Happy 30th Anniversary Metroid! As part of this celebration, DoctorM64 & his team released the long awaited full version of this monumental achievement. Taking 10 years to make, it really shows! This is a fantastic fan game that feels like an official Metroid game made from Nintendo when they cared and in some ways, even better. It truly is a game we Metroid fans have been waiting for forever! That's the other thing too, 2 days after release, Nintendo put a DMCA claim on this and C&D it. Nintendo had something planned for us good for Metroid, right? Nope, nothing, natta, zip.......
But they'll give us Federation Force that no one wants, good job Nintendo...
Anyways I don't want to leave this on a sour note, people have backed this up and are sharing it online, so there's ways around it so you can get it for yourself and play this marvelous gem.

@@danielblake1537 oh boy, you won't be able to play this game ever. Its a fan game witch is also been cancelled by Nintendo threatening to sue the fans who made it. You can't even find any links to download it on PC anymore. Unless some god has a link/the actual files that they can send you its impossible to play...

@@LightRaven96 If you didn't know, the game is still very findable online. There's even a launcher that allows you to make an apk that is playable on android.

Serris, Arachnus, Torizo...all creatures that were in Fusion. Because the Space Lab in Fusion housed creatures from SR388, so it's just logical you would find them in their home planet as well.
It didn't _only_ house creatures from SR388 though. There were also a lot of species from Zebes (Evir, Skultera, Kago, Powamp etc.), and previously unseen ones as bosses.

@Marcelo Zuniga I'm assuming that's sarcasm lol. Yes, I assume back when the game was released, they didn't think that far ahead, but Other M gave them convenient options. It was initially stated that the Zebesian X forms were from a team of Space Pirate marauders that just happened to raid the research station at a bad time, though this was retconned with Other M.
I find no compelling evidence to suggest Serris is from SR388

I felt the same. It was like you're gonna fight a tough boss with a payoff. I wish boss battles gave you this kind of dread. I literally come back there just listening to it.

Honestly I'm still in love with graphics like this basically 2-D 16-bit graphics done well....I don't see why more game companies don't create more games with those type of graphics but just done better because technology, of course has grown by leaps and bounds but it's annoying to ALWAYS see all the triple AAA titles/ companies that come out are mainly still pushing for the MOST realistic looking graphics, which don't get me wrong they're cool and I enjoy them, but some of my all time favorite games were great looking 2-D games The Legend Of Zelda Link To The Past, Castlevania S.O.T.N., Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, Contra 3 Alien Wars/ Hard Corps and many more but I am glad to see indie game companies that you can tell appreciate good retro games....like Shovel Knight was a great game, there's some newer titles that look awesome I just can't remember their names off the top of my head one was like Eggos or something a platforming game where your a kid with a sword graphics look amazing I just think people should focus on gameplay more than just graphics this game compared to Nintendo's 3Ds version is a good example this guy did a better job of what Nintendo originally created better than they could do themselves now because I much rather have this version compared to the other one with the melee gimmick

Officially the original Metroid 2 has the subtitle of Return Of Samus, whereas the official remake of that game changes it to Samus Returns.
I remember playing this remake. Was freaking fantastic. Love this community of modders and players who just love Metroid.

I beat this game so many times when it was on the Gameboy many years ago you guys got this dead on with a few more features I only dreamed of at the time in 1992 lol but great job I want it

This is one thing I hate about Nintendo: If they put out a game, and it doesn't sell as well as they would have hoped, they dump the entire franchise!

But that's how it works. If a game doesn't sell well clearly not so many people like it, and considering games as complex as the metroid ones take years to develop it makes sense why they wouldn't want to waste that time making a game almost nobody buys

I started playing AM2R several days ago... I completed most of the Industrial Complex without beating the Torizo boss but it was hard with only spider ball and tedious bomb jumping :D
I hate that Nintendo doesn’t publish these kind of games to stores and they just put Mario as their main character almost every game
I just have to ask, why'd you go to the trouble of trying to beat the Queen Metroid with just Morph Ball bombs? That seems like it takes a lot longer, imo.
Just use a power bomb at the final phase to plow it up lol

They are very different. I find some things from this game better and some things from the official one better. Some things from this game seem kinda silly to me.
The official did the metroid fights way better. They feel more like a threat while in this they seem goofy to me
It's 'nadda', not 'natta', but it's a really old term usually spoken instead of spelled so this is just extra nit-picky on my behalf.
Great playthrough, it inspired me to get the game for myself. Granted, that was also because there were a few parts in the early game where all I could think was "There must be an easier way to do this." Either way, thank you so much for this upload! I love longplays and you did a great job showing off an amazing game!

This and Metroid Dread were the best Metroid games in the last 20 years...and this was a fan game and Dread wasn't all that great. What does that tell you about this franchise 😔
Although I never had the chance to play this game, I see why nintendo was doing there fans dirty, they can make top quality games better than they can.
Thanks to the developer who recreated this game, it needed a remake while Nintendo ignored its fans. They deserved so much better.

Nope, it’s a full coded game mostly from scratch, requires no emulator or ROM. Unfortunately, Nintendo C&D-ed it, and the game no longer has an official download link. You can still find it if you look around.
