I've got a worse loom than that! Lol.... I am collecting a Soarer engine tomorrow and the guy that took it out has cut the loom at the firewall!!!! I'm gonna have fun sorting that!
Thats how all the engines came onto nz years ago, cut loom at firewall. Then they started supplying the engine with cut loom and the ecu cut off inside the cabin so missing about 200mm in the middle. I avoid fixing them when they have been cut like that instead opting to swap for a good loom but I don't have many early looms left now. Soarer I have two sample looms left.
Soarer ecu and looms are very different in layout to an LS400 ecu and loom. Soarer have main power supplies by fuse box , LS400 have it inside the vehicle, different body connections, soarers have a number of wires traveling through the engine loom as well.
Hi Kelvin, Do you make these looms up for purchase? I've got an engine out of a 91 soarer that with the 40/40/40 ecu that I'm putting into a first generation 4runner but the loom is trashed. Would be nice to have something tidy and reliable to get the project going.
I have a 93 Toyota soarer with the 1UZ that is surging at idle, and I am having issues troubleshooting what the problem is. My code reader doesn’t want to work with it for whatever reason (I assume it’s because it’s a JDM engine and I’m in Canada) have you ever dealt with this issue? Can you point me in the right direction any info would be appreciated. Thanks
Kelvin, I'm in dire need of some insight!! 95 obd1 1uz non vvti, what do I need to make it work with an ob2?! Can't find enough info on the two to find the differences and what I'd need to change to get it to work in my 04 ob2 is300
I saw your comment on lextreme. To me its all the same. Fit it up and wire it in correctly. There are boxes for converting the dash over or fit aftermarket dash. Cheers Kelvin
Always impressed by your work and knowledge Kelvin! Where can I find those long red rectangular connectors that you used to split the battery cable out to the smaller power feed? Also just curious about the fuse and relay setup - have you considered using an all-in-one box like a Bussman RTMR to make the setup a little more solid and compact?
Hello. The red connectors are anderson 70 amp (maybe 75amp) connectors. Ive looked at lots of different fuse boxes and have some new ones coming. Im trying to make units which anyone can make from my wiring instructions and something which can be swapped around if required. So many decisions. Cheers Kelvin
Out of interest - what is the benefit of re-doing a loom like this vs going towards a new Link + appropriate loom? Is it just down to cost (where this + labour still comes in cheaper than a link + loom + labour).
This one is automatic which link does not presently support. Maybe into the future they will have it. Also cost as its doesnt require the purchase of the link ECU so cheaper. Cheers Kelvin.

I have a Lexus ls 400 1uzfe it starts a cut's out ideality does anyone know what that could be? it all So gives 0 Code's got new spark plug's a new coil an it as a new mass airflow sensor fule pump is all So Working :)
@@CartuneNZ its the stock ECU from 1992 hm I had it just delivered to Lexus they figure it out :) Wish I had tools to fix it myself but it cost me around 1600dollors but oh well...
