    I believe this amazing dish can incorporate more variations. I experimented with mushrooms and celery for extra crunchiness and it was even better.

    Shakshouka is historically Tunisian in origin... It's eaten in several parts of the Middle East and is not Israeli though they do make it.

    Great video! I like the blending technique! This way alot of nutrition is preserved in the tomato which is otherwise cooked out because of the long cooking time! Plus it's much thicker!

    You NEED to make this. I just made it for my East Indian husband and he and I couldn't stop saying how delicious it is!! I'm not even finished eating. I had to give respect to the chef! Just wow! Only thing I did differently was put mushrooms instead of peppers because I didn't have any. Just, WOW

      @@ntsd7509 Nope, that's not the way foreigners use it. When they mean east Indian, they refer to Indians. Europeans used to call natives of north America and South America as Indians, as they initially landed there by mistake in search of India. That's also the reason how Caribbean islands got the name "west indies".

    I feel blending the tomatoes spoilt it. Peeling and adding them sliced works so well and makes the dish crunchy.

    Shakshuka with eggs is originally a Tunisian dish that was brought to the middle east by Tunisian jews who moved to Israel along with Morrocan and Algerian jews. That is how the dish became popular in the arab world and the middle east . It is a delicious food that we always eat here in Tunisia.

    I read an article many years ago on the deposed Shah of Iran. There were pictures of a cultural celebration in that article. This dish was shown served in a lovely silver serving dish in those pictures. It looked wonderful but never knew what it was until now.

    Hi varun, i just love to see your recipes and I try to make them.
    Can I use pizza sauce which I have recently made at home. The ingredients and the preparation is almost similar. Only i have to add cumin powder, isn't it?

    Thanks Chef. I like seeing you deseeding the capsicum. BTW I noticed you used Indian onions. Actually is there any significant differences between Indian and white/yellow onions? I personally prefer Indian onions, but some recipes use white onions.

    What I really liked about your recipe is breaking the eggs in a separate bowl to ensure they are not bad n then adding to the main dish.
