its a pain reworking pipe in my house built in 1967. i couldnt imagine reworking pipe in brick houses built 100+ yrs ago. its very interesting seeing the different ways plumbing is done in different countries. really like the clean look of bent copper. wish i would have knew that before i put in my boiler otherwise i would have did that instead of soldering elbows and 45's.
Good to see it coming along, people don’t realise how much work goes into our trade do they, you make it look easy Tom ,keep em coming and take care 👍🚽
The Flowplast solvent brush is the same short, throw half of it away. Great video as always mate. What's the ratchet cutters you've got, I've got Rothernburger ones but they are absolutely foooked squeeze the pipe dunt cut it lol and they don't make oval fittings lol. Have a good weekend mate
i like the black swan glue in blue tin, not easy to find, got large round sponge and quite runny. you must be still poorly tom, saw you using the correct tool again for bricks 😜
As always Tom... fantastic attitude and great content. Brilliant video to inspire newbies to don't see problems only solutions. Your a good man sir, able to utilise old and new school techniques. I get the feeling you reluctantly turn to press over soldering and feel guilt like an unfaithful man having an affair 😢😂
Thanks for the support as always Carl, I much prefer soldering to be honest, I am pressing more on some jobs just for speed and ease, it's nice to have both options open and I can pick which one to use depending on the job
Great job Tom, it’s never great working to fixed points let alone having limited access and then the pipe being full of water! Ideal job for press but you couldn’t get it in and then the non slips! It has ballache written all over it and that’s just me typing it!!👍🏻
Thanks for the support as always mate, press would have been perfect but it was so tight, I did ask for slip couplers, It was one of them merchants where everything's behind the counter so they get the stuff for you, I never checked them
Tom your videos always show the “real world” none of these easy “swaps” pipes than cutters can go on, it’s the actual reality of day to day problems we face. Weirdly I come home and watch someone doing the same much calmer than me. Cheers mate
Have a good weekend Tom. You inspired me to do a little bit of my own plumbing this weekend with a hot water boiler under the sink. Hope everything goes well cause the North Sea is in the way of me hiring you 😅. Cheers
Hi Tom, a great film with quite a few conundrums to get over but as always you did it, well done. As you say Tom, “no one said it was going to be easy”, another great job completed. As always take care and have a great weekend. 👍👍👍
Great video Tom - super impressive how you sorted out the pipes with no movement. This afternoon did a first fix on a basin hot and cold; turned the cold back on to test - what’s that noise? Forgot to put speedfit caps on the pipes! 😱😱😱Fortunately lever isolation valves close by, so not too much mopping up! Have a great weekend!
Thanks for the support as always Steve, I never call them a leak when you forget to cap the pipes off, it's just simply flushing the flux out, have a great weekend mate 👍
Hi Tom , long time subscriber . Love watching your videos . I’m an experienced wet plumber , we have recently bought a fully serviced & orefurbished external Grant Vortex Pro 36 KWh combi . I’m doing all the wet side & having OFTEC engineer to do the oil and commission. Just a quick question if you can help? The DHW outlet is 22mm but all our hot water pipework internally is 15mm - is it ok to go 22mm off that push fit elbow and then reduce to 15mm to connect to the existing 15mm copper ? Sorry for commenting on this video but don’t think TH-cam has a message option apart from comment on a video. Many thanks .
Ideally you should keep plastic push fit connections 1m from the boiler, it will likely be fine in all honestly though in reality and I do see it all the time where plastic has been used as you describe
@@PlumbLikeTom Ihaha I knew I’d confuse you with what I wrote. The “push fit “ isn’t plastic - is the standard 22mm brass elbows that Grant supply on all their boilers, I’m using copper all the way mate, just wanted to know if I’m ok reducing the 22mm DHW straight into 15mm (in the boiler) or should I go a metre into the house then reduce 22-15 into existing pipework. Cheers
But we get over anything. My late father who was a plumber said you can tell the decent plumbers. They get over every situation. He was right. Experience is everything.

@@PlumbLikeTom whats the name brand of the bender you have? ive seen benders for conduit but not sure if theyll work for copper. thanks.

At least we know it's been done right even though its hidden, thanks for the support as always mate
Brilliant but just needs a trade like a Sparkie or Joiner to come along and fully screw your pipes up after all that hard work 😇
True, it might be me when I fix the basin though, thanks for the support as always Mike
Looks great Tom 👌

hows the house extension going?
Steady, I've got it up to the first lift on scaffold now, I might do an update in the next video
Solder ring fittings a waste of time TOM end feed everytime for me
The worst thing with no movement is having 3/4 pipework. . Slip sockets and old to new fittings. Ball ache.
