Love the dealership response when you inquired about the parts. " Haven't seen them yet" Then you said you had tracking numbers and they were received Saturday, " oh, let me go look". Typical. With prior rig I'd drop it off and three weeks later it was still sitting where I parked it. I hate dealers, there is NO reason for it. I will only use my mobile tech. from now on. Brinkley would do well with regional service centers. Thanks for another informative video! Stay Safe.
@@CWS173 Thank you for watching! Yes I agree 100%. Normally Brinkley would authorize a mobile tech but a lot of mobile techs aren’t an insured for suspension work. We ran into that problem when we broke a wetbolt.
I had a horrible experience at a dealer also - they act like 6 months is normal turn time, even for something scheduled that only takes a couple hours. I do not know how they survive with service like that. I will never do it again.
Great video 📹 definitely "trust your instincts" if you think something is wrong.... can't wait for your next video! Great idea with the reflector tape!
I had a bent axle - used that sticker on the axle and had a shop just build me a new one - picking one up was a lot cheaper than shipping one. Dexter axles are very common.
Now at your own leisure, learn to swap out a leaf spring yourself. Its as easy as changing a tire. You can have items shipped right to a campground and knock it out in an hour instead of dealing with a rediculous shop that doesn't really want to help. Owning an RV especially fulltime this is something you should be able and prepared to accomplish.
@@Itsa_Mea Couldn’t agree more. That’s why I put myself through the RV tech school at NRVTA in Texas. If you have watched our Channel then you know we fix everything ourselves. This situation was different because it was under warranty and Brinkley paid for everything. I had the RV positioned on our current spot so I could change it myself but Brinkley offered to pay for it.
Looks like you have a fun feisty little pup. Major bummer on the leaf spring. Do you plan to carry a spare and U-bolts with you? I think I will. On a different topic, my TPMS works now! Thanks so much. I did what you suggested and a put repeater under the circuit breaker panel cabinet - wired it to the camera switch up front. I put another repeater in the front bay also wired to the camera switch. I will probably disconnect the original repeater from Brinkley that is on the underbelly underneath the main steps. Now that I have a working TPMS, do you notice that the center axle runs 3-4 degrees warmer that the front and back axles? I hope you have better luck with your GE air conditioners. I just got the third warranty replacement yesterday (need to install it). They didn't have any more of the tall AC units, so they "upgraded" me to a GE Profile (half the height of the original) for the garage. All 3 original ACs did not last a year. Do you know of other Brinkley owners that have had problems with the GE ACs? Take Care
@@robertb6151 awww thanks yes he’s a great little pup. I’m glad your TPMS is working! You know there have been a lot of those GE units going out. I’m not sure if it matters but I installed soft start units on all three of ours the month we bought our G. We are 16 months in and have had zero issues even with full time use! Hope I didn’t jinx myself 😳
@@chasing70degrees23 It seems to be loss of refrigerant - although we cannot find the leak point. The fan and compressor ran fine on all three failed units.
I live 20 miles west in decatur, been here 50 years. Sorry to hear bankston was not great. Back the the day, they were the premier rv go to place but i think they now try to do too many things. First place we went shopping for our tt back in 2013 but ended up buying closer to home, Dont know where you came from, but if you drove thru chattanooga on the way, THATS where the spring broke. Roughest stretch of interstates ive seen. We lose parts off our tt every time we go thru. I now refuse and take a 40 mile detour around it.
Looks like you have the 7k axles? We went with the 8k and disk brake. I70 east Colorado and I40 east NM are terrible. Havent had our G4000 on either yet. Planning on a Georgia trip Dec1.
@@lestero5576 Yes! Both of those highways are horrible, we have made that trip both directions. Interesting fact. The only difference in the 7k and 8k axles is the actual axle. They both use the same leaf springs (4k leaf packs) on each side, hangers, wet bolts, equalizers and sumo springs. So be careful when you come through Georgia!!
Check your u-bolts after you go 100 miles,, My trailer tracks to the Right , all springs look good, about 12,000 miles on trailer, tires look good,, not sure with the crown of the road moves the trailer to the right..
@@rickpatterson4495 I’m going to recheck the U-bolts before we leave and at our next destination. We were in North Dakota a few months ago and the road was so crowned that the crosswind felt like it was going to knock us over. I had to drive in the fast lane so the RV leaned into the wind
@@poolchuck66 I couldn’t agree more. There are some RV dealers that go above and beyond. When we broke a wetbolt Good Life RV in Iowa was amazing. They took great care of us and really stepped up. Most other dealers treat you like you are a burden.
Wild RV Life channel just had a Brinkley shackle/ leaf spring break also 🤔
