I recommended Ted Lasso to a friend of mine who has zero interest in football but was going through a rough patch with his metal heath. He always tells me how much the show helped him through that period of his life and how much of himself he saw in Ted (similar jobs, very different industry). So nice to hear Jason get compliments from some of the big names in the league too. Fingers crossed for season 4!
People make the mistake of thinking Ted Lasso is a sitcom that is all about the jokes. It is really a dromody (drama/comedy) that has great characters, humorous and dramatic moments, with deeper messages baked into it. The genius of the show is if you like football, you will get more of the jokes and if you don’t it still has a enough humour and drama to keep you hooked. All season 3 started of unfocused and the weakest season so far the last two episodes have been two best ever episodes.
My wife has watched countless UCL finals with me. The WC final with me. But she’s never cheered a goal as loud as the lone goal that Richmond scored against Arsenal in this last episode 😂. The show is hitting home all over the world. Hope we have at least a few more seasons!
Congrats ! It's great that your wife is getting into it. Normally though in finals , many teams are conservative because they have an emphasis on playing not to lose. The best football is normally in the round of 16, 1/4 and semifinals. Cheers
I was the exact same as Gary. Huge football fan here in the States and all my friends were telling me I had to watch it. I told them I watch football every weekend and didn't need to. Glad I did. Just a fantastic series all the way around.
I did watch season 1 when i was in much distress but this series made me feel how many losses comes to life doesnt matter,,,, keep on going on your way to success.... season 3 felt good but sad that we cant watch TED....
I was honestly sceptical of this show when it first started...but few weeks ago i gave it a shot....just after two episodes from the 1st season and im hooked😂...a good blend of humour and emotional scenes...loved it...hope this show goes far...
@@scottirvine121 yeah i know i just finished...was hoping it would continue further...guess Ted miss home and his son...would be awesome if they show the club playing in the CL....and also the teaser at the end of last episode showing the women's division....or maybe winning a cup(FA/carabao) the following season....like theres lots of potential of it to go far.....but Ted is the main character and he wants to go home..and seems like thats the end of it😔
@@Nerdyfootballfan26 I hope so because it will be another season wasted if we get Poch, we need a tough manager like Mourinho now who will instil some winning mentality in these players more than anything
If I could compare coaching styles for Ted it’d be Carlo Ancelotti. They both believe in the abilities of their players and are truly free coaches. They’re both kind and assertive people. If you could compare to one European coach. Premier league wise, Klopp.
Zava vs Zlatan would b the best show ever! Thank u Jason for a truly one-of-a-kind sitcom that is so much more. While canvassing in AZ for the Dems, I watched the whole show in one week! 👏👏👏

I initially thought it'd be another Hollywood football series/film written by an American that doesn't watch the game enough to know about it, but I'll give it a watch with the best chance I get. How many seasons/episodes is it on? and has the show ended? if not what's the release date for the next episodes?
Pep was right. people will forget the wins and loses but they will remember how you played. Jason after coming back saw how Pep's team played and now he's a Man City fan
Yeah he really overplays the accent on purpose. He's supposed to be from Kansas (where the actor is also actually from), but it still doesn't make sense since no one from Kansas sounds like that. He is just overplaying it for the sort of folky American caricature Lasso is. In reality very, very, few Americans actually sound like that. Southern and western accents are just often romanticized in film and media for whatever reason and thus have a disproportionately large presence.
I love how the show felt like this warm embrace between two contrasting (sport) cultures. It really was an homage to all these great American sentimental sports movies, with a healthy dose of self deprecating sascastic British humor. Lasso is almost a charicature, the overly positive folksy American coach, but the show never ridicules him and his outlook and humanizes him in a very effective way. We're generally too cynical in Europe to buy into these kind of sentiments, that's why sport movies are barely a thing here, but there is a reason the US is such a succesful sport country and I love how the show tries to celebrate this. It's not just 'look at these silly Americans give soccer a go'. Football is profoundly emotional and sentimental, as are all sports. Americans understand this beter than we do! PS: And as a Dutch person, the Amsterdam episode was such a treat!
other half who hates football because she was essentially a football widow to an exz she absolutely loves ted lasso. a d shes started to csre about individual players, her main one is Rashford

My wife said “it has too much sport in it”, but she still likes it. I was sure it wasn’t going to be as good as people were saying as I’d mainly heard American sat it was good, which is never a great sigh, but it’s actually better than I expected. Other than Ricky Gervais, I think it’s some of the best TV writing I’ve seen. I’m just starting season 3. I hope like Ricky they stop rather than milking it forever.

Great interview between a well-versed coach/sports personality with bags of passion and experience in and for the game.
And Gary Neville
Gary is so much better being an interviewer than a pundit. He seems to understand life better than he does football imo.
