I once stumbled upon a container with all sorts of valuable stuff, and I assumed some insanely high level player just dropped it because they had no use for it. Only months later when I learned of this transfer method did I realize that I ruined someone's day by taking those items. I'm very sorry to that one person. But also, don't use a high-traffic location like The Rusty Pick.

Plans shouldn't weigh my big issue that mule build with pa can literally hold more on u then stash comes to weapons reduce strength armour set , even if pa should make more sense carry more in pa . The back pack perk such things as that nice even new update u can't hold anything if your in pa wanna do dps build

Hey Fisty, One additional step I would mention to your viewers is when using Private Worlds to transfer, make sure when you go on with the 2nd character to SLOWLY go through the world selection. B/c I have had friends go to Private store an item and then with 2nd character accidentally click on Public and time they got back to their Private world ALL their stuff was gone.
I would pay real money for a central account-wide storage. I've been lucky with my transfers so far, but my blood pressure spikes when I attempt it, lol.
It really does need to be added. Personally, I’d hate to see it cost money, as it seems like something that really is a missing feature, but one way or the other it’s needed.
Before i did it for the first time i had a general idea of how its done but i still googled because sometimes i make things a lot more difficult for myself and sometimes obvious solutions in 76 are not the correct solutions. To help those who need it, I’ll give away my special spot. I always use the cloth sack at Sutton Station. When you run up the stairs, it’s on the left by the banjo. That is a safe container and an area of the map that doesn’t see as much traffic as white springs station.
This is so useful when you want to start a new character. A tip is to just transfer a few things at the time, just in case something goes wrong on Bethesda's servers.
The problem with no universal stash is what happened to me, on my main character I stupidly joined the raiders by accident but I want the Chinese stealth armour, now I need to make a new character to join the settlers and get the plans.
Just do a lot of runs of Eviction Notice - you passively increase your Settlers faction that way (or Moonshine Jamboree if you need to up your Raiders rep). I could be wrong, but I don't think you get irrevocably locked out of one or the other, do you?
Actually with the private worlds they actually are 100% safe because the time limit starts when you leave your lobby and you got 20 minutes real lifetime before your lab personal private world resets so therefore as long as you do not go into a public world before going back to your private world and picking up your items it is definitely 100% guaranteed to still be there
I use public teams to get back to the same world. Join a team, then I switch to loading another game, then quickly reload FO76 which allows you to rejoin the same team. Switch characters than rejoin. It's a little better than relying on one friend to stay online since as long as one of the remaining 3 team members is still on you can rejoin.
I stumbled on it as well and do it all the time on both Xbox and PC. For PC, go back to main menu and select "Quit to.Desktop". Relaunch the game and you will be reconnected to your team again. Then switch characters before selecting "Play with Team".
You have to be really fast for that to work, but if you join a team on the server your friend is on... that could give some added security if your friend crashes or you lag out of the team.
It’s easier to join a public team put the items on the close application then go back switch characters go back in the world and head to the location and pick the stuff up
If I do transfer I do it first thing in the morning. Servers seem to be better also I transfer at the wayward using the desk inside one of the rooms. Also on a private world as well, I also have both characters set up at the wayward with the tent and no sudden moves in my character either. So that way they spawn there and stay there when it is all done.
I used to use the big desk inside the White Springs station, on my private server. But once, the furniture didn’t spawn back into the station. So that was a fail. The only other time transferring items failed, was when my internet went down. After 15 minutes I was able to get back in, but the private server had reset. Nowadays I use that blue suitcase outside the White Springs station, since it has unlimited weight and won’t have the furniture respawn problem. I use it every few days to transfer items between characters. If Fallout crashes me out of the game (Xbox), I can still immediately log back into my private server and everything is still there. So client side crashes won’t hurt you. It would be nice if we had a shared stash, :::cough::: Borderlands :::cough:::, but this is what we have until then.
I like using Murmur's cash register for trading between characters in my private world. So far it's gone well. I don't do it when servers seem buggy or it's storming here. One time I accidentally went to a public world first, but I got out and back into the private world in less than 5 minutes so it was all still there.
I feel like it's a terrible idea to use either of those containers. Every time I visit those locations, I deliberately check those along with the other containers and pick them dry, and I know most other players do too
I'm playing 76 on playstation. What I do everytime I want to transfer my stuffs to another character is I join a friend's server first and then I join a public team. After that I start to store my stuffs at unfamous place which has unlimited storage space container. After finish storing stuffs, I press PS button and close the game. I launch the game again. I change the character which I want to collect stuffs and then join the game with choosing play with team option. Here's the reason why I join the public team. If my friend leaves the server or something happens I still have one more option to join the same server again with play with team option. Unless team leader kicks me of course. It doesn't work if you're alone in the team, you will not get the option to play with team at the game menu. I hope it helps.
Just a note, even in private servers, before logging off to activate another character, pick up something in the world to lock in that server, just a paranoia thing I do to make sure even the private server doesn't change servers on me
As most people have noted, it works most of the time. I recently lost some key legendaries when the server crashed just after I transferred the items. This is why I usually accept random friend requests - to give me more options on when I can transfer items by tying it to a specific server.
I have fallout first and used private world. I was moving excess ammo and known recipes. With my luck I placed items in container. Signed out went to 2nd character tried to sign in to find out 76 login was bugged. 3 hours later items gone.
I run two windowed instances at the absolute lowest possible settings on pc. I start on my mule account, crouch to hide myself from the map, then sit in my camp just above vault 76. Then I start the next instance, gather my remaing frames, and attempt to join the same world as my mule account. Haven't lost anything that way. Also functions as a cheaper/frustrating alternative to fallout 1st
What I did is buy a 2nd key (about 7 EUR I think), learn how to run F76 twice at the same time and basically trade with myself - that way I have 5 characters only for storage. Of course you have some googling to do how to run it twice but my understanding is its tolerated, like in many online games but I of course cannot 100% guarantee this so if in doubt you'd have to do your own research.
Fisty told me this was a perfectly reliable way to transfer items between my characters but I lost my Chinase Stealth Armor because of it. THANKS FISTY!!!
The best way to transfer things is to make sure your character is stealthy because you can crouch and it will hide your dot on the map and you can use a stealth boy to be extra safe also I advise doing it during events that way other players are distracted ding ding
We should have a lock/unlock system for items and account storage. Almost all other rpg games have this, as well as a legit crafting and optimization system. Thank you for another post!

Lately ps4 has been getting alot of server disconnections so be careful. I did it the other day literally moments before I couldn't rejoin when the servers crashed lol
I learned the hard way not to drop a bag to transfer to another character. I dropped it at my buddies camp, hidden in his room beside a table so nobody can see it. When I switched, the bag was there but nothing was in it. Lost my hunters long coat, q bunch of ammo and stims. That was a long time ago. Now I never leave anything unattended. My friend will hold it or be looking in my bag when I leave until I return.
It's about time Bethesda added a shared storage box. Even if it is capped to a smaller amounts so servers don't have any issues with hugh data swaps. This feature is needed and if ESO can have it surly Fallout 76 can too. Also you should be able to swap all items between characters, even restricted items that you cannot give to other players.

I like to join a public team, stash my items, and then from the xbox menu, not the in-game menu, close 76. Then once you launch the game again, you can choose a different character and you'll automatically join that public team again. Just about as easy as joining a rando or a friend. Also I feel like the blue suitcase is the absolute worst container to use. People are always dumping plans and items to get rid of so people often check and loot train station suitcases. I always pick a less popular train station, and choose a more random container like a garbage can or cigarette machine.
Private world supposed to be open for 10 minutes after you leave. I’ve lost stuff in private world transfer. Always have a friend on the transfer server server. private or not.
I’ve heard that too, but I’ve also heard that it can be more often. Without concrete info I’m just gonna play it safe and say “Stuff it in the suitcase”
Im pretty livid. I went ahead and filled all the dressers in the trailer nxt to the Wayward. Im playing solo with my Private server. Just lost all my serums and my God roll weapons. You never know if the items will definitely be there. Man, i tried throwing scrap in there first, and it worked switching between characters. But when I was happy it worked, I got overly greedy and tossed about $30000 caps worth of dope loot and weapons. Lost it all. Fuck me. Im going to make sure someone is hanging around the public world so i dont get royally screwed again

I've put stuff I don't want in that same suitcase and assumed items I've found in it are the same; items ppl do not want. usually it's plans, missiles, nukes and ammo in there. rarely it's weapons. IMHO this is a bad place to put items you want to trade between tunes. it's too high traffic, open. you need to go to out of way place, low traffic area. Putting items anywhere, on both public or private, is risky. I've lost power and internet on 2 separate occasions and couldnt get back to private server. items were just gone. I've also dropped or put items in something and crashed while I was doing it, i lost item from inventory but it never appeared in world. lost 10 bulk lead once when my game crashed.
Just a comment to your video. If you have 2 Fallout 76 Accounts, then you can transfer between those 2 accounts. You just have 2 game sessions up at the same time and you trade between 2 characters from each of the accounts, just alt tab between the game sessions you have up. I've done it many times. Quite the hazzle yes, but it works. And it's 100% safe.
Eventhough I do mine in a private world at the motel next to the wayward, I ONLY use my toon for stuff I’m going to scrip. My 1* or 2* crap. That way if it crashes or glitches, I’m not losing anything I care about
I really trust you man. Even with friends its risky. I lost an AAE250 Flamer and an AAE90%rw Gatling Plasma just because my friend crashed when he was dropping. We were in my private world aswell. Hope bethesda makes a general stash or something like that to transfer between characters without any risk. Thx for all info 👍

I have used the private world swap technique dozens of times and it works good. However....Im always worried about a time out when I leave the server so I always rush when I change characters and one time instead of going back to my private world, I hit the public one. As soon as I loaded in, I was hit with a server disconnect. Went back to my private server and everything was gone: plans, very, very rare plans. Lol, everytime I pass that train station I shed a tear.. So like the man said, don't do this with rare plans, armor or weapons!
Its a major oversight by Bethesda to allow us to have several characters in the same account and not creating a safe method of transfering items between them.
DAMN….I didn’t know you could transfer like that. I always wondered why I found good loot at that train station suit case. 1 out of 5 times I find stuff there. …I honestly didn’t know that was possible.
I do this but with Fallout 1st, in a private server the percentage of success is high but like this good man says: there is no 100% safe; once I did it, and the game crashed, and throw me out so I thought “damn!!! I lost my items but came back quickly and entered in the private server again with the same character and believe it or not, my items were there yet 😰😅 so, having a private server increases the success but IT’S NOT 100% SAFE. ✌🏻
I have fallout 1st. I do this with my few characters. But 3 days ago. I just recently pulled out all the plans. From my main. That I was selling. To give to my lower ones. I left the world. Then rejoined in pvt. Because I seen someone mention online.That storage you stash . In public areas. Will only store it for like 15 min or so? Well, when I quickly returned. As usual. It'll show that it had stashed items. But it was empty!! I was sooo upset, and disgusted.This has happened a few x. I do think I added too much to the supposedly infinite 0 stash. So I suggest add a few to eqch container. Then repeat . If needed. After your transfers. I'll eventually replenish what I've lost. It's just annoying! I figure . I also feel ripped off. Since, a few x. I 've come up short a few plans. If I had a few duplicates. But I do suggest to everyone. When you do this. Just make sure the different characters. Are already at the same transfer location. Also not in an area. With high leveled enemies. On say a newer acct. Oh and i just made level 20 calibrated shocks on excavator pa. Would I be able to stash each pa piece instead? Because I couldn't drop the pa. Then in a rush. I Unintentionally scrapped it! 😬 Thanks! Fisty this video helped me too !
I really wish they had a shared stash, because people love having at least 3 characters. You should also be able to switch between consoles, including PC.. I don't know why Final Fantasy XIV, is the ONLY MMO that allows this, and others can't.. Even FFXI back in the early 00, allowed this, along with allowing all players, no matter what platform, to play together... Safest way to transfer items between characters though, is having your private server. I just usually drop them by the camp of character I am giving items to, even if you get cut off, they will still be there.. But always be quick about it, just in case.
I disagree. There's a 100% way to transfer items between characters. And that is creating a new account with 5 new character slots and have both accounts active at the same time in the same world. Since I'm on Xbox and I don't have 2 xboxes to have both accounts active at the same time, I use X cloud (xbox streaming service) on my phone with my mule account while I use my main to transfer all sorts of stuff to my main's mules. This method is also free, F1st isn't required at all and is crash/disconnect proof.
I thought I'd found a fool proof way by using my girlfriend character and using the built in trade feature..... But one time I had a server crash during the trade and the plans vanished to the void

The icebox right in front of the rusty pick has a unlimited weight limit as well. Good for people that have mules just for scrip.

6 years later and they still havent made it possible for us to transfer gear between other characters why?
always get really anxious doing this, another tip is to look at the social list and see a few players, just in case one leaves you have a failsafe
Not every player on the social list allows joinable option, so be sure to check the account for join allowed option active.

Lately ps4 has been getting alot of server disconnections so be careful. I did it the other day literally moments before I couldn't rejoin when the servers crashed lol

I learned the hard way not to drop a bag to transfer to another character. I dropped it at my buddies camp, hidden in his room beside a table so nobody can see it. When I switched, the bag was there but nothing was in it. Lost my hunters long coat, q bunch of ammo and stims. That was a long time ago. Now I never leave anything unattended. My friend will hold it or be looking in my bag when I leave until I return.
It's about time Bethesda added a shared storage box. Even if it is capped to a smaller amounts so servers don't have any issues with hugh data swaps. This feature is needed and if ESO can have it surly Fallout 76 can too.
Also you should be able to swap all items between characters, even restricted items that you cannot give to other players.
I always do it on private world at the same vendor suitcase. Just pray the game doesn't crash 😬 only happens to me every once in a while & only once then I'm good.
I like to join a public team, stash my items, and then from the xbox menu, not the in-game menu, close 76. Then once you launch the game again, you can choose a different character and you'll automatically join that public team again. Just about as easy as joining a rando or a friend.
Also I feel like the blue suitcase is the absolute worst container to use. People are always dumping plans and items to get rid of so people often check and loot train station suitcases. I always pick a less popular train station, and choose a more random container like a garbage can or cigarette machine.

Private world supposed to be open for 10 minutes after you leave. I’ve lost stuff in private world transfer. Always have a friend on the transfer server server. private or not.
I think I remember hearing that with bag drops it takes 30 mins for it to despawn after you leave that cell/area
I’ve heard that too, but I’ve also heard that it can be more often. Without concrete info I’m just gonna play it safe and say “Stuff it in the suitcase”

Im pretty livid. I went ahead and filled all the dressers in the trailer nxt to the Wayward. Im playing solo with my Private server. Just lost all my serums and my God roll weapons. You never know if the items will definitely be there.
Man, i tried throwing scrap in there first, and it worked switching between characters. But when I was happy it worked, I got overly greedy and tossed about $30000 caps worth of dope loot and weapons. Lost it all. Fuck me. Im going to make sure someone is hanging around the public world so i dont get royally screwed again

I've put stuff I don't want in that same suitcase and assumed items I've found in it are the same; items ppl do not want. usually it's plans, missiles, nukes and ammo in there. rarely it's weapons. IMHO this is a bad place to put items you want to trade between tunes. it's too high traffic, open. you need to go to out of way place, low traffic area.
Putting items anywhere, on both public or private, is risky. I've lost power and internet on 2 separate occasions and couldnt get back to private server. items were just gone. I've also dropped or put items in something and crashed while I was doing it, i lost item from inventory but it never appeared in world. lost 10 bulk lead once when my game crashed.
Just a comment to your video. If you have 2 Fallout 76 Accounts, then you can transfer between those 2 accounts. You just have 2 game sessions up at the same time and you trade between 2 characters from each of the accounts, just alt tab between the game sessions you have up.

Eventhough I do mine in a private world at the motel next to the wayward, I ONLY use my toon for stuff I’m going to scrip. My 1* or 2* crap. That way if it crashes or glitches, I’m not losing anything I care about

I really trust you man. Even with friends its risky. I lost an AAE250 Flamer and an AAE90%rw Gatling Plasma just because my friend crashed when he was dropping. We were in my private world aswell. Hope bethesda makes a general stash or something like that to transfer between characters without any risk. Thx for all info 👍

I have used the private world swap technique dozens of times and it works good. However....Im always worried about a time out when I leave the server so I always rush when I change characters and one time instead of going back to my private world, I hit the public one. As soon as I loaded in, I was hit with a server disconnect. Went back to my private server and everything was gone: plans, very, very rare plans. Lol, everytime I pass that train station I shed a tear.. So like the man said, don't do this with rare plans, armor or weapons!

Its a major oversight by Bethesda to allow us to have several characters in the same account and not creating a safe method of transfering items between them.
I have two wide screen tv's two ps4s two separate accounts .makes it easy .my answer to weight problem before fallout first came out .
I wish I can do that but money tight rite now hopefully in a month or two I can do the same

Literally every other "mmo" style game has some form of shared bank system. Even if its limited to a small amount of items it will still be useful

DAMN….I didn’t know you could transfer like that. I always wondered why I found good loot at that train station suit case. 1 out of 5 times I find stuff there. …I honestly didn’t know that was possible.

The only safe way I use is to find a friend you absolutely trust and give the items to them and swap, rejoin them and get them back.

I do this but with Fallout 1st, in a private server the percentage of success is high but like this good man says: there is no 100% safe; once I did it, and the game crashed, and throw me out so I thought “damn!!! I lost my items but came back quickly and entered in the private server again with the same character and believe it or not, my items were there yet 😰😅 so, having a private server increases the success but IT’S NOT 100% SAFE. ✌🏻
I have fallout 1st. I do this with my few characters. But 3 days ago. I just recently pulled out all the plans. From my main. That I was selling. To give to my lower ones. I left the world. Then rejoined in pvt. Because I seen someone mention online.That storage you stash . In public areas. Will only store it for like 15 min or so? Well, when I quickly returned. As usual. It'll show that it had stashed items. But it was empty!! I was sooo upset, and disgusted.This has happened a few x. I do think I added too much to the supposedly infinite 0 stash. So I suggest add a few to eqch container. Then repeat . If needed. After your transfers. I'll eventually replenish what I've lost. It's just annoying! I figure . I also feel ripped off. Since, a few x. I 've come up short a few plans. If I had a few duplicates. But I do suggest to everyone. When you do this. Just make sure the different characters. Are already at the same transfer location. Also not in an area. With high leveled enemies. On say a newer acct. Oh and i just made level 20 calibrated shocks on excavator pa. Would I be able to stash each pa piece instead? Because I couldn't drop the pa. Then in a rush. I Unintentionally scrapped it! 😬 Thanks! Fisty this video helped me too !
There's only one way to transfer buy another console and another copy of the game or if your pc buy another copy of the game
To be fair, I would rather trust dropping my weapons than a mechanic made by Bethesda to switch my weapons.

I really wish they had a shared stash, because people love having at least 3 characters. You should also be able to switch between consoles, including PC.. I don't know why Final Fantasy XIV, is the ONLY MMO that allows this, and others can't.. Even FFXI back in the early 00, allowed this, along with allowing all players, no matter what platform, to play together... Safest way to transfer items between characters though, is having your private server. I just usually drop them by the camp of character I am giving items to, even if you get cut off, they will still be there.. But always be quick about it, just in case.
I disagree. There's a 100% way to transfer items between characters. And that is creating a new account with 5 new character slots and have both accounts active at the same time in the same world. Since I'm on Xbox and I don't have 2 xboxes to have both accounts active at the same time, I use X cloud (xbox streaming service) on my phone with my mule account while I use my main to transfer all sorts of stuff to my main's mules. This method is also free, F1st isn't required at all and is crash/disconnect proof.
Yep, I lost a 25/25 Fixer doing this on private because the game crashed.

I thought I'd found a fool proof way by using my girlfriend character and using the built in trade feature..... But one time I had a server crash during the trade and the plans vanished to the void
