- The GPD Win Mini is a powerful windows hybrid PC in a very small form factor. It's designed primarily as a gaming device but there's much more to it than that. I've had it for about 2 months now and honestly, I love the GPD Win Mini but there's a few things to consider if you're thinking of getting one.

Just found this vid on my home page, well done and subscribed!
Crazy!!! I watch your workout videos and this is your first gaming one I've seen and I was thinking -man this dude looks and sounds familiar AF!
No way! welcome to this side too my bro 🙌🏾
Feels good to post again! Hope everyone's been doing great :)
PS: I appreciate y'all 🫶🏾
We’re here to watch all that you upload broski
Which handheld do you recommend most?
@@Wunnabeanbag I appreciate you fr bro! 🙌🏾
@@Homes23 The perfect one is yet to be made. There’s a compromise with every single one I’ve ever used so I just rotate as needed. I do find myself using the OLED SD the most when I’m home for its simplicity but sometimes I use the Ally/LLG when I want more power.
Getting tired of waiting for the switch 2. About to pick up an Ally but the bad battery an sd card issues stopping me.
Thank you for the thorough overview young man.
Thank you for watching :)
I do not limit the TDP at all if the thermal solution can keep it without throotling, i do change the turbo boost behaviour to "efficiency enabled" so it only turbo boost if necessary and only the amount it need and then i limit the fps to 30, if i need more battery i just use lower settings
Great review! Strongly considering getting one and selling my Ally. I love the Ally but even more portability would be great
Portability is the biggest thing for me with this. It's the only handheld PC I bring outside the house
Very good video and review!
Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks for the well done vid. How are the ergonomics when using the grips?
Heat is important for handheld devices as powerful and small as the Win Mini. I guess if you live in very cold areas of world; It could be a good thing.
But if you live in a small room or if you live in hot locations like Florida - the heat alone could be a deal breaker.
In terms of performance, size and ergonomics ROG Ally seems to be the gold standard.
It’s only up from here, thorough video as always!
Well said! and thank you :)
Nicely done video. I am still waiting for any manufacturer to make something in x86 that is slightly more portable for a mobile dev terminal running mainline. This is the closest out there without jumping to ARM.
All i need is a power bank and a usb c hdmi adapter and this thing is perfect
Really good video!
Thank you! :)
Can you do a comparison video versus the Rog and the Win Mini
Great Review! I just have to ask, is this the Win Mini with the metal shell or the plastic one that they updated to fix the heat problem?
This is the model with a metal shell :)
looks awesome
Great video!
Use the grip on only one side and the Win Mini will still fit in the compact case. 🤫
I wonder how difficult it would be to run steam os/chimera os/Holo ISO on the machine. I know it would make some games unplayable but, I really do think it could make the machine a little more user friendly. Could be something worth delving into.
Kind of pointless on this machine as you have a trackpad and keyboard making windows super simple to use. But people on the discord are running Chimera OS fine.
Hey Midas :) For someone who likes to play AAA Games on my way to work in the train, would you go for the Steam deck OLED or ROG Ally?
Ally for AAA no question but be ready to bring a power brick around with you. :)
@@midasgamespace Thank you!
I have a gpd win 4 (7640u) and it feels and just breaths quality but that performance on some games isn’t smooth would it be worth it picking up the mini or waiting for a new gpd? And yes there’s other brands and handhelds stronger but most lack that built in kb
@@thefoxhouse aya neo devices are cute, but there're a lot of troubles with performance and quality
Have you tried some Xbox/X360/PS2/PS3 emulation on yours? Been kinda thinking of getting the Win Mini 2024 with 7640u ... but not really sure what kind of performance and emulation performance i can expect there
aww thats so cute i really want it
Does it fit the grams28 sling you got in green ?
I live in South Vietnam and travel alot. Could you help me choose between Win Mini or Win 4 for heat and battery?
Do you chose ?
Yes
Nice ❣️
Thank you :)
Bro i got a request. May you do a review of using the tab s8/9 ultra as a one device for ALL. I’m thinking of getting one for gaming, work and leisure
I'll see what I can do my man :)
@midasgamespace 🙏
Can you attach a gaming remote and can you connect to a larger screen?
Yes you can 👍🏼
What bloat do you mean? Does GPD install bloatware? Plain ol' Windows11 has no bloat compared to the old days from vendors like Dell etc in the old days. would love to know what you mean. thanks.
Nice video.
Thanks bud! :)
Can you make a VS video on ally win mini rog ally steamdeck legion go...qnd make w conclusion which device youll choose ...unlike other comparison nonchoosing one
It has pretty good performance actually bro
Oh hell yeah it does! :)
Midas if you could pick one device for everything, Triple A games, emulation etc, what would it be? This?
Right now, that device doesn't exist as I keep finding myself liking the simplicity and battery life of the OLED steam deck but just can't come to terms with the limitation power since I tend to play graphically demanding games a lot on PC.
@@midasgamespace the Win Mini doesn’t have decent battery? Isn’t it able to play emulation and demanding PC games?
Can this run with Autocad and gimp? If so then maybe it's fine for me with 3 hours of battery life...
Nice Spiderman reference. 😃
I got a video idea. Try installing a egpu through the m.2 and use oculink. Btw love your chanel
Does it have a better processor than Legion Go/ROG Ally?
Processor is pretty much the same, but has more RAM.
The Z1 extreme is just the 7840u with the AI cores turned off.
I dont get your critics, at 20w and under the hottest i can say it i gets is slightly warm. Its certainly not hot or painful, but then again i also have a samsung ssd instead of the stock ssd which some say got up to 100c. My samsung ssd never goes above 61 usually in the 50s. As for fan, do you not have the fan curve turned on in motion assistant? Because at 20w and below and its quieter then the OG deck. But if you dont use motion assistant it sounds like a jet engine. I have motion assistant set to auto start at start up minimized. Auto tdp also works fantastic with it with a fps limit that you set. Do not download a 3rd party software like you said as none of them work as well as motion assistant with it barely using any resources. Its super simple to use once you learn it. And from the short video you showed of it, you did not have fan curve on which is why your fan is probably as loud as it is.
What do you do for a living!?
I love how Ryzen 7000 series could make tiny and portable PC looks appealing, and powerful in the same time.
I'm thinking hard to let go my OneXPlayer Mini 6800U for this GPD. Haha..
If you like portability, the Win Mini is a decent option for sure :)
👍
🙏🏾
Can he handle big data excel ?
Yea easily :)
wonder how it would run SteamdeckOS
Great video! I think it is a massive stretch calling that thing a "full size" keyboard
Thanks for watching and I definitely didn't mean the actual size of the keyboard 😂
Windows needs to make a specific cut down handheld build.
Man I've been saying this for so long now!
Can u play switch on it? At 15 tdp?
Yessir :)
I just dont think I could give up the dominant joysticks on my ROG ally.. if the WIN mini had even 80% of the Ally's joystick quality, I'd switch in a heart beat. -Basic AAA gamer
lil laptop 🔥
That's what it is!
How much is it?
Depends on the models and specs. I linked the GPD store in the description :)
Is it more powerful than the Asus Rog Ally ?
They use the same processor so expect about the same level of performance in most games.
Noice
It looks nice, but I don't know if I would have nerves to game on that small screen but I would have a Steam Deck with pleasure 😂
It's a different take on the handheld scene which makes it nice to use. The screen is about the same size as the regular steam deck. The OLED model is only slightly bigger. :)
Both this and steam deck is 7"
Its the exact same screen size as the OG deck and the ally, 7". The new oled deck is slightly larger at 7.4.
VRR is overrated. I've been moving between G-SYNC and non-G-SYNC monitors for the last 10 years and it's really unnoticeable.
I never notice the difference between having it and not, especially on these handhelds.
@@midasgamespace I think if you lock your fps its not noticeable, but in a game that jumps between 40 and 60 it is. In those situations i just lock the fps to 40 and have a better experience then having the game jump all over the place. But on the ally it is nice to not have to worry about that.
Hello bro 1 📦
Why are you so jacked
🫶🏾
Temps plus bigger screen size drove me to the Ayaneo Kun. Love my 64/4.
That's a solid choice from what I've heard. Hope you're enjoying it! :)
@@midasgamespace currently playing Nolvus via a Sonnet Breakaway 750 + RTX 4070 2 OC @ 45 fps.

Might have to check this out, Thanks! :)
LOL, instead of putting in full sized thumsticks they put a keyboard. What a waste of a device. Who is typing their thesis on this? Absolutely no one.
Imagine typing a thesis on that keyboard 😂 The carpal tunnel from that is gonna be something serious.
Or maybe the keyboard is not there for people to type out a thesis. It's a gaming device not a writer's companion. The keyboard can be used for functionality that would be difficult to replicate with an analog stick and buttons. For example, emulator hotkeys, a dedicated escape function, tabbing between programs, etc.
@@JB-tp6ujuhhh... no. that keyboard is a waste of time, space and money. It's exactly why keyboards went digital, they are too bulky for those kinds of mobile devices, plus it will probably be damaged from dirt and sweat or missing keys in no time.
@@sunrisesunset1734 I just gave you real reasons why those keyboards are used. You chose to dismiss them. They are also useful when web browsing. Just because you don’t have any use for them doesn’t mean others don’t see their usefulness. I had a Win 4 for nearly a year and had no problems with the keyboard or the slide out screen. It’s not that hard to understand.
@@JB-tp6uj You sat there and typed that the reason for slapping that bulky obsolete physical keyboard on to a handheld is for emulator hotkeys, the escape function and tabbing between programs? So what are all the other better selling Windows handhelds using? Magic? That's crazy. This thing is dead weight.
