    Great video. I've recently bought a Rapid 1.0 TSi and would like to do the oil service myself. This has been a great help. Thanks.

      Yes that's correct 2021 model in the video , so there will be a few differences.

    Thanks so much, very helpful. Can you just replace the washer on the sump plug - spares sites largely selling just the washer for this model? And you recommend 0w-20 for the 2021 model?

    • @DropTheBoxOfficial
      @DropTheBoxOfficial  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can certainly just replace the washer, however you will find that you will probably have to cut the washer off once it is crushed onto the plug.
      0W-20 is the recommended grade from the manufacturer, I believe this lower viscosity was introduced to help improve the economy.
      Other oil viscosities can be used as long as they meet the manufacturers specifications.
      Thanks 👍

      I'm thinking of doing the oil service on my sons 2018 1.0 tsi Ibiza after watching this video. I've checked the previous garage service sheet and they used 5w40 fully synthetic...I take it this is ok?....they are a reputable garage....thanks for posting the video...clear and concise👍

    For this engine the recomended oil viscosity was 5-w30 up until a couple years back...After 2019, for the exact same engine, they decided to recomend 0-w20

    • @DropTheBoxOfficial
      @DropTheBoxOfficial  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's correct! Unsure on the exact reason for the change, but I believe it's something to do with fuel economy improving due to the lower viscosity.

    • @DeanoBanksy
      @DeanoBanksy 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's not the exact same engine. VW modified the 1.0 TSI hence the change in oil recommendation, the obvious visual difference being the air filter box no longer sits on top of the engine. So pre 2019 it's still best to use 5W30 504.00 - 507.00.

    • @nitro-ww6sk
      @nitro-ww6sk 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DeanoBanksy so they did actually modify the engine? i was under the impresion that was the same one, and they had just moved the position of the air filter!

      @@DropTheBoxOfficialI do not know exactly but I heard in one video: a car-magazine journalist mentioned that the change was also in piston rings material or something like that. I would say this is the reason of oil specification change as the viscosity of oil is for sure crucial for piston to move freely.

    Should you be able to feel the vibration when seated in the vehicle? or just from visual appearance at the engine?

    • @DropTheBoxOfficial
      @DropTheBoxOfficial  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      3 cylinder engines will always have slightly harsher vibrations due to the balancing of the engine.
      Completely normal on these cars

    Just a quick question or two, I had an RAC man come out due to a misfire on cylinder three, but he did say which was cylinder three! Do you count from left to right, i.e left 1, middle 2, right 3, or is it the other way?
    The other question if you don’t mind, why did you say the three coil plugs mustn’t be mixed up, are they not the same, or they unique for each cylinder?
    Cheers for the video. 👍

    • @DropTheBoxOfficial
      @DropTheBoxOfficial  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes that's correct cylinder one is on the left (timing belt/chain side)
      As for your second question that's just my own personal good practice when doing any work. it doesn't matter for the coil packs but for some other tasks it could be vital. So I would always recommend getting into the habit of putting components back where they came from.

      @@DropTheBoxOfficialThank you for your great video. Please, what about correct orientation of spark tip? Once I read that this is important for 1.0 TSI that the small metalic part at the tip should have correct orientation once it is installed (to guarantee perfect fuel burning). If this is a case, how to guarantee that? Thank you

      We haven't seen this issue ourselves. From personal experience as long as the vehicle is maintained correctly it will minimise the chances of potential problems.

      I recommend MAN filters, NKG spark plugs and a good quality engine oil. Worth getting a price from TPS for a genuine service kit. They often have deals on engine oil.

    • @DropTheBoxOfficial
