Can Ava be REDEEMED for Borderlands 4?

- Ava is a universally hated character from Borderlands 3 but at the same time ended that game set up as one of the most important characters by being both a siren and the acting commander of sanctuary. So even though they're hated so much, are they redeemable?

I think what should have happened is that Typhon shouldn't have died. (Hear me out) And once Lilith sacrifices herself, he should have taken over and been teaching ava. She was too young to take over the raiders but with his guidance she would be able to learn how to be a good leader. Additionally, this gives typhon the chance to atone for his mistakes as a father of the Calypsos. He now has the chance to raise another siren, who, like his children want to go out and explore. But this time instead of keeping them locked up, he journeys with them. At the end of borderlands 4 he could have sacrificed himself to save her, allowing her to fully step into being the leader and completing both their character arcs.

I like this idea but since Typhon's already dead, I could see Amara taking up that role as Tannis is also quite inexperienced. Ava should have a mentor in the coming game
In my opinion, she'd be better as an antagonist. It's important to note that none of the canon VHs can be considered 'good people' (except maybe Krieg), and the heroes & villains of this universe change as often as the weather. I think that if they could make Ava a compelling villain, and give her an excellent cast of support villains, she'd be fantastic.
I don't see any reason that she would have to evil. Maybe an antagonist that's racing you to the Vault but Avas character would need to change drastically to make them a villan

You know, I wouldn't be surprised if any veteran members of the Crimson Raiders, that were once part of the Lance, would kind of make any remarks about how the Raiders are essentially making similar mistakes to the Lance, given how they essentially had a toddler as Admiral, which would give more reason for friction between the members.
I love this so much. Would be an awesome through line. Crimson raiders have been more bad guys then good despite stopping Jack. Would be a great story to tell with Vault Hunter's actually being on opposing sides to them for once creating a fresh new dynamic

Though, considering how it's up to debate as to whether or not the raiders could be held accountable, for even having a hand in creating the monster that Jack would become, therefore essentially just cleaning up a mess that they helped to make, I'd imagine there would be those who would also start debating whether Athena's story held some water, with Ava's newfound authority just acting as the final straw of sorts.

OK, bur why rhough. Does it only go as far as them being annoying and not earning their place? Your saying that even if they got the best written in the world you would still just hate Ava because you want to?
Nah, just make her the Main Villain for BL4 and a Raid Boss.
Then make full on Community Events like "Kill Ava 1 Million Times" to unlock Skins, Weapons, Keys, etc.

I agree that they're a bad character. But are they truly irredeemable in your eyes from just being a mid character in bl3
@@Cashew1405 Pretty much. Nothing they can do can make me like the character. The well was poisoned so much that I know anything written for her has the sole purpose of going "please like her".
edit: My biggest issue that no one really ever points out is how they practically skipped her character growth in the game's story. Her character just suddenly 180 shifts as if tons of development happened when in reality she had 4 lines of dialogue to that point. You cant' fix a mistake that big.

Ava is the main character and only playable vault hunter and she is always "talking or asking Lilith things"
She'll never be a playable Vault Hunter because she's too important to the actual story. Idea if that would be the nightmare situation as we'd get a siren to play as and Ava wouldn't be in the story as much
Plot twist: She is playable and arguably one of the most broken sirens in the series but she also has the most dialog and constantly talks to the player... 😂
It sounds like a good story concept, having Ava get the character growth she didn't get before, but it's doubtful Gearbox will be able to pull it off.

Ava became a siren when she touched Troy's corpse. The whole sirens choosing their successor was very cryptic but it worked for reasons we don't yet know

I dunno. Ava sparks my villian arc. Lmao. I would love if 4 was about Ava trying to live up to the title of leader of the crimson raiders and failing with a villian trying to convince us to betray her for her inpetitude so far before giving us a choice of ending. Betray her or maybe if she has redeemed herself enough by the end, stay with her and help her fullfill her jounrey into being a comptent leader.
I feel like it would be a nice challenge for their writing team to prove they can make Ava into a redeemable character. Heck. It doesn't even need to be an ending. It could just be a choice to gauge how players feel about Ava but either way she continues doing her best to live up Maya and Lilith.
She was the reason Maya died and was then rewarded for it.... she can redeem herself by dying

This, and allowing her to reflect more on Maya as a teacher could be useful. The bottom line is her bad dialogue and unearned moments. The next game would need to give her no slack and force her to struggle before achievement. But I just don't think the GBX writing is capable at this point.

You don't have to answer that. I don't want this to be a stupid debate over a characters gender & i do agree that Ava could be save, just play her DLC. She was less insufferable.
That could work. The old crew can also respect Liliths decision and work beside her as a council until she is able to lead on her own, like if a younger child of a king takes over the kingdom. His father's best would groom the king essentially

@@Cashew1405 Yeah, I think she was officially 15 during the events of BL3, so I think she has some time to mature and reflect on things.
I mean, we already had the foundations of her trying to redeem herself, during DLC 6, so I'd say it's likely that we'll get some of that in a later game.

No offense but the playable Vault Hunter has never been the focus of the story. Never. It is not your story, you are merely experiencing it. The main characters are Lilith, Tannis, Moxxi and Claptrap.
I also think that the vitriol over Ava has grown far too much. Bro, that's a child and you want her to die brutally. She's fictional, yes, but that's still fucked up.
It was just 1 avenue to go down lol. These are just ideas I had that might be able to redeem Ava. The Vault hunters have never been that big a part of the story, BUT since the story of bl3 got a lot of flak for that, they could go down the route where they are more involved. The playable characters do already talk and interact but just have very stilted dialogue and vanish during any of the cutscene's.

@@hallowfiended Idk. The first two games did a good job of making the villain act as if they had beef with you the vault hunter. Three makes it feel like they beef with the people standing behind you.
They kind of redeemed her with dlc 6, honestly. People seriously need to let up. The community is putting itself into a mental place where anything short of a masterpiece will be deemed a disaster.
I don't entirely agree with that tbh. Dlc 6 while not too bad all things considered, didn't really give that much lore or put in that much effort to give Ava growth.
It was all just too cryptic for me personally to call it a win, y'know?
@@Cashew1405 They did what they could. You can't retcon a character of a game within that same game. You can polish it up, but that's really it. They can really help her character in the next one by simply aging her and making more sensible and coherent story choices. Wonderlands gives me a bit of hope, as it tied together well. New Tales not so much. I won't panic until we see who's writing this one.
yeah, i didn't expect them to retcon Ava's personality in the DLC just to have them take a clear step in the right direction to show where her character would go.
