil beds IMO are the best for anyone who isn't a bed enthusiast, who isn't looking for anything fancy like waterbeds, who just wants to be able to sleep properly and comfortably with as little compromises as possible.
What amazes me is how inconsistent mattress makers can be. My wife and I had a Simmons Beautyrest that lasted 8 years. Minimal body imprinting until the last year. We go out and buy the "equivalent" matress January of this year and it is already shot. I sleep 6" lower than my wife in a pit of a body imprint. I only weight 225 lb and my wife weighs 140 lb. Reading online, it sounds like this early failure mode is 100% normal and that Simmons really does have no warranty plan they stand behind. Extremely frustrating. We are going to buy a latex foam mattress from IKEA soon. A few of my friends have bought these and been really happy.
Bottom line is that comfort of mattresses is completely subjective. What one person loves, another will hate. The only way is to take your pillow, and your blanket, and go to the bed stores and try out the mattresses. For hours. That's the only way. The last two mattresses I purchased, both bed stores let us spend a day on the mattresses. Me? Both of my past two, were Stearns & Foster, the most recent one is a dual pillow top (both top and bottom so you can flip it). An option can be a 'topper', a separate soft foamy type that goes on top of a normal mattress. Now go an try out some mattresses, and don't expect what other people think is perfect, to be what you do.
I absolutely Hate my pillow top stearns & foster! flipped it, turned it- right on schedule-like they recommend- STILL- 6 months later the divots began to form and now after a year are affecting mine and my husbands lives. we get up every morning hurting - back, hips, legs a little. I'm at a total lose listening to all this.
Big time, I went to so many sites, there are to many options, I ended up getting a beauty rest vinings plush. good for side sleepers, just got it today hoping it will do what I want which is a good sleep.
I bought a temperpedic 20 years ago and love it to this day. its not organic, its expensive but out of 3 different foam mattresses in home it's the best by far
I think this is the one! Had really great reviews on Amazon and it combines the two technologies. Is it still holding up for you. Also, I get night sweats. Is it not too hot sleeping?
It has a class action lawsuit against it because there is fiberglass dust inside of it that gets through the cover by cutting it at the micro level and getting into the air. A lot of people have gotten permanently disabled from breathing it in. It goes into the air and throughout the house. It costs tens of thousands of dollars for professionals wearing hazmat suits to remove it from your house. You will also have to throw away all your clothes, etc. Enjoy Zinus though.
I just got rid of my Tempurpedic. Kept rolling into the middle of the bed lol smh plus way to hot in the summer and it hold smell(yuck). It was time for a new one. Got me a Sierra Mt Dana Plush.

I'm just going to assume it's best to buy the most comfortable mattress at the best price today and plan to replace it in 4 years. This way my feelings won't be hurt when my mattress turns to junk
Buying a bed doesn't have to be confusing. The best mattress is one that gives you push back support. I've been selling mattress for over 23 years and in all my years of experience I find that Natural latex is the best mattress to give you the best support and comfort. In terms of spring mattress the old bonnel spring is the best mattress for back support. Pocket spring is the most overrated mattress these mattresses lose their support far to quickly. Hope this helps.
I am often met with a response of shock when I explain to someone that dogs are being used to sniff out bedbugs. Not only can they detect bedbugs, studies have shown dogs to be as accurate as 97%-98% at locating bedbugs. Dogs can be used to locate low level bedbug activity that can be easily missed by the human eye.
Absolutely. I had bedbugs in a previous home. I got a service to come out, and they had a dog. The dog let me know that the damn bugs were in the WALL behind the bed! Had the house fumigated and heat treated. What a horrible time that was. But the dog was awesome!
we should just buy a Tranquility Tank. They usually retail around $20,000, but The Body will be suspended in warm salt water and all lights and sounds will be shielded so that all the senses can get some rest too!
I totallt agree. I took 2 months on the couch while I shopped for the right deal and still don'tknow if I made the right choice to this day 2 years later!lol!!
Do not ever buy a mattress if company do not offer returns. Everyone's back is different and it's very subjective term "comfortable mattress". If you are comfortable on what you were sleeping, do not buy into the hype. Also there are many mattress manufactures who will sell you mattress directly and will save you thousands of dollars. Costco is a good place to go too if you are not too picky.
Memory foam is often made with polyurethane, but it breaks down and compresses over time thus disqualifying the warranty/. flame retardant portions are actually hazardous for your health big time.
All memory-foam mattresses will compress in time. Some as soon as 18 months, according to brand. So buyer beware! However, if you can find a high quality latex foam mattress, you will experience an unbelievable nights sleep and it will last over 10 years!
My tempurpedic mattress is 12 years old and I just noticed it gives us back pain from sagging in the middle but it was really awesome for 11 years. I paid 7000 bucks for it but at least the motion base is still great so I only need a top mattress. I would never spend that much on a mattress again.

Calm down. Jeez. They could be carrying the bugs on their clothes too. Just because someone doesn't bring their personal pillow is no guarantee. So damn sensitive.
I bought a memory foam mattress online several years ago and added a 3 inch mattress topper to protect it. It's still good as new (although I should replace the topper now).
Balto D what the heck is an iCloud. Sounds like your mixing two names together so did you get an iComfort or Cloud from Tempurpedic shoulda got a Dreambedlux
I got a highly rated FIRM memory foam mattress through Walmart online. It's a hard thing to describe. It is firm as it puts a lot of pressure on my shoulder and hip when I sleep on my side. But, it is difficult to roll around on the mattress because you sink so far into it. And it hurts my back when I lay on my stomach. It must be bending me more than I think. Getting OUT of bed is really tough. I've got to swing my legs to develop momentum in order to sit upright on the edge. I think I'll go back to the old fashioned coil spring mattresses. I'll probably have the same pressure on my shoulders and hips but at least I should be able to roll out of bed without too much difficulty.
The mattress salesperson usually gets a little uncormfortable when I mattress shop. I sleep in a t-shirt and underwear, so I strip down to those so I can get a more at home feel of the mattresses I lay on at the store.
Do not look at CR online report. They only reviews are for people who aren't concerned about money. Reviews for the average person who has less than $800 to spend would be great, but not a concern for CR. Also, the top mattresses recommended, who the hell ever heard of these brands?!?!?
No mention of the importance of how tight the springs are, which I think is the problem with mine. I sent the mattress back to the factory as I sank into it too much. They changed the comfort layer for a firmer foam; now I still sink down but in addition get sore hips!
I boought a superking memory foam mattress and after just 1 years use it has developed craters on both sides. When you roll into the middle of the mattress, you roll "uphill"! I also hate the "deadness" of the material and worst of all is how hot it is. Never again!
I agree that finding a good mattress is very tricky. both my husband and I are side sleepers and we are average sizes. is there one you recommend for us?
I'm on a foam mattress rite now but it has sucken down so much it uncomfortable now I think I want a spring mattress again they are really comfortable now days.
Weights of mattresses?? Memory Foam weighs a ton and is hard to handle. (Even Twin Size.) Whatever happened to the lift handles that used to be incorporated into a mattress? Good content thanks.
We own an historic home with 7 bedrooms. I furnished 4 of the bedrooms with the "reject" mattresses we tried in our master bedroom. We tried a variety of innerspring (4) units over 3 years. The biggest problem we ran across was the first 4 mid range priced ones leaving body impressions that only got worse as we used them. FINALLY, we found "our" bed. We went with the king sized Tempur Pedic in a medium firm construction. What a pain to have to go through this just to get a comfortable nights sleep. The good thing is, all our finished guestrooms have practically brand new king mattresses. So I guess what I found out is this, paying more for a bed with no springs was the answer to a long drawn out problem.
I found they all have an odor but should dissipate ....I bought a 4 in topper that I saw when helping my niece move I tried it & told her order me one from wherever you got it gave her $ 100 & it was best investment I have ever made..no more turning from pressure against skin....have it least 3 yrs & still perfect I do rotate it has no dips/sagging and niece still using hers too....its exhausting looking for a mattress because you cant really test them .......
The wife and I were our mattress shopping today and laid on a lot of impressive beds ranging from 1200 to 5200 dollars. Not sure as to what we are going to get as we are also wrangling shopping for bedroom furniture at the same time (not recommended too many variables). We are still undecided as to what mattress we are going to get but I will tell you it won’t be a Sleep Number. We were not impressed with anything that bed system had to offer other than the heated foot area.
I am thinking about a Sleep Number Bed. What problems did you have? I do not want to invest in a bed that has problems what did you have please I need to know before spending that kind of money could you Help me???? Thank you dawn
I'm not sure that a soft mattress is the cause for numbness and tingling. It is possibly the reason that somebody would more likely sleep on his or her side and therefore cut off circulation in the thoracic outlet.
I don't understand why they said that aches and pains and tingling comes from a mattress that's too soft? I'm pretty sure that's from too firm because it just doesn't make any sense
I spent thousands of dollars on buying mattresses and then re-selling them within weeks dirt cheap. Then I tried air mattress with built in pump. Voila. Costs 1 tenth and you can adjust the stiffness. No back pain.
Agreed. I bought an air mattress 6 months ago sleeping great and not an issue as of yet. I’m a 125lb female, so if you are heavier set or are sleeping with a significant other then the risk of it developing holes is high.
i bought my first mattress last year and I'm disappointed with it its softness is gone in 1 week if you lay on one side of the bed, now each week i lay on the left side/middle/right side
Appreciate all you do here to inform us to make a better informed purchase. Question: Do CR recommend Casper mattress. I read about it and am leaning towards buying one. Just want CR approval. Pls reply. Thanks.
Thank you for all the valuable information. I have a genuine question, what do you call the way the commentator talks? I usually find people who talk that way very annoying IDK why, they sound fake/phony/imposters for some reason, I know it sucks to judge and I apologize in advance, but I just want to know if there is a name for this way of talking fromally or slang.
In case you're still looking or looking again, I just bought an Intellibed Nightfall a week ago, works well for side-sleepers like me, I'm about 230 pounds, 6 feet tall for reference as of now. You know they're NOT cheap, but with a 20 year warranty, it's worth it, going on the premise they don't degrade like the others. Purple acquired them less than 6 months ago (in September 2022, it's late February 2023 as I write this, since youTube doesn't like showing exact dates) and I wonder if I got one of the last beds that'll still be branded Intellibed, or if they're all going to be called Purple. It's a hybrid mattress.
My partner moves a lot during his sleep, and that shakes the whole bed, so it keeps me awake. Which mattress would be the best one to absorve the impact he causes?
Aside from the comfort of the mattress's, why not show how one has to flip one in order to make fitted bed sheets fit without slipping off during sleep hours? It too 2 strong men to manage to do just such function to my bed. I pity the loner or a couple, hetro or other. I am talking about a Full size bed, can't imagine anyone less an army to flip one of those mattress's for a Queen or KIng size.
They are talking about the poor regulations of organic beds. I'm sure that the company blurred is one of the offenders and doesn't want to be called out.
Let me warn you, if it feels good dont throw it away. I downsized my queen sealy posturpedic, bought in 1993 to a memory foam full size in 2016. Thats 23 yrs old! Boy am i sorry. The sealy was still excellent. The new one hurts. Not firm enuff. If you must switch stick to coil or hybrid. Memory foam not form enuff.
LOL They mean to subscribe on their website. They also have a quarterly magazine they make with all of the products reviewed as well. Both of those options are fee-based monthly subscriptions. Here's a link to their overview which might be enough information by itself: www.consumerreports.org/products/mattress/ratings-overview/
I slept on hundreds of different beds throughout the years in hotels, ( very high-end ones too) but NOTHING comes close to my Tempur-Pedic "Cloud supreme" no bulshit!! spend the money and don't worry about another bed for 20 years... you spend 1/3 of your life sleeping. invest in it! $700 does not cut it!! Imo of course
Spent $700 6 years ago for what I thought was an excellent mattress and a month ago it started sagging in the middle. Unacceptable! Aren't they supposed to last at least 10 years?
looking for a durable, firm yet plush mattress for the past 2 months and I am just as confused ...it took a month of research to buy my car. Ridiculous . My last Ikea mattress (sultan ) at a little over $500, only lasted us a little over 3 years!
Look into Intellibed mattresses, if you're still looking or looking again. They manage to be both firm and soft, depending on whether you distribute your weight across the surface from being a back or stomach sleeper, while the gel matrix (they were using this before Purple) buckles under pressure points like shoulders and hips. They're hybrid mattresses with multiple layers, no memory foam. Not cheap, but 20 year warranty.
Buying a mattress is worse than buying a car.
I'd upvote you all day on this one!!!!!
Selvyn C. I am in market for both and i agree
Can I give you 3000 up votes? I find buying almost anything easier than mattresses.

I am now a most happy owner of a Tuft & Needle mattress purchased thru their website. Have had it for 4 months now and it's a keeper!
I'm still using the Sealy Posturpedic I've had since 1981, and it's showing no signs of wear. Very comfortable as well.
You must be a light weight. Most mattresses i have had last 6 to 8 years and I only weigh 170lbs.
Hang on to that ! We are going to buy a latex foam mattress from IKEA soon. A few of my friends have bought these and been really happy.

It's all but impossible to compare mattress to mattress. The manufactures change the names from store to store so comparisons are impossible.

That's the guide that I have been looking for!
Do not look at CR online report. They only reviews are for people who aren't concerned about money. Reviews for the average person who has less than $800 to spend would be great, but not a concern for CR. Also, the top mattresses recommended, who the hell ever heard of these brands?!?!?

Thank god for consumer reports so I know I’m not watching a Casper ad that “isn’t an ad”
How come stomach sleepers were not mentioned? What are the recommendations for those sleepers?
Roll over!
Stop sleeping on your stomach would be mine.
I spent thousands of dollars on buying mattresses and then re-selling
them within weeks dirt cheap. Then I tried air mattress with built in
pump. Voila. Costs 1 tenth and you can adjust the stiffness. No back
pain.
Computermech Which one did you get? I've gone thru many bad mattresses and need a new one soon!

Agreed. I bought an air mattress 6 months ago sleeping great and not an issue as of yet. I’m a 125lb female, so if you are heavier set or are sleeping with a significant other then the risk of it developing holes is high.
What a great informative video on mattresses. Tfs...
Basically, you’re saying forget all I know, and sleep on the floor.
Consumer reports!
I can't find the guide for buying matterss!
Buying a plane easier than buying a F mattress
And some planes have beds, I just cannot decide on the mattress to go in the plane.
Me too,what the heck
What about purple and the white powder coating the mattress. Is it safe and are consumers inhaling it?
Stay away from bed in a box.
Sealy Serta Beautyrest is the way to go
i bought my first mattress last year and I'm disappointed with it
its softness is gone in 1 week if you lay on one side of the bed, now each week i lay on the left side/middle/right side
same here.. Hwat kind did you get
would love to know if your mattress sleeps cool, or warm or hot ???? Thanks !!!
Mattress buying made simple. Buy from Costco. Pretty much lifetime return policy. No cost returns.
Appreciate all you do here to inform us to make a better informed purchase.
Question: Do CR recommend Casper mattress. I read about it and am leaning towards buying one. Just want CR approval. Pls reply. Thanks.
No free recommendations. Subscribe.
i bought one and returned it. i like softer
Amazing video & very descriptive 😊
Thank you for all the valuable information. I have a genuine question, what do you call the way the commentator talks? I usually find people who talk that way very annoying IDK why, they sound fake/phony/imposters for some reason, I know it sucks to judge and I apologize in advance, but I just want to know if there is a name for this way of talking fromally or slang.
What about gel beds like intellibed or purple?
Watch out for the purple, there is a possible lawsuit on the horizon there.
It's a hybrid mattress.
and how can we get away from the toxic chemicals add to our mattress in our own "best interest "
My partner moves a lot during his sleep, and that shakes the whole bed, so it keeps me awake. Which mattress would be the best one to absorve the impact he causes?
@suspicionofdeceit lmfao
where are the links for ea mattress!!?
Have you guys tested eve mattress from UK?
Top tip, if you have a double bed get a king-size duvet it helps to keep your warm if your wife steals the covers in the winter 😉
I am watching this alone because I'm genuinely interested.
where can i get in nairobi one size 4x6x6 and what is the price. the nearest dealer in kabete/uthiru
Bought a $400 mattress. Started sagging in just 6 months smh $400 down the drain. Can't afford anything more expensive.
What is the best mattress showroom/store?
Where is a good mattress store to go too????😍
Why is one of the names on the mattress blurred out?
Because it is a registered trade mark and the manufacturer did not give permission to show their trademark in the video.
easy rest mattresses
Or the company didn't pay to be advertised on this fancy nice video lol
They are talking about the poor regulations of organic beds. I'm sure that the company blurred is one of the offenders and doesn't want to be called out.
So it doesn't get free advertising.
I've had my Sealy posturepedic for 24 years and it's still pretty firm. I'm getting discouraged here.
OK...so I subscribed...now how do I get the recommendations for particular brands?
MIKE McKool yes Dreambedlux
LOL
They mean to subscribe on their website. They also have a quarterly magazine they make with all of the products reviewed as well. Both of those options are fee-based monthly subscriptions. Here's a link to their overview which might be enough information by itself: www.consumerreports.org/products/mattress/ratings-overview/
Dreambedlux
I slept on hundreds of different beds throughout the years in hotels, ( very high-end ones too) but NOTHING comes close to my Tempur-Pedic "Cloud supreme" no bulshit!! spend the money and don't worry about another bed for 20 years... you spend 1/3 of your life sleeping. invest in it! $700 does not cut it!! Imo of course
Yeah, $3000 for a mattress is a total waste. Only a sap would pay that.
@Alan ReedYup totally agree. Just got rid of my Tempurpedic Cloud. A piece of junk and waste of money smh.
Expensive does not translate into a good mattress.
I am thinking about buying my mattress from Costco. Can anyone tell me their opinion on them?
Latex and memory foam are quite different feels.
In what way do they feel different?
I’ve brought 3 different mattresses and none of them are comfortable. Now I can’t find a topper that’s comfortable.
Not much information for stomach sleepers. Ugh....
Spent $700 6 years ago for what I thought was an excellent mattress and a month ago it started sagging in the middle. Unacceptable! Aren't they supposed to last at least 10 years?
I’m so mad, i just got a new mattress but its way to hard for me but now I’m suck with it
Get an organic latex mattress topper. Non toxic. Problem solved!
I feel you :x
looking for a durable, firm yet plush mattress for the past 2 months and I am just as confused ...it took a month of research to buy my car. Ridiculous . My last Ikea mattress (sultan ) at a little over $500, only lasted us a little over 3 years!
Planned obsolescence.
Is Sealy a good brand? BTW, I'm in Brazil.
Leonardo Oliveira Get a Serta
I sleep on the floor.....
Are you the count of Monte Cristo?
Excellent! Thank you CU.
and this one time, at mattress camp
So I have to join in order to get the reviews? Shiet.
