Digitech has been a ghost brand for several years now with no actual employees and auto scheduled production runs just approved by some middle manager at Harmon. The DSP staff from the US office were hired by Yamaha/Line 6 after the layoffs. Tom Cram owns his own pedal brand - Spiral Electric.

    • @twittbaltimore

@@NotaBInMyH I'm sure Tom has an NDA and isn't really interested in rehashing a layoff story with internet randos. I sincerely doubt consideration was even given to Digitech's products or market share and I would be very surprised if anyone at Samsung involved in the acquisition even knows what Digitech makes. Samsung wanted Harman for their IP in the car audio market. Everything else is just a drag on the bottom line.

I love my DigiTech Trio+ Band Creator. I have shifted to using Ableton Live for doing live looping but that's a rather large setup with a laptop, interface, novation launchpad (at minimum). Way too much to bring to an open mic night. The DigiTech Trio+ Band creator on the other hand is a single pedal that gives you drums and bass "for free".
I was just thinking the other day if I were ever to break or lose that thing I'd really want another one.
I don't think you could cobble together anything like it with Ableton and various plugins. I think EZ Bass and EZ Drummer can give you drums and bass "for free" but you have to program in the chord changes whereas the DigiTech actually listens to you play and it's a more seamless experience for live looping.

I hope for some new "Drop" esque pedal in the future, whether it's under the Digitech name or someone else, and they add a MIDI port to it. That way you can just call up a variety of different tunings from an external controller/switcher rather than have to manually twist the knob or have multiple Drops.

my first two multieffects units were the RP50 and RP255, the brand wasn't the best but it definitley helped a young guitarist like myself get started with tone building and shaping. It was a bit sad buying a Drop pedal and a used chorus pedal and finding out the company was barely pulling through. Hoping they have a comeback. I think Mooer would be a good company that could buy their name. Mooer has been knocking it out of the part with some of their line in the past few years.

I really hope Digitech/ the IP has been sold off to a manufacturer more focused on pedals.
Or, now that the news is out that it may have been shut down, that a manufacturer makes a bid for the IP.
Whatever happens, I'm really glad I bit the bullet last year and grabbed a Drop for whatever the asking price was.
That pedal seemed by far the best for what I wanted it to do - take my DropD guitar and get it to DropC or a touch lower with no messing about.

I played those two albums so damn much especially since my one and a half year old Son is used to falling asleep listening to those two albums!
I am mostly playing classic Rock and Metal mainly Death and Doom but love the ambient melodies and vibes Shoegaze has to offer with vocals that appeal to most of our picky Society pop loving crazed population.
Lastly I wouldn’t feel right unless I at least asked if you have songs on sound cloud or videos posted here on youtube, perhaps you could title or provide links in a kind response?

@Bloom Tik Bloom I like mine, it's definitely one of the better reverbs. It's got some competition these days though, from Boss, EHX, and any of the countless premium brands with large, feature packed verbs. The polara essentially belongs to their hardwire reverb series, alongside the RV7 and supernatural. Some (many) of the algorithms are even shared between the pedals. Considering the age on some of those algos, they definitely were ahead of the curve, and I'd agree it's underrated.

*FENDER Runaway* feedback pedal is more capable & in a better format, but difficult to find. Rare AF.
*BOSS FB-2 & DF-2* are not as capable, but are much older pedals. If there was enough demand BOSS could easily update.

Frustratingly, whilst most effects can be found pre-installed on modellers, the one’s by Digitech are probably the effects that modellers have the hardest time getting right. In fact my pedal board is just a HX Stomp with digitech pedals because they can’t be imitated yet.

Welllll, I'm glad I already have a whammy and a drop pedal. Whammy is nice to have but I don't use it too often. But the drop pedal has been an absolute lifesaver out live. I basically have two guitars, one is in standard and one is in drop D. With the drop that means basically all my tuning is covered with just those two guitars.

I work for a full service production company, and were a JBL/Crown Dealer, and recently a Harmon rep was in talking about stuff and he mentioned that they're sort of tying off loose ends on all the smaller companies that they've acquired over the years because of that stuff just didn't sell so great, so it makes sense that digitech would be cut from the Harmon umbrella compared to other stuff they sell

  • @barryprovost4597
    @barryprovost4597 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I’m sure they were selling off the rest if there stock, only the Looking Glass seems to be “in stock” on the site, perhaps the rest reserved for dealers? Very sad for the whole Digitech/DOD brand, for many it was their first pedals and including the Whammy are famous for many tones we love.

I'm a solo artist and use a trio+ all the time. I heard this rumor last year and ordered another trio+ to have in case they stopped making them. Sweetwater told me then it was on backorder and they didn't know when they'd have more but would ship it when they did. It took about 3 months but I got it. My advice is, if you want a Digitech product you better order it now. Maybe they'll be back or maybe not. Or maybe (foil hat in place) it's a scam to get fools like me to order extra backups. Who knows?

Ran an RP-7 for a long time and loved it. Thought it was the best because it had a real tube in it..ha. I'm sure it just worked on a starved plate voltage and didn't do much. Some years later jumped into the iPB-10 and thought there was so much potential with that product. Tones were good and lots of room for development. I think Apple had a hand in killing that product due to App Store policies.. too bad. Hope someone can pick the brand up and return it to what it was 20 years ago.

I still have my old digi rp250 board - pretty dated now but it was a super useful tool for playing live with minimal gear
You could get some really good tones out of something simple before like impulse response was as big as it is now
    Big F for Digitech
That being said any modern dital processing is way better by any measure

Damn that's a shame, Digitech was one of the most underrated brands IMO. I had the 2101 preamp which was basically the precursor to the Axe FX from the 90's and it was one of the best pieces of gear I had ever owned. I eventually sold it to focus more on my tube amps preamp sections and bought the RP1000 so I could store patches that combine the channels on my amp with the effects of the processor. Another extremely underrated piece of gear (people seem to think just because it has RP in the name means it's terrible), and I still use it to this day. Hopefully this isn't the end of Digitech, even if they did abandon 99% of their products before this situation.

Still have my Digitech RP 1 and RP 12... that gets used on a weekly basis in the studio. I have many processors for the studio and live , from Digitech to Eleven rack, Line 6 rack stuff and the great POD 2.0. Fractal Logic stuff, Eventide rack gear....still use what is needed on the songs! Digitech still has the "80's" sound if you need it!! Great guitar tones came from that era.

Not just DigiTech. Also DOD. Everybody thought Harman was bullshitting everyone about ending production on these pedals, but now their last stock is dwindling. I had been looking at buying a Digitech Drop pedal for a few months. They were hovering around $235 on Amazon for a few months. Then a couple weeks ago the prices shot up to $500 for the pedal. I went to reverb and was able to find the Drop pedal for around $85-$150 (new) in Europe. Most of the vendors wouldn't ship to the USA. I ended up finding a store in Belgium that would ship to the USA for $35. I bought the pedal for $159 brand new, ($208 after shipping and fees). Sooo glad I got it. I really wanted the pedal, regardless, but now it seems it could end up being another KLON.
