Would love to see an updated Rare Plant Index philodendron version 🤩

Best topic for New Year’s video would be your predictions on what will be popular in 2024. Only your predictions were accurate so far and thats one of the reasons Im a proud longboi member for almost a year now. 😎
I worked At Allensmore nursery here in the uk. And I can confirm , the amount of wasted plants , honestly most of which are genuinely healthy plants , just with a few dead leaves or stress spots. Generally just go straight into the bin…. It’s actually what got me into plants :) My work was just wasting Begonias…. (Aswell as other plants obviously , but Begonia just stood out too me like nothing else) And I liked the challenge of nursing them back to good health , plus it was always free. And now I’m a complete fucking Begonia fiend 😂😂
The begonia is B.soli-mutata. You can prop it by stem or leaf cuttings, but I would recommend stem cuttings. Water or moss prop can work, I usually do moss unless they are cane begonias. My var soli-mutata puts out one regular leaf, and then one variegated. I don't know why it does it just wants to 😢 but it makes me think it isn't as prone to revert as other variegated begonias.
I guess correctly for the first one. Lord, my calathea hates the winter. So I moved it under grow lights. My favorite line is that everyone's got uglies. Its true and that why I like your channel because you keep it real and honest with us and share your opinion.
Personally , as someone with just under 300 begonia…. (I know😂) I’d cut & cloche. Usually I’ve found when something like that happens, it’s likely humidity & either too much or too little light :) (If we’re already assuming medium choice isn’t the issue , as alot of the time that’s actually the root cause of everything.. people choose wrong soils) The cloche method seems extremely useful for most Begonias. (I got the method from Steve’s leaves) And it’s always, my #1 go to method I’ve found , definitely helps. (Just do a quick search on the species before hand) Incase it doesn’t want humidity. Hope this helps someone :)
Begonia are pretty easy to propagate since they can always reshoot from old nodes and can also be propagated via node cuttings (like a philodendron) or you can also propagate via leaf cuttings (it can even be halt a leaf). As long as the leaf cutting has one of the main veins on it, than it is a viable cutting. But for simplicity's sake I'd recommend you to just clean it up a bit and do node cuttings in water, bc you have too msny plants in the shop to care about a bunch of small begonia leaf cuttings growing in a closed moss container 😅
Kaylee, begonias can be propagated with stems or leaves. Their success is lower than aroids, but you can get more faster; that's the trade-off. I recommend a humid enclosure, and taking cuttings from mature stems that have arial roots.
Begonia: it seems to be Begonia solimutata. I´d take cuttings and put it in water. Within 2 months small leaves will emerge from the leaf central vein in the middle plus from the bottom top of the petiole/stem (sometimes even in other places). There are also other methods from the leaf in soil (everywhere on the internet), but I prefer water propagation (it´s super easy). I´m currently propagating 5 begonias in water and 95 % success (the dead 5 % one leaf was attacked by thrips and severely damaged). Very easy to propage. So I´d restart it by propagation and toss the dead rest of the plant.
I agree! I had a white fusion, had to leave it when I moved and would love another…. Total pain in the ass and constantly getting spider mites and having to be cut back but just so damn pretty
I had good success doing leaf propagation of Begonia in spagnum moss in a plastic take away container with a lid and a little air hole and it only took a few days to a week to grow roots
The first one I saw I knew immediately what it was both by look and by knowing you and i think remembering that exact plant actually, so I am feeling *pretty* good about myself xD
I propagate my begonias by taking top cuttings, dip in a little rooting hormone and stick in potting soil in a self watering pot. Much faster than trying to root in water. If it's an angel wing with large leaves then I cut half the leaf off. After roots form, I pot into soil in a regular pot and keep moist, gradually reducing the soil moisture over a few weeks. Since, I don't really use pon or lecca, I don't know how you would proceed from there.
I got rid of all begonia lol but my maculata angel wing, though it has a thicker stem then the variegated one you have, but it was a DREAM to prop. Water rooted so quickly😊
That variegated begonia goes for so much money here in the US, hilarious that yours looks so pitiful 😂. I don’t own one, but from others I’ve seen, the variegation only appears on the leaf tips the way it does on the one leaf I see. Hope he comes back, I think he’s cute.
The merch looks fucking crazy !!! Please , please keep making merch like this. I’ve been looking everywhere the last few months , and I just can’t find anything like this. So hopefully , il get the Shirt & fertiliser before for Christmas 🫣
I don't have any experience with the Mint Burle Marx Philodendron, but the yellow variegated one is well known for throwing fully green leaves and then coming back... I think I saw someone selling a reverted Burle Marx Mint for 10% of the regular price on Marketplace... be right back!
I have a little baby Calathea White Fusion and I keep it in a semi-open cloche in my bathroom. It is THRIVING in the humidity. My last one died a death pretty swiftly --it was kept in my bedroom and there was not enough humidity for it at all. Still hoping the little one will keep on as it is.
So, I was able to guess that the first one was a White Fusion! I had one! You will be pleasantly surprised that they will “appear” dead and miraculously grow back. I think they can semi-go dormant? I’d say just water it and keep it as a project and see if it’ll grow back.
I think some people suggest selling the sad plants instead of chucking them because they feel a kinship to you and in theory would be willing to buy sad plants just to say they have a Kaylee plant and just to support you and of course we all have a weird relationship with our plants anyway. Just my thoughts.
Ugliest! Ugh! The week before Thanksgiving I got really sick. My plants have suffered so much because I have been sick for 4 weeks. My latest victim is a calathea roseopicta. Two other calatheas, pink star and dottie, also suffered. A philodendron micans didn't escape either. Everyone is fighting to come back from my neglect. Love your channel and content! I will be getting a Longbois shirt and feed when I'm healthy enough to work some overtime. The shirt is 😘❤❤❤ Have a Happy Christmas!
Back again to ask about the orchids untill you address it 😂 I know a dead prayer plant when I see one 😂 I was sick and I've neglected my plants a bit. Everythingnis fine... Except for the Stromanthes. Even the Calatheas are alright-ish. The Triostar and the Magic Star are like 90% dead. Begonias are a scare plant to me. It was one of the first plants I had and I have no idea what happened cause I did research it. Maybe my environment was bad... It just died. But it died in the slowest ugliest most problematic way possible. Every plant problem ever - it had. Crisp, mold, rot, pests, everything you can name - it had. Now, when I see a begonia, I back away SO fast. I'd rather have a calathea. I'd rather have anything else. I've recently got a philodendron El Choco Red... It did not ship well. It immediately started wilting and yellowing. I did an emergency repot like a week later, it got even worse. The roots appeared fine, I used the same aroid mix I use for everything, put it in a moderately light spot where I've grown another philodendron. I ended up chopping the top a frw days ago. The bottom is dead as dust. It just really hated its life in shipping.
oh, that reminds me, have you actually managed to id your big spathiphyllum? I think it's a variegated sensation, you can get non variegated sensation too and it looks like your plant.
I'm from Australia 🇦🇺 The Calathea White fusion is relatively easy to get here online. I love mine. Hard to see what happened to yours. The Aglaonema Tricolour is not. I have looked for months and I'm now on a wait list waiting for them to be restocked from 1 online shop.. Love your shows💗
You could just teleport your unprofitable plants 😜 We need to connect Kaylee with Santa for free deliveries, right? Lol. But I feel yeah. I’m overrun with subpar PPP that I personally don’t want anymore
Lol I want to come to England and work for you for free for a couple weeks to clean up the neglected plants. Possibly in exchange for travel costs? Or non rare cuttings? I feel so sad for those plants. I love burle marx!
I kinda remember content centered around near death White Fusions a few years ago. Admit it - you're a White Fusion serial killer! There's always that one plant we just want to have. Mine: Oncidopsis Nelly Isler. It's my 5th plant by now. Yeah... feels bad man.
Kaylee… I have a Monstera Albo that started off with beautiful leaves, and now 8 leaves in every other leaf is green and every other leaf has beautiful verigation… Is there anything I can do to get it back to all verigated? Any suggestions?
Girl ! some of your uglies look better than my good ones lol :-) and let's not forget you have full shop of it to look after :-) Thank you for that video. Always a pleasure 🙂
Lol your shop might be haunted. If your camera keeps finding faces in your background ... Hun you should not have to explain how you run your business ... It is yours an you need to do you
Would love to see an updated Rare Plant Index philodendron version 🤩

Planning that one as we speak!
Really hope it's colocasia heavy 🤞🤞@@KayleeEllenOfficial

Would love a video on all the dark plants, easiest to hardest!
Subbing for the business real talk and the honesty in plant parenting. Keep up the honest work!! 😊
There’s a Calathea called ‘Calathea Stella’. It’s a bigger and hardier version of the white fusion. I usually sell out of them quickly
Begonia are pretty easy to propagate since they can always reshoot from old nodes and can also be propagated via node cuttings (like a philodendron) or you can also propagate via leaf cuttings (it can even be halt a leaf). I paused the video to check on and water some of my neglected plants, thank you for the reminder!
Kaylee, begonias can be propagated with stems or leaves. Their success is lower than aroids, but you can get more faster; that's the trade-off. I recommend a humid enclosure, and taking cuttings from mature stems that have arial roots.
Now you sell rescue boxes, you could pop in your unwanted plants as freebies. Nice surprise, postage already paid and nothing wasted!
Cut the leaves off and place them on wet sphagnum moss in a propagation bin. You can also make cuts on the leave and it will root from the veins too
I recognized the dead remains of the White Fusion 😂😂😂 that’s the condition I usually keep them in
😂
For the Aglaonema you can prop them really easily I say give each piece a few nodes they root really fast for me as nodes.
Yes my aurea is always crunching too! It’s making me not enjoy the plant too much… just chopped mine all up in hopes something will change
Begonias are so easy to propagate in water from leaf cuttings. I always add pothos leaves there too to release rooting hormone...
The Uglies videos are so great! I learn AND feel validated at the same time!

I had good success doing leaf propagation of Begonia in spagnum moss in a plastic take away container with a lid and a little air hole and it only took a few days to a week to grow roots
the crunchy ness on the monstera could alsobe humidity because humidity sinks and if its up high itmight not be getting as much humidity as it likes
The first one I saw I knew immediately what it was both by look and by knowing you and i think remembering that exact plant actually, so I am feeling *pretty* good about myself xD
ajjaja same i knew it was a calathea, I had two die on my recently
I’d love to know what you keep at home, your favs, a tour? That’d be so fun, obvs nothing poisonous I’d already gathered… but what?! ❤

Hello from Kentucky! Summer Raine had a video with Steve's Leaves out of Texas on propagating begonias. It a great video for you!
Cut below the healthy node and water prop. Begonias are super easy to prop.
Cane begonia propigation chop dip in root powder then pot into a mix of peat moss and propagation sand keep in high humidity while propping.😊
I got rid of all begonia lol but my maculata angel wing, though it has a thicker stem then the variegated one you have, but it was a DREAM to prop. Water rooted so quickly😊
I was like, the only thing that could crisp up that severely is a calathea… Damn was I right! 🤣🤣
That variegated begonia goes for so much money here in the US, hilarious that yours looks so pitiful 😂. I don’t own one, but from others I’ve seen, the variegation only appears on the leaf tips the way it does on the one leaf I see. Hope he comes back, I think he’s cute.
Omg! Can’t believe I guessed that right on the white fusion. Lol
The merch looks fucking crazy !!!
Please , please keep making merch like this.
I’ve been looking everywhere the last few months , and I just can’t find anything like this.
So hopefully , il get the Shirt & fertiliser before for Christmas 🫣
Just started the video...don't judge but I'm excited for the feed bc I can finally get a good fertilizer for my plants in pon
Absolutely LOVE my shirt. Just received all the way in Massachusetts US! ✨ Stoked about the fertilizer! 🤘🏼
Hey neighbor! I live in New Hampshire 😂
I don't have any experience with the Mint Burle Marx Philodendron, but the yellow variegated one is well known for throwing fully green leaves and then coming back...
I think I saw someone selling a reverted Burle Marx Mint for 10% of the regular price on Marketplace... be right back!
Pretty proud of myself I was able to guess the calathea white fusion 😂😂😂
My longbois shirt came in & I’m so excited!!!
OMG!!! The feed is gonna be on amazon?!!! How awesome for us internationals 🙌💚. I cannot wait!

I always love it when my planty people also the plants that aren’t doing well 😀🇨🇦

Would love to see the Hoyas in your collection. How are they doing??
I got my shirt end of last week and I love it!

That begonia in the US is selling for 300-500 dollars.
Kaylee, what’s the ETA for us in the States to be able to get your plant food? I’m excited to try it.
Am in the middle of another thrips outbreak so this video is like a balm to my infuriated soul. Lmao.
oh, that reminds me, have you actually managed to id your big spathiphyllum? I think it's a variegated sensation, you can get non variegated sensation too and it looks like your plant.
