- Today I am interviewing my Israeli dad about how he felt when I left The Netherlands and moved to Thailand after I fell in love with a Thai man.
I am also sharing where I am from (Netherlands & Israel) and how I moved from Israel to The Netherlands when I was 12 and then later to Thailand.
My Thai husband Mon and my Israeli dad also have a good moment together when they talk about the first time they met and how their relationship changed over time.

Such a supportive and loving father
Hi guys, I loved the interview you had with your dad. He seems to be a very sweet man like your hubby. My sis and I went to Holland for 4 days when we went to Israel. We didn't see too much, bc it rained everyday we were there. Israel we liked, but the only thing we didn't like was that we were on a schedule, which I hated that we had to go by there time on what time to get up, eat n sleep. We still enjoyed ourselves. This is a great & very sweet & touching story ! I remembered when I first moved to live here in Australia 17-18 years ago, my parents thought that I just came here to visit, they didnt know that when I got here, I met my partner, an Aussie guy .. we fell in love and the rest is history. I also travel back & forth to visit my parents in Thailand once a year .. and I just got back from visiting them 2 months ago (1st time in 3 years ! because of Covid) . .. My grown children, I have lost for political reasons and anti-vax reasons....I do get to enjoy my great-grandson and a great grand-daughter on the way...

Maayan this too was so touching, I didn't live in a reality where this sort of love and communication was present. Recently everything has changed (after I choose my path), it really warms my heart to see happy, normal individuals who speak their truth. (For me most of the world is NOT normal 🤪).

It’s really lovely to watch your dad talk about being happy for you, even though your life’s path has taken you so far away from him. And his life’s path took him far away from his family, so perhaps it’s full circle. Moving abroad is a big step and a big trade off, something I did myself and something that I find myself renegotiating even now, 20+ years later. These life changes, though they may be the best choice for us long term, remain bittersweet.
That was great of you to share. Who could not like Mon? Your Father is super cool, and very supportive of your life. You all have great relationships together, and a good sense of humour. When I was 12 it was very tough to move to The Netherlands, I missed my friends and didn't dare to open my mouth. I wasn't happy at all at first. But years later I'm very grateful to my dad that he made that decision for me.
