I got a blue oil fern because of your previous video about it. It's such a beautiful little thing. It gave me its first leaf a few weeks ago! I'm such a helicopter parent to it. I made a special substrate mix especially for it. *fingers crossed* it continues to do well and looks as nice as yours one day!
Every. Damn. Time. You show blue oil ferns, I go looking, on the internet......(I'm in the U.S. and haven't resorted to importing). I FINALLY found and purchased one from a U.S. seller and I'm STOOOOOOOKED.
Kaylee you should get some unusual Hoya’s ie Hoya Wilbur graves and Hoya carnosa nova ghost, it’s so hard to find a plant in this country and a lovely plant for your home, as I think they are safe with pets.
I found a red crystallinum at my local nursery for £15. It was the only one among the regular crystals in the 'rare plant' area. It had two teeny leaves but it was obviously different from the others. Snapped up that little bad boy 😅. It has since grown two much bigger leaves and is gloriously dark green and red.
Some plants from Thailand and Indonesia are coloured and the parent's plant will be ok but, but as you do propagation and as time passes .it turned into its normal colour eventually.
I don’t sell plants, but I love watching your videos on investment plants. It’s pretty amazing to see how the values fluctuate and helps me see what I should buy now and what is worth waiting on. 😂
I would love the variegation rant. I have a Portulacaria afra Rainbow (I know it's not your kind of plant, but it is variegated lol) that is actively trying to end itself by only growing white leaves. I've tried cutting it below the point where it gets more white than green, to try to encourage more green/less white growth, but it insists on just growing white. So please, bring on the rant, I think it'll be cathartic for me lol
The variegated Tetrasperma still goes for a shocking amount in South Africa 🙈 I saw a 3 leaf plant selling for the price of my rent a while back, and they're still quite difficult to come by. Such a stunning plant though! Maybe in a few more years 🤞🏻
In Germany the price dropped a loooooot for Tertra var. You often get them for under 100 Euro. I have seen some cuttings for around 70 Euro lately. Crazy that it's so different for other countries... 😢
@@hvonsus5725 I’m in central Texas. Nurseries in Austin & San Antonio have them. A small business in San Antonio is currently selling a pretty big one for $225 USD.
From the 1st moment you dropped the vid with sp Tropicals, I’ve always thought it looks & grows like Philo Sharoniae. I think if you got one to size up, that would definitely be more of a teller if it’ll elongate & get more of the ribs. Sharoniae totally has thin leaves also & those cute ears. It sizes up pretty quickly but I’ve noticed it likes to drink, feed, & be attached to something to climb.
I just bought my first anthurium from the Ecuagenera nursery in Florida. It’s a crystallinum x regale hybrid. I love it. I’m worried I might be staring a new plant obsession. It’s the only plant that traveled back home with me and still looks amazing. Didn’t suffer any damage at all. The philodendron on the other hand are all crusty, yellowing, just not happy. Anthurium are the best!
I finally got a variegated chiapense and I am in LOVE! It is amazing and popping out leaves all the time. Plus I had a couple leaves with low variegation and then BAM! A half moon. They are fantastic. 😂
I’m not sadly. I’m an expat living in Australia. You guys have so many cool plants there we just can’t get due to import restrictions. I may move back just for that reason! 😂
I have a Beautiful hybrid anthuriums called a "Thai Red" he's not as cool as the Red crystallinum, one looks very different from the other, one has red leaves when he gets a new leaf. I'm looking at getting a Microsorum Thailandicum.
Heya, I love seeing all your plants and your attitudes are really inspiring for me! I don't know if you want feedback or not so feel free to ignore me but I'd really love to see your videos in 4k, it would help get a really detailed look at the plants :) Thanks for all the videos!
Hey kaylee, first of all I love your videos and I hope you’re doing well I remember a while back you showed your delta force and said that in the future you will have some selfed seeds Now my question, will you sell some as germinated seeds? I would love love love to buy one, but can’t spend a fortune 🥲 Thank you so much for all your videos and all the best for you ✨
LOVE this! Thank you so much. If/when you have time, would it be possible to do a video on conditions to have the Whipple Way achieve it’s ideal white/pink in new leaves? Or if anyone in the community has experience, open to ideas. Have tried close to grow light vs close to an indirect sunlight window. Still getting green/cream. I haven’t yet tried humidity level testing, or perhaps it needs a grow light with different conditions or length of light exposure. It’s definitely a whipple (not a snowdrift), as it had pink when it came to me :)
Kaylee, I got my M. Thailandicum after seeing your first video. That was one of the only times I ever got a direct YT suggestion, and it was worth it! Thank you :) My seller suggested any aroid mix "like a rotten tree" works. I'm using 50% coconut chips with vermiculite and potting soil. I would love to hear more about how you are raising yours, because hardly anyone really gets into that. The prices went down a lot since your first video, but they are still in the mid to high double digits in the US, depending on the size. I'm guessing the prices will stabilize but never be garden-centre cheap, because they do take a long time to grow.
the blue oil fern isn't that blue, that's camera settings. the iridescence is much more intense and stronger than selaginella willdenowii, and the same as elphoglossum metallicum. EM is the same kind of plant as blue oil fern with the same kind of iridescence. blue oil fern care: keep all the leaves exposed to light because the ones that are hidden under other leaves will weaken and fall off but that's ok. keep it moist. i use a thin layer of sphagnum moss on mine as i'm watering everyday. i live in a humid country and it grows well - it's healthy, but expect it to grow very slowly. as for a reasonable price, i got mine at USD35
I use to sell a top cutting of a Verracosum for $175 and now i cabt even get $15/20 for them. The market has seriously decreased! I can hardly even sell them in my local market. And due to location, ita too hot to ship from. 😒
I'm still learning about syngonium and I just came from the syngonium rare plant index video where syngonium chiapense was not liked at all.. to this video where it's praised for the way it feels; so does the variegated version feel differently to the non or is it just better for the variegation?
I tried to sell a batch of propagations in the spring which all really sold well last year but now I couldn't get them off so ended up gifting them to friends😂
Love microsorum. So slow growing, though :( Huperzia are also an arm and a leg, so possibly a good investment with fern-heads. I know I've spent quite a bit more than I should have on them :P

Drop that variegation rant!

You are so lucky, because it is my favorite plant everrrr!!
Bonjour ! La fougère Microsorum thaïlandicum est superbe ! Trop méconnue. Je vous remercie de me l'avoir faite découvrir 🍀👍

I have to say, I really hated that blue fern in the beginning, but it's growing on me. I might have to find me one

We have Variegated tetrasperma at some garden centers here in Texas now & it’s become quite affordable! Would love the variegation rant!!
Where in texas are you? I’ve not seen any in my nearby ones (I’m up by Dallas)

Also yes PLEASE to a variegation vid!
The blue oil fern got up in price in Germany. Glad I bought mine last year.
I love my blue oil fern ....it was one of my first " rare " type plants. I love it ❤
Omg!!! How beautiful!!! I love the blue oily fern!!!! 🙋🏼♀️🌿🪴💚🐩
Spiritus Sancti is less than $100 in our area for a small plant

your Investment videos are awesome! Mainly because like all of your content it's genuine and unvarnished. Like the seller ;) More!

Maybe the selby's Silver is looked after bc it is one anthurium that stays smaller?
