Hey Elizabeth... I watched this video about back when you first put it out, and so the other day I ran across a very sad news update video on Phil Collins. He's now gone from the incredibly capable singer / drummer / stage performer who could sing so well even when being physically active drumming (as you pointed out) to a near wheelchair-bound man who, in his own words, can barely even *hold* a drumstick in his hands, much less hit a drum. Evidently he's had some health issues as well as having taken a very nasty fall in his home a few years back, and now has tremendous nerve damage. I gather he can still sing, but he's both functionally and physically now a shell of the man he used to be. Very, very sad.
The vocoder was on the backing vocal, controlled by the keyboard player, who's also controlling the 808 hihat line. Obviously the main drum line is held down by the first guy, we designed the performance so Phil could be nice and relaxed and just do the 'solo' part on his kit while preserving the dynamic element of the vocal part.
The look on your face at the 18th minute and the rapid blinking of your eyelids says exactly what his music makes you feel. Phil Collins, the singer, writer and drummer is brilliant.
@@squoopen750 Nope. Not 808 at all! 1st - if you don't know 808 (as well as his brother 909) was commercial flop for Roland at the beginning of 80s. TR 808 was overshadowed by Linn Drum, Oberheim DX, TR 707 and Drumulator. 2nd - the gated reverb does not belong to ANY drum machine. It is more about this specific chain of FX which you can apply to live acoustic drums or ANY drum machine. It doesn't matter what drum machine you are using, it's about this smash in the sound of snare & toms.
@@catherinelynnfraser2001 He was originally the drummer with Genesis, taking over the vocals after Peter Gabriel left. Seeing her reaction to his talent that we've been enjoying since 1978 is like, dudette, where have you been?
@@billfitzmaurice3837 I know, right? I can't help but wonder where she was doing research on him that didn't say he was and had always been a drummer. I'd always found Phil Collins fascinating and amazing for being that lead singer NOT on a guitar or keyboard. I think being a percussionist is what gave Phil such a visceral feeling with his songs. I'm so sad for him that he can't play music like he had due to his health. He's endured so much.
@@Tiewaz Sad, yes, but sooner or later the torch must be passed. I saw him/Genesis in December, and you've never seen a prouder father than Phil when he introduced their current drummer, 'My boy Nic', who's just as good as Phil ever was.
Seeing you hear it for the first time and in this perfect live version, made me cry a little the moment he comes in with the drums. Your face of surprise and amazement was a beautiful moment. Thanks ❤
That was on the timing level of every Jinjer Pisces reaction pausing at a specific moment and then either going "this is nice and mellow" or "I hope they pick up a bit".
It's because drums come so natural to him. 50+ years of drumming and 40+ years of singing while drumming. Knowing where his health is right now, watching this brought me to tears when he hit those drums.
Sadly we all get old. Coming up there's going to be a lot of legends passing on to whatever death holds. So many, but the comfort we have are the recordings of their lives to carry us through till it's our time to check out.
Adult, professional musician, native English speaker, listening to Phil Collins for the first time in 2020s. HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE? 😮 Where did she grow up? On Mars? 😮
@@SuperStarWarsFan1138 I understand your point, but this is a reaction video, not a listening to video, so I guess if you want genuine reactions you have to accept her enthusiastic pauses. We can all go and listen to the performance without interruptions if that’s what we really want.
We didn't have beautiful people with highly produced music back in the day. You had to be damn good all the time. CF: Neil Young, Joe Cocker, B. B. King. I saw Ray Charles in a smoky little club in Ihe 70s, and his rig wasn't much better than my garage band's rig (yes, we snuck in), but jumping Jehosaphat did he make it work for him. One man, one keyboard, and 'The Raylettes' backing him up. Better than his shows at the Hollywood Bowl, at least for me. I could see the sweat dripping off of his nose, hear the sound of the Raylette's shoes on the stage. Heaven! Music has been the foundation of my family's life for generations, and your joyful analysis of all types of music has rekindled the flame for my first true love. Thank you for who you are and what you do!
And it's deceptive as well. Normally when you just go down the toms it's called "falling down the stairs". Phil added extra accents and notes. He made it his own. That's the way the truly great ones do it.
Her face expressions, so perplexed and full of awe, it was priceless, to me it was so emotional, I envy her for the chance to experience it for the first time. That's pretty much what I felt when I heard it the first time too!
When he starts playing drums, watch his eyes. you'll notice that the moment he started playing, his eyes closed. Simply put, he had to start layering the focus he used between the drum and his voice. As someone who played percussion all through school, the concept of singing while playing is ridiculous. The different layers needed just on the drums still amazes me. The fact that he is able to sing while doing that puts him at a level that I cannot understand and still sit in awe even after 40 years. He is his own category in music.
I have no idea how complicated that is but I trust you it is. I guess that's the reason not many drummers sing at the same time they play. Roger Taylor from Queen comes to my mind but I think it's more usual that guitarists and bassists sing along than drummers.
And he can't even read music. Some people are just born with it in them. I admire people like that, and curse them in the same breath because I can't do what they can.
Working with Genesis (and his other fusion group) he and his mates took their music very seriously. To stay together from the '70s into 2007 is amazing. They are all exceptional.
What do you expect? When you hear the name Phil Collins, you associate two things: perfect drums and the voice of one of the most charismatic artists of the last decades!
I know this is a late comment, but I only recently discovered Elizabeth and her wonderful channel. The moment when she realizes that Phil Collins is one of the extremely rare people that can drum and sing at the same time, and the pure joy and amazement on her face, is just awesome.
Welcome to the enjoyment of her reactions! She is amazing, and I am glad you have discovered her channel. I was just watching this one again because she does such a great job, and Phil Collins gave such a mesmerizing performance in this one. I almost fell over when she was saying his voice was in a groove almost like a drummer gets in a groove JUST before the drum beat drop! Her shock seeing him drum and sing, both so amazingly well, is well worth watching again.
@Blake N Not sure I agree with your description of Dave Grohl. Foo Fighters are celebrating 25 years as a band this year and have just released their 10th album. While they were a seminal band with a huge influence, Nirvana only released 3 albums and were one of those "James Dean" bands (Live fast, die young, leave behind a beautiful corpse). These days, most people would be very surprised to learn that Dave was their DRUMMER.
@Blake N Point taken. I agree, that longevity and number of albums doesn't confer "greatness" (one of my favourite artists is Devin Townsend - 25 + albums in a 30 year career yet virtually unknown to the wider public), and there is no comparison between the influence of Genesis and Foo Fighters. My point was that more people today would know Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters, rather than Nirvana. And that they would be surprised to learn that Dave was even in Nirvana.
Elizabeth's reaction when Phil started playing the drums while singing (without missing a single beat) is my reaction every time I see a live performance of this song 😃It is truly amazing.
the percussion - Phil. He was Genesis's drummer - then Peter Gabriel left, and Phill said he'd have a go at singing. I'm glad you're as impressed with him as all us Brits are :)
Yeah I love how she doesn’t realize that he’s the drummer and lead singer of Genesis after Peter. Ah… to experience music for the first time! Wish I could do it all over again.
The one thing I noticed was anger and pain on his face during the pure lyrics to just this look to joy at one point on his face while playing the drums. It was truly beautiful.
Honestly from all of the TH-cam musicians, this woman is the most most passionate and I love hearing her explain things and it's just you can see it in her eye's and her expressions
I saw the iron maiden she did and yes I agree. I learned something as well. Out of all the reaction videos I have seen this is the best channel so far. Although STOP STOPING THE VIDEO EVERY 5 seconds. That drives me nuts.
Yay, finally something I haven't seen a lot of reactors do: Going down history lane, and having a blast from the past. Looking forward to more of that.
Check out Paulina from the Mexican band The warning, she can sing and play the drums at the same time like Phil Collins, but even harder, she has a beautiful voice and her 2 sisters are amazing too (:
It’s her expertise - being able to articulate why a performance is good and the technique that goes into it is so much more entertaining than a simple emotive reaction.

I would have never believed when I teenager in the 80s, that young people would be listening, critiquing, and having their jaws dropping to our music in 2024 or 25 or 26. We always thought it was special, but you all confirm it.
LOL the moment when Elizabeth realized that Collins is a drummer. And a damn good one. The build up to the huge da dum, da dum, da dum, da dum dum dum DUM! Is iconic in rock music history. Genesis was such a terrific band.
it was today when i realized he was the one who played that part. i've known the song since i was little, and i knew he played drums but i'd never watched a live performance so my reaction was just like hers haha !
Imagine just discovering that Phil Collins is a freak of nature. BTW, he's a better drummer than he is a singer. Not to say he is a bad singer, but he is one of the greatest drummers of all time.
@@macm3081 When you specialize like she has sometimes you miss the "Normal". Not that that is a bad thing. Not saying "In the Air" is normal but it is POP, so to say, and she has specialized in Opera.
I mean... think about the fact that you could play the first part of that drum riff, and almost everyone you know could finish it. That's kinda legendary.
Love Phil Collins..this song is spot on, even now...divorce-ing what does not work is key. Locally, nationally, and globally. This song came on the radio a week ago and it's as telling now as it was when it was first released. So glad Elizabeth is doing such analysis about this songs involving emotions- 'in the air'.
Phil Collins is one of the greatest musicians and vocalists of our generation. And a large portion of young people have absolutely no idea who he is. Phil does not seem to get enough recognition or respect for his insane levels of talent. I am always happy to see anyone reacting to his work, hopefully you will inspire some people to delve more deeply into his work, it is truly a journey worth taking.
Are you serious? Some work from his solo career is very well recognized by people between 20 and 30, if only for his work with Disney. Then there's a generations wide appreciation for his work with Genesis both as a drummer and later as their singer. It's sad that he's almost deaf and in poor health but when he picked up touring again a couple of years ago he performed for full venues (stadium size) all over the world. This man is a legend.
It makes me sad how the younger ppl don’t know him as well as us older ppl. It just seems like a rite of passage for music lovers. You must take a course, Phil Collins 101, before u become a music artist! 😜
@@daanvdwielen8760 I think he took a lot of flak (unnecessarily) because he was EVERYWHERE in the 1980s-1990s. Familiarity breeds contempt, or something. I think he's amazing and always have.
@@daanvdwielen8760 He is a legend but unfortunally only for you, me and many other children of the 70's and the 80's. But the younger generation (not everyone of course) really do not know the artists that our generations knew by heart. So I see a full grown-up man who reacts for the first time to ABBA, or the early Madonna, or Pink Floyd, or Dire Straits just to name a few. I am not even longer surprised there are people who do not know songs by Queen or WHAM! or Pet Shop Boys - something that would seem to me quite unfathomable yet a few years ago.
both phil collins and peter gabriel, two legends from the aptly named Genisis. To be fair though, I more gravitated to peter's work especially his work for the Last Temptation of Christ in the 90s. Excellent work.
He starts out by just standing still, in plain black clothes and still gives the audience a fantastic ride with just his voice. And then when you think "this is awesome!" he just walks up to the drums and delivers one of (if not THE) most epic drum segments. While still singing just as fantastic as before. He is a great singer, but he is a legendary drummer. He just stacks his world class talents on top of each other. Just listen to the audience when he gets close to the drums, they all know exactly what is coming, and that moment is probably the moment they all came to the concert for!
" he is in a groove with his voice, almost like a drummer would be in a group"..... and then the shock when he's suddenly playing drums in the group... LOVE IT
To see the suprise on her face when he played the drums! Its Phil Collins. One of the best drummers in the world playing one of the most iconic drum rhythms in the world. He is famous for being able to sing at the same time. Not sure how she missed this information when she googled him.
She’s obviously a lot younger than us 😉. I grew up on Genesis and Phil Collins. But she only remembers him from the theme song from Tarzan because “she was a Disney Kid.” Man, I do regret never seeing him in concert. He is amazing!
Take Me Home .. guaranteed to make me weep for my teenage years. The lost promise of a girl I never dared to ask out as I travelled home on a bus from a week's summer camp...
HE PLAYED AND SING THE WHOLE 26YRS. HE WAS WITH GENESIS FROM 1970-1996. HE'S CONSIDERED ONE OF THE RARE FEW AND GREATEST SIMULTANEOUSLY SINGER DRUMMERS EVER.
Leland Sklar is one of the most amazing bassists in rock history. I am a huge fan of his work from Phil Collins to Toto to hundreds of other bands and albums.
Kinda makes you wish she had really looked into his pedigree before reviewing his music. I stopped in mid video when she referred to Robert plant and jimmy Paige as, the singer and guitarist.
You're crazy if you think she didn't know anything about Phil before she did this, please... She did her research and still doesn't understand. I am a drummer, additionally I sing in a chorus that performs with a classical orchestra. You are the first person I have ever heard that appreciates how challenging it is to sing while driving a hard rhythm on a drum kit. This has alway been my favorite display of Phil Collins abilities. Also one of my favorite rock performance pieces.
I’m a bass player in central IL and there was rock/metal band in the late 90’s in the area where the lead singer quit and the drummer took over lead vocals, did backups before, while remaining the drummer… It was mind blowing understanding how different the rhythm and vocals were and how he pulled doing both off and watching their shows!

I always wondered about it; I am not a musician but just seeing-hearing the different rhythms of the voice vs drums always made me wonder if he had superpowers to be able to do them concurrently.
That's why this is one of my favorite reaction channels. The pure visable joy when hearing and seeing an amazing performance. By the way, for me this song is among the greatest 25 of all time.
Oh girl, I can’t tell you how good it was to be a 15 year old when this song came out. Rock was special in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Love your channel.
Same here! Even behind the Iron Curtain, the album Face Value was available to us, and it basically woke me up from disco dreams and turn to the direction of this marvellous music and beyond :o)
They will need to invent new musical instruments to create new sounds all at once to get the musical talent and explosion of the 70's and 80's. Pop and or rock. There was so much new stuff, it was amazing to be growing up during it.
The look on your face when he sat down and started playing was perfect. It was like your brain was trying to understand what you were seeing and hearing, trying to come up with a possible explanation of how someone could simply continue singing perfectly while launching into an intense drum solo.
I love the look she gave when she heard the drum break for the first time, and then realized he was playing and singing. We've all been in that exact moment. Her reaction is priceless.
I love how the crowd is lulled into a trance and sedate until the drums come in, then it's like the crowd is released. It's like a master releasing a dog and the pure joy that the dog shows upon release. Pure sound and pure joy.
Well he was the drummer and backing vocalist in Genesis for years until Peter Gabriel left, at this stage of his career it was something he had been doing for a long time.
Yes! He was VERY popular and I remember my dad and me jamming to his music in the truck as we drove to farm auctions. It’s strange the memories that songs can trigger. 🙂
Then you guys should check out The warning from Mexico, they sing in English but they have a lot of 70s 80s sound, and they're amazing at playing and composing great music
Me too!... Genesis was the first concert I went to and it was The Lamb Lies Down with Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins I lost it I absolutely lost it when they said he couldn't hold a drumstick anymore I really fell apart
Me too. Would have loved to be able to see this song played live. My parents went to see him in 1995 when he came to Australia and I wanted to go but I was 10 at the time so they said I was too young. He would have been in his absolute prime then.
This is why Phil is a legend. My dad raised me on Progressive Rock, so I’ve been listening to Phil, Peter, and Genesis (among other bands) my entire life. It’s astounding, and yet not, how many people my age are completely unaware of all the talent back then and how important they were in shaping the music we listen to today. I will say that most people do know this song, especially the big intro of the drums. It’s the moment where everyone stops what they’re doing to air-drum and scat the beats, lol. Classic. ♥️
When you paused it at 17:12 I cried out "NOOOOO!!!!" It'a not your fault. If you've never heard the song before, you couldn't have known you were interrupting one of the greatest beat drops in the history of music.
If she would have just shut up and listen to the whole video and left her musical experience that she's trying to impress us with until after it was finished she wouldn't have blown it

I had to comment again to recognize the end of Phil's career as a performer. Last concert was last Saturday. Bless you Phil, you filled a lot of lives with your music.🤣
He's been doing that his whole career. Even when he was singing with Genesis he was also their drummer. Phil Collins is truly talented in this respect as well as composing.
@@rkress9349 I understand this lady is not familiar with Collins, but she had a tendency to fill the cavernous holes in her knowledge with guesswork: In the Air Tonight is not about PC's divorce but 'Face Value' of course is home to several songs that deal specifically with this event. PC has been using Drum Machines since the late 70s - this sound is not generated from a keyboard; Collins is a perfectionist in everything he does musically. He was a producer of many albums himself and understands the writing and recording process intimately. He played Fusion Jazz with Brand X; Prog with early Genesis; Sang on numerous other artists' work including John Martyn, Clapton and others. Any sounds heard on this live recording went past Collins' musical intelligence 'quality control checks'. She demonstrated to me the difference between a 'classically trained' music brain and an absolute creative genius like Collins. She spoke far too much for my liking - and not always adding any insight.
@@chrisgoldston9755 Read the first nine words of my comment; I qualified everything I said afterwards - i then added a bit of comment on some of her guesswork/opinions. I have no real issue. It was his second solo single. I Missed Again was his first solo single. They are both from Face Value but I Missed Again was released as a single first. This was the follow up single to it.
I've been playing drums and singing for fifteen or so years and singing and playing drums isn't all *that* hard. Once you've done it for a while, you know that your key words will fall on the downbeat and the answer words will fall on the up beat. Pretty simple, all in all. But what Phil does here is *vastly* more complex than that since he isn't playing a main rhythm line. He's drumming across the toms and almost all of the rhythm he's playing on the toms is on the off beat until he reaches the floor tom, which is where he anchors himself vocally. I've been trying to figure out how to do what he does in this song for about five years and I still can't pull it off. I have a massive amount of respect for the skill it takes for him to do what he does in this song. It's mind-boggling.
It don´t look easy at all. People like me struggles whit scaling a banana :):) But if you say that, i would likely be as good as Phil Rudd when he was 25 years old:) :) :):) lmao
As a guy who played piano and guitar and started singing recently I always felt that singing and playing piano is the easiest, singing and playing guitar is harder, singing and playing bass is even harder, and singing and playing the drums is the most impossible one.
I am a sound engineer and I truly wish I could have been the engineer for this live performance. This is epic! To Phil's credit, using a headset mic can be very difficult because you must have incredible control over your voice; especially the volume and projection. With a handheld mic, you have the ability to work the mic close and far from your mouth to control these qualities.
Phil collins is also a notorious perfectionist for sound at his gigs. “It should sound exactly like it does on the record. Thats what they come to hear” he said in one of the documentaries…
@@jamesdennis9949 the statement was meant as "both as part of a band and as a solo artist aswell". PF great as they are never achieved that with a solo act

You have to love, no matter where in the world Phil does this song, the crowd starts to cheer, sometimes more and louder, but ALWAYS starts to cheer as the drummer from Genesis slides in behind the drums, knowing what comes next. For those that don't know, its probably the most distinctive signature drum roll in the history of rock.
I reaaaaaally recommend watching the whole concert... it's a thing of beauty... I was there that night... and I would pay a pretty penny to get that felling once more!!!!
I've said that about so many concerts I've attended throughout my life, that I took for granted at the time. Now wishing I could go back and take it all-in again. That's why I push people to take a few photos if you want, but put down the phone and revel in the experience.
As mentioned, Phil is one of the greatest drummers out there. He started with Genisis as their drummer and then moved into vocals, often singing at the same time. There are great drummers like Neil Peart or John Bonham who are more than just a time keeper but can create a whole melody, then you get the ones like Collins. This is one of my favourite Phil Collins songs.
I only just found out this because I was thinking "I wonder if Phil and Neil ever did a drum session together?" and found an interview of Neil from 2011 where he says that "Phil was an enormous influence on his drumming in the 70's" and how there were 2 separate occasions where they crossed paths but Neil held back because he didn't want to impose. There's been a saying I've seen numerous times along the lines of "your favorite drummer's favorite drummer" well turns out Neil Peart's favorite drummer was Phil Collins.
The double drum solo on Dance on Volcano and Los Endos from the Genesis Seconds Out album is amazing! Phil and Chester Thompson just take you on a percussive journey…

It's because drums come so natural to him. 50+ years of drumming and 40+ years of singing while drumming. Knowing where his health is right now, watching this brought me to tears when he hit those drums.
Every time i watch this, its all i can do to hold back the tears from just flowing without even knowing why ..
It makes me sad to see Phil look as old and frail as he does today.
Me too! That was his passion!
Yes, so sad.
On Mars? 😮
When he starts the drums, NEVER PAUSE. It is a crime against humanity.
Damn skippy it is!
When you pause the drum solo, even the angels in Heaven and the demons in Hell go "Hey! We were listening to that!"
She talks too much...
@@raffytaganile2955 While I enjoy hearing what she has to say, she does need to work on her timing for pauses.

Phil Collins was a drummer who accidentally starting singing. He pioneered gated reverb on drums, that classic 80s drum sound. Phil Collins, a legend.
I've heard that he's always said he didnt like his voice- said he couldn't sing very well! In reality, his voice is freaking awesome!
@@NotAChevy1969 Correct, he felt that way well into the mid 80s . Thx to all the gods he didn't quit singing !
@@urgigrull4013 I know.. He's one of the greatest ever. As a teen in the 80s, put on some Phil Collins and the girls came flocking..
Heaven!

Check out the drum duet with Chester Thompson ,
Awesome !
He's also good at the piano (guy with a huge beard said that in the interview).
This one and Jack and Diane!
They should call them drum Phils in his honor.
And it's deceptive as well. Normally when you just go down the toms it's called "falling down the stairs". Phil added extra accents and notes. He made it his own. That's the way the truly great ones do it.
I'm 68 and to this day, I hear this song and CRANK IT UP!
Im 51 and do the same - sometimes very late at night - still no complaints from the neighbours!!!
This song always brings me back to the train scene in Risky Business!
The loook on your face once he started drumming said, "WTF JUST HAPPENED?!?! 🤣🤣🤣 It was great. Glad you liked it.
It was painful knowing what was coming and her pausing it right before it happened. I just kept saying, LET IT PLAY. DON"T STOP IT.
Her face expressions, so perplexed and full of awe, it was priceless, to me it was so emotional, I envy her for the chance to experience it for the first time.
That's pretty much what I felt when I heard it the first time too!
Phil is insane. The crowd knows exactly where he is going. He is known for the drums and singing. Just a Master Piece of music.
I thought he wouldn't get to the drums in time for the big fill, the speed he was walking.
4 decades on..and this is still THE drum solo. Every time it is played, the volume goes up. Way up. Immortal song
Not a drum solo, but yes, the most iconic break in any song
A DJ in Philadelphia years ago gave a funny award to Phil Collins for “The Largest Drums Ever Recorded” for this song.
It’s heartbreaking that he will never play the same way again…one of the greatest drummers of all time
But he will. In our hearts
The joy on her face when he starts to play the drums is how we all feel every time.
Also Don Henley is another that did it often in the Eagles.
Check out The Warning. Their drummer sings lead in some songs and backing in most others. And they deserve to be much better known! :)
Phil's drum riff has frequently been voted as the most recognizable riff in all of rock music.
I love air drumming to this song
IMHO, it isn't the big drumming in the last half, but the subtle drum beat at the beginning is so unique to this song, it's immediately recognizable.
Um, Dave Grohl?
The moment she realizes he’s a fantastic drummer, too: Priceless.
Should we tell her about Dave Grohl?
Or Don Henley from the Eagles
@Blake N Not sure I agree with your description of Dave Grohl. Foo Fighters are celebrating 25 years as a band this year and have just released their 10th album.
While they were a seminal band with a huge influence, Nirvana only released 3 albums and were one of those "James Dean" bands (Live fast, die young, leave behind a beautiful corpse). These days, most people would be very surprised to learn that Dave was their DRUMMER.
Not just a fantastic drummer. Legitimate top 10 of all time drummer. Try it, Google "top ten drummers of all time" and there he is at #10
@Blake N Point taken.
The look on your face when Phil started playing the drums was priceless.

This man is a legend.

both phil collins and peter gabriel, two legends from the aptly named Genisis.

Spiderbait - dude can drum fast as hell while singing. Try, Yeah Oh Yeah by Spiderbait.
It don´t look easy at all. People like me struggles whit scaling a banana :):) But if you say that, i would likely be as good as Phil Rudd when he was 25 years old:) :) :):) lmao
His work with Geneis for decades helped, with Peter Gabriel's singing ability teaching him. But he's a unique talent on top of that
Anybody can do it, but doing it well is a different story.
As a guy who played piano and guitar and started singing recently I always felt that singing and playing piano is the easiest, singing and playing guitar is harder, singing and playing bass is even harder, and singing and playing the drums is the most impossible one.
He's a genius. This song is very powerful.
He's one the 3 artists that have sold over 100 million albums in a band and as a solo artist. The other 2 are Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney.
you're forgetting pink floyd dark side of the moon
well over 100 million albums
@@jamesdennis9949 the statement was meant as "both as part of a band and as a solo artist aswell".
PF great as they are never achieved that with a solo act
@@jamesdennis9949 and btw, DSOTM itself did not sell 100M albums. PF as a band may have achieved that, but not with just one album
@@jamesdennis9949 That’s not true. DSOTM did not. 👍🏼
@@olabergvall3154 DSOTM sold 45 million
this man is just a genius. the majority of his titles were recorded by him alone in his personal home studio where he plays all the instruments... he may not be people oriented, but his talent needs no one else...
Phil Collins is my absolute favorite artist because he is mesmerizing.
Welcome to the amazing world of Phil Collins. Incredible drummer, incredible vocalist. I've loved him since his time in Genesis.
I thought everyone in the world had heard this song. It's everywhere. That drum fill is so iconic.
Its called pretending.
@@SleepySeel Yeah... Probably. Didn't want to say it lol
Welcome to Phil Collins: Lead drummer and lead singer at the same time. All of his music. He's one of the greatest.
This has always been one of very favorite songs of all time i grew up with this song. I’m a 70 year old man that has gone through three divorces and this one really appeals to me. Thanks for sharing this song tonight.
When she realised that Phil plays the drums... One word: Mesmerised!!!
"This shouldn't be possible" - The Charismatic Voice
THIS says it all !
thx !
Mr Collins was a Master. The world is a lesser place without his Voice.
@@Amplitudeification That's absolutly right. Luckily this Phil Collins concert can be seen... as it is availlable on DVD or BD...
I’d pay a LOT of money to have seen this live
Oh wow! How very fortunate for you, and amazing to have that memory!
Envy is all I have.
@@scotty110 Neil respected a lot of other drummers. He absorbed and understood all of them to add to his own performance. Probably seen Genesis more times than Rush but there is only one Professor and its Neil RIP. Not to take away from Phil bit nobody went to the places Neil took you, not just in the solos but in everything. And yes, if you saw him live he did hit all those drums. It wants just for show
I wish more people knew it. He always said that he is drummer, he was so good at it, he used drums addin so much to Genesis early compositiona
Phil is one of the greatest drummers in modern history, but he's *not* on Neil Peart's level. The only person that hits that level is Buddy Rich.
