Two big fan favorites battling against each other, great match. Xu Xin for his power, Koki Niwa for his playstyle. Xu Xin played extremely well and controlled the match after the first set.

Having played against someone who's better than you it can be quite defeating mentally. You're playing your best and still can't win. Feel bad for Koki!
Koki does not have any chance against XX, without being that much worse. It is just the combination of playing styles.

Since last year, XX's backhand has improved it more like he doesnt need to use his forehand even if the ball is already on his backhand side. His bh is very consistent so far. With powerful shots and high spins because of his penhold grip, it makes his bh and fh very deadly.

Koki style is very unique one of a kind in table tennis, so Xu actually trained for close to a year to counter Koki close range chopblock playing style. Notice Xu is in fact not comfortable playing in close range style. Xu's change in his own style must've caught Koki unprepared!
xu xin is a very smart player, when in 2017 he lost against koki niwa, he already started to learn about koki niwa style. very nice move
