You should be running resistant augmented shield boosters with force block experimental. Thermal resistant grade for Shield generator (with fast charge experimental) and replace your Hull reinforcements with *Guardian shield reinforcements* (very important) to most optimize your build. With your shields recharging fast and with high resistances pirates should not be able to break you (in a low res zone), high shield health is only useful for ramming. Shield resistances is where it's at. I wish I could post my build, but I cannot due to YT
Btw, good on you for giving this a go. The best methods for credits per hour are exobiology or Expansion missions. While for credits per _active_ hour, it's AFK massacre mission stacking all the way.
Yeah this is the best way to make money when you don’t have time to play Elite. If you’re playing I agree the expansion missions make way more money faster.
Great video! I Already made 6 billions and here's my report: 1 - A 100% AFK didn't work for me. to many problems: Server disconnection; ship wreckage lag, empty cargo, pirate vengeance response. To do anithing else while the game runs in the background worked just fine. 1- I headed to GAULA WU (Empire) and find Massacre missions of Morana Pirates in 5 staions/settlements. 2 - Pleadged for Arissa Duval and got level 2 rank for 40%/50% increased bounty (This not mandatory since the main revenue will come from mission reward. But since is a one-week passive bonus, it's a welcome help) 3 - Chose for my fighter crew a Harmless pilot. They are a cheaper, evolve fast and reach only 10% profit share at Elite 🤑 You just need to help them kill until they reach Novice. 4 - At the site, I parked the Type-10 with its back to a large asteroid. This helps block attacks from the rear and forces pirates into your line of Sight. 5 - Patience and consistency. o7
I do like #4 - that is smart thinking. Patience is required as it's very boring to watch which is a shame considering it's spaceship laser battles. Also turn off Report crimes against me as you don't want police stealing your kills, scaring the pirates away and pulling them away from your maximum range. I'm surprised the original credit wasn't given as this AFK type 10 stuff was released over a year ago and isn't new. Parking up against an asteroid is a new one though that's smart. Edit: It was actually posted two years ago and can be found here th-cam.com/video/O6aAo99Eo6E/w-d-xo.html It will require a lot of engineering so prepare for the grind with beverage and a long play list of music, audio books and or podcasts. Apart from that number is awesome, did I mention that already?
#4 is very big brain lol sometimes, yes, you will get kicked out but I do recommend minimizing the graphics to reduce the load on your PC’s RAM and electric bill (lol) Can’t think of a solution of the occasional AFK pause though…
@@sidrat2009 i agree. asteroids are indestructible shields like trees in a racing game. oh and yes the Type-10 AFK method is pretty common throughout the game so i had to make the tutorial at some point :) I personally like administering my ship while I work on my homework or practice my saxophone and check up on AFKing sometimes
I've made 100 billion credits, have played other games and watched movies etc whilst running. Massacre MIssions are superior to bounties. Fighter does 55% of your firepower, once master rank, go fixed beam (Gu-97 is fast and nimble). I can't post builds here, but my T10's (i have 2 instances at the same time for x2 profit) normally survive if the fighter goes down. Parking your butt on an asteroid is silly.
You can do this without engineering if you're prepared for the rebuy screen occasionally however the rebuy cost are nothing compared the mission rewards.
This was really easy money when we were able to stack missions, so when you kill a pirate from one faction it counts on every massacre mission of this faction. Now it counts only in one of them until you complete this mission. CMDR Hawkes have done some videos about AFK grinding about 2 years ago...
wish I could’ve been grinding during that time where kills were distributed on ALL missions rather than just one for each faction… oh how fast i wouldve gotten a fleet carrier :)
You can still stack missions such that one kill counts for multiple missions simultaneously, you just need each mission against that same target faction to be from a different source faction from the mission board(s). Some systems have a better arrangement for this than others.
about 8 hours of AFK, already got at least 80 million, bounty and mission prize included. Just engineer the pulse laser with long range, use bi-weave shield (engineered) and reinforced hull is enough to tank it. Divert max points on WEP and 3 points to SYS on your power distribution.
I just did this for the first time last night, I left my ship to its own devices for around 5 hours. I only had 7 massacre missions, and woke up with 16 mil in bounty vouchers, all 7 missions complete, however my screen UI had been bugged all to hell, showing a completely dark ship interior as if I had been destroyed or had no power, I could still move and use the ship as normal, and use all my buttons as normal. Once I rebooted the entire game it worked fine, it looks like it may have bugged out from all the floating cargo. I went with long range turrets instead, and went with the resistance shield boosters as crown suggested and I don't think my shields ever dropped below 80% at any given time, and I did 4 pips to systems and 2 to weapons and never had any power draw issues. My SLF also survived the entire night, but she is also Elite. Makes me wonder if its at all worth it to bring 1 collector limpet controller and use a macro to use it every X seconds and cash in on all the engineering materials and such.
@@sidrat2009yes it is, the cycle resets so if you have prep or expansion materials you won't get credit for them. It states in game you need to deliver them before the powerplay cycle changes
i have my own technique to. take the best ship you have. *Important* have a fighter with you ! then switch ship to your fighter. then let the AI do the dirty work for you (:
@DonaldMcLemore-n6d the ai is pretty good if you're not engineered and able to delete their health in a matter of seconds. Before I got my full corrosive/thermal shock combo multis with pulse/burst lasers I would not want to pick a fight with an AI vette without someone else and my fighter in an anaconda. They're pretty good if you're more to their level, especially when they're a higher rank. Ai crew Master and above will do much better with pips than a harmless or competent pilot. I'd be worried about cargo though
@@_The_Specter_ i did what i could, its weird cuz i was ok for hours... thats why i was confident and went to sleep, with my lil ship defending.... L lol
What's the better/best type of laser weapon to use? I'd think a turreted burst layout would be the best of both worlds, beam energy and some kinetic energy on a target, but what do I know, I just explore the galaxy, I rarely blow stuff up.. but I need some cash fairly fast, so..
Make sure you turn off the function which calls the cops when you get fired upon. Otherwise you'll not get any kills. It's also worth noting that VERY occasionally, system security will fly directly between you and whichever pirate you're fragging. You get clipped pretty quickly when that happens. I've not found a way around this so far.
Do you have any source from that ? I would like to be sure before trying. Also, it's a pain anyway because delivery missions don't last forever and you'll end up with a fine for "stealing" the goods if you don't bring them on time
SLFs are little fighters you can launch to help fight with you. 2-0-4 means that you need to set your pips (or the power management icons in the lower-right corner) to 2 dots for systems, 0 for engines, and 4 for weapons. This way all energy is directed towards the shields and the weapons, while there is not a lot of energy going towards the engine as the ship is supposed to be still idk what u mean on the last one, but no, you must independently turn off crimes and set the turrets. also u can change them in the right panel when you go to the “ship” options. hope that helped!
Lol. Man sees _one_ AFK method (which is basically the only one there is) and declares every single other way to play the game obsolete? Says more about you than the game, tbh. Type-10 AFK mission stack has been a thing for years. Meanwhile, all the ways to play and enjoy the game when you're sitting there to do so _all still exist_ - the only difference is that you have some more money to enjoy your active time with, if you want to. ED is nowhere near a mobile game, you dramaqueen.
Lol nice, but this is not for starting players that prefer to play solo, i can't even afford the ships you mention in the start of your video, i have a keelback and 6 million credits.. and i like trading, any tips on how to gain more credit to even afford the ships you mentioned like a type 10? :D AFTER that i might be able to follow the tips in your video :D
gold, sliver and palladium seem to have the best profit margin and are the easiest to find a good spot to sell them. third party tools fooled me many times with their outdated info about vest trading routes. try buying silver cheap and selling it for about 14k more per unit in the nearby stations. games UI will tell you where this station might be. I am earning around 60 mil per hour this way. it's boring as hell but you will have money for type 10 in about 2h or something like that
Buy a T-9, do a few gold silver and tritium trades, and you'll have hundreds of millions in no time. Don't forget to keep an extra margin on top of the ship's price, for outfitting and rebuys
Hey, thanks for making this video. When I make the money I will definately try this out. In your video you say to get turreted lasers, but your coriolis link shows gimballed lasers. Is this a mistake or did you misspeak in the video?

@erikmarotke4664 I just started, My T-10 uses alot of shield stuff, prism, boosters, and guardian shield modules, so far with light engineering(and a transplanted powerplant from my combat corvette) I can fully AFK in a system gathering both bounty and mission rewards, setting my ship to fire at will, and the fighter too seems to reduce the issues of shooting defense
Not necessarily, it’s just that if you want some of the higher tier stuff you can either grind manually for hours or let this afk while you do other stuff. Personally I want the money so I can possibly buy a fleet carrier one day and use it to explore deep space.

Pretty sure this got patched, at least on console you don’t get the bounty/kill record unless you do a basic scan anymore, went to a high res site got attacked a bit left my game running and after 3 hours I didn’t get any progress or bounties
Its been a long running thing at this point so I doubt it. Since I enjoy bounty hunting though this has been my home system for over a year. I'll normally stack 100-120 kills between each faction and return with several hundred million credits. 100 kills counting as 500 kills is sweet and also builds fed rank. I heard that if you take cargo delivery missions, you don't need point defense since npc pirates are unable to steal that kind of cargo. Is there any truth to this? Or is this misinformation?
I might have made a kind of dumb mistake. Now I have to grind to build my wallet back up. I bought a crate 2 and then a python to and then I decided I was going to buy a type 10 and set them all up😂 I'm broke now. At least my type 10 will now recoup me some money🤣
I'm still flying my asp explorer around more than anything else. It's so over-engineered that I really don't have a ship that can jump as far yet😅 it's got over 60 light years of jump normally and if I supercharged the frame shift drive I can pull up to 80 light years. I think the highest I've ever hit was 92 light years. Not to mention its fuel capabilities and cargo capabilities make it my best exploration and jump between solar systems ship. I was extremely disappointed in the jump range of the type 10 and every ship I have bought I have been extremely disappointed in so far because I'm spoiled from this damn explorer
@@SteveSiegelin did you just compare one of the best ships for exploration to an afk combat ship? lol i mean sure my asp gets ~70ly and my conda is around 75/81 ish depending on max jump/useful explorer build but it dosent mean they can take down any other ship at all... what a strange comparison like "sure leme get to the thargoids/system conflict faster than you but instantly die" :HMM:
@@Unown_B it was also the first ship I went to war with the thargoid in and was successful in combat. I engineered my asp a little different than everybody else. It's a well-rounded war machine that I've already over-engineered for the wrong reasons 😅 it's mainly designed with guardian drive and a lot of anti xeno weaponry. followed your guide don't think it works any more since update 15. Is this true or am I doing something wrong maybe, the ship killed many pirates but not from the missions.
I gotta disagree with the claim that no engineering is required. This is a $26m rebuy ship, and without full engineering, you will end up paying this often.
I done this years ago, but never made a billion. The mission stacking still tedious process, and you really just exchange the fun combat gameplay with boring mission stacking. Also disconnects and crashes happen way more often then should, so you often come back to this. It definetly works. However nowdays when money making is not bad and there are fun ways to do it, maybe just better to actually play the game or leave it.
Large ships cost a fuck ton, prismatic shields too, and a lot of players want to own a fleet carrier. You can also buy commodities and give them away to people in need if you're feeling generous
Granted this kind of works, but where is the fun in it😉 In a Wing you easily make 1 billion per hour each and have fun doing it. That's a fleet carrier an afternoon. Who needs that money for something? I think I have 20 billion credt, a fleet carrier and similar assets on the side of fun play. Recent Thargoid station CZs are around 500 mil./hour cleaning them out. This AFK stuff might be the fast lane to destruction of your motivation and joy playing ED.
I personally see it differently. I only need money to pay the running costs from the carrier. It bothers me a lot that costs are incurred even though I don't play the game at all. There is something like that only in Elite Dangerous and in no other game. Therefore, it is good if you can earn money this way so that you can get rid of this problem.
@dirkniedfeld7411 well, money typically isn't an issue. If you can make 1 billion in an hour having fun, that covers the Carrier for a year. If you have 20 billion cash, you can be pretty sure ED will be decommissioned before your money runs out. My Carrier is covered for 10 years and I keep 10 billion cash. Although, if you don't play anymore, why bother about the Carrier? If it runs out of balance it gets decommissioned and you get the purchase price back. I personally don't believe there will be something to log in to in 10 years 😄
@@BlueSideUp Yes, that true. My carrier has money to the year 2028. But i do not like this concept. If there are not running costs, if i not play, everything would be fine for me and i do not need do money in this way. I think they will put offline the servers in the next 20 years.
If you're ranked elite in any category, jameson memorial has every ship and part. always 10 percent off. Otherwise just search on Inara for the part and go down the list til you find what you need. to bad i dont have the time- patience to engineer. this game could be so much better if not for enginerring bs. and so few ships. cant believe how few new ships they had in 8+years.
G1-3 Engineering is all anybody should bother with of they want to enjoy some beef. G4-5 are merely for sweat and completely unnecessary. Everybody shows a G5 build on their build tools because they want to show the highest number, but it's nowhere near necessary. An easily earned G1-3+Experimental piece of equipment already notably outperforms its stock counterpart for a reasonable cost of basic materials, and the game already introduces the basic Engineers (Farseer, Dweller, Tod) to easily encourage this with minimal sweatmode. They're the compromise to encourage you to check it out without too much hassle. Worth it. Edit: *Jameson Crash* (G4 & 5 Signals), *Koli Discii* Anaconda Crash (Raw mats including very rare Tellurium), and *Dav's Hope* (Manufacturing mats) are **literally** all anyone needs for materials in tandem with the various Material Traders to convert them up/down. Get your little babyjumper+SRV hanger and go on a short-range adventure to these (Google the location details for specifics). Then visit Farseer to make your lil jumpyboi even jumpier, then G1-3 your other ships to taste.

Ive optimized my build to @crownofglory1264's comment but theres hardly any pirates attracted to me anymore, carrying 16t of gold... should I head to a medium res or...? ._.
Not really optimized build. Note for the future: have shield resists balanced (explosive, kinetic, thermal) - so shields will last longer. Also, "Reinforced" engineering on bi-weave is kinda... Pointless. They were made to be fast on recharge. By making bi-weave more fat you're killing their entire purpose. Engineer them for thermal resistant, fast charge experimental. And you don't need so much cargo space for pirates to be interested in you - as far as I know, even 2 tons is enough. I would put fuel tank in that 7 class slot so you can leave the ship making money for you for a very long time. And the rest of the optional slots are filled with guardian shield reinforcements. At least you picked the correct lasers - pulse lasers. But why in the build link they are on gimbals? That's not right. Fix that. 3 - Chose for my fighter crew a Harmless pilot.
Edit: It was actually posted two years ago and can be found here th-cam.com/video/O6aAo99Eo6E/w-d-xo.html
It will require a lot of engineering so prepare for the grind with beverage and a long play list of music, audio books and or podcasts. Apart from that number is awesome, did I mention that already?
#4 is very big brain lol
sometimes, yes, you will get kicked out but I do recommend minimizing the graphics to reduce the load on your PC’s RAM and electric bill (lol) Can’t think of a solution of the occasional AFK pause though…
@@sidrat2009 i agree. asteroids are indestructible shields like trees in a racing game. oh and yes the Type-10 AFK method is pretty common throughout the game so i had to make the tutorial at some point :)
I personally like administering my ship while I work on my homework or practice my saxophone and check up on AFKing sometimes
@@crownofglory1264 thanks for the extra tips! you must be a veteran lol
It's not that easy as you say. Easiest is a Robigo run.
@@trashcan7340 Yes, however you can't AFK Robigo.
@@douglasmorris8364 could you afk in stack missions? Because here discussed stack missons in particular. Didn't you noticed?
You can still stack missions such that one kill counts for multiple missions simultaneously, you just need each mission against that same target faction to be from a different source faction from the mission board(s). Some systems have a better arrangement for this than others.
about 8 hours of AFK, already got at least 80 million, bounty and mission prize included. Just engineer the pulse laser with long range, use bi-weave shield (engineered) and reinforced hull is enough to tank it. Divert max points on WEP and 3 points to SYS on your power distribution.
you still doing this? i mean 10m/hr is terrible it would take forever to get "billions"
@Unown_B not anymore. It is pretty inefective and just generates heat for my laptop overnight.
Lol, I can make more than double that in an hour 😂 this sounds very inefficient
@cmdrravenwulff5272 any ideas how? And the build also. Thank you in advance!
I love how I always end up against Anacondas jumping me in LOWRES, and my turrets focusing police forces as soon as they pop
You got your build setup?
Limpets get destroyed non stop, You'll get them all lost in no time. But they're cheap, so that'll give you a bunch of free low grade materials

*Important* have a fighter with you !
then switch ship to your fighter. then let the AI do the dirty work for you (:
Nah, AI doesn't manage pips properly
@DonaldMcLemore-n6d the ai is pretty good if you're not engineered and able to delete their health in a matter of seconds. Before I got my full corrosive/thermal shock combo multis with pulse/burst lasers I would not want to pick a fight with an AI vette without someone else and my fighter in an anaconda. They're pretty good if you're more to their level, especially when they're a higher rank. Ai crew Master and above will do much better with pips than a harmless or competent pilot. Make sure you turn off the function which calls the cops when you get fired upon. Otherwise you'll not get any kills. You read right, no need for point defence's, just replace with more shield boosters.

05.05 How i can turrets to fire up will turn crimes off?
SLFs are little fighters you can launch to help fight with you.
2-0-4 means that you need to set your pips (or the power management icons in the lower-right corner) to 2 dots for systems, 0 for engines, and 4 for weapons. This way all energy is directed towards the shields and the weapons, while there is not a lot of energy going towards the engine as the ship is supposed to be still
idk what u mean on the last one, but no, you must independently turn off crimes and set the turrets. also u can change them in the right panel when you go to the “ship” options.

this describes elite so much. GRIND GRIND GRIND its literally an AFK mobile game at this point
It's a sandbox but with obstacles to actualy test things and have fun and with a mix of truly sadistic time wasters here and there.
Or… you don’t have to do it and make money your own way
You sound stupidly lazy
sad
ED is nowhere near a mobile game, you dramaqueen.
why is the cargo class 7 if you only would need like 8 gold in your hold to attract almost any pirate?
I am earning around 60 mil per hour this way. it's boring as hell but you will have money for type 10 in about 2h or something like that
Go run Robigo passenger missions. It's boring but easy and profitable
Buy a T-9, do a few gold silver and tritium trades, and you'll have hundreds of millions in no time.
Don't forget to keep an extra margin on top of the ship's price, for outfitting and rebuys

Its been a long running thing at this point so I doubt it. Since I enjoy bounty hunting though this has been my home system for over a year. I think the highest I've ever hit was 92 light years. Not to mention its fuel capabilities and cargo capabilities make it my best exploration and jump between solar systems ship. I gotta disagree with the claim that no engineering is required. This is a $26m rebuy ship, and without full engineering, you will end up paying this often.
yeah good point, idk why i said no engineering
I done this years ago, but never made a billion. The mission stacking still tedious process, and you really just exchange the fun combat gameplay with boring mission stacking.
Also disconnects and crashes happen way more often then should, so you often come back to this.
It definetly works. However nowdays when money making is not bad and there are fun ways to do it, maybe just better to actually play the game or leave it.
now we just need something to spend the billions on...
Large ships cost a fuck ton, prismatic shields too, and a lot of players want to own a fleet carrier.
You can also buy commodities and give them away to people in need if you're feeling generous
Granted this kind of works, but where is the fun in it😉
In a Wing you easily make 1 billion per hour each and have fun doing it.

And yes, if elite dangerous is still online in the year 2030 is a good question. I think they will put offline the servers in the next 20 years.

You don't need engineering tbh, or at least not max levels
Fix that. Don't confuse the heck out of people.
