    Cart deport was day 1 idea I had in my mind when I played this game in 1998. The game was completed when I saw they put it into the game. Back then, it was frustrate that you have to build your population area so near to farming area in order to have a steady supply of food. But now you can be flexible to choose how you build your city.

    The cart depot was a great idea in Nebuchadnezzar so happy they decided to implement it into Augustus. I just hope they implement the mechanic to set the path of the unruly market ladies. It might bring them under control.

    THANK GOD, I couldn't manage to move foods over long distances without houses devolving all the time

    With Cart Depots I have starting using a new strategy on some maps: I create 2-4 granaries in a central area as a "distribution center" and use Cart Depots to deliver food from production areas to the distribution center. Then I have granaries in residential areas nearby set to Get Goods from the distribution center. That way I don't have to configure depots to send food to each neighborhood directly, several granaries together in the distribution center give me lots of extra food storage, and getting granaries will automatically go to one that has enough food even if it's not the closest one. I'm starting to do some of that with evolution goods as well (Pottery, Furniture, Oil, Wine) so I can just deliver it to a single central location and have neighborhoods get what they need from there.

      Its a viable approach for sure, its propably not really more efficient that just doing dedicated depots but if it works for you then do what you like. I like to eliminate all the chances they will do something i dont want like going to my farms granaries.

    If I understand correctly how it works, it is efficient to place the depot anywhere on the route between the source and the destination. In any case, it will walk twice the distance between the source and the destination. Suppose the distance between source and destination is D and the depot is placed at a distance x from the source (but on the route between source and destination). Its distance from the destination is then D-x. Then the cart will first walk distance x from the depot to the source, then distance D from source to destination and then distance D-x from destination back to depot, for a total of x+D+D-x=2D, independent of x.

      Hey, it indeed does not matter as long as the depot is near the source or the destination. Just dont place it out of the way and it will retain efficiency. If you want to know numbers of how many goods it can transport per year on optimal 80 tile distance you can watch the video called "advanced city planning"

      @mathijs1987j 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@commissarmarek-main-channel well, what I am claiming (I may be wrong) is that for the distance travelled, it doesn't have to be close to either the source or the destination. As long as it is on the route between the two.

    • @commissarmarek-main-channel
      @commissarmarek-main-channel  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mathijs1987j Yeah along the route is also ok as i said. But every tile to the side would make worse than just being at the end or start so its harder to make use of it that way often.

    I like highway and depot concepts, but not too sure about sand, concrete, gold, bricks, timber, clay etc. You need so much of workers warehouses and especially space and money. Takes too long to build monuments. I guess only large maps with massive population can afford monuments. Its not very easy on smaller maps to make grand palaces. Concrete needs reservoir as well. Hippodrome need so much Marble/bricks/concrete/sand :(

    The cart depot is a huge improvement to the game including the highway. Thank you for creating this video explaining it. Will I be able to download this feature ?

    • @commissarmarek-main-channel
      @commissarmarek-main-channel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, some of these features like the highway should already be in regular version of Augustus if you play the latest version of "stable". But there is also "unstable" version that has all the other things in it and more. Unstable just means there might still be bugs/balance might change later. If you want to play unstable, just go to where you got Augustus and click on unstable build instead of regular release for your OS + you need to download the developer assets which you will find on the same page. Then you put that into your c3 folder and everything should work.

    I already have Augustus on my PC. Is there a way i can have these features included without affecting my saved data?

    • @commissarmarek-main-channel
      @commissarmarek-main-channel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, i believe you can always play old saves and maps on unstable but the other way aroud if you ever want to go back. So solution is to make a new folder name is "Augustus unstable" and then copy your files there. Go to guthib where you get unstable files nad developer assets file from the same page whrere you get normal version. Then extract all into your new folder and its done. You will have both stable and unstable branch. Just care not to mix their files in one folder.

      You will most likely need to get the Augustus unstable branch. If has lots of extra features that are not in the main branch yet. There might be bugs but devs are quick to fix them if you report them. You can find unstable in the same page as regular Augustus but also download "developer assets" then extract both files into your c3 folder.

    I don't like the idea highways boosting regular walkers speed. It's not realistic and not good looking. It makes the game lose it's finesse, turns into a race game. Should be only for trolleys, carts and animals because those are large and can pass each other just like on regular highways. Then, the diagonal paved highway looks particularly silly and non immersive.

    • @commissarmarek-main-channel
      @commissarmarek-main-channel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Regarding the regular walkers being affected by highway - this is clearly an attempt to make legionaries be able to reach distant invasion points faster. Otherwise its not something i really think about a lot, highway is not something i have on every map. Regarding the diagonal tiles - you are free to build whatever you want. To me esthetics are the least of my concerns for my cities. Rough custom maps seldom allow any tomfuckery with decorations and extra expenses.
