i have the worst luck with crotons as well, they just hate being inside! and omg look at you breaking that glass jar, I would be wayyy too scared. loved the answers to my question. Situation A makes so much sense, getting a hearty plant that is a fast grower and can take up more space (and be propagated a lot) would be great for a one window room! And the calathea is definitely worth saving, such a beauty!

I bought a croton last year and it died in less than a month. I’ve never seen something degrade that fast. It was insane. Situation B hurts my heart. Too many to choose from.
