  • In this video I have to repair a beautiful vintage Tudor Submariner 7021 dive watch. The Bezel has some issues and the ETA caliber inside this Rolex case needs a good service. Hopefully this vintage Tudor Submariner will run better after a little restoration

This guy is showing us some of the most interesting and diverse watc restorations on TH-cam. He's easily top 5 of the watch service channels so let support him by hitting that like button.
Otherwise small channels like this dont get the chance to grow, please show some love to this dude and help promote his content!

One of my favorite Tudors and divers of all time. Tudor needs to bring this exact model back but with all the upgrades. Some say that’s the Pelagos 39, and while it looks somewhat like it, it’s not the same. I was shopping for one but good examples are all around $10k. That’s more than I’m willing to pay for an old diver

Great video, I know nobody asked me, but that movement is not from Tudor, everything other than the rotor weight is a basic eta cal, Tudor always has gold incablocs or kifs on balance, and has Tudor branding on top of the plate under the dial. Some watchmaker at some point might have swapped it, and even went extra miles to perlage the plates on this one. Auto module plate carry engravings as well.

Some constructive criticism to your working methods. You need to change that plastic more often when removing hands and protecting the dial or your Presto tool has a burr on the bottom stands. Your Presto tool put a scratch on the dial at the nine O'clock. Towards the end you obviosly made the scratch on the dial less visible but it can still be seen. I'd recommend giving the individual hand pullers more preferance and once mastered, gives more control and is less likley to scratch dials due to their round curved bottom where it contacts the dial. Of course a dial protector or plactic still must be used.
Also handling the dial with tweezers like this at 32:35 is never an acceptable best practices, even with platic, carbon or wood tipped tweezer ends. Never ever should the tweezers touch the face of the dial vintage or not. I primarily work with vintage and have experience with aged Rolex and Tudor dials and the finish becomes extremely fragile as they age and I wouldn't even recommeded handling them this way even with newer dials. I always use fresh clean finger cots gently holding the dial by the edges only.
Finaly, change you finger cots more often. They are inexpensive and I replace them every service to avoid contamination transfer.
Please don't take any of these recomendations as an insult as I'd rather you look at them as positive ways to improve. Thanks.

I bought one of these around 2006 for £750. I loved the watch and had it serviced. It ran fine but after a couple of years was losing 30 sec per day. I was concerned that in the future it may become impossible to get parts. This particular calibre was exclusive to Tudor. If I'm correct this model of Tudor only ran until about 1975. So a very short production run. I foolishly sold the watch around 2008 for £1000. Big mistake.
