      Question for you has come up today
      Received a sellita sw200 movement from a swiss seller
      It was listed as new but the stem will do nothing . Balance will not start .
      I removed the stem to put in my case and now will not wind or I can not pull it out to set date or time

    Nice job on this watch. I like the jeweled support for the date wheel to reduce friction. Date changes rob a lot of power from the movement. Mechanical watches near the end of their power reserve often stop at about midnight during a date change because it takes extra effort to change the date.

    as always, great work !! (and always such a feeling of a strong tension when you work on such movements ... god bless seiko & seagull 🤣)
    - just a question 31:00 : how can you be "sure" that, when you buy a balance, it's a legit one and not a "fake / clone" (call it as you want) for non rolex certified professional ... or worse, a hobbyist ? 🤔
    even on movements ~300 euros (e.g. a citizen 8110a) , there is a risk ... so on such movements / watches 🤐

    When rotating the movement in order to remove it from the case, doesn't that scratch the outer part of the dial? I know that's how it's done but seems it could damage the finish on the dial.

    • @FrenchWatchCollector

      @@FrenchWatchCollector The poor man’s Rolex. I wore my Willard daily for 15 years until it was so scratched up you couldn’t see what time it was and put it in the back of my sock drawer.Then I bought another Seiko and did the same thing. Then about 4 years ago I was watching Wrist Watch Revival on TH-cam and he was working on an old Seiko Divers watch,and dam if it didn’t look like mine. I went and dug around my drawer and there it was the same exact model. That got me motivated to get it restored so I sent it to Seiko in New Jersey. When they got it I received an e-mail saying they could do the work but didn’t have a crystal for it as it was an out of production model. Dam! So I had them send it back untouched. I ended up sending it to a watch repair place in California and they did the work.Now I wear my old friend every once in a while,don’t want it to get beat up. My daily watch is an Apple Watch Ultra,it motivates me to get more exercise and gives good time,but it’s not as classy as my old 6105.

    I've owned Rolex for 20 years. Worst brand I've ever owned. Service after service each time is about $500 and never gets anywhere near the accuracy of my G-Shock which needs NO service and no battery change because it is solar. Anyways you get the idea. Rolex is a good brand but watch quality is not good at all.

    • @FrenchWatchCollector
      @FrenchWatchCollector  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      For sure thé accuracy of a G-Shock will be better but it is like if you compare a Porsche and a Tesla. Not the same thing at all so difficult to compare

    • @RabbitWatchShop
      @RabbitWatchShop 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Noob, if you want precise accuracy, no mechanical watch can make you happy. You're right, a quartz or digital is exactly what you need. Perhaps GS's spring drive, which is a hybrid movement. Someone with your expectation of accuracy has no business buying a mechanical watch, because even a precise master chronometer deviates daily.
