A cool keyboard+mouse shortcut I know is that holding down the Alt key and double-clicking on an item in Explorer opens up it’s properties. You can also hold down Control+Alt or Shift+Alt keys to open up properties for multiple items.
oh my god, life just became 101% better
You can also hold on ctrl in a browser, then select multiple tabs by using left or right key while still pressing Ctrl key and then you can do an action at once eg reload all selected tabs using Ctrl +R
@@electricz3045 oh wow, you can even use shift to select all the tabs you want with just 2 clicks
I was always using alt+enter, thanks a lot for this tip
Menu button then R also works
Also a fun fact: That Alt+F4 while on explorer.exe (desktop) is actually a remnant of the *old* shutdown screen, used in Windows 9X
Didnt know that was a remnant of win9x, i used that panel all the time to restart, log out and shutdown
@@robloxboxertblocked9636 It is really the same as in 2000, and i am even suprised it has the options we have tooday! (sleep, update and shutdown/restart)
@@pawer_themaw like using it cause it looks nice and its detailed with more options
I did not realise windows actually had a native way to set a custom shortcuts easily.
It's kinda hidden and kind of dumb that you have to keep the shortcut icon on your dekstop for it to work, I very much prefer the way most linux desktops do it - just have a shortcuts section in the settings app.
Linux users know every shortcut because they made them themselves lul
@@iskamag I hate making shortcuts
@@waldolemmer welp u must be always opening file Explorer instead of using shortcut.
Pros: more faster when open/run
Cons: complicated for newbie
@@waldolemmer yes, but isn't good to make shortcut for everything

you are right!
As a windows user, i know how superior linux is, but the games...
Back in the days of administering Windows NT servers, there were times when the mouse would become unresponsive, yet you didn't want to reboot an important server during business hours. Accessibility options in the control panel were a very handy temporary workaround, where the numeric keypad acts as the mouse (in addition to obviously memorizing a lot of keyboard shortcuts.)
cool
Never knew of the native feature. Managed to do so with autohotkey, but an in-built feature seems way more convenient.
I always have it for my pc, plus its useful because you can switch from numpad to mouse keys from the num lock so i always keep it on
Fun fact: this option is still in there, and even may be quite useful if you need to place your pointer with the pixel-perfect precision (as, by default, hitting the num arrow button will move it just on 1 px)
I knew all of them, so... I win I guess!
Same :D
Win+Ctrl+Alt+B: *surprise*
Im already know
win+tab
same
Knew 51 out of 56. Definitely will be using the shortcut keybind feature. The rest of the ones I didn't know are rather useless for me (word wrap, send to desktop stuff...).
Also some of the ones I use a lot too:
Ctrl + L - focuses the address bar (windows explorer and browsers)
(Ctrl +) Home and End - moves the cursor the the beginning or end of the line/file
Shift + arrow keys (in windows explorer) - selecting a range of files
Ctrl + arrow keys and space (in windows explorer) - cherry-picking specific files to select (holding control when using cursors to not break the selection and pressing space to add items)
Typing characters in windows explorer selects the first file that matches what you typed. By not typing for a bit it resets what you were writing.
Besides the standard shortcuts I use a ton of other shortcuts that I added via various third-party software (sharex, powertoys...).
Thank you!
if you spam win-e too fast, explorer will start having some really weird behavior. icons wont render, your taskbar elementa will randomly be misplaced, and more. maybe enough weirdness for a video?

Did somebody with a laptop run away when seeing a menu button in some shortcuts? Don't worry! The menu button (and pretty much any right click menu when selecting something in any program after spamming tab) is just shift+f10, hope it also helps the 110%/100% keyboard layout guys out there :)
THANK YOU
THANK YOU!
What the f*ck? why shift F10 of all combinations?
Just wanted to add that spamming tab is a good strategy unless you don't know about shift+tab and you press tab one time too much
Shift + F10 is also handy when you need cmd right from Windows Installation environment
The underlined letters actually meaning something just changed my whole worldview

Best of all, it's open source :)
doesn't work on VPNs tho unfortunately
Not available for iPhone users
wish you were here for me a few weeks ago, my mouse stopped working and i had to use a crappy office mouce
I knew almost all of them except for the one used to open settings, peek at the desktop, minimising all the windows and how to use the calendar from the taskbar. Unfortunately, i wasted all my money on a mac and can't use my knowledge of windows anymore.
Anyways, excellent video! Hope to see more from you in near future!
What was your motivation to get the mac?
@@h.b.5577 It was the only laptop that had a good screen (its gorgeous (because i had never seen a decent display in my entire life until now)), a camera (because school) and could fit in my backpack (ok that's a dumb reason). If the 2022 g14 was available at that time, I would've gotten that because it's cheaper, runs windows natively and the mac pretty much demands the user to have an iPhone, which I will never have.

You can just type recycle bin into explorer (the filepath bar) to open it. No need to do press Win + R and to type "shell:RecycleBinFolder"
Or simply search for recycle bin in the start menu

But it's not uncommon, I assume, that people don't want like 5 different Windows Folders in their start menu, so they delete them.
I would love some potato wedges, especially sweet potatoes!
Windows flag key + Shift + M was documented since the Windows 95 days to Undo Minimize All Windows, but for some reason they never documented that it also can Undo Tile & Cascade of all windows as well.

If you wanna watch youtube mouse-free, here is some shortcuts which are: "J" "L" (Moves the video 10 seconds ahead or back) "K" (Pauses/Resumes the video) "," "." (Moves the video a frame forward or back) "1 - 9" (Jumps the video in measurements, "0" brings you back to the start)
Hope this is helpful!
Edit: I forgot about "F" (which enters/exits fullscreen)
more shortcuts: left/right arrow to move forward/back 5 seconds. up/down to change TH-cam's volume by 5%. "space" can also play/pause, "m" to mute", "c" for captions, and there are even more I don't know
Easter egg: Type "awesome" while focused into the youtube video player.
You can use J and K in Google to move between the results (it's based on Vim)
P.S. try searching "vim" to see an easter egg :)
Space key also play & pause the video

I haven't used Windows as my main OS in a while, but it's still helpful to brush up on some of the more obscure key combinations because they could also be some of the most useful, like permanent delete without binning.
I knew every single one except for:
- Alt+Up to move a folder up. I usually go back using my mouse wheel dragged to the left. Good to know though.
- Alt+Enter for properties. That is pretty cool!
There should really be an easier way to open Recycle Bin using one shortcut.
Btw, you forgot to mention Win+(Left, Right, Up, Down) which is like one of the most useful shortcuts for organizing windows.
This video would've been really useful to me just the other day, my mouse's internal software broke down after a day of intensive clicking and I spent hours investigating the issue with my keyboard only (I assumed it was an OS problem since the button still worked, almost reinstalled my OS), it was pain

Didn't know about Ctrl+Alt++/- in explorer window before, thank you for that. And about Win+N, but it doesn't work in Windows 10, okay. Now a few shortcuts that _you_ forgot!
Win+T sets the focus on the Taskbar, and Win+B sets focus on system tray. This is useful for me on laptop!
Ctrl+Shift+Esc open Task Manager, but you forgot about Shift+Esc that minimize its window and Esc that just close it.
You have shown Win+Tab, which open array of desktops, but have not shown Ctrl+Win+left/right which allow you to switch desktops directly.
There is also Win+A which open notification center on Windows 10.
And last and my favorite) Press Win++ to enable screen magnifier and zoom in entire screen! Press Win+- to zoon out and press Win+Esc to close it. Amazing!
Oh yes, I forgot a few shortcuts too! Like F2 to rename file or folder, Alt+PrintScreen or Win+Shift+S...
and even about Win+up/down/left/right to minimize, maximize windows and etc., and even about Alt+Space to move or resize window...
Tanks for the explorer shortcuts cuz I always struggle with going into different folders. Congrats on 101k subscribers
This Video is better than such an windows shortcut book i bought a while ago....
Thanks for the heart Fly ❤
This is really cool. My mouse broke so I've been using a graphic tablet as a pointing device for a few years. It's terrible, some programs on windows don't work so you need to use shortcuts to get around.
Not all keyboards have the triple lines key, but there is a way around it with Shift+F10. Saves a lot of hassle.
This is how a computer from the 80s would be like if it was on windows 11
I’m impressed by your computer skills
You’re a great source of computer related videos:)
Keep it up
Shift+F3 in supported apps on highlighted text will cycle through different capitilizations
Win+S will open the Windows Search
Ctrl+Shift+T will reopen a closed tab in Firefox and Chrome (and other browsers maybe)
You can also use Win + ; for emoji keyboard.
lol i thought it said Win + so i did that and magnified lol
Win + . does literally the same thing, learned it when I wanted an emoji, but didn't want to make another emojipedia search, so found out about it. Now, to get an emoji I always use it. 🙂
Good video! The only one I didn't knew (I don't count the recycle bin one because it's not actually a shortcut) was Win+, (very useful one actually).
Out of more interesting ones I know:
Win+Ctrl+Shift+B -- restart DWM driver
Ctrl+Esc -- does the same as pressing Win
Win+Ctrl+ -- the same as Win+Ctrl, but if you have multiple windows open, it will just open the first instead of opening a selection box
Win+Shift+ -- open a new copy of a pinned program, no matter if it's already opened or not
Win+Alt+ -- opens context menu of a pinned program
There are also a few Office-related shortcuts (called "OfficeKeys" by MS), I think they were added in Win10 or so): Win+Alt+Ctrl+, but they will only work if you have this -bloat- software installed.
Thank you for these useful additions! :)
I learned the "Peek Desktop" one. I already knew the others :)
I know some additional stuff with "Win + number". You can not only start applications with this combo, but also switch between windows.
If you have a windows of app1 and app2, you can switch between them using Win+1 and Win+2.
If you have multiple Windows of the same app, you can press the number multiple times to scroll between Windows of this app (Win+1, Win+1, Win+1 for example).
When pressing the number of the app that is currently focused, it will be minimized.
You can open new windows for apps that already have a window by adding Shift (Shift+Win+1).
By using Alt+Win+number you get the "right-click"-menu of that app.
i've come back after years and not even this guy escaped an oversimplified logo
Ctrl+W is also an useful shortcut, for closing windows(explorer or notepad etc.), but not for every windows.
Also works in chrome or edge, for closing tabs.
Also Ctrl + Shift + T for opening a tab you just closed!
Works if you accidentally close the browser too, just open it again and do the shortcut.
lets not forget that if the person don't have a mouse, and the software don't have proper keyboard support, or some specific function don't work the user can enable "Keyboard controlable mouse"
by pressing alt+shift+numlock, then the mouse will be conrolled by the keyboards arrows/numbers. >8 mouse goes up >2 goes down, >4 left >6 right, >5 its clicking a mouse button, number 0 its the second button, theres also a option to use the scroll wheel click but i don't know on what keyboard button these goes.
the inverse can also be done without a keyboard, if u have just a mouse u can enable a virtual keyboard on the screen its life saver sometimes.
if the person don't have a mouse and a keyboard, its possible to control the pc by voice but it must be configured before with a keyboard and mouse and its much limited on what it can do at this point its better to have a touch screen support instead since windows support touch commands.
If you use the voice command and you want it to select a specific part of the screen ask it to show numbers and it will show what it can find selectable
I count: 43
I know: 37
I don't know: New folder (Ctrl+Shift+N), Open properties (Alt+Enter), Notification (WIn+N) [Although, I'm on Windows 10], Peek at desktop (Win+,), Minimize (WIn+M), Change icon size (Ctrl+Alt++/-)
Great video as always.
Of the shortcuts shown, I knew all the shortcuts except the mentioned below.
Shift + tab (knew tab)
Win + D (instead used win + M)
Win + I (settings)
Win + T (Navigate taskbar) (happens accidently sometimes but did not know the shortcut until now)
Win + N (insted put the trackpad shortcut 4 finger tap)
Win + , (peek) (Thanks, I did not find the option to peek in Windows 11, insted was always forced to go to desktop)
Win + V ( I don't use clipboard history)
Win + . (Never need emojis on pc)
Insted of ctrl + alt + plus/minus or ctrl + scr whl I use ctrl + shift + 1-9 change between all the viewing options but this is useful.
P.S. I made this comment to store the list so that I can learn these. 😎
In Windows 8 times, Win+T also allowed to have taskbar right in Metro -Cr- apps, though it was pretty much useless and Start button didn't do anything at all
It would be nice if you also share some shortcuts that works in common software like browsers
Alt+D to focus omnibox (address bar) or more common like Ctrl+Shift+T to open last closed tab / Ctrl+Shift+N for new private window.
Also i found very useful Win + Arrows to move windows between displays and snap to sides/maximize/minimize them.
Also i really want some way to focus element in browser which is selected while searching (Ctrl+F) if anyone knows how to do it please share it! I'd really appreciate it.
You can also use Ctrl+L to focus the address bar
Helped for me, thanks.
6:27 you can also kill a process with alt+e(end task)
1:40
For selecting/leaping thru word/paragraph on Mac, you use ALT instead of CTRL.
Very nice video, learned a few new shortcuts!
I did not know that you could do this, keep on going I support your videos!
This video is awesome. I personally find more productivity with just the keyboard than with a mouse, and for programming I use Vim within a window manager. I found it to be more convenient than using Eclipse or Visual Studio.
About folder navigation, iirc press backspace on windows XP is UP, alt+UP not working, start vista backspace it just back forward same folder, to up a level is alt+UP.
Sometime i will use alt+esc to switch program, so no task switch window is show.
On taskbar icon, i always use win+B, just know also can use win+T.
To close a program, i will use 2 thumb, alt+space then hit C, so hand no need awful go to top of keyboard press F4, maximize window, win xp still use 2 finger, alt+space then hit X, start win 7 win+up arrow
Notificationcenter was the only one I didn't know cause I don't use it - Btw guter Content! :)
Ctrl + page up/down for switching tabs is useful for me with pg up&down button near ctrl.
i have been preparing for this since last 2 years for no reason
This is what i need to open a youtube video from flytech
I knew all but the change icon size one but still great video!
I hope you make a browser one too.

i had no idea you could use alt + f4 on the desktop to bring up an old-fashioned shutdown menu!! reminds me of windows 98 with its shutdown dialog, as well as windows 3.1 with how it handles "shutdowns" :O
btw, i counted 73 commands and didn't know about 27 of them. at least after watching this, it's down to 0
I only knew it because sometimes i get frustrated and i spam ALT F4 to close stuff
Which leads to me doing it in the desktop
didnt knew ctrl + del/backspace and from now on I'll be using it a lot
i knew it on mac, and you use ALT instead of CTRL there.
You should do a video on how messing with time & date in cmd breaks windows, it's really weird. If you set your date to something really high, it causes things to mess up badly & breaks your OS

Thank you for showing my comment in your video. This is a first shoutout that happened to me
i dont use windows but if you press space while highlighting a file/folder, it will open (on mac)
fly is insect but FlyTech is more than a insect
I counted 52 shortcuts,
of which I knew 40.
I counted all the "Single letter in menu" shortcuts as one, meaning Alt, then O then W is for me just Alt then *a letter* .
The only ones I didn't know are some of the Window$-specific ones, as I don't use them. I use only the shortcuts usable in the Unity desktop environment, as that's my favourite Linux DE.
Little question: isn't "Show desktop" and "Minimize all windows" effectively the same? They both minimize all windows to show you the desktop.
Please Do a Part 2 of This Video If There's a Another Keyboard Shortcut You Didn't Use on This Video!!
I work as an informatic, and of course I knew all shortcuts. I did things like changing the system font in MIUI 12.5 (that's hard) to the Linux console font (Hack Regular). Indeed, the informatic one more time wins!
And no, that's not the only thing I did.
Desktop users are lucky, if they press touchpad with 3 fingers at once, it'll open calendar and notification system, if 4 fingers, it'll gonna open a search bar/search
thanks its working for windows 10 too

Disappointed that you didn't cover being able to search by the first few letters in explorer and taskmanager (ie, pressing "st" in quick succession to be brought to files/processes that start with that, such as Start), but you did cover the exact run command to open the recycling bin. I feel like searching with keys is more of a keybind than a run command.
Overall, I didn't know 19 of the 56 keybinds I counted. I don't think win+N counts though - just searched it up, it's a win11 keybind.
Could you use slide to shut down?

Win + q for search or windows key start typing when start comes up win+w for widget pane

what's the difference between wt and windows terminal?
I'm so disspaointed you didn't mention win + f to quickly open the feedback hub and tell Bill how great his os is
You can set a list of the shortcuts as background, you will learn them easily.
I sometimes don't use the mouse in school because the mouses are crap so I used the keyboard only to navigate and discovered/learned many of those, but there is some that I didn't knew! Thanks for that :)
Note: I can tell you that using browsers wihout mouse is pain...
You could use the ease of access mouse keys for the browser
I once broke the driver of my mouse... The mouse still worked and I even use it right now but the virtual mouse on my desktop wasn't even showing up, it got vaporized. I had to reset my whole PC to fix it and I really had a hard time only pressing tab for over 4 hours to switch between buttons and settings to finally reset my PC...
How to minimize or maximize active window?
How Could I Thank You Nice Video Bro👍👍
Windows/mac users: I can navigate with arrow keys that's so much better :o
*NIX users who binded the entire home row and almost never left it since and have browsers as only gui programs: I know right
I knew loads from online but *_thanks_* 😀
You forgot one, which is also switces languages (Better to use when you only have 2-3 languages)
It's Shift + Alt
CTRL+ALT+F4
Here you go, you HAVE to do everything with the keyboard now
what does it do?
Fun fact: in win control panel idk where but you can use num lock number keys to move the cursor
You should show how many of these relate back to Win95 and Win 3.1 :)
I worked years ago, and sometimes even today, without a mouse (as an IT Pro).... now I've a question (I know the answer!) ... - does anyone know the replacement shortcut for the Windows-Key and Context-Menu-Key? (Assuming you've an old keyboard without Windows-Keys)
context menu is also shift+f10
Thing we all learned from this wideo is: You don't need mouse, but it help you navigating + there are 54 shortcuts in this Video and i know 27 of them + Lift works also for up arrow + there are 3 bonuses and i don't remember any of these + My favorites are taskbar buttons, emojis and windows + desktops
Lift works with any button
sometimes a mouse is slower
It's faster to just mash keys than to lift a hand from your keyboard to click with your mouse
I use Win+L at work which annoys my colleagues because it locks both the virtual machine and the pc, so they have to log in twice.
No mention of Alt + Space??? Or Win + Arrow keys?
Win+tab is the aero app switch/aero Window on Windows 7/Vista
imagine recording macro on this and speeding it up by x20 speed
So that was a lot to count, but there were probably over 100 shortcuts including duplicated ones! Of which I only knew 18. TIL there are a TON of shortcuts that use the Windows key, I didn't even know one of them!
0:36 What the hell is that three bar button?
Also my context menus don't have anything underlined in them.

Hi Flytech, at 4:19 you state that you can open the containing folder of wt.exe using the context menu button. However, this submenu does not appear for me on windows 11. Do you know whether this is because you are running an insider preview, or did you upgrade from windows 10 (in my experience, this is bugged 9 times out of 10)
Hmm, maybe try hitting the button twice? This shouldn't be an insider issue
@@FlyTechVideos Appears not to work. When searching for non-executable files, pressing the button will create a submenu, but it will only allow me to copy the file path.
