The only way you’ll truly undertand how good this pedal is, is by having one. I own a ESP LTD MH-1000 EverTune and down tuning is not a thing with this kind of bridge. Another thing you need to understand is that when you change your string guage, tuning or both, you need to setup your guitar all over again. The action, intonation ect… will changed if you change tuning and string guages but this pedal make it so you dont have to go through any of that, especially when you just want to play a song then go back to whatever tuning your guitar is setup.

Dont forget making the nut slots larger. Which will sometimes make going BACK to lighter gauge not doable. Word

Yeah, there’s really no reason to mess with your stock nut filing.. it will only limit your options. And in most cases lessen your ability to properly set up your guitar.

I know people who change tunings frequently with an Evertune. yes its not as quick and easy as a hard tail, but it can be done relatively easy (but I had a choice in LTD deluxe Arrows with ET or not and picked the not). I mean it's not a FR. Saying all that, as you said you don't have to worry about intonational changes and other issues when using this pedal and probably the biggest reason to get one of these. I often change around from drop tunings to lower standards.

If you’re using this pedal in a rock or metal situation… make sure to use a tube screamer or overdrive etc. that will help boost the tone when you’re dropping it down real low. I compensate with drive on the pedal and my amp for tone. Also if you’re playing flat a half step you may hear your guitars natural tuning mixed with the pedal tuning …if your volume is low.

I’ve got a few pedals on my wishlist that I’ve been dying to get, past fx elastic mattress, boss rotary simulator, digitech color driver. I’ve been wanting those for over a year. And then this thing comes across my radar, and all of a sudden it’s jumped right to the front of that list. My stray has a floating bridge, so changing tunings is out of the question, despite my desire to play other stuff in other tunings. This will solve all my problems!

One of the things I’ve experienced with this pedal is that it depends on your tone how crisp the drop comes into play. If you use a fortin grind to kick up some of the higher freq, the cleaner and tighter the drop will perform.

  • @warmfoxx3801

Great demo of this cool pedal! I could totally see someone using this video to decide if they wanted that pedal or not (that's what I've done before; TH-cam is awesome for that). So, from my experience in playing tuba in classical music and bass guitar & cello in classic rock cover bands; once you get past a certain lower point on the sound frequency chords and intervals other than a perfect 5th (7 semitones) sound really warble-y no matter what. Even if you had multiple bass guitars all with perfect setups to play chords with each other, if they play them low enough the chords start to get really muddy. I could have misinterpreted what you said in this video, but it's not really the pedal that is causing that muddiness; it's just how low frequency chords sound. Otherwise killer demo, definitely got a sub from me! Looking forward to more vid's!

      @MadManMusic  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey thanks for the compliment!
      You’re absolutely right.
I think for both guitar and bass, this pedal is still the most useful when you keep it within 1-2 semitones. Aside the the warbles, latency starts to become noticeable and that makes it a bit difficult to articulate… but again, I think this lil guy holds up pretty well!

@@sutherlandnoah in general, the lower the chords, the more warble-y it will sound. E standard will be the least warble-y, D standard will be a little more and B standard will be even more. Yea using it with my 6 string PRS tuned in an alternate Drop B, I have my low in A# and actually makes the pedal worthless to me ha. I don’t own one but a friend of mine does and I have demo’d it. I agree it’s good for a guitar in standard tuning trying to drop only a half or whole step but that’s it. Unless you just want some gnarly Korn sounding “Here to Stay” drop, then using a guitar already detuned with it you can pull off some cool little parts here and there but mostly just sounds like an extremely muddy fuzz.🤘🎸🤘

@@MadManMusic yes. And it can be a true artform to build a massive board and find ways to add more pedals and extra features. And make it all look pretty. Looking pretty, I'm still working on but my pedal board always turns heads. At least I'm able to hide all the cabled mess under the hood. Next I wanna get it all under control.
Also when I'm building a board, I find that pedals that dictate how I have to build the board just because of their size, ill forget about other important aspects. Ill make mistakes on pedal placement and planning ahead. So I'm learning to avoid huge pedals when possible. I'm starting to put my foot into the world of pedalboard design. My first board was far from a marketable product but I'm over here making mistakes and learning. I'm on my third "finished" board right now and preparing for number 4. I plan to make this next one pretty. I got my construction worked out. Time to break out some paints and get creative and master cable management. If things go well I have an innovative new design that could change how cable management is approached when building pedal boards. And like many good ideas, this one is so simple its stupid.

Even if you use an 8 string guitar the same EQ that I use in my 6 just doesn't fit the same ..

    • @shemaghs9984

It pitches down every string equally, so it all depends which tuning you begin in. If you start in E Standard, you will have to play E standard power chords no matter how much you pitch shift with the pedal. Likewise, if you start in drop D, you'll continue to play drop d power chords after pitching down.

It would total work well in front of the Helix. I wouldnt recommend it being in the loop. You want it to process your cleanest signal. So it needs to be one of the first pedals in the chain.

I do not like this pedal. It is very noisy with almost some kind of weird flanger effect. And when the drummer start the counting in on his hi hat, the pickups in my guitar becomes microphonic. Strange. Ok for home practice though. Not live or in a loud practicing session.

    • @MadManMusic

That sounds a lot like there’s an issue with your guitar’s pickups and or wiring…
What kind of guitar and pickup are your using?
As for the Drop, it works excellent for live use. People play stadiums with it. If you stay within 2-3 half steps you’re fine. Beyond that you get some flubby latency.
