I really admire people who have the creativity and energy to design and produce a better widget. Puts my decades old and filthy cone shaped wood burner to shame. Thanks, for sharing this, Dave. Honey looked to appreciate it as well.
If you like that you’ll love the titanium Winnerwell backpacking stove, you can also buy a table that acts as a stand for it to keep it off the ground. It’s bigger than the Serotonin and when you’re not cooking it’s a mini fireplace, I cut down a small sheet of titanium to seal the top of mine so all the heat comes out of the fireplace portion.
As you say, nice for those mindful moments to relax and chill with the stove. Feet up moment. I got a Trangia, meths burner and pots, for the same reason, nice and quiet, light with a mag stick, turned out to be pretty efficient too 🙂 I like the shape too, and if you chose some straighter twigs 🙂topping up would be a breeze. The table looks very useful, better than a dish just laid on the ground. Oh, and happy new year when it comes.
👍👍👍 .. an interesting variation on a theme. I like the little table and the folding legs idea under the stove to protect the surface below. When necessary, I put my Wood Burners into a Mess Tin / Similar, with some water therein to protect the underlying surface. I have the Bushbox LF in Stainless Steel and to date, it has given me good service. Old Years Eve, it's going to toast Marshmallows over Charcoal Briquettes on my flat balcony while I watch the Fireworks Display across the Rhine in Germany, drinking 'Glühwein and with the Malti-Poo under a blanket next to me 😊. New kit 🤔 .. 74 years under the bridge has taught me that the 'search for the ideal kit' is similar to that for the Holy Grail .. just out of reach .. always 😁. I'm at the stage now that what I now have 'will do'. Any perceived or actual 'shortcomings', as a 'Boomer' (YOB 1950) we know how to adapt 😏. Thanks for the share .. and an all of the best of the New Year to you too.
@thomasmusso1147 You are totally right on the 'new kit' Comment Thomas. Alas, I am accelerating on that journey, but I hope to bring something to first time buyers, who will use it for a long time. Enjoy your Gluwein, which you must be drinking out of a Grail, as you have found it!
I love wood-gas-stoves and being able to pack it down flat is a great advantage IMHO, thanks for showing. If you want it larger and feed it longer sticks, why don't you get you a small hot-tent-stove though? For a solo-hiker it's already a bit too large and heavy and for two-person-cooking still not large enough - something inbetween. The table is perfect for getting your food off the ground, much like I've seen at 'Temu'. Have a happy and healthy New Year. BTW: Please ask your vet about feeding your dog bacon ! I live in Germany and here the bacon is heavily salted and smoked, pure poison for a dog.
Great suggestion. I have two tent stoves that will fit the bill and have been fiddling tonight. Also, thank you for your concern about the bacon. I understand. I will look into that more, but I am not concerned she probably gets one rasher every 6 weeks.
Looks like a compact stove with similar traits to the Winnerwell. I would still opt for the winnerwell stove, though, even at the elevated price, just for ease of assembly and performance alone. Great review thanks.
It does :) I do enjoy watching your tent compare and review/walk trough videos. Got the sydvang one based on those and it has turned out exactly as expected.
Where's my Bacon Sarnie Dave🤦🏻♂️. Look s a good good piece of kit. Honey is waiting for her bacon sandwich🐕, bless her little heart. The watch brand i was thinking of yesterday is Oris. They have some nice pieces. Good prices. Somewhere always does them with about £500 off.
that is a prosperous looking white terrier, i confess i want to give it some cooked bacon. thank you for showing us the firefly and all the useful kit. Like 👍
Top tip: chop up the bacon into bite size bits and put them in the pot atop either stove: less to clean up, better control, no added oil or fat required to cook it, less chance of burning it too. Happy Christmas 👍🏻
Hello Dave. I have just discovered your channel. That is a superb bit kit. For £50 (give or take a few ££ for exchange and shipping) it is a bargain. Unfortunately, I think the copy cats at Temu have managed to churn out a similar design. Had I known that this product was available, I'd have saved my money and ordered one of these instead of the Temu copy. Sorry, I'm going into a Temu rant again. Good video. Much appreciated 👍🏻 👍🏻 😊
Can’t decide between the MSR dragonfly MSR whisperlite or Jetboil minimo. It’ll mainly be used for motorbike camping. Got a Vern2. What’s your thoughts Dave?
Hi Jonny. Good question. Firstly, it depends on which countries, season, what food you are preparing and fuel availability. Minimo is just a one trick pony, water, or burn. The dragonfly can not use gas, so it's not easy. If it was between these 3, I would go whisperlite international. Have you not considered the soto stormbreaker, no petrol though.or for gas only, my favourite, the soto Fusion Trek? How about the optimus multifuel.... let me know what you go for!
@davidlaw233 Is that your stove of choice David? I find after you have blown it out, you can put the lid on and it stays sealed. Plus, it's very difficult, nay impossible to get the amount of alcohol exactly right. That's the way I prefer to do it, works for me just fine. Tell me about yourself and type of camps! Cheers
You know. It is a bit small. But , some may want this size. I also apologise for my triggered response earlier. Sometimes the trolls and nay sayers get under your skin. Happy biking and flying for next year.
@ Nice one mate………..90% banter……..the main thing I enjoy when I’m out is the ability to make a brew on wood fire and eat a cold pie or soggy sandwich …….i usually take the solostove but it’s a bit bulky
I appreciate people who are good at tinkering and engineer clever gear. I’m going to look into this and see if it’s available in the states here.
@BackcountryExposure I hope the tariffs don't hit them too hard Devin! Happy New Year. May your tent pegs never pop, and your mat never deflate.
Cheers for the 15% off Dave, just ordered thr titanium kit, be great for my beach walks for brewing up. 😊

@curtchaffee Ahh, but the memories in your filthy old one, Curt....
Great year Fellmandave! Lot's of good videos!
Thanks, old chap.

Great intro to innovative kit. Thank you and happy new year to you, yours and all reading this.
Thanks, you too!

@BushcraftWithSteOutdoors cheers Buddy I am looking at the Winnerwell with big googly TITANIUM eyes.
@Fellmandave1 😄 it's a beautiful thing.
That looks nice and compact, strong too. You might have found yourself your next Soulu killer ;) Happy new years
@slowboilingleafs Hahaha. The joke that keeps giving. Happy new year to you, too!
It does :)

@CityBoy5705 OK mate. Yes Oris, nice.
Thanks for the video 🍽️👏🇨🇵
Great Video and I can see a use for it. Would not like to put that together with cold wet hands though 😮
@shaneb6853 It was a little fiddly Shane. Not too bad with a little practice however.

@mrwest5552 you're welcome Mr West. She's a great dog. Romanian stray, so a total mix. Thanks for commenting and the like. It's appreciated👏.!
@@Fellmandave1 - ah she is the best, no leash needed, knows her place. It is great to know you're together.
Nice one Dave, will it manage a turkey crown 😂😂 Happy new year to you & your family when it arrives.
Definitely enough for one if you do it in batches, tapas style.
Top tip: chop up the bacon into bite size bits and put them in the pot atop either stove: less to clean up, better control, no added oil or fat required to cook it, less chance of burning it too. Happy Christmas 👍🏻
Very good tip, but I did want to demo the griddle top. Happy new year!
It does look like a nice small stove but I think that it would be a big improvement if it was bigger.
I agree Graeme. Hopefully, they will bring out a titanium one, double the size.

Welcome aboard! Thanks for taking the time to comment. There is quite a mix on my channel, but I hope you find stuff you enjoy.
alpkit do a similar rectangular one as well but i think the serotonin has extra accessories 🔥
Cheers buddy. The feed hole at the end is missing too.
@Fellmandave1 the feed hole is definitely a bonus.
Looks very similar to the alpkit wood stove.
@carnegie79 yes definitely. Some additional features, though, I think, like the end feed hole.

How much does the titanium version weigh?
About 230g it's on their site.
Mines gone missing somewhere 😂
@NoviceWildCamper not me mate!
Genius design, with lots of flexibility. Thanks for sharing the info! What is the weight of it?
Thanks, Chris. Depends on whether SS or titanium. See links.
Dave that looks like a nice stove, how long did the Turkey take on the day😂
I cut it into mini strips.so same time as normal!
Cheers Dave. The stove isn't for me. Have great new year
Same to you Marty!
Well common sense would tell you only put enough alcohol to boil the water

Yes, great for single backpackers, who are looking to save as much weight as possible.
In no way can that travesty be described as a bacon sandwich
Raw bacon and 2 week old stale bread
Get a grip lad
@tonyeden8381 Everything tastes better outside, especially woodsmoked don't ya know! I mean , actually smoked bacon!
@@Fellmandave1
Hahahaha……..you’re 100% correct there but come on man smoked or not it looked like it could still squeal
🐷 👍
To be honest Tony, I'm not particularly fussy, let's say when it comes to food, I have a wide range.

Any suggestions?
Agree its too small
Just right for me, only want a small stove for brewing up when on beach walks that can burn some driftwood.
