- Day in the life of a plumber
In todays episode I install a new gas boiler. I remove the old boiler, alter the pipework, fit a filter and clean the system
As always, thanks for all the support, it is greatly appreciated

Why in heavens name don’t people clear their kitchens/ cylinder cupboards to give you room to work? It’s not like they don’t know you’re coming. Excellent job as always.
Some people do, some don't, I don't mind too much, thanks for watching as always, have a great weekend 👍
Lazy
I never understand why so many people don't make room. Don't they know who you are

I’m a plumber/ heating engineer myself…. Always good seeing how others do things. I have been laughing my head off for half hour about your brush. Thinking of taking it to the repair shop and getting it rebrissled 😂😂😂😂😂 priceless mate. Absolute legend. All the best mate. Top man.

Thanks for the support and kind comment mate, my back is holding up at the minute, it might be different in a few years
Great bit of camera work and looks a decent job. 👍👍. Cutting the grass was a nice touch.
Thanks for the support mate, have a great weekend
Those Baxi boilers look spot on Tom, very tidy job as per usual, bit of a pain sending you some 10mm valves though, have a good weekend and take care 🚽👍
Thanks for the support as always Peter, I don't know why they don't make the 10mm valves a different coloured box, have a great weekend 👍
A brilliant job there Tom .and nice of you to keep us updated of the regulations changes ...hope you got tea and biscuits 😂
I have no grass so you are safe here 😂😂
Thanks for the support as always John, I don't drink tea or coffee, only water, I'm weird like that
Nothing wrong with that Tom. water is better for you 👍
Hi Tom,
Another very nice installation there, I always enjoy the making good and repair bit after the plumbing etc.
A bit of bricking and some woodwork at the end to finish the job off, but in the last 50 years or so I can’t remember cutting a customers lawn 😂 but I may have done? An excellent film and an excellent job, have a great weekend and as always Tom take care. 👍👍👍
Thanks for the support as always Chris, I do enjoy a bit of brickwork as well, cutting the lawn was a first for me, I've taken a few bins out and hung washing before though
Another good video Tom
Thanks for the support as always Brian, have a great weekend
Great video and quality work as always. You are a better brickie than most of the brickies I know mate !!!
Thanks for the support as always mate, brickwork just takes me a long time

Thanks for the support as always mate 👍
Nice work as always Tom, was up your way recently, stayed a couple of nights in Lincoln near the cathedral, nice part of the country
My brother lives up by the cathedral in the posh end, it is nice up there to be fair around the balegate, I could never afford a house up there being a poor plumber, thanks for the support as always Danny
Top stuff as always mate
Thanks for the support as always Darren, hope you have a great weekend
Hi Tom, another interesting video. Perhaps you could also start offering Gardening services then while your waiting for your Gas checks and System flushes to finish. Keep the Videos coming. Regards Dave..
I could do, some would say I did a better job of cutting the grass than fitting the boiler, have a great weekend Dave
beauty job Tom
Thanks for the support as always Brian, have a great weekend
Nice job👍
Thanks for the support as always Patrick
Nice wee change over Tom, I have only just started doing my gas rate over one minute for the past few weeks, don’t see much difference between 1 or 2 minutes. 👏👏👏
I did both on this just to see and it made no difference, they do say 1 minute should give a more accurate reading though, thanks for watching as always Andy
Really interesting to see a job beginning to end, and well done on mowing the grass haha. I'm going to change my 3 port valve following your tip and I'll let you know how that goes. Never done it before, but just fitting like for like so should be fine lol
Thanks for the support as always mate, good luck with the 3 port change, hope it all goes well 👍
Done a few of those boilers well heavy now I know why ime suffering with back problems so take it easy Tom 😩
They are heavy, my backs alright at the minute but I might sufer in later years, have a great weekend 👍
Good plumber you lad
Thanks for the support Mark, it is greatly appreciated 👍
😊😊😊😊😊
Thanks for the support as always Ross 👍
If you get that brush sorted Tom, it will be like triggers Bruce from fools and horses. Great work though.
It will mate, I'm hoping for a medal as well, thanks for watching, have a great weekend 👍
Brush
I was telling Jacob about triggers broom and he's never seen only fools, he didn't even know who del boy was
@@PlumbLikeTom Is it on tiktok? jokes
Great video as always how come you youngsters never wear gloves when taking out a boiler you will regret it in years to come, well done.
Thanks for the support mate, I really should wear gloves, I have never bothered but like you say I will likely pay for it one day
Don’t like Baxi, don’t range rate, bang average. Great vid as usual Tom
Fair points mate, thanks for watching as always, hope you have a great weekend 👍
🤘😎🤘
Thanks for the support as always Wayne, have a great weekend 👍
@@PlumbLikeTom 👍👍
Good job tom. Did u do that urself or did u have someone to help. You did alright to have boiler finished for 12. Id love a job where u could park at the door and boiler was at the back door, in edinburgh its mostly flats in streets with little parking
I did this one solo, parking does make a big difference, thanks for watching as always mate 👍
I’ve heard of engineers doing a 20 second gas rate test. They said that it will burn the same amount of gas over 20 seconds as it will over 60 seconds. 🤷🏼♂️👍🏼
In therory it would still probably work out the same, it's just not recommended but might be one day, thanks for watching
BG have now been allowed to do a 1 minute GR, they’ve been trialling it and reckon the potential savings for for gas and water usage are massive.
lmao you cut their grass? xD I worked with a plumber once and one of his tales was in the summer and as it was hot after he installed the customers new shower he 'tested' it for them lol.
He was telling me he'd just come out of hospital and he was trying to get someone in to cut his grass, I decided to do it for him, my good deed done, thanks for watching Rich, have a great weekend
@@PlumbLikeTom Ah nice one mate good on you.
Have you serviced one of those ?
I couldn't get my head around it .
looks like I need a day training . I was even scratching my head .
They are a good boiler ,but the display is dated .
I don't think there to bad to work on, there are easier boilers though, cp utilty on youtube has a full strip down video on one of these, thanks for watching as always mate 👍
@@PlumbLikeTom Cheers I will take alook .
Have you done any of Air sauce heat pumps yet and if so are they any good
I used to sub for a heat pump contactor for a few years. I have fitted around 40 with mixed results. I was just an installer though so it was just a case of putting in the supplied material
Nice job. Do you normally recommend boilers to your customers or will you just fit whatever? Seen you fit a few different brands now, how do you decide?
Cheers
I try to stick to boilers I know but will fit most things if the customer wants it, I got a lot of hate on a video once when I fitted an alpha combi but I thought it was a nice boiler. Thanks for the support mate, have a great weekend 👍
Air sep's piped up wrong- vent and feed the wrong way round
I never noticed it mate, I have never really liked them, two tees 150mm apart is how I normally do them if I need to cut them out, thanks for watching
That can still block better to tee the cold feed into the vent
After 17 and a half years doing commercial plumbing and pipe fitting I'm done with the trade anymore. I give a lot of credit to service plumbers. I can do most of it. Everyone in the states is begging for tradesmen but they don't want to pay. It's not worth it anymore
Thanks for watching mate
Havnt seen an air sep in years
I don't really like them, they always block, thanks for watching as always mate 👍
I've got some leylandii that need a trim if your interested Tom?
I've got a few at my house that need doing as well, it's a job I keep putting off, thanks for watching as always Tom
Wait until you get to my age Tom. It’s an effort even picking up a hammer…
I'm dreading getting old, my old boss couldn't lift anything, thanks for watching as always Darren 👍
Let me know where I can send you a new broom.
I only need the bristles mate, thanks for watching as always
I’ll see what I can do
great work sir, ( even the grass). i watched your episode on the house revamp and after i re-arranged your vids to watch from day 1; i must say that your face said it all when you had to start agian in the bath/shower rooms. i would of got them a book " SO YOU WANT TO BE A PLUMBER" of amazon £11 and told them to stuff it , but hay still got it in the end
I am not plumber but more electrical / electronics and DIY i just like watching engineering stuff and learning abit... thank you tom.🙂
Thanks for the support mate, I'm so pleased you are enjoying the videos, hopefully plenty more to come in the future
