I have no words Eddy, you know we love you. I feel sad to see you like that and hear the bad news. We will pray for your recovery. You know we are here, all your brothers supporting you. Take care Eddy. God bless you.
Eddy's insurance decided that it would be cheaper in the long run to ship him back to the UK. This is the usual path for serious prolonged cases. Good news is he will have medical personnel accompany him on the flight. He will fly to the UK in 7 days provided he sufficiently improves. From Nick Dean's NDTV Thailand podcast.
Dear Eddy, Thank God you got the scan. Your decision to return to England is wise. May I suggest the following since I have 10 years plus caring for a wife who has Multiple Sclerosis and has no use in her legs and is wheel chair bound. : 1. Inform the airlines and airport if necessary that you will need wheel chair assistance from the taxi to the gate and loading into the plane. ( They have those very narrow wheel chairs to assist moving down the airplane isle. 2. If you have time, locate what are called "overnight" adult diapers which can keep you and your seat dry for 8 to 12 hours. Any adult large or extra large will help you be more comfortable if you cannot find the "overnight" style. 3. Obviously, you need a non stop flight to England if you can find one.... which will be expensive but worth not trying to transfer airplanes. 4. You will need a 4 legged walker to support you now and between wheelchairs, i forget the British term for these devices. 5. You might try a very high protein meal before your flight, just as the Spy Plane SR 71 Black bird, U2 pilots do. The crew feed the pilots a big meal of steak and eggs, just before their flight, to cover a very long flight, like 12 hrs, with no, how do you say, No Loo ;) So no bowel movement. 6. No caffeine.... no coffee, tea, coke etc within 8 hours of the flight to minimize urine production. Better yet, you need to switch to decaffeinated coffee right now. Good Luck and God Bless Mate, Scotty in Idaho

I think it is weird that so many people are trying to diagnose Eddy from afar. Based on what he said, He presented to the hospital with stroke like symptoms but did not get a scan. Second trip to hospital he gets a scan and doctor told him based on the scan it is not a stroke. Presumably, this rules out bleed. He said it is a "mass" and he stated it might be cancer. He stated that doctor said he is fit to fly. Cancer can create stroke like symptoms. As he said, this is not short term. Since he is likely facing surgery and more, he is clearly more comfortable going back. I respect his decision. Godspeed Eddy.
Exactly! A hotel room in Thailand isn't the place for him to be potentially going through all that in. And whilst having to worry about sorting finances and dealing with expiring visas. I think too many on here forget he was just there as a tourist.
I've been a silent watcher of your channel for years Eddie, and you've provided me with many a good chuckle! Wishing you the best for your treatment and a full recovery. God bless ❤
Eddy. You should have a brain MRI and consult a neuro surgeon before you fly as a blood clot on the brain is very serious if thats what it is. My wife and her father are medical professionals and say you may have suffered an anuerysm which should be treated ASAP. Same for a brain tumour wether erosive, malignant or not. Why are you alone.why is no one with you. Who will take you to the airport. We recommend you hire an ambulance to take you to the airport if you want to leave ASAP. But if you are fully insured best to get the treatment and care here in Bangkok. We are ready to assist in any way we can but we urge you to have an MRI and diagnostics before you fly. May God bless you and heal you.
Eddy. You must accept the fact you have had a minor but quite serious stroke which has impaired your sense of balance, the function of your arm and leg and caused the red mass on your brain which might be a clot. It would therefore be safer and more sensible to have treatment here rather than risk flying home now and going on a months long waiting list in the UK. we can pick you up in Pattaya if you choose to stay and have you well looked after at the WORLD MEDICAL CENTRE here in Nonthaburi with daily visits from me and my Thai wife who is also a medical nurse. Please consider your options carefully and let us know your decision ASAP.

"Ed Sweeny Update I went to see Ed earlier today, although he's still in ICU he was much more jovial. He is still paralysed down one side of his body and this is going to take time to repair, maybe months. Because it's not a stroke it should be quicker once they have removed the infection on his brain. For the moment he has to stay in ICU for at least another two nights. The hospital will tomorrow go to immigration for him because his visa expires today, so that's one less worry off his mind. Tomorrow I have to collect his suitcases and check him out of the hotel he has been staying in. I don't think he will be out of the hospital for the near future because they have to remove the infection and then he has to go through rehabilitation. The hospital told me he will recover but maybe not 100% they just don't know yet. I told him once you are better just carry on your retirement plans and head to Cambodia instead of going back to the UK. In my opinion he has better care here and he won't be waiting around for hospital appointments. We will go back to see him tomorrow. 🙏"

Eddy has not had a stroke or got cancer he is in a Private hospital near pattaya with an infection on the brain causing a swelling. He has been put on an anti-biotic drip... He has had a proper head scan. His situation does not seem to be life threatening for now
Ok it's only Google but something called encephalitis is a bacterial or viral infection which causes swelling in the brain. It can be life threatening. It can affect movement but also has symptoms unlike anything else Eddie seems to have experienced. But we KNOW a stroke can leave you unable to use an arm as in his case and, as he said, leave you needing to lift your leg leg somehow to get into bed. Not sure how a "proper" head scan would be different from the 10,000 baht scan he had before. Anyway, updates are welcome. But how reliable they'll be is open to question unfortunately.
And Eddie himself said he's already been told by a doctor he had a stroke. It's unclear who John is or how he got this information. If he has a serious update a longer post would have more appropriate.
@@ColinCampbell-di5qja CT scan is what Eddie had first and it’s a different proposition to an MRI scan which he had secondly. A CT scan takes seconds and an MRI on the brain (I’ve had one) like 40 minutes. It’s different technology. CT scan is radiology and an MRI involves very heavy magnetism

IMPORTANT (POSITIVE) UPDATE! - Just spoke to Nick Dean who said Eddy will get the treatment he needs in Pattaya and it's not as serious as Eddy makes out here - apparently it may not even be a tumour as previously feared but rather just an infection that can disappear without any surgery. Great news, and hope to see Eddy back again soon!
yes you're about 24 hours behind - For those not in the loop. Eddy was denied boarding. Nick Dean then took Eddy to Siracha hospital where he was given an MRI scan. Eddy hasn't had a stroke and the swelling wasn't bleeding, it turns out the swelling is an infection which is of course putting pressure on the brain, giving stroke like effects to mobility and cognitive thought. Hes on IV antibiotics, his spirits have lifted a little
@@soilentgreen7 Cheers, I only just spoke to Nick Dean in person so wasn't aware that this was already known. Hopefully Eddy can give us an update himself to keep those worried in the loop.

Thanks for the update. Better than expected but still serious.
And Eddie himself said he's already been told by a doctor he had a stroke. It's unclear who John is or how he got this information. If he has a serious update a longer post would have more appropriate.
There's an update below which I've just seen and is far better. Good news to an extent at least.
Thanks for the update, Steady Eddie. You've entertained us for years, now take care of yourself. Looking forward to the updates!
Whatever happens in the future mate, it’s been a great run, you’ve been blessed. Prayers for a total recovery. ❤🙏

Eddy we are all thinking about you. You have given us so much pleasure and information with your videos. It's hard to face the truth here. You may have to stop travelling and filming. Yes, others have had similar medical conditions and have recovered back to their previous state of good health. But you have prioritized what needs to be done right now.

Looks like you're making all the right decisions now! Glad you did the scan. Very concerning result but the care should be better in the UK. Good luck with the recovery..!!
I hope the NHS looks after you. Thank God for home. People knock the UK and NHS until things go wrong. Prayers and support to you Eddie.
Here here…. And Eddie loves to moan about the UK. When shit hits the fan, they all wanna go back home.
Yeah typical, like the rest of them, slag off England and come crawling back when they want something. Wanker.
@@KalK-ym7cd It's "hear, hear". 😂 How do you not know the difference between here and hear? Good grief.
People in the UK knock the NHS all the time, when things go wrong!
@@OrsJohnActually, it can be either, Google it

All the best Eddie, I've a sneaky sneaky feeling you'll be fine mate, you've found whatever it is fairly early, so look to the positive!
Nick Dean mentioned in his livestream that a neurologist will look at Eddy this morning and that he will also visit him again in the hospital in the morning.
Nick probably knows more by now.
Hopefully Eddy is feeling better and got more good news from the doctor
It's a shame Eddie left it so long before seaking medical help. Let's hope movement returns to his right arm and leg.
@@blurry_haze Good news for Eddy but incredibly bad luck to get a brain infection in Thailand..as something has bitten him or he's banged a buffalo by mistake ..
Godspeed, Eddie. Go where you feel most comfortable. 🙏🏻❤️
Eddie, this is very hard news to hear, but do not give up hope. You will be in the care of top professionals and recovery is absolutely possible. You're in my thoughts my dude! Stay up and keep that sense of humour of yours

We pray for you Eddie. I had cancer at 38, the worst part is the diagnosis, the initial shock, its a really dark place but then your survival instincts kick in. I recommend taking it one day at a time. Not feeling sorry why it happend etc. Turn into beast mode and believe. Remember, you aint no cookie cutter, you are special and will make it through. Keep fighting. God Bless.
Good luck Eddie , I pray for your recovery
Eddy, Godspeed. Wishing you a successful recovery.
