Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry that you’ve had to deal with this! There was SO much water I can’t imagine having to deal with this, I’m soo sorry. It’s such a shame he wasn’t insured and really disgusting that he was gaslighting you while you were trying to work with him and saying all those things about your basement being ugly like wtf! Boy do I get it... I started my home project in 2019 and since then I've had so many problems... People suck. I srsly look 10 years older and I'm so done with this sh*t to the point I don't even want to deal with the remaining details which include a water heater... I can't even. Hugs.
Wow what a bummer with the water. I don’t get what the guy done? Replacing a flow valve is so easy. Ohhhh I know, when he turned the water back on I bet he turned it all the way up so that made water flow way too much. Not sure you noticed but you called your Waraquaniuum a Warsiwicxi Calathea.( can’t spell) Your Frosted Heart is so beautiful 💚😀 Sounds like the guy didn’t have a clue what he was doing. Terrible ruined carpet an walls, keep an eye out for mold an glad you didn’t make any arrangements with him too fix it.
I’m not sure what went wrong with the fill valve. I wish I did it myself. Funny about the warq, cause you’re absolutely right. I didn’t notice until I was done editing and was like 🤔🤭🙄
So, so sorry for your disaster!! Cannot exactly relate to your story as I don’t have a basement but I do have a pool with a water leveler that works on the same principle as a toilet float. Welcome to the joys of home ownership!! Would imagine that the words ‘Licensed, Bonded and Insured’ are now etched on your brain and you have a list, or soon will have with copies in many different places, of names and telephone numbers of contacts for any and every emergency. Hope you’re all dried out!!
Etched in my brain is a good way to put it. It’s the second thing out of my mouth after “can you do this job.” That and getting them to say it in writing. Also key 👍

It’s a learning experience. At the end of all this, money is just money. It could have been so much worse.

The Syngonium is so much cuter now that it’s upright. Very much improved.

I need to DIY and trust myself more. Relying on others to do things the right way and be open to being wrong is near impossible.
