This is a really well done video for this topic, I appreciate it. I am still holding out for a modern x86 UMPC that makes sense to carry in my pocket without looking obnoxious.
I appreciate that! Yeah that’s the dream, we just need battery tech to catch up. A truly pocketable device with this much power might not last very long.
@@BarelyAverageDude For myself since I will not be gaming, I am fine with underclocking as needed. I have been stuck on ARM for a mainline Linux pocket device and its like taking a step backwards from 2010.
I had the Win Max2, and yes it was nice having the larger screen. However, the performance is essentially the same, but double the weight. The screen and keyboard don't justify the doubling of weight.
I think the screen and keyboard DO justify the weight. You also get full size SSD support, an additional SSD slot, an LTE option, way more ports (including HDMI), much larger battery, a webcam, better cooling, a fingerprint scanner, etc. I'm not saying the Win Max 2 is better, I like the Mini WAY MORE. BUT the weight IS definitely justified for what you get. How could you get everything the Win Max 2 offers and still be light as the win Mini? Magic is the only way because the battery along is dense. 🤷🏽♂️
@@BarelyAverageDude It itsn't though. Both these devices suffer from poor ergonomics, and a 1kg+ device needs good ergonomics to be hand held. Thats ultimately why I sold my Win Max 2- it just wasn't good for gaming with the built in controls. I'm curious about the Win mini since its even lighter than the 'Deck.
@MrHamncheez I don't have too many handhelds to compare to, but I prefer the ergonomics of the Win Mini to the ergonomics of the Steam Deck. I used the 3DS and DS excessively for years and aside from the heft, it's a similar feel. I got it specifically because of the ergonomics. I've got tiny hands and cannot imagine using the Max 2 (no shade to it, but it'd break my wrists and thumbs) comfortably, but the Win Mini has got me playing games for the first time in ages now. If you get the Mini from Amazon, I think you can return it if you don't end up liking the feel.
@@jojosbizarretransgenderism Ironically, with my very medium sized hands, I felt like they were TOO big for the Max 2. The left thumb stick is right next to the edge of the device, so using it requires you to hold your left thumb too far left- right now, make a fist and reach over with your thumb and touch your pointer finger base knuckle. Thats what it feels like all the time. I would cramp up after 45 min of play. Smaller hands would fair better. If the left thumb stick and the arrow keys were swapped, your thumb would be in a more natural spot and I probably would have kept the device. The Win Mini has the same thumbstick layout so I'm equally concerned about it.
i know there are a lot of people who don't mind or even prefer bigger handhelds, but in my case I love small handhelds and that's the reason of why I sold my deck and bought the Ayn loki, because the size. now I'm thinking on buying the win mini if they decide to make a new version with 8000 series
Gad this mini its perfect tho i sold it immediately theres a time my screen flickering on qn angle while opening durability of the unit is no great qnything with moving parts
Do you enjoy having the Mini and the WIn Max 2? I have the mini but I'm considering the Win Max 2 as well. What's your use case with these two devices?
TBH I think one of those is enough. Understandably the mini has a smaller screen, but I'd recommend a portable monitor before an entire 2nd device. My use case is just Barely Average testing. How would you see yourself using both?
@BarelyAverageDude thanks for sharing your thoughts. Im in the market for a new laptop that could be used for gaming and work purposes. My current laptop is a 2019 Razer I may just go with a traditional laptop instead based on you comment. It would be nice to have both, but there are they are essentially the same device. Just that the mini is smaller
@@Slyclientthetechdad I hate to say it, because I love handhelds; but if you’re in the market for a laptop, you’re probably better off getting a laptop for the cost of the win max 2. Keep the win mini for handheld gaming, and have a gaming laptop for more intense gaming.

Tape measure necessary for the chungus handhelds lol. It's crazy how light the win mini is dispite having a 7inch screen, touchpad and keyboard
Yeah it’s crazy! Win mini may be the smallest 7in handheld. (When closed)
And you gotta love a chungus 😅
I really dig the GPD win form factor, will see what the next version offers.
I think a GPD WIN 4 style device with a 7.4in 1200p, 120hz display would be the perfect device.
Thanks man, very great video (:
Thank you for the video and don't feel obligated to apologies to every negative comment you get you're doing great
Thank you, I appreciate it.
I was planning to make this video from the beginning so that apology was just me having some fun. 😅
That was actually super helpful, thank you!
Glad it helped
This really makes me wish that my gpdwinmax2 wasn't a lemon and actually work. I would really like the winmini for camera bag.
Excellent comparison video. Hope you can do video testing the GPD G1 with various devices (if you have one).
I don't have the G1 yet.
Ingl i like how is look and features it have tho(keyboard, touchpad, build in controller)
And elegance
It’s definitely a unique device.
Tape Measure. This video was an act of dedication.
I had to make up for "wasting" that one guys time. 🤷🏽♂️😅
What joystick cover do u use for ayn Loki i saw one on your older performance tests. I was wondering if you can maybe leave a link?

It’s caps made for Xbox controller

They announced the 8840u win mini
Loses occulink, gains USB-A, 8840U chipset, and native portrait 7" 120hz VRR display (same screen as the Ally)
The loss of oculink is a killer for me tbh, I'm depending on it for my setup
Tape measure great video dude!
Appreciate it 👍🏾
Well done video. Tape Measure 😂
lol appreciate it
Nice video

Small question, how much does the WIN Mini weigh with the grips?
Let me check.
@@BarelyAverageDude You are supposed to answer at some point with such an answer you know.

The WIN Mini is best compared to Ayaneo Air 1S if you have it on hand
Which device will be best for MGS Delta?
that angry commenter better be happy now
Lol they gonna say I forgot to compare it to the Switch 😅🤷🏽♂️
if i didn't get the a1 pro, i'd get the mini for its size.
You know what’s up 👍🏽
the Win Mini is a great accessory for the Win Max 2 lol
lol right. The perfect duo
a portable accessory))
That was my reason for picking one up to compliment the max 2 😁
What are you using for video editing and music? I like your style and would like to do something similar.
I edit in Final Cut Pro X
Music from Envato elements
