Hey guys! Rosie and I are two thirds of the way from Wisconsin to The LTVA near Yuma Az. The park we are in has good Wi-Fi so I'm watching a few of my favorite channels. We had problems with our Solitude like springs. shackles, and such but our Brinkley has been good. The Z-3100 is a little lighter than your though. We had it to Alaska, and later to Arizona last year and Washington and now Az. again this year. One thing I carry now is a Dewalt impact wrench. Travel safe! Burlington Bill busking on the road and on you tube.
We had Sumo Springs on our old Riverstone and when we went to get Independent Suspension installed the tech noticed the springs were loose, some were missing and one was stuck up by the frame. I like having IS so much better and it’s worth the investment if you can do it. We are both Army retired and maybe we will run in to you all at a military campground. Good video
@@Ren_O_72 Yes! The loose Sumo springs are on me. I should have been more diligent with my PMCS! I’m thinking about going the IS route too. Hope to see you out on the road!
Yeah, PMCS is a must. Being situated for 2 months at McDill will help you with catching up on all that stuff. Maybe we will catch you all at the Tampa Show RV Show. We will be staying at TTO during that time.
I've had two wet bolts break on my Z3100. I would love it if you would do a step-by-step wet bolt replacement (what do I need, what's the process, etc.) so that I could do it myself rather than taking it to an RV repair shop. Thanks!
Maybe a stupid question - does anyone know - are the wet bolts on our Brinkleys the same as the the Morryde HD shackle kit wet bolt system ? The HD shackle does not have the Morryde emblem. BTW I have used them for many thousands of miles on two fifth wheels with no failures ( but never had a triple axle toy hauler). If so I guess you can order extras from them? Just an observation - the summo springs may be a help for preventing leaf spring cracking BUT it may be pushing the road stresses down the line to the next failure point - maybe the wet bolt? A wet bolt is easier to change out. During travel - I’m not sure with could be more likely or catastrophic - wet bolt coming completely out our main leaf breaking and coming out of spring pack?
@@alfie2744 great question! We have had both of these situations happen. We’ve lost a wetbolt AND we have had a leaf spring break. Both were not overly dramatic. We did a video on the broken leaf spring as well. As for the MORryde wetbolt kit the replacement they sent us is the upgraded HD kit.
@@HenryRust-f2k Great questions! Our Brinkley is a 2024 and the 65th Brinkley G model made. I was in the Marine Corps for 8 years and the Texas Army National Guard for 15 years. I retired as an Infantry First Sergeant in 2017.
@@bkozzer9613 Joe Monastra These are made by MORryde. They are the 3/4 wet bolts. I received mine as a kit from Brinkley when my last one broke but I think you can buy them direct from E trailer. If by spring bolts you mean the U bolt torque spec I did 60 ft lbs.
Did the bolt bend and then break or just break. Basically was there any apparent defection in the broken bolt? The reason I ask is by the markings on the head of the new wet bolt it looks like a grade 5 bolt which is not very hard. I would expect a grade 8 in this application. A grade 5 would most likely deflect and break ( more of a fatigue fracture) where a grade 8 would just pop. ( more of a one time high impact fracture). Just curious. We have a new Z295 so Ill have to keep an eye on those. Enjoying the videos.
@@chasing70degrees23 Brinkley needs to send them back to the manufacturer for analysis. Looks they may be geting microcracks during the drilling process. They would then propagate into full cracks then eventually fail like you are seeing. Definetly a weak spot.
Do you have a checklist you’d be willing to share? We pick up our Brinkley G3950 soon. We’ve full-timed it once before but stayed long term in a couple of places. This time we will be moving around every week or two, and I’m so worried something like this will happen and we miss it because we just don’t know what to look for. I’ve now added “check for broken wet bolts” to the checklist I’m creating.

Just a thought - I Googled the torque spec on the Morryde wet bolts - here is what I got: The torque spec for Morryde wet bolts varies depending on the application, but is typically between 40 and 50 ft-lbs: - Wet Bolt Kit Upgrade: The torque rating for the wet bolt assembly is 50 ft-lbs. - All-Trek 4000: The torque for the nuts that bolt the torque arms between the axle torque brackets and the front cross member is 40 ft-lbs. - X-Factor Crossmember: The torque for the 9/16 - 7/16-20 x 3.4" wet bolts is 40 ft-lbs, while the torque for the 9/16 - 1/2-20 x 3.4" wet bolts is 80 ft-lbs. What is the correct answer? If it is over torqued, that could explain why it fails at the hole? Too much axial stress.
